An update to my prior review they apparently remove negative reviews on The Knot by abusing the dispute function Completely unprofessional Prior Review: A major disappointment. We contracted them for two months of design work ahead of the date and received nothing for the first month. We prodded them through their frustrating website (the only means of communication since we never got any sort of direct email address) and when we did finally receive a mood board it was 6-8 images of items that were all clearly pulled from a single search on their preferred vendor website. We ended up doing all the decor planning and transportation ourselves so this was a complete waste. We only met our day-of coordinator a week or so ahead of the day and while Emily was professional and courteous Gina basically missed the whole meeting on the phone with someone else as we could hear through the video call. In the end bc we had done all the planning and transport ourselves and our venue coordinator had done all the logistics work with our vendors there wasn't much to do on the day. We found out later through social media they're contracting 3 or more weddings per weekend so if you want any sort of personal attention, look elsewhere. They're clearly optimizing for quantity over quality. read more

There aren't enough words to express just how thankful we are for Gina and OFDE. Well beyond managing the details of the day, keeping the timeline, and facilitating vendor communication and organization leading up to our wedding-as a bride, I felt a sense of security knowing that Gina had our backs throughout the day. Located in downtown La Grange, it could be a bit tricky to find some of the smaller businesses but as long as it's a nice day, it's a nice place for walking anyway. We checked this place out after my fiancé had checked into some planners for the wedding so we decided to stop by. We got there and had to wait a bit, ok no issues as she was with a previous couple so we had no problem waiting. We walked in and the setup was small and cozy but lacked many examples of much. We talked general questions and got info on both styles of her package which are usually the general wedding planner and the day of planning. We had a good idea of what we wanted and are very artistic so we were looking more at the day of which helps with of course day of activities but also helps out a bit with finding vendors and contracts and what not just on a smaller scale. We talked budget which ours was pretty average. We went on ver basic info like themes, colors, area etc. For an initial meeting and just trying to find what we wanted we left it with some genere al points and waiting for a quote from her. She said she would get us this by the end of day which we told her by Monday was fine (it was Saturday). I walked outta there thinking that was not necessarily the feeling I want from the wedding. Her herself or decorative styles as it seemed cold as rigid. I felt throughout the meeting that we were inconveniencing her. It was just the feeling I got. And I guess I wasn't far off because we never got a quote that week. Going through our daily routine we had remembered to check back in the following weekend. We were told sorry and she'd get back...via email because we called and emailed. And...nothing....not sure what it was but since then we've been to plenty of wedding planners and vendors in general and she still stands as the rudest service we s gotten. I'm not sure if she thought it wasn't worth the time because day of planners of course would make less but then: why offer it?! I'm. If I had to choose 1 part of my wedding planning that I'm most happy about, its my wedding planner. I am in the midst of the planning and will be getting married in September and I couldn't have done it with One Fine Day Events! Just from a financial aspect has save me a ton of money. She covers her full fee and much more with the negotiating she has done lowering the cost/ head at my venue, relationships with vendors that give her a cheaper price than the general public and all of the great decor ideas that replace high cost options I had found myself. She has a great sense of style, organized, and always gets back to me incredibly quickly when I have questions (I have a lot!). She is everything and more in a planner. I strongly recommend this wedding planner! I interviewed a ton of wedding planners and didn't one that came close to one that had as many fresh ideas as Gina did. From my experience,most I spoke with had a lot of ideas of things they had done before. I didn't want a wedding that had been done before. I really don't know where to begin. We were referred to Gina, One One Fine Day Events. We were told that she was great. Upon meeting with her along with the bride to be, her parents and myself. She explained to us her years of experience and what she did. We explained to her that we had already done the majority of things that would be included in her top package, and she explained we could customize a package to fit our needs. She was given a cashiers check as a deposit before we even left her office and confirmed what we wanted, as we didn't want her have been booked by someone else. We asked if she would be coordinating our wedding, and she explained that normally she only does the larger packages but if she was available then she would, which she checked and was. Now if Gina did not want to commit to what we wanted she should of expressed that, as maybe that was the reason her services were so awful and unprofessional. As we were confirming our contract and what services we desired, her follow-up was not consistent what so ever. She was extremely slow responding to emails and phone calls between the mother of the bride, the bride and myself. I mean like 3-4 days.. I guess we should of realized then that something was off, but everyone had nothing but good things to say. We finally had a contract in place for 30 days prior to the wedding, rehearsal, and day of Wedding which was September 3rd 2016. As the bride began calling Gina she was still dragging along, after getting her documents she requested our photographer said she was not responding, then after the mothers called and left messages she finally responded to him..by this time I had a bad feeling, but not wanting to put more stress on the bride and groom we proceeded. Here are a few highlights of what happened from this point: 1. When the bride asked about the rehearsal she was told by Gina that she does not come to rehearsal's that would be extra, REALLY.. We paid for that and it was in our contract. Why would a coordinator not be at the rehearsal???? 2. She was really of no help during the rehearsal as she seem disoriented and confused as how to give direction, which the Hilton was giving us more help. 3. In our contract we were to have had 2 coordinators total, including Gina as our wedding party and guest list was very large. over 260 guest and 22 in the bridal party, not including parents, grands etc. 4. Gina showed up and introduced me to her husband as her helper for the day, are your kidding me. He was wearing a polo shirt and jeans.. How dare she? Gina didn't even respect us enough to at least have him dressed. This man was at the door receiving our guest and handing out programs when we had ushers prepared to do this but do to Gina's disorganization they were not doing it until too late. 5. Apparently Gina had another wedding going on at the Morton Arboretum which I assume that is where our assistant coordinator was, which we paid for not Gina's husband. 6. Gina was instructed to not touch the gift box on several occasions but was seen by the brides sister and mother having her husband carry it out "take it to the suite" we did not need her to do that and we told her not to. 7. She was clearly overwhelmed and didn't care.. Due to her lack or organization and help we missed out on pictures, I was pinning flowers on groomsmen, and the brides mother had too organize the girls and get them downstairs. 8. Gina did not even tell us when she was leaving or say good bye as the other vendors did. Thank God for the Hilton/Lisle and their hospitality staff who saved the day for us. Shame on you Gina, for your lack of care and concern for one of the most important days, of our families life. It is clear that because we did not use your most expensive package that we didn't receive from you the same excellent service that apparently your previous clients who have sang your praises. You were paid the amount you charged us in full but you did not fulfill your commitment to us. 9. We were determined not to let you ruin our day Thanks to the encouragement of close family and friends, that is the only reason we didn't have you escorted out of our beautiful venue.. Why would you do such a thing is that you could not promote our wedding and take credit and put pictures out on Facebook, Google and all the other places you use because you didn't do anything. Once again if you only want to coordinate from beginning to end that would have been fine but you should of told us that up front instead of taking our money and giving us poor service. Please remove Kevin & Donica's name from your face book post listing their wedding, the same as you removed my comments, but too late I have it on my Facebook and I have notified the photographer of your poor services as well. While planning my daughters wedding at Hilton Naperville, it was suggested to me a wedding planner: One Fine Day. My daughter, my husband, along with the parents of the groom, meet with Gina at her office. At that time Gina discussed with us the two types of wedding packages. During this time we had already secured the hotel, wedding area, reception for 280 guest, musicians, colors themes, etc.... So therefore we only needed One Fine Day for the month of.. Gina was given at this time a cashier check for the deposit of $500.00. We signed a contract and left. Later on during the week I began to email, Gina with questions from my daughter. All of these emails went unanswered by Gina. This was a habit that continued during the entire time, no communication from Gina to us.... One month prior to the date of the wedding, my daughter gave Gina everything that we had already put in place, all copies of vendor contracts were given to her at her request. We had already secure everything!!! During the month before my daughter communicated with Gina asking her if she assisted with things which were related to the wedding however, Gina said NO. Gina even requested that we pay $150.00 for Gina to show up and assisted with the rehearsal dinner which was clearly in our contract. On the day of the wedding, The assistants from the Hilton, that were so graciously assisting me the entire time, had set up the entire room: Placement cards were placed on the table with rose petals, cake money box, along with sign in book along with other things were already in place. Gina arrived at the Hilton at 2p.m. along with NO ASSISTANT YET HER HUSBAND DRESSED IN GEENS, to assist her!!! How UNPROFESSIONAL !! It was stated in our contract that we would have Gina and an assistant, assisting from 2p.m-11 p.m. We began contacting Gina at 2p.m all text messages, phone calls went unanswered!! At 4p.m. I suggested that Gina is not coming to assist us and we began to make our way down stairs to the wedding, which should have started at 4 p.m. SHARP!! Gina was not available to assist!!! This was so upsetting because my daughter felt that Gina was the best, however, I WILL NEVER EVER REFER HER TO ANYONE!!! During the wedding Gina was not assisting with anything yet making conversation with her husband. When asked by the wedding party questions Gina stated I don't know... I feel One Fine Day was not prepared and I will never refer anyone to One Fine Day, yet it should be called ONE LOUSY SERVICE!
