A week ago we had an Insulation company come by for an estimate. They informed us that our ductwork had not been properly sealed with tape and mastic. In addition to the flex duct work not being cut to the proper length in some places. I called Liberty and to their credit they did send someone out within a couple days to finish the work. The same guy that had done the original work came and when I asked him why he hadn't done it properlyin the first place, he said it was because it was summer and to hot. I can totally understand not wanting to do it, but then dont take the job if your not going to do it properly. We also would have been open to waiting until it was cooler to do the job or finish the job. Instead we had leaky ductwork at 9 connections for 2years. The tech did complete the job by taping and applying mastic to the connections, although after checking they were not all done well at all. He also used the old insulation to try and cover the boots. If you've had work done by Liberty I would check to see if they did it properly. And if you use them make sure you get photos of the finished work. Their is no reason they cant have their employees take photos after each job is complete and included that with their bill.

The technician was very friendly and he kept pointing things out that were a result of our failure to do routine maintenance on the unit - such as a dirty drain and dirty coils. He checked the outside unit and joked about a dead lizard in the unit. When all was said and done he provided us with a list of things that needed to be repaired/replaced for a total over $4000. Of course he then suggested that it would be more cost effective in the long run to replace the unit and scheduled us with a sales rep for the following morning. We paid $69 for the visit and he said he did clean the drain. The next morning I cancelled the sales rep and called Harrison Hardy for a second opinion. That technician came out and did routine maintenance on our unit and found one $90 part that needed to be replaced (capacitor). The total was $255 and that includes another routine maintenance visit in the spring. That technician also said that the original technician had not cleaned the drain.

In July 2026, technician from Harrington Air Conditioning came out for a "no cool" issue on my 2019 Trane straight cool system (air handler in the vertical hallway closer) Technician diagnosed a low refrigerant charge and a leak at the evaporator coil. He presented three options: * A) Just pay the $89 service call fee * B) Pay $408 to add R-410A refrigerant (which he said would get it running temporarily) * C) Pay $5,407 for a full evaporator coil replacement I chose option B to avoid the huge repair cost for now. After he added the refrigerant and charged the system to "factory specs," there was still no cooling at all. Technician casually said it would "take a couple hours to cool down" and left. Their after-hours service line is just an AI bot that promises a callback in the morning, which never came. No follow-up whatsoever. Frustrated, I called Pleasant Air Conditioning in Largo the next day. Their technician quickly diagnosed the real issue: my wall thermostat was faulty and causing the heating and cooling to fight each other at the same time. They replaced the thermostat, and cool air started blowing immediately. Harrington's technician completely misdiagnosed the problem, charged me $408 for unnecessary refrigerant, and provided zero follow-up. I felt taken advantage of, especially with that massive $5,400 coil replacement quote right after spotting a supposed leak. I would highly recommend staying far away from Harrington Air Conditioning. On September 5, 2024, we enrolled in Harrington's maintenance program at a cost of $380 per year to…read morehelp prevent maintenance-related issues and protect our investment. In June 2026, our AC system shut down. Technician Jacob informed us that the drain pan and drain line needed to be cleared and that the safety switch had shut the system down to prevent overflow. We were then presented with a proposed charge of $744. We were told the issue existed because we had not scheduled maintenance within six months, and so we were not covered by our pre-paid maintenance plan. The company indicated that a reminder call had been made, but if so, it occurred while I was recovering from surgery. I received no email reminders, text messages, or additional follow-up attempts, even though I received both text and email reminders of the appointments with Adam and Jacob. It was difficult to accept a proposed charge of approximately $744 for what was described as clearing a drain pan and drain line. This is a routine maintenance that the technician told us would take roughly 30 minutes, and needed no components nor supplies. This implies an hourly labor charge of $1488. I was willing to pay a reasonable amount and repeated that several times. As we questioned the proposed charge of $744 for a half hour of work, the technician called the office, and the discussion reached an impasse. Next, he walked out. No work was performed, and we were not charged because we declined the proposed service. I contacted management to discuss the situation and seek a reasonable resolution, but my calls and email were not answered. We saved Harrington money by not requesting prepaid maintenance. With that in mind, it would have been reasonable to simply perform the maintenance and, if necessary, charge us $100-$200 for the emergency service call.

My grievance with OEL is with their unlicensed technicians and their refusal to take responsibility for their errors. OEL failed to properly inspect my AC drain lines which prolonged my AC problems for 3 and a half years. OEL's carelessness has led to other issues resulting in unnecessary restoration work. I have also come to question OEL's professionalism and work at the conclusion of this experience for two reasons: their defensive behavior and their lack of explanation for the physically damaged AC hard copper drain line they didn't discover. Who broke the AC drain line in the attic since OEl were the only ones who accessed my attic until the leak was discovered by another plumber on May 3, 2021 who had taken these attached photos? My AC issue with OEL could have been resolved earlier if they had a licensed technician inspect my AC drain lines in the attic when I first had an issue with my AC. This AC issue carried on for 3.5 years attributed to a clogged drain line starting on October 6, 2017. OEL technicians responded to my many service calls to fix the problem only to respond with the same remedy of unclogging and treating the drain line instead of taking the time to find the root cause of the clogging issue in the drain lines. AC Drain Line Installation - 2017/07/22 The issue with my AC drain lines dates back to a water leak I had on the first floor in a storage area beneath the stairs. This problem was resolved by installing the AC hard copper drain lines in the attic directly above the AC unit in the closet on the second floor. OEL installed the AC hard copper drain lines and completed the work with a final inspection on July 22, 2017. Initial AC Problems two months later - 2017/10/06 Second AC Problem 10 months later - 2018/08/07 Third AC Problem 3 days later - 2018/08/10 Fourth AC Problem up to one year later - 2019/08/06 Fifth AC Problem 6 months later - 2020/02/05 Sixth AC Problem 12 months later - 2021/03/28 OEL Service Call Next Day - 2021/03/29 I asked and insisted that Wyatt, the OEL's technician, check the AC copper drain lines in the attic. Wyatt disregarded and refused to climb into the attic to inspect the AC drain lines insisting that the leak wasn't from the AC. Wyatt documented "Completed service system call. Client stated water leaking around light beneath 2 upstairs restrooms. Did not find anything dysfunctional with AC unit." on the invoice receipt. The following morning, March 30, I called OEL requesting Wyatt G. to inspect the AC drain line. I once again asked him to inspect the drain line in the attic and he refused. Wyatt expressed frustration because he didn't feel his visit was necessary. Broken AC drain line discovery - 2021/05/03 On May 3, 2021 I contacted a plumber, Mike of Tampa Bay Plumbers, to find the source of the water leak. Mike confirmed that the leak did not come from the plumbing lines. He asked to access the attic and found a cracked copper drain line installed by OEL. I then called OEL to fix the copper drain line they installed and refused to inspect in the attic. Chad S. and Wyatt arrived to service my call at 11:30am. OEL documented the following statement, "Found crack in condensate line that appeared to have been stepped on and cracked on trist. Repaired line with 3/8 hose and hose clamps. Removed wet insulation. Purged line with 2 gallons of water. Found no other cracks." Signed by Wyatt. Chad S. completed the job by repairing the line with clamps and final checks two weeks later on May 17th. He confirmed there weren't any water leaks. Chad refused to admit all 12 yellow receipts were drain line related work since 7/22/2017-05/03/2021. OEL's defensive behavior adds to my suspicion of the physically damaged AC hard copper drain line in the attic.
