On September 5, 2024, we enrolled in Harrington's maintenance program at a cost of $380 per year to help prevent maintenance-related issues and protect our investment. In June 2026, our AC system shut down. Technician Jacob informed us that the drain pan and drain line needed to be cleared and that the safety switch had shut the system down to prevent overflow. We were then presented with a proposed charge of $744. We were told the issue existed because we had not scheduled maintenance within six months, and so we were not covered by our pre-paid maintenance plan. The company indicated that a reminder call had been made, but if so, it occurred while I was recovering from surgery. I received no email reminders, text messages, or additional follow-up attempts, even though I received both text and email reminders of the appointments with Adam and Jacob. It was difficult to accept a proposed charge of approximately $744 for what was described as clearing a drain pan and drain line. This is a routine maintenance that the technician told us would take roughly 30 minutes, and needed no components nor supplies. This implies an hourly labor charge of $1488. I was willing to pay a reasonable amount and repeated that several times. As we questioned the proposed charge of $744 for a half hour of work, the technician called the office, and the discussion reached an impasse. Next, he walked out. No work was performed, and we were not charged because we declined the proposed service. I contacted management to discuss the situation and seek a reasonable resolution, but my calls and email were not answered. We saved Harrington money by not requesting prepaid maintenance. With that in mind, it would have been reasonable to simply perform the maintenance and, if necessary, charge us $100-$200 for the emergency service call. read more

On 12/16 our bi-annual A/C check up was due and we were fortunate to meet a recent member of the Harrington team, Trace. A fine young fellow who demonstrated excellent communication skills and a diligent work ethic. Not only courteous and knowledgeable, he explained in detail , all he had done and the overall condition of the system. Service guys are good, but the NEW owner bot new software that tells the guys to OVER charge. $400 to wave a wand for 60 seconds to find a leak... THEN ANOTHER $1,600 to patch and refill. Sorry they moved from a great company to a gouge company. read more

Harrington Air installed a new blower motor in the air handler which developed problems due to a loose wire in the connection when installed. Six months later technician resecured the loose wire. Today, technician Adam Cartwright responded due to the loose wire again and installed a new secure wiring plug. Adam was very thorough and professional. No charge for the service. I had been a loyal customer of Harrington AC for about 30 years and during that time have owned multiple homes and purchased many AC units which I had serviced by Harrington. My last AC unit purchase in 2023 was over $18,000. Over 30 years I estimate myself and other extended family members have spent at least $50,000 and I have probably referred any least that amount again as President of a large HOA. Unfortunately the business was sold to new owners two years ago, see sunbiz.org, doc # T23000000252, and my recent experience has been very poor. Prices are much higher, and service and communications are below standard. My most recent experience began when I requested a maintenance check for my new $18,000 unit. A technician discovered a refrigerant leak and told me he would probably be out the next day with a part to repair it. It took over a month to fix. Repair dates were scheduled 3 times. The first date was cancelled. I was told the part wasn't available. The second repair date no one showed up or notified me. A month later a tech finally arrived and fixed the leak. By that time so much refrigerant had leaked out that the tech said the original estimate of $1,542.63 to fix the leak would have to be increased to $2,171.38. I told the tech I wanted to speak to his boss about the amount of $2,171.38 to repair the leak. The tech said I had to pay right away and he was instructed to stay until I paid. I asked him to leave but he said he wouldn't and that his boss wanted him to remove the refrigerant from my AC unit. Then an alert came thru my phone that my credit card had been charged. I had given my card number a month ago when I purchased a $200 annual maintenance contract. An invoice was emailed to me with a handwritten note that I was not present. I have video cameras to prove that I was and I told the tech that my card was charged without my authorization. The tech then left and as far as I can tell from my video cameras did not remove any refrigerant. I will be taking my business elsewhere and will not refer any more people to this business in the future. read more

No problem with the service staff,they worked hard. We have been clients since 1995 and had no problem up until company was sold to new owners a few years ago. Called on a Sunday and service man came out but could not find the problem,said he would be back the next morning.He gave us a quote to run a new wire from the thermostat to a/c unit of approximately $950.00. We said that was crazy and asked to hear from management,they never called,we add to call,and they refused to justify the cost. The service people came out the next morning and in 4.5 hours did the wiring and replaced the thermostat. So for the wiring about four hours,which works out to about $235.00 per hour!!! My family has used Harrington to service our A/C units for almost 20 years. The interaction we've had with their technicians and staff have been very positive. Recently, we had a mysterious situation with the A/C. Barry, Jack and Zion were very diligent and thorough in trying to figure out what was happening. I'd leave 0 stars if possible! This company was referred by a friend who is currently building a new home on the north side of St.Pete. We're getting ready to start a remodel and addition and need a new system for the increase in size. The man sent out spent all of a minute with me and said that they don't do new construction. I told him I was referred by a friend doing new construction. He shrugged and that was it. My friend called them to see what the story was. They said they don't work with contractors they don't know ( he never asked about our contractor) and then said it wasn't because I was a female or that I live on the south side! Are you kidding me! I once was a supporter of this company. No longer. New unit purchased 10/17. Installers were less than professional. Nothing but problems since. Every 3-4 months the system goes down in spite of monthly maintenance. At first they made good on it. Now it's. "If WE don't do the maintenance every 4 months, it's not covered." Of course there's an additional charge for this. Is it too much to expect a new unit to work reliably? BTW, I was informed the Harringtons are no longer involved with the company . Calling BBB. 4/26/19 Update: Spoke to the office and they will not charge me the $227 for last night's call. They'll also be coming out to retreat drainage line. read more

I needed to have my ductwork replaced and I asked them to come out and give me a quote. They came out and inspected my ductwork. I called them a few days later to let them know I had not received a quote yet and was told "that the they had tried to reach me" to let me know what they found and that I needed to pay $75 for the diagnostic charges before they would send the estimate. If they had tried to reach me why would they not leave a message? I paid them the $75 for their devices but still never got their estimate. My ductwork has been replaced by another company. Out of the 4 other companies that I got quotes from non of them needed to go under the house to give me a quote, they measured the vents to determine how much ductwork there was and were able to give me a quote and none of them charge a fee to give me an estimate. To put it plain and simple this company is outstanding across the board. All of the people that work there are incredible. The work is beyond the pale. When the inspector came out I told him that Harrington replaced our 1973 duct work, he said they are the best! Harrington also put in a two stage Carrier A/c heat pump a couple of years earlier. I can't say enough good things about this company. From the person who answers the phone to the installers. They were all so professional and very nice. I was not pressured into anything. I tried to get two other quotes but one company(I wont mention name) would not give me one until they saw the quotes of the other two and the other one was right around the same price. But in the end I went with Harrington AC. Customer service, friendliness and of course no pushy salesman. They were on time and cleaned up after their job was completed. I was very impressed with job, they very neat and professional. After work was completed the city inspector came to pass the final inspection. This company goes above and beyond for customer service! Lost our ac on the hottest day to date, called them and they had a repair man out by early pm. Not only did he replace the blown capacitor but asked if we had it under warranty since it was only 5 yrs old. Told I didn't have a clue since we weren't living here when it was installed. The repairman said he would have his office see if they could track it down ( I am thinking, yea right). The next day Harrington called and said they tracked down the warranty and we could get a $90 refund! Who does that! Totally impressed!! read more

We had a new $4,000 A/C unit installed by HARRINGTON AIR CONDITIONING INC. last Summer. Today I had to call - now the 4th time, the first when my Husband, Dave (now deceased for only 3 months), was in hospice - because of problems with the unit not working. The Owner's grandson, who should be working this evening, told me on the phone 'The new units don't work as well as the old ones', and 'doesn't want to come out because I have a bad attitude'. It's 80 degrees in my condo now, a/c set to 76. He tried to go on about his Grandfather starting the business... I don't care! The labor part of our contract expired last month and he said to me "I know what you're trying to do". What the !!!? We should have never of done business with them! 1) Clogged drain line 2) UV light burnt out (that they sold us on their suggestion) 3) Electric cord to UV light fried 4) now, AC blowing hot! And they're trying not to be responsible. I'll probably have to call a different A/C company to fix it, and then contact my lawyer. read more
