Wow! Finally had the chance to stop in to Blacklist to grab some breakfast and it did not…read moredisappoint. We arrived right at open on Saturday morning as they seem to sell out pretty quickly. I would recommend pre-ordering the week leading up if you can't get there early. We went with the BEC on a cheddar everything, spicy boy on a cheddar jalapeño bagel and a hash brown on the side - YUM. The bacon egg and cheese was our winner, but each item was delicious. The everything cheddar might be my new favorite bagel in Grand Rapids! The spicy boy did pack a punch and did live up to the name, with a lingering heat. Those who love spice would be big fans. Set in such a cute area and the interior is a very cute, inviting space. Service was wonderful and inviting as well. Can't wait to be back to try more bagels!

They are only open on Saturdays 8-1pm, and I used to live farther away and it would've been difficult to make the trip to Eastown, but currently I'm walking distance to Lake Dr. It's a small store with about 3 tables inside, so mostly for takeout. I was expecting a line at 9am, but there were only a few people ahead of me! They do open advanced online ordering, which may help with the foot traffic. I ordered 3 bagels - everything, asiago, and za'tar ($8 for 3). They were out of sesame, and I got the last za'tar bagel. I wanted to make my own breakfast sandwich at home, so I didn't try their sandwiches or cream cheese this time. I also ordered a vanilla oatmilk latte from Toro Coffee (~$6), which had a pop-up stand inside as well. The bagels almost look "overbaked/overcooked," but they really just have that nice crispy exterior and fluffy inside that bagels are supposed to have! Being from the East Coast, I've complained a lot about there not being good bagels in Grand Rapids - but this is easily the best spot I've tried! I will come here again to pick up bagels for a special occasion!

I came here for a Yelp Elite event and now it may be a regular spot for us! The food menu…read morepreviously didn't speak to me, but now that they're partners with Los Mariscos, I'm more interested. The interior is a nice vibe with picnic tables and booths, as well as a bar and high tops. There is a waitress but you can also order at the bar. The food did take awhile though. We got chips and guac, which I really liked the homemade chips, and the taco special on Tuesdays. For $25, you can pick steak, chicken, or birria tacos; you can mix and match any way you like, so we got 2 steak and 8 birria. It comes with cilantro and onions and salsa roja and verde. I was told the birria tacos were the same as the quesabirria, but just know that for this Tuesdays special, they're not -- it is only the birria taco meat with consommé on the side, no cheese or taco shells dipped in the consommé. UPDATE: My fiancé went back here with his dad a few days later, and he claims the chips tasted old or stale and the birria cheese dip appetizer was too watery and did actually come with birria in it (he had to ask for it and was given a tiny portion). Nonetheless, I'd love to come back here for tacos (quesabirria or steak) and definitely want to try the shrimp ceviche!

One of my good friends took me out for a late birthday celebration here at City Built!…read more This was my first time actually eating here but second time being in/ near the space because a few days before they hosted a World Cup watch party right on Mason street, which was super dope btw! I looked on City Built's website to see the menu before going there (of course) and found out that Los Mariscos De Pancho is now serving their food here which was a nice surprise since I have tried them at their Leonard location a few years back and enjoyed their food! I wish I could've tried some of the food that City Built had before since i had heard good things in the past but loved the combination of both City Built and Los Mariscos De Pancho! While browsing their website, I also found out that there would be open mic night on Thursdays and live music/ concerts on Monday nights which is always fun! We sat at the bar and we were pretty close to the musicians so it was kinda loud but my friend and I were still able to have our conversation. We came on a Thursday night around 6:30pm and it was already a steady amount of people there but as the night progressed the restaurant was more busy. Street parking wasn't too hard to find at this time or maybe we just got lucky.I believe the meters are free after 7pm! Walking in, there's bar seating, booth seating, high top table, coffee table seating, and bench style seating where you can sit yourself. There are 2 different entrances and in front of the main one there's patio seating! We opted to sit at the bar this time since most of the booths were full and it just happened to work out that way. We started off with drinks an alcoholic and non alcoholic version of the Agua De Jamaica and an order of the Garlic Butter Mussels. The my NA Agua De Jamaica was refreshing and much needed for the hot day. The mussels come in a serving of 6 or 12 and next time I would definitely order 12 right off the bat because we ended up ordering another round LOL. The sauce was so good I could drink it. The cucumbers were a nice refreshment/ palate cleanser from all that garlicky, buttery goodness. Just writing this review makes me want more right now! I also thought the mussels were a good size too so I will definitely be ordering those again. We also both ordered the Birria Ramen which came with Texas toast which I've never seen before. The portion size of the ramen was very filling since I was stuffed before our 2nd round of mussels came out (which took longer than anticipated to come out since we had to check to see if the order was put in). I also ordered the Birria Plate (4 birria tacos & consume) to go for my husband, which I should've ordered a bit earlier because of how long the mussels took. In the meantime, my friend wanted an expresso martini which they don't normally serve, but our amazing bartender made his own version with what he had and gave us both a cup to try. I don't even drink expresso martinis like that but the drink he made was delicious! I also heard that they have great beers too but I can't speak to that since I drink beers like that. Overall loved the vibes in here. They had different entertainment options like the live music and a few different board games to pick from. The ambiance had lots of natural light, and cute string lights, and overall a nice place to have dinner and drinks! Service was a bit on the slower side, maybe for this particular day, but everyone we interacted with was very friendly.

I rented with Hertz for a while along my travels since 2008, so it was nice to be with them again…read moreon my travels to Grand Rapids, MI on a recent October 2016 trip here. Hertz always gives consistently great service each time I rent with them. Only problem For me is that I am not apart of the Hertz Gold club member, since I always go with Priceline to get the best deal for my car rental car, so that kind of says volumes about car rental prices around the industry including here at Hertz. $30/day or more for a standard rental car isn't my cup of tea when you are traveling on a budget, but I'm sure that there are those who think it's no big thing. That's why I'm not part of Hertz's Gold club. With that said, I arrived here in mid October and rented from Hertz for 4 days. I'm glad that the state of Michigan didn't have toll roads, but I asked for a toll pass anyway. The service here was nice, fast, and legit. Being that this was done at Grand Rapids, MI regional airport location of Hertz, it was easy to locate and very easy logistics to get the car and be on my way. The overall experience here at Grand Rapids, MI Hertz is as good as it can be. While I did have an incident on the roads during my rental experience, they took care of me and it was fine. I had worried about something an employee in Hertz Atlanta told me, but the employee at the Grand Rapids Hertz reassured me that I received the wrong information. So, I was happy that all's well that ended okay and it's getting taken care of. This Hertz car rental location is located at the Grand Rapids, MI regional airport. It was super easy to get to since the car rental complex is really next door to the terminal and you just walk out of the baggage claim area, follow the signage, and walk across the street. Many of the national car rental brands are here at this complex, so that was pretty good. Like many of the nation's car rental companies, they accept major credit cards for your purchase. On this trip in Grand Rapids (drove in Detroit), I purchased the LDW insurance as usual, not knowing what will happen on the roads. Most of the time, I drive fine and get to where I need to go, but this time around - while I didn't hit anyone, I damaged the rental car by driving over some dead animal carcass on the road at 5:00am in the morning while trying to fill the gas tank and returning the car for a 6am flight out of Grand Rapids, MI. I only noticed this since there was a weird sound that sounded like something was dragging on the road, as I was driving. Sure enough, the undercarriage of the car was torn and was dragging on the roadway. I was dismayed, but I knew I had purchased the LDW insurance at $24.99/day to prevent this kind of incident from occurring. It may be pricey for rental car insurance, but when stuff happens, you're glad you bought it, versus not having it. The car itself was nice. Drove great and had a USB charger for me to use while charging my iPhone while on the go and playing some Pokémon Go while out in the burbs in Detroit and in Grand Rapids. The car itself was clean and the trunk was spacious. Not sure what the car was, since I didn't take a photo of it. The car rental location was great and very convenient right inside the airport Perimeter, so no off site shuttle to get in and out of. The check in process was nice, but due to the early rental return, I put the completed car rental contract and keys into their lockbox on the car rental counter. I figured it would be safe and sound then. Shortly thereafter, I went through TSA and called GRR Hertz to see what I needed to do for the car. While i was through TSA, I thought I could just file a report in Atlanta, which I thought I did. Come to find out, that wasn't the case. The lady from GRR Hertz called me while in Atlanta and explained the situation to me. I'm glad that I took the LDW insurance, otherwise, i would have been liable for damage. She took down my information and what happened to the car. That was that and she put my mind at ease. Thank you Hertz! Stuff happens on these roads and I'm glad that the LDW insurance worked for me. While it is a revenue source for the company when nothing happens, it's good to have when something does! I do like Hertz for its professionalism and the high quality cars that they have. I have yet once have to report a problem with a car that didn't wasn't my fault (i.e. Low tire pressure) 4.0 stars for the service. 4.0 stars for the car. 4.5 stars for the quality and service provided. Something about my reservation didn't make it to the manifest??? The agent (I think her name was Jessica) was very rude and treated me like I was bothering her existence by just being there. After looking at our room and finding it in disarray and with a broken AC, we requested a different room. The second room had a great AC, new. The second room was still in disarray. The lamps were crooked on the wall, and the pillows were gross. I included pics of the first room, with its slashed blanket and duvet cover. In the second room our beds had no blankets at all, just a sheet and an empty duvet cover. At first we thought they had forgotten to finish making the beds, but no. Shower heads are oddly low. About 5'. I'm 5'6" and I kept hitting my head on the thing while arching back to wash my hair. Pretty funny. Also the whole place reeked of cigarettes and the cheap nasty towels smelled like they'd been washed using old cigarette butts as detergent. Check out the mirrored staircase in the lobby. The decor was interesting throughout. Looks like it was once the fancy hotel. But the nice hotel of 1980 is the shabby 1.5 star motel of today. We ended up at this place because we booked online. When we arrived, the lobby was full of people trying to check in. The lobby is dated, but looks nice. Don't be fooled, because the hotel is nothing close to nice. After waiting for a good 20 minutes, the Russian manager was finally able to help us check in. However, despite booking many weeks ago, he was unable to find our reservation. He looked through a very large stack of papers, only to be finally helped by another employee. She was able to come up with our information. A computer system would help! Following payment and signing papers we headed to our rooms. To bad we didn't notice the sign on the wall behind the counter that read "If you are unhappy with your room, please let us know within 15 minutes of your stay for a full refund ". Walking to our room the odor of stale marijuana permitted the hallways. The garbage on the floors, the filth on the walls and the dated "decor" should have caused us to leave. We had booked three rooms. One of the rooms had a hand drawn arrow on it letting us know to pull the handle upwards in order to enter. That's because the door had just been pried open obviously with a screwdriver. That's comforting. The rooms had not been cleaned. The soaps were open, dirty towels left in the room, cigarette holes in the comforters, filth everywhere, even blood on the walls. Do yourself a favor and check out my photos and don't stay here!

After speaking with the police it was unclear if I needed to call for a tow, or if he would. I called my insurance company and they advised to let the police handle it. I approached the officer once more and he provided me with phone numbers to a couple of different companies. After calling the first company, I wasn't optimistic about how the aftermath of this accident was going to play out. Next I called PJ's and from the moment they answered the phone, I felt relief and assured that everything would be ok. The woman that answered my call was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. She was also quick in gathering info and making decisions. She collected my payment info and assured me that I would be charged only once the car was picked up. About 5minutes after leaving the vehicle to seek medical care, the tow truck driver called and told me that they would not be charging me because car was totaled. He took the necessary info from me and said he would take care of the rest. I was elated to avoid the unexpected $100 expense the week of Christmas! I am thankful for PJ's for their service, care, and honesty!

We were also told that flushing could potentially reveal or cause failures in affected fixtures or components because of the existing buildup. Afterward, the written service report did not document the specific findings, observed resin, worsening pressure, affected toilets/shower/faucets, or the recommended repairs that were discussed in person. We promptly asked them to correct the record, especially because the claim was being handled through our home warranty, but received no response. Instead, once the warranty claim was denied, we received a text saying the work order was complete, asking for a five-star review, and offering a discounted estimate for the non-covered work. The review request may technically be about the diagnostic visit, but the lack of follow-through, incomplete documentation, and failure to respond to a reasonable request for an accurate report are part of our experience with the company. For a serious and worsening plumbing issue, we expected clear written findings, timely communication, and a report that accurately reflected what the technician said was happening. We did not receive that.
