Never again. My entire house had to be rewired. Old nob and tube taken out.l, to be replaced by current 3 prong grounded wiring. One week after " completing" the job, I had electrical failures upstairs. They came back corrected their mistake. Second week during a renovation project the builder discovered the old nob and tube wiring they said they removed was still intact and ACTIVE! Whitney came back out a second time and took care of the issue. Third week I went into the basement and discovered they had taken out all the light socket and electrical switches and didn't replace any of them. Five in total. In addition the " boss" adamantly said to take care of each of those three problems it would cost extra. Thank goodness I had a contract. emEnd if discussion. My son, had a very similar issue not knowing it was Whitney that I hired. Whitney sent out a plumber to fix a Clogged drain. My son used a plumbers snake and a few other things to remedy the problem clog to no avail. when the plumber from Whitney came, my son showed him where the clog was. Plumber said you need a snake to unclog it and I didn't bring one. Charged my son $250. My son said your website says free estimates. Plumber replied, estimates are free. This is a diagnostic fee. Whitney T Holdings is a disaster. I won't go into all of the details but I asked American Home Shield to please blacklist them from ever being assigned to me again. AHS has assigned them to me twice over the past year and neither time resulted in a resolution to my home issues. One of the most infuriating things about Whitney is they rely almost exclusively on text message communication. If you ever have to call them to discuss something complex, you are looking at long wait times. Today, I waited 30 minutes to speak with a representative after I had a problem with a technician. Shockingly, the representative was the most unprofessional customer service rep I have ever interacted with. He had major attitude from the beginning and by the end was yelling at me on the phone. It was truly one of the worst experiences I have ever had working with maintenance in my life. Please do yourself a favor and run far away if you find yourself interacting with Whitney Holdings. I wish I could give them a zero. The worse company ever. Sent by AHS (who continues to contract fourth-rate companies) and they were very unprofessional, charging for parts that didn't need replacing, and caused additional plumbing issues (which I know that they caused because that particular toilet is never used). I believe they put something in the toilet because I gave them a poor rating on another platform before them came back out to finish the leak job. The lid is always down and that bathroom is used for storage, yet something was lodged in the drain (discovered by another plumber). I wouldn't hire them to change the gasket on my water hose. I found out from another plumbing company that AHS had gotten rid of them because too many customers were complaining about their lack of professional, skill, and charging for unnecessary parts. But they allowed them back, which lets me know that AHS has very little value for their customers. They are more concerned about number of contracts to address tickets, as opposed to quality contracts. GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AT AN ALL-TIME LOW. read more

PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY! If I could give them a negative star rating I would. Terrible customer service and NO interoffice communication. When they first came to our house to install our furnace, they didn't connect one of the large tubes coming off of the furnace. I had to run out to the driveway and flag the installer down before he left to come in and connect it. (The tech wired the circuit board, so the furnace and the air conditioning unit were running simultaneously, causing us to have two months of electric bills over $500.00!) The company apologized and said he was a new employee, and they had let him go. After two years, our furnace stopped working. We called Whitney to come back out and take a look at it. The technician told us our circuit board was broken. He spoke with his boss and informed us it was still under warranty. A few days later they called us to schedule an appointment because our part was in. The second time they came to the house a different technician came and started to diagnose the problem. We explained to him that we were already aware of the problem and that he was there to install the new circuit board. This poor tech didn't have the part, nor was he aware of the fact that he was supposed to be installing it. He called his boss and put him on speaker. The boss apologized and said the part was never ordered and he didn't know why. He assured us they would place a rush order on the circuit board and would have someone out to the house on Monday to install it. Monday came and no one was here. We called the company and were told sorry, but our appointment was in "hold status" and never updated to "active status." After many attempts to get in touch with the manager, he finally called to say he was so sorry and had no idea why it was in hold. Minutes later, someone from the company call to tells us a tech on the way. He will be at our house before 8:00. Then we received a text message saying our appointment is moved to Wednesday. Again, we speak to the manager who had no idea who would have called us to tell us a tech was on their way to our house because he doesn't have anyone available. He promised us up and down that someone would be at our house on Wednesday and he would do everything he could to make this right! (Someone who knew how to install the part properly, they would actually HAVE the part this time and they would show up.) Tuesday, we get a call from the manager telling us the circuit board isn't under warranty, and they would be out fix it. He said, "We didn't make the furnace, maybe you should call that company to see if they can help." The manager took NO responsibility for any of the mistakes but rather passed the buck to everyone else. "I don't know who forgot to order your part." "I don't know who called you to tell you we had the part." "I'm not sure why your service call was on hold." " I don't know who would have called you to say a tech is on their way." Called for power restoration after a storm. If I could give a 0 star I would. It took 5 appts. 2 of those were no shows. The first tech didn't do the job right over 2 appts. He hooked wires up backwards and it sparked in the energy tech's face when energy company turned it back on so still had no power. They ended up sending a tech from Detroit to fix it (that tech was great). No power for 10 days because of their mistakes. Lost food in 3 freezers and 2 fridges. My fiance had to call into work one of the days that they didn't show up because when he called the office at the end of our time slot they assured him someone was still coming. And each time they had to make a new appointment we got pushed back because it "wasn't an emergency" or we would have to pay the emergency rates. They said someone from management would contact me because I was not happy and wanted to discuss compensation. No one has contacted me. I have called numerous times. Wow, it appears to be deja vu after reading many comments on here. I also have had American Home Shield assign this worthless service provider to go to one of my rental properties to work on a ceiling fan only to have them twice send a communication that a technician was scheduled and or on the way only to have no one ever show up. The most concerning thing is apparently American Home Shield has been notified numerous times about the issues associated with this service provider to the point that customers have requested that this service provider be blocked and AHS still insist on maintaining a partnership with them and using them even though they are not doing the job and are negatively impacting their customers. Technician knocked the door 30 min late after the appointment time, he didn't even have the patience to stay at the door for 30 seconds. By the time we opened the door he was going back to his van (thought he wants to bring in some equipment), but he drove away in no time. We were told that he waited for 1 hr when we called the customer care. This is not certainty true. Or, he is just sitting in his van and didn't care about knocking on the door until 1 hr of his arrival. We were offered to re-schedule the appointment, but denied after seeing the other reviews. We are without air conditioning for over 5 weeks. We just want to pay them their fee and get our service scheduled so we can have AC again. Again going on 4 weeks with no air conditioning , the repairs have been approved by warranty company but Whitney refuses to contact us. I was assigned to this company through my home warranty for a furnace issue. Initially I was impressed because they were there within hours of submitting my request to AHS. The furnace was condemned and was told it was leaking carbon monoxide. The request and initial visit all occurred 1/31. Now 4 days later (2/4) and several attempts to contact them by AHS (and only in response to my numerous calls) they still have not submitted their diagnostic report to AHS for authorization. They don't answer the phone or respond to AHS emails/voicemails. The high has been in the 20s this week and I've had to run multiple electric space heaters during this time to prevent pipes from bursting. Now it's the weekend, so there will be 2 more days wasted and nowhere closer to getting my furnace replaced. Completely unacceptable. read more

Where to begin. I'm not usually one to write reviews. But this company sure deserves one. Whitney Plumbing like most reviewers stated, was assigned to us through American Home Shield. In October we started having issues with our tankless water heater going out and not heating up. The technician came out and "guessed" that the issue was the unit needed to be descaled. After paying out of pocket $250... guess what?! We still had no hot water. At this point a second technician that came out around Christmas decided he would put a request in for replacement because they were out of guesses. Shortly after this we received an invoice from Whitney stating we owed $609 for services AHS would not cover. Again, in good faith and thinking "this is it we're really going to have hot water during a Michigan winter" we paid. That was 12/27/23. It only took a month and multiple nasty calls to both AHS and Whitney to get my hot water heater installed 1/30/24. I went as far as contacting the vendor who had the unit to find out the status of the delivery / pick up. The unit was there and ready to be picked up for weeks. That entire time AHS blamed Whitney and Whitney blamed AHS. Fast forward to yesterday and 2 months with this new unit. I contacted AHS again because yet again we are having intermittent hot water. I was advised to contact the manufacturer because now I'm under warranty with them. The manufacturer advised me that there is a list of plumbers they work with and are specialized in their units. They were very clear in stating that if the issue is poor installation or the unit is installed incorrectly their warranty would not cover that. I called the new plumber (unnamed) right away and had a technician in my home by 9am this morning. Within 3 minutes my hot water heater was unplugged and gas shut off. The technician found about 5 issues with the installation. Including rotting of the flute and exhaust. He freaked out because we could have been exposed to carbon monoxide or a fire. All because Whitney's technicians taped the duct work in order to cut corners. Now I'm looking at another couple weeks of no hot water and possibly a couple thousand dollars to have Whitney's mess cleaned up. Oh and the best part is I called Whitney and spoke to supervisor who while he couldn't make any decisions on some sort of compensation and wasn't a plumber by trade asked to speak to the plumber from the new company to see if he could explain to him all the things that were wrong. I paid $316 for this new company to tell Whitney how they royally screwed up. Stay far away read more

Our toilet became clogged and I myself ran a plunger and snake through the pipes to unclog it a bit, but we still have issues. I contacted AHS to set up a service request and for some reason, they have these guys on contract to provide service. AHS won't change contractors even after a bad review. These guys show up, we tell them everything that had been done by us, and all they do is take pictures of the pipes and toilet. The guy flushed our toilet a couple times (because I had unclogged it a bit already), and said everything was fine, just because it flushed. Lo and behold, the next day, our toilets backed up again. Even though we said numerous times that something was wrong, nothing was done. Another thing too, these guys will just schedule and reschedule when they will come out without even asking or consulting you if that day works for you. Me and my wife were rescheduled for a different day on the day they were supposed to come out and all they did was send us a text message saying that they were going to come two days later, without even consulting us on if we were available that day. I left a voicemail with them to discuss scheduling issues.....I don't foresee me getting a call back lol. Please recruit someone else. read more

Horrible company! Again, American Home Shield continues to hire these second-rate companies for jobs. Whitney pads the diagnosis for additional money. The procedure is not efficient (use videos/photos to diagnose the problem, as opposed to sending a plumber out). After waiting days for the authorization, you have to wait for parts to be mailed to your home, then you call for the appointment to be serviced. I ended up paying over $300 for an issue because of how they worded the diagnosis for authorization. It's their way of receiving more money than what AHS would've paid them. Lastly, the customer service is really bad (can't answer questions and annoyed and rude because I'm asking them to explain and justify the diagnosis). They're protocol is less than favorable. They continued to communicate via text messaging, even after I stated that I prefer calls so that I could ask questions. Companies like this one are with home warranty companies because they wouldn't receive as much work otherwise. As a result, they're overwhelmed by the job requests (causing late response times) and they are padding the diagnoses to receive more money for the job. Unfortunately, speaking with a supervisor only added more frustration because the customer service was also poor. I totally understand why their overall rating is 1.5. I'm updating on 7/11/23. My issue still has not been resolved. Once they finally came out, the wrong part had been ordered; thanks to their INEFFICIENT method of diagnosing the problem via video cam. That was 4 days ago. No one has contacted me to resolve the matter. I've called twice to only be on hold forever. I am currently on hold again, and I've been on hold for over an hour. I have already taken 2 days off from work to resolve this. Now, I have to take another day off for them to come back out to actually repair the issue. So fed up with American Home Shield and Whitney Plumbing & Electrical. Update on 7/13/23. My bathroom floor is covered with water from a leak under the sink on. When they came out on 7/11, I told them that there was a leak. He said that he didn't see one and didn't repair. They literally just left a couple of hours ago to repair a toilet that they didn't repair on 7/11 because a genius ordered the wrong parts. And now, that same leak that he "didn't see" has flooded my cabinet! This company is beyond horrible! The "plumbers" are incompotent. So, now I have to call them back out. Don't bother using this company! This company was selected by my home warranty provider. For a few days I noticed the floor drain in my basement would flood after doing a load of laundry or taking a shower. When Rob arrived he immediately was rude and unprofessional, asking if I could call my husband to see if he knew where the main line was, blatantly assuming I wouldn't know. I explained the issue I was experiencing and he jumped right into how much the warranty company wouldn't cover and how much more he'd have to do and how much extra I'd have to pay. I then asked about a camera being run down the line so look for an obstruction to which he waved off. I overheard him speaking on his phone stating "She made up the issue, it must be BS and she didn't know what she was talking about" he came in and again stated it wasn't making sense and that he should run the camera down the drain so that he "didn't get fired" (what I asked in the first place) the line was clean. I can't explain how/why but I wouldn't have made anything up and paid the $75 fee for service, that doesn't make any sense. Upon completion he asked for my signature and stated "if I weren't on the clock I'd tell you what I really think" to which I responded "you already have, it's obvious you don't believe there was an issue". This is just an example of the unprofessional, discriminatory behavior that women have to deal with on a regular basis.
