I am still plagued by the horrible experience I had at the At&T Store (F&N Shopping Center) back in…read moreAug 2017. The customer service was worse than anything I had ever experienced before. Brandon bantered back and forth with his co-worker and proceeded to engage with another customer all while setting up my new AT&T acct. His inattentiveness resulted in me walking out of the store totally unaware that my cell phone number had been changed. He was supposed to transfer my current number with Consumer Cellular over to At&T, but instead gave me a different phone number WITHOUT TELLING ME. The rest of my day was a disaster as this disruption in callers' ability to actually contact me caused not only me undue distress and problems, but problems for those callers! It was awful! Eventually, by that evening, I figured out that my number had been changed by Brandon. I went back to the AT&T store as soon as it opened the next day. I was met with arrogance instead of ownership of the shoddy customer service as Brandon tried hard to somehow blame Consumer Cellular (who I put on speaker phone to prove that they were not at fault at all) for the mishap. The whole experience was so intolerable that I decided I wanted nothing to do with AT&T and cancelled the acct. As if that aggravating experience wasn't enough, I proceeded to get bill upon bill for the cancelled acct despite many phone calls and online chat sessions in which I was repeatedly assured that the "acct was cancelled" and that "No bill would be generated". Eventually, months later, I got a letter from AT&T telling me to pay the bill or my credit would be damaged...on an acct that was closed within 24 hrs of opening AND in which I rec'd confirmation multiple times that it was cancelled and that I owed nothing. Despite yet another series of phone calls in an attempt to get AT&T to correct the problem of which they assured me they did, I then rec'd a letter from a collections agency. The balance due had gone up with claims I owed Activation Fees on TWO lines! These activation fees were news to me given I had ONE phone and I was told by Brandon that the ONLY fee for opening the acct was $5...NO mention of a $30 activation fee (X 2)! So, with 3 months passing since that brief, awful experience of opening/closing the acct, the situation had only gotten worse. I can't tell you how many times I have been told that "it's been taken care of"..."your acct is closed"..."your balance is $0"...etc. Yet, the ordeal never ends. Just yesterday morning I rec'd an automated message from AT&T telling me that my acct is in jeopardy and that I need to Press 1 to speak to a customer service rep! I hung up in disgust. There are other aggravating aspects to my 24 hr experience with AT&T that would make this already lengthy post even longer, but I will end it here. I am not a complainer by nature and I had no intention of writing a negative review, as a matter of fact, until now had never written a negative review about anything, but that automated message from AT&T yesterday was just the last straw.
