two pieces of sushi on a plate

Such a cozy neighborhood karaoke bar, most interesting was that the food menu was like a full restaurant menu. We came in on a Sunday evening so it was not busy at all, we chose a good sized room which was perfect for hubby and I. The songs were decent I was relieved that they had some new songs, they have Chinese, Japanese and Korean songs which are great for Asians. We ordered two bottles of small cold sake and pitcher of Sapporo, some food to share like wings, rice balls and takoyaki. Food was really delicious that we were surprised, drinks were reasonably priced, if you order enough food and drinks they wave the room fee too. The happy hour deals are great so it's good for locals to drink and sing. Glad we decided to try a local Japanese karaoke bar in South Bay, we really liked this place and would like to come here from time to time!

This karaoke bar is probably own/run by the Japanese. Their menu has many Japanese food, finger food, including Sushi. Drinks are offer with many selections of Japanese alcohol. I love Japanese beer and that was the drink I ordered with a few snacks. The setting of the bar is pretty standard, it has a few TVs in the area of the bar where customers pick songs and sings (Karaoke). Quiet a lot of choices of Japanese songs in addition to Western songs. Customers are enjoying drinks, eating, mingle/talking, & singing. Good place to hang out after work and spend times with your friends or co workers. They also provide rooms for special or private function. Its good if you do not want to be bothered with other customers/strangers. Esp. If you sucks in singing. I will say that many of the customers are pretty confident singing at the bar area. Good thing Simon Cowell from American Idol is not there... otherwise, he is gonna say its a "NIGHTMARE" If you want to relax, drinking, spending time with your friends, and practice your singing skill, its a good place to be. Go ahead and give it a try. Foods and drinks are pretty standard. Place is safe. Price is quiet reasonable. Services are good.

My wife and I enjoyed sing a song in the bar area. Luckily not so many customers so I song many songs. It's so much fun!

It is ever so comfortable and the bartenders and all of the staff are great. You will love it. They have these sweet cocktails like something you would get in Hawaii. Be careful, don't drink too much of them or a nasty hangover you will have. They have regular cocktails as well and some nice sodas. You will love the way the Hula Hula Room is decorated. It is just an escape from LA life. It is only open until midnight so keep that in mind. It can get crowded and I don't think they take reservations. Call them and ask. Oh, and you can have a wee sample of the cocktail before you order it. I have not had them all. I don't drink much. But this place is a great time.

It's literally walking distance from our hotel in Torrance -- so close we actually walked past it the first time without even realizing it was there. Super hidden, easy to miss. The space itself is small, and when you first walk in it doesn't hit you with an over-the-top tiki vibe right away. But once the drinks start coming out, it fully delivers. The glassware is so fun and themed -- I was obsessed with the flamingo cup and actually ended up buying a couple online since I couldn't take the real one home with me. Drink-wise, I stuck mostly to my usual zombie, which has this great earthy, cinnamon-y flavor that's just different from anything else -- does the trick every time (there's a two-drink max/minimum on it, which I respect). We also tried a Makahiki Mua and a Painkiller, both really solid. The Makahiki Mua had a fun flavor, kind of similar to a Painkiller, but the zombie is still my go-to. Service was pretty good overall -- the bartender stayed mostly in one corner of the bar, which actually worked in our favor since we got served fast. A couple of small quirks though: they only have a limited number of menus, so we kept having to pass one back and forth around the bar, which felt a little silly. They also seemed to be running low on drink cups at times, having to wash and rotate them back into use, which was an odd thing to notice at a bar this size. Also wish they had some food or snacks available, even something small -- but that's a minor gripe. Vibe-wise, this is easily one of my favorite tiki lounges I've been to -- doesn't quite topple Broken Compass Tiki for me, but it's up there. Fun, easy, great drinks, solid service despite the small hiccups, and a perfect spot if you're staying in the Torrance area. Would absolutely go back and would recommend it to anyone chasing that tiki lounge crawl.

We were thrilled to see a few menu options that were marked as vegan. Bonus points for being affordable! I completely missed their attached parking lot when I arrived and ended up parking across the street in the neighborhood, where there was ample free parking. When we arrived, the restaurant was about half full and there was live music occurring on the patio. We opted to sit inside where it was a little less noisy and there was a comfy and cozy booth calling our name. The vibe was great, with fun and eclectic decor. The service was really upbeat and friendly and our server was so kind and helpful. We asked him if the espresso martini had dairy in it (which I just discovered that is a thing at some places) and he double checked with the bartender to ensure there wasn't my dairy in it! I ordered that alongside a falafel wrap I must say, both of these worked so well together. The espresso martini was light and refreshing yet still had a bold flavor. The falafel was nice and crispy with a delectable inside and the tahini sauce was so rich and creamy. The meal felt indulgent yet hearty all at the same time. I left feeling so uplifted and relaxed all at the same time. Despite it being on the noisier side, I was still able to hear my friend well and it was such a great place for us to catch up. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely return the next time I'm in the area!

I ordered the pastrami on rye (basically a Reuben) which was good. I wish it had more meat and it was half sliced, half chopped. Theirs seems to be all chopped up and crisped, which gives it a nice texture and almost bacon-y vibe. Messy but good. I had a side salad which was also good. Overall our meal was great and there were TVs visible from anywhere you sat, which is perfect for a sports bar. My big gripe is being charged $1 for pickles to go with a sandwich. Maybe you get more if they put them directly on the sandwich, but they forgot mine so the pickles came in a ramekin. 6 pickle slices for $1.

With new ownership comes an affiliated new crowd coinciding w/ old crowd. You could cut the tension in the air w/ someone's pocket knife because you just felt at least one person was packing. I never felt the need to look over my shoulder regularly thru the night til now. Territorial is an understatement. It could be your first visit, and you could tell two different groups were there. Service was disappointing. A customer is a customer, but I noticed new ownership neglected old crowd to tend to her crowd or anything else to keep her "busy." Meanwhile, original bartenders were bending over backwards for everybody. We, in the old crowd, are familiar enough w/ each other for some small talk at the bar while waiting for drinks. They were as confused and shocked as I was about the service. I don't even want to mention what I saw in owner/staff interactions, but I'ma just leave it at sad. It was just sad. I'm not a regular regular, but Southland was the spot for my friends and me when we wanted a night out together for past couple years. Now, we're back to bar-hopping for a new spot because The Alley Bar ain't it. I'd give her benefit-of-the-doubt because she just picked up the place, but benefit would imply I saw an effort in keeping old crowd loyal while inviting new life, too--yeah, no benefit here. R.I.P. I got to visit Keegan's again recently when a friend was visiting from out of town. We had just grabbed dinner and boba and headed out here to hang out for Saturday night. We came close to 10pm and there was a bouncer at the door checking everyone's IDs. The place was relatively packed with several different celebrations and birthdays in their outdoor area that has all the fire pits. They had waiters coming around the outside tables but one could also go straight to the bar to place drink orders. There were several tvs around the bar area and I spotted a pool area towards the back of the outside area. Most of the fire pits seating was taken by large parties but there were some smaller tables, that my friend and I were able to sit at. We didn't get any food but I got to try my old favorite Lemon Drop - which was a nice, refreshing sweet treat for a Saturday night. I did quickly scan the food menu and it's a lot of traditional bar food like burgers and fries. The music for the night consisted of old school rap songs from the 2000s. It seemed perfectly catered to the crowd for the night that seemed to consist of folks in their 30s and a few folks in their early 40s. Overall visiting here took me back to when my friend celebrated her birthday. It's an overall chill spot . The crowd wasn't overly loud or rowdy and everyone was just out enjoying a Saturday night.
