two pieces of sushi on a plate

Such a cozy neighborhood karaoke bar, most interesting was that the food menu was like a full restaurant menu. We came in on a Sunday evening so it was not busy at all, we chose a good sized room which was perfect for hubby and I. The songs were decent I was relieved that they had some new songs, they have Chinese, Japanese and Korean songs which are great for Asians. We ordered two bottles of small cold sake and pitcher of Sapporo, some food to share like wings, rice balls and takoyaki. Food was really delicious that we were surprised, drinks were reasonably priced, if you order enough food and drinks they wave the room fee too. The happy hour deals are great so it's good for locals to drink and sing. Glad we decided to try a local Japanese karaoke bar in South Bay, we really liked this place and would like to come here from time to time!

This karaoke bar is probably own/run by the Japanese. Their menu has many Japanese food, finger food, including Sushi. Drinks are offer with many selections of Japanese alcohol. I love Japanese beer and that was the drink I ordered with a few snacks. The setting of the bar is pretty standard, it has a few TVs in the area of the bar where customers pick songs and sings (Karaoke). Quiet a lot of choices of Japanese songs in addition to Western songs. Customers are enjoying drinks, eating, mingle/talking, & singing. Good place to hang out after work and spend times with your friends or co workers. They also provide rooms for special or private function. Its good if you do not want to be bothered with other customers/strangers. Esp. If you sucks in singing. I will say that many of the customers are pretty confident singing at the bar area. Good thing Simon Cowell from American Idol is not there... otherwise, he is gonna say its a "NIGHTMARE" If you want to relax, drinking, spending time with your friends, and practice your singing skill, its a good place to be. Go ahead and give it a try. Foods and drinks are pretty standard. Place is safe. Price is quiet reasonable. Services are good.

I had such a great experience here that I already know I'll be back!…read more I ordered the chicken katsu curry plate, gangjung, a katsu sando, egg sando, and the strawberry sando, and every single item was delicious. The chicken katsu was the standout~ it was perfectly light and crispy on the outside while staying incredibly juicy on the inside. It had amazing flavor even on its own, but paired with the katsu sauce, it was absolutely next level. The rich curry sauce was also fantastic and went perfectly with the rice, making every bite satisfying. The gangjung was another winner, with a great crispy exterior coated in a sweet, garlicky sauce that kept me coming back for more. I took the katsu sando and egg sando home for later, and I had to finish with the strawberry sando, which was perfectly creamy with fresh, sweet strawberries. It was the ideal way to end the meal. Beyond the food, what really impressed me was the incredible value. The prices were very fair, the portions were generous, and the service was exceptionally warm and friendly. Everything came out quickly and piping hot, which made the experience even better. The also had catchy music playing in the background and it was peaceful in there during lunch time. Whether you're looking for a quick solo meal or a spot to bring friends, this place checks every box. I loved my visit and can't wait to come back. The private booths alone made me feel like I was signing a secret business deal, except the only thing I was negotiating was how much more food I could fit into my stomach. Every dish came out looking like it had been through a glow‑up montage. So delicious! * Unagi -- Melted in my mouth like it had a personal vendetta against being solid. Sweet, buttery, and dangerously addictive. * Katsu -- Crispy enough to be heard across the booth. If this dish had a crunchy Japanese category, this would be the headliner. * Spicy tuna -- The perfect balance of heat and flavor. Not "call the fire department" spicy, but definitely "I see you trying to impress me" spicy. * Seared tuna, Elegant, silky, and so fresh it probably had plans later. * Uni pasta, Listen... this dish is a commitment. Creamy, ocean‑kissed, and luxurious. It's the kind of pasta that makes you sit back and reevaluate your life choices, in a good way. * Sake - WOW ...My delicious sake was smooth, floral, and paired with everything like it had studied my taste buds in advance. The staff here operate with polite ninja efficiency. They appear, refill, deliver, and disappear before you can even say "arigato." Not rushed, not pushy, just clean, respectful Japanese hospitality that makes you feel taken care of. "Always remember the energy you give....is the energy you get in return!" The private booths are the star of the show. Cozy, warm lighting, and enough privacy to talk chisme without worrying about the table next to you judging your life choices. It's intimate without being cramped, like a little wooden cocoon of comfort. Kagura is one of those Torrance gems that hits every category: authentic food, quiet comfort, top‑tier service, and dishes that make you want to come back before you've even left the parking lot, oh and let me remind you how small that parking lot is, be prepared. If you're into Japanese cuisine that feels both homey and elevated, this is your spot. Living life one bite at a time...go and enjoy yourself! Miguel C.

Today we decided to revisit the restaurant for old time's sake. Inside, the main wall was repainted with a new mural. The annual LA Marathon posters, pinned by the staff who participated in the events, were also gone. Nonetheless, it retained its traditional izakaya décor with its counter seating alongside some regular tables. The staff were all new but still very courteous and brought the menu and water right away. New items were added but the core dishes remained the same. For this visit, we ordered our regular items and they arrived in 10 minutes: Eboshi Mini Trio with Shio Ramen, Fried Rice and Gyoza: The fried rice was still top notch, with slightly firm texture, not too oily, and pleasantly seasoned. The Shio Ramen with its clear broth was nicely savory. The thin noodles were cooked perfectly, and the chashu pieces were tender. To complement the set, the gyozas with their delicate wraps had nicely burnt bottoms, and flavorful fillings. Champon Ramen: A complex ramen with an assortment of meat, veggies and seafood. There were sliced pork pieces, shrimps, squids, cabbage, onions, snow peas and many more. The clear broth was quite savory and enriched by oil from sauteed ingredients. The noodles had a very nice texture and were a tad al dente. We were amazed that after all these years, the restaurant retained its original taste and flavor. We found out the reason why while exiting the restaurant: The young cook from two decades ago is now running the open kitchen as head chef. Great food and still reasonable prices. It was totally worth revisiting.

The first time I ate here, it took maybe 20-25 minutes for me to get my food. This time, I had my food in around 10 minutes. I was very impressed with this big decrease in wait time. This time I tried the new Hokkaido cream pasta, which tasted super fresh and made to order. The cream was warm and rich without feeling over the top like some other cream-based pasta sauces from Italian/American places. I liked the addition of spinach and mushrooms as well. The restaurant is in a food court with a few other options, and a decent amount of seating. It's also inside of a grocery store, so if you're with a picky group, everyone could theoretically order something different and eat together. I remember I was a little put off by the anime branding of the restaurant at first (it seemed a little childish to me) but Pasta Stories is really a solid wafu pasta place, and I love that they focus on different regional flavors of Japan.
