Astro karaoke is a no fuss Korean karaoke joint with rooms for rent and some food and drink. The rooms were pretty affordable and the machines have a pretty limited list of songs. Many of the songs we were looking for weren't offered. But for the price I can't complain! They charge per person per hour. The food options are also limited. We got fries, onigiri, sausage and pizza. The pizza was good but I wish they had more options like wings and more finger foods. The drinks were also great and would recommend their jelly drink! read more

Such a cozy neighborhood karaoke bar, most interesting was that the food menu was like a full restaurant menu. We came in on a Sunday evening so it was not busy at all, we chose a good sized room which was perfect for hubby and I. The songs were decent I was relieved that they had some new songs, they have Chinese, Japanese and Korean songs which are great for Asians. We ordered two bottles of small cold sake and pitcher of Sapporo, some food to share like wings, rice balls and takoyaki. Food was really delicious that we were surprised, drinks were reasonably priced, if you order enough food and drinks they wave the room fee too. The happy hour deals are great so it's good for locals to drink and sing. Glad we decided to try a local Japanese karaoke bar in South Bay, we really liked this place and would like to come here from time to time! read more

This is a true Japanese American dive bar. "Ghetto Fabulous" are the two words that come to mind.. along with BEST CHICKEN WINGS EVER. We randomly picked this location for my cousin's "low key" 40th bday celebration. A small handful of friends and family ~ gathered from East Coast, San Diego, Orange County and LA. Yelp led us here under the search terms "alcohol+kareoke+reservations"... and we were not disappointed. I set the reservation in advance via someone named Daniel~ who was extremely nice via telephone. I was grateful that he recommended we reserve the room for three hours.. because we enjoyed every ear splitting minute of it. The establishment is tucked away partially in a small neighborhood with small business around it.. no parking lot but we were able to find street parking pretty easily on a Friday night.. it's cute.. nondescript and humble. Walk in and you'll find yourself in front of a bar and with random folks doing bar kareoke.. plenty of booze on the wall and some but not a whole lot of seating. We zoomed straight back to our already singing (and slightly drunk) birthday group.. past a few rooms of other groups doing private kareoke.. to the very back near the bathrooms. The room has a japanese kareoke system.. decent screen.. it's own air conditioning (which you can turn to be ice cold).. and a pretty decent selection of songs. I had personally picked this location knowing that I was going to need food. We ordered a bunch of random things.. fries.. the pasta everyone reviews about (which was indeed VERY tasty)... but THESE CHICKEN WINGS. I don't know what it is about the batter, but the daymn chicken wings were hot, salty, crispy, fatty goodness wrapped around the bone. We ordered at least 50 wings easy that night... kept the booze coming.. kept belting out the horrible singing.. and WINGS. *raises wing to the air~ The service was great. It was pretty busy for them out front.. but they did their best to accommodate. Sure, some orders of food did get forgotten.. the drinks were meh (calpico poured into a pint glass with no ice.. for that price... ehhhh.... and we ordered one bottle of sake that wasn't all that yummy).... but all in all.. nothing to really complain about. They honestly tried to make sure we were having a good time.. even brought a tambourine when one of the tipsy members of our group asked for one! We reciprocated in tip for sure. Surprisingly.. even though our reservation was to end at 11:30 PM.. there were still incoming groups! Although we had to clear the room at 11:30 as per our reservation, they weren't too rude about us slowly dragging out inebriated asses out of the room.. It was a great night.. a good venue.. BOMB ASS CHICKEN WINGS... and a fun time had by all. Came here to celebrate my friend's birthday but there was a miscommunication between the staff and we did not get a private room as the other ones were already booked. We were given a makeshift spot in their bar area and shared our karaoke time with other bar patrons. Not sure if this spot is used to smaller crowds but several of us needed waters throughout the night but they had run out of glasses so we drank out of shot glasses instead. I think most of us had a pretty good time even though it wasn't what some of us had hoped for/promised. Would definitely recommend calling the day of just to make sure that they have you room if you made prior reservations. Food: Only got to try a couple of snacks here and there but I would DEF recommend the potato wedges. They came piping HOT and were so delicious. They remind me of the potato wedges from Ralph's. I don't care, you can judge me..I go to Ralph's sometimes just for potato wedges cuz i'm fat. Parking situation: This bar is located on the corner of a residential area. As mush as I hate to give any restaurant a 1 star, this particular night at this restaurant is well deserved. We decided to come here for some Japanese beer and food. We checked on yelp to find out what time this restaurant opened on Friday 1/3/2020 which is stated at 5:30 pm so we arrived at 5:45 pm. We opened the doors to find the restaurant was completely empty so we walked straight to our usual table. After several minutes of waiting, the waiter came and brought us menus and asked what we would like to drink so we chose to have a pitcher of Asahi. The waiter came back to our table and asked if we were ready to order. My friend ordered the Carbonera which we had already overheard the 2 waiters talking amongst themselves saying "We only have enough Carbonera for 2 servings" so I told my friend "it's you're lucky day". Now it was my turn to order so I chose the beef bowl. The waiter came back to our table to inform me "I'm sorry, we have no beef". Huh?? How do you not have beef? ok on to the next choice I guess!!! So I ordered the chicken wings only for the waiter to come back to our table to let me know they do not have any Ranch for the dipping sauce. I asked him so what other dipping sauces do you have? He stated to me "you can use ketchup". I have never heard of anyone using ketchup for their chicken wings, maybe for chicken nuggets but not wings. He then went behind the counter, picked up the Ranch dressing bottle and showed me the very little they had and asked if this was OK? Running out of food options, I went ahead and used what little ranch they did have. After eating the wings, I was still hungry so I had to flag down the waiter since he never came back to our table once he brought us our food. Once the waiter came to our table, I asked for spicy tuna sushi only for him to tell me they do not have anymore spicy tuna......huh??? That's like going to KFC and they don't have chicken. I told the waiter "are you kidding" and he stated "no, because of the holidays, we ran out of most of our food". I told him "don't tell me because of the holidays because every time I come here, you don't have half you're inventory that's on the menu". I then tried to order shrimp tempura which to my surprise they actually had it but then I asked for Siracha to eat with it and of course I was told "we do not have Siracha". It's so sad that not only did they not have just about everything to eat on their menu but the service here was horrible. I can understand if the place was busy and filled with people but by the time we got up to leave there was a total of 2 other tables and a family of 4 in the karoake room who decided to call uber eats to deliver them food from another restaurant because this place had absolutely nothing on their menu. The waiter never even came to clean up our table, never came to ask us if we wanted anything else. I had to get up and ask for another pitcher of beer and also once we were done, I had to also get up and ask for the check or else we would have been there all night. Once the waiter brought the check, I got up and gave it to and stated "since I never seen you tonight, here's my credit card now and let's handle this". He then took my check and card and from behind the counter screamed out to me "is there anything else you need". At this point all I wanted to do was just pay for the bill and get out of this place and come back when you have new waiters who actually care for their job and not talk about each customer behind the counter for others to over hear. We should have just stuck to our original plans by going next door to blackhorn pub, I'm sure they had all their menu items in stock. This was... an experience, to say the least. Let's start with the drunk waiter/bartender. Normally in a dive, i'm cool with that, but after waiting an hour for a california roll (yes, the simple one), i just found it to be too much. First, we waited at LEAST 15 minutes to be served. Once I began ordering, he cut me off to go grab a pen and paper... funny enough, to write down the order. I'll get there. Drinks came out eventually, followed by our appetizer, several minutes apart mind you. Followed by another 35 min wait for our entrees. My dragon roll came out first. It was okay, I enjoyed it to say the least. But where was the california roll? After anxiously waiting around I decided to call over our drunk (or at least tipsy) waiter. He literally goes, "OH NO! The california roll!" Almost another 15 minutes later, this dude walks over and goes, "so I rolled you a fresh roll, but the rice was left out all day, so it'll be crumbly and crunchy. I can give you this one for free or you can wait 30 minutes for fresh rice. Our kitchen is closed though". Dumbfounded, we took the "fresh" stale roll. At least it's free, right? Nope. The bill comes out not only with the charge, but an additional ROOM FEE. WE SAT AT THE BAR. ?!?!?! thankfully, his co-worker (woman with eyeliner, very sweet) took care of us and fixed the bill. My god, I have never been moved so deeply like this, to write a review, but this was an EXPERIENCE. Go to sushi delight up the street, awesome sushi and service, presumably not crunchy. This karaoke bar is probably own/run by the Japanese. Their menu has many Japanese food, finger food, including Sushi. Drinks are offer with many selections of Japanese alcohol. I love Japanese beer and that was the drink I ordered with a few snacks. The setting of the bar is pretty standard, it has a few TVs in the area of the bar where customers pick songs and sings (Karaoke). Quiet a lot of choices of Japanese songs in addition to Western songs. Customers are enjoying drinks, eating, mingle/talking, & singing. Good place to hang out after work and spend times with your friends or co workers. They also provide rooms for special or private function. Its good if you do not want to be bothered with other customers/strangers. Esp. If you sucks in singing. I will say that many of the customers are pretty confident singing at the bar area. Good thing Simon Cowell from American Idol is not there... otherwise, he is gonna say its a "NIGHTMARE" If you want to relax, drinking, spending time with your friends, and practice your singing skill, its a good place to be. My friends and I were out and wanted to still spend more time together, and it's like we found a gem right in our backyard! Service is great, they are so nice here (if you're happy, then they will be too!). This is one of the first karaoke bars we've been to that has food as amazing as them. Reserved the large private room this past Friday for a coworker 's 40th birthday party. It was soooo much fun. Our party was running late...I booked the room for 6, but we technically didn't start until 7pm. The staff were extremely accommodating. Food was good. I was starving when I first got there and ordered the beef bowl, california rolls, and meat dumplings before our guests arrived. Everything was delicious. Later I tried the fried chicken wings and cheese pizza, super delicious!!! Music selection was great, and the system was easy to use. The service button wasn't very useful, so most of the time...we just went to the bar to order. All in all it was a great time and very fun. read more

I frequent the Torrance location way more than the Lomita location. The Good: Very authentic Japanese karaoke bar, staff is really nice, open mic karaoke where you can sing at the bar ($1.50 per song I think), private karoake rooms, lot of Japanese beers to choose from, they serve Japanese food (ramen, takoyaki, etc) This location is a lot smaller compared to the Lomita location. It has a more hometown feel, and I can tell this is more a neighborhood bar where everyone knows each other, which is really cool. The Bad: I can't really think of anything bad to be honest. I wish they had a parking lot? But, there's plenty of street parking, so yeah. My Verdict: I like this place lot. The vibes are good. The food is good, and the drinks are good. read more

Gotta say that this is a cute little place for some Jap food, karaoke, and/or alcohol. Their karaoke prices are simply awesome. It's $5 per person per person per hour for the private booths. However, for every $5 you spend on food, it deducts $5 from the karaoke bill from one person. For the bar, it's $1.50 per song and you can sing one song for free if you purchase a beverage worth $2.50. The booths are fairly large and they sport two wireless mics. In addition to this, you're allowed to bring your own food to the private booths, but you're not allowed to bring drinks. My biggest gripe with their karaoke is the fact that you need to know what songs you want to sing. There is no list of songs to choose from; you have to search for them all manually. They also didn't have Mulan's "Be a Man." *sad face* The place has no private lot and you're gonna have to park on the street. This small mom 'n pop shop isn't too popular so it shouldn't be terribly difficult to find parking in the residential area. Lastly, even though my date and I spent an hour in the karaoke booth, we only had to pay a total of $5.44 for our time there. I guess either they miscalculated or this place is cheaper than I thought. And hey, the bathroom is nice. read more

Adorable comfortable space yet stylish! I really dig this place. A friend took me here for lunch and it went great! We went around a good time, there was near by parking and no people. The service was great! The Chef was the waiter, which was new for me. I got the salmon salad and it was delicious! I dream of this salad! Awesome Japanese spot in Lomita! Friend suggested that we come here on a Friday night since we always pass by it. Astro Karaoke is actually a "karaoke bar" but just so happens the night we went, they didn't have karaoke, which didn't bother us at all since we just wanted to go to a place to relax and have a few drinks. First off, I love any place with a good Kirin on draft. They actually have Sapporo and Asahi as well and those are all good options! Didn't see a pitcher option but per class, the price isn't bad. Astro is actually more of a sake bar so there are many many choices here. The list is quite extensive, and you can get a big bottle to share or try a flight of sake. Either way, you can't go wrong! If you just want some sake to go along with some grub, they also have hot house sake. Warning, it is HOT. It's served in a piping hot metal sake bottle. Very cool. Of course, had to get some snacks and Astro has more of an izakaya feel so decided to go for the spicy garlic edamame and the takoyaki. The spicy garlic edamame is straight up addicting. Edamame tossed in a spicy oil mixed with chopped garlic. The garlic bits are all crunchy and just enough spice from the oil to give it a kick. Absolutely the perfect beer food! The takoyaki was good too, nothing too crazy You get 5 octopus balls, which disappeared quick as soon as it arrived. Definitely will go back one day and try more of their food items (maybe even lunch). The service was bombtastic. There was only one guy in there when we first arrived. He seriously did everything and t wasn't until it was close to 12ish did a girl come in. Even with just him, he was quick and attentive to all the guests, which I consider to be quite hard when there are patrons at the bar chatting it up with him. The place is small. Very small. 2-3 tables and then seats along the bar. There's also a LCD TV on the wall that plays sports channels which I like. Because it's small, it has a neighborhood spot feel to it and the place is cleaaaaan. The guy was constantly wiping the counter, his work space, and glassware. Since it is small, the place got filled up pretty fast, mostly with Japanese patrons (always a good sign). I really really like this place. I came here on a random night because my friend and I were kind of bored and he suggested the place. I had no idea what to expect because I've never really been to a Japanese karaoke bar. It was absolutely great. The atmosphere is so fun. The people there drink and sing and have fun. The bartender is extremely good at singing... he's really a hard act to follow. And yes, this means the bartender sings and interacts with the people at the bar. The bar itself isn't too big. There's a bar and a few booths where people can sit. There are two TVs in the bar area. The song selection is pretty good. There's Japanese, Korean, and American songs. The remote is touchscreen, which is awesome. During happy hour, I believe it's $1.50 per song. During regular hours I think it's $2.50 a song. I haven't used the room there, but it's not too expensive either. I think if you buy an alcoholic beverage over $5, you get an hour free. And it's $5 per person for an hour, which isn't bad at all. You have to park on the side street. Last time I went it wasn't too hard to find parking. Because the establishment is so small I don't think parking ever gets ridiculously hard. I came here pretty late after doing the shipwreck hike because it was pretty much the only place open around 10:45pm. We were seated right away at a table for two and the bartender brought one menu for us to share. Their menu is interesting in that it has a large variety. There were a lot of small dishes and snacks, along with pizza, pasta, rice bowls and rolls, quite an eclectic mix. They finally brought us water after 5 minutes of us looking at the menu, and by then we were already ready to order but he went back to the bar and didn't come back to take our order for another almost 10 minutes, and they weren't even busy so that was not excusable. I ordered the Mentaiko pasta, which is cod roe pasta, and I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was really good! The pasta was al dente and coated in cod roe, but it wasn't overwhelming. I'm not sure if there was other sauce or seasoning with it, but it tasted fresh and light, while still being very satisfying. My friend ordered the Mentaiko & Mayo roll, which was basically a California Roll with a bit of cod roe inside as well. The avocado was not ripe enough, and you could barely taste the cod roe, disappointing and would not recommend. He also got the spicy tuna rice bowl, which looked quite unappetizing to me, but he seemed to enjoy it so I guess it was good. I often go to Astro since it is very family like and I can relax. Customers and bar tenders are very friendly and easily make friends there. It is Japanese Karaoke place and they have good Japanese foods too, so if you want to eat Japanese Sushi rolls or Pastas, drinks, it is very good place to go. Space is not very big, so they will welcome you like family, and there is 3 Karaoke Box(rooms) back side of the bar, so you can go there with friends. ( you can make appointment for new year party or Christmas party too with great deals) If you order drinks, Box karaoke will be very cheap like $5 per hr. (Other Karaoke Place is usually $25 per hr) You can sing Japanese songs, English songs, Chinese Songs, and Korean songs. A nice, quaint Japanese place to relax, eat and have some sake. Astro Karaoke isn't really a karaoke bar, its more like a small restaurant, that has a bar. The atmosphere is very relaxed, since the restaurant can only fit maybe 20 people at most. The prices are a bit more for alcohol, but they do have a collection of different sakes. I would suggest getting the sake sample ($15 for a premium sake sampler). The sakes have their own unique flavors and they don't burn and sting like what most people think. They are generally sweet, and have some type of fruit flavoring. I didn't get to try any food, but this place is a great place to hang out read more

This is the coolest karaoke spot. Went to sing some songs and eat food, and they let us have our own room until 11pm for $5/hour per person. Our alcohol we baught pays for the room time( as long as there are no reservations for the room). Since there was a reservation at 11 we had to join everyone I the bar area which was actually more exciting than having a room. There were really great singers and they had everyone singing along. BTW, I love the BEEF BOWL! Bartenders were super cool! I will be coming back more and more! read more

TIP: Make sure to call in advance-they don't have a lot of rooms so make sure you are guarantee a spot before you drive down. Came here for my friend's birthday on a Friday night and had such a good time! I have to say how amazing it is to find a karaoke place that actually serves REAL FOOD and not just chips and alcoholic drinks. Their CHICKEN WINGS, delicious, their fries also good. I would skip on their rice balls though because it was way too much rice, and just a little bit of salmon. As for the karaoke-they had a lot of newer songs which were always nice and the room was spacious and the couches were comfy. They turned the AC on and it felt so nice because we all know how it is being stuffed in a room with a lot of people,, and the ventilation sucks lol. Also there were so technical difficulties with the microphones and the guy fixing it gave us an hour free :) Make sure you come during happy hours for their special deals. I had reserve a birthday party for my bf and my sistah in sepulveda location..winona had called us in advance and told us they overbooked so instead she moved us to this location they waived the fee and gave us a bigger room. big enough to dance around.everything turned out good. we stayed for 4 and 1/2 hours..we even met some cool peeps..they have 3 karaoke rooms and separate bars in front..they also have karaoke at the bar..drinks pretty pricey though but they give good service and attend to all our needs so I'm satisfied..parking is on the residence area but we didn't have trouble finding one. we will definitely come back again! read more
