Grande's customer care is good to excellent but you can only care for a very poor set of products so much. The cable produces constant hesitations and pixilation in the viewing experience. As far as internet access was concerned...the worst. Having been a product manager for AT&T Internet 20 years ago, I know that redundancies should be the norm and maintenance should not interrupt services. Grande uses network maintenance outages on upgrading and maintaining the network.....FOR 6 HOURS?!?!?!?! Every network whould have backup/redundancy that they can switch the service over to when doing so. Guess Grande is more than 20 years behind in what is an industry standard. Oh...but wait....customer care stated that "the engineers are doing the best that they can do". If this is their best they should be fired! read more

RUN...do not walk away from this one. We were Direct TV customers for 10 years and were Time Warner customers for a little while. Time Warner was ok. Direct TV was AWESOME. We got everything DirectTV had for about $150 per month. We moved into an apartment due to a job transfer and could not stay with Direct TV and was FORCED to go with Grande Communications. We now pay over $200 per month for cable, phone and internet. Sounds good, right.....wrong. We have been with them since March 2015 and had to call them out almost every other week for technical issues. Their equipment is refurbished and "craps out" on the regular. Their fastest internet is intermittent at best. They have regular times when ALL services go out for them to "update" their network...usually from 6pm to 6am. When they give you credit, you have to call and ask for it and it doesn't show up unless you call them again. Hold times are over an hour. When supervisors are asked for they may or may not call you back. They do not have on demand services for the Flower Mound area and as far as PPV, they have 10 ADULT channels and only 3 regular PPV movie channels....with NO guide to tell you when things are coming on. They only have channels 799-976 as HD channels and the rest are regular viewing channels. AND...you don't get all the HD channels without paying an additional $12 per month. The problem here is that Flower Mound...although a suburb of the DFW area, only has Time Warner, DISH and Direct TV for most of their houses in the area but not the apartments and Grande has a monopoly on the apartments in the area and they are treating their customers very badly. Grande Communications' Internet service is sub par; when it goes down, it takes the company too long to dispatch a crew to fix the problem. I live in an apartment complex that provides Internet through Grande and, in my 4 years at this complex, I've noticed that the Internet service goes down for days whenever there's a power outage, which is once again the case. I have been without Internet service for an entire weekend, and I'm told the problem won't be resolved until Monday afternoon. When I first reported the problem, I was told that "technicians were working on it," yet they could not give me an ETA as to when the service would be up and running again. I called the next morning, and they still couldn't provide an ETA. I called again later that day and was told that they didn't even have a ticket for technicians to fix the problem, so a ticket was finally made and I was finally given an ETA for Monday afternoon. I'm surprised that this problem wasn't given a higher priority considering that it concerns an entire apartment complex of people with no Internet service. Save yourself the headache by avoiding Grande Communications if at all possible. read more

Two years ago, this would have been a five star review. I've had grande since 2012 and they were fantastic originally. They still have probably the best internet for the price...kind of. The reason I say kind of is because you have to watch them constantly to make sure they aren't giving you weird charges or changing your plan without your input. At some point my plan went up from $45 to $62. This is pretty big jump, so I asked them about it and they told me their rates just went up. I distinctly remember asking them if they put me on a different plan, and them saying no, that was just the new price. I understand price hikes happens, so I didn't really think anything else about it. Today, I happened to look at their prices and discovered that the person who told me that was lying, and their rates did not go up. They just put me on their most expensive plan, without my input, and then lied to me about it when I asked about it. It's worth mentioning here that when they bill you, the bill doesn't describe what plan you are on. It just says "internet". Also periodically I would get $6 charges were never clearly explained, but after a point it just isn't worth arguing over $6. It's really too bad, they used to be great and have great customer service. Now they are just shady. Edit: So...it turns out I was wrong and this was all due some billing thing that I still don't understand (I was being billed for renting a modem, and somehow I hadn't been before, even though I've always been renting it). I've been a cable tv customer for about a year. Service has been good until recently when Grande started doing network upgrades in my neighborhood. I started having signal problems. A service tech came to my house several times during the course of 1 week; initially to rule out problems at my house and later to verify I still had signal loss. On the first visit the tech told me they were doing upgrades in my area and that may be related to my signal loss. They ruled out any issues at my house, told me they would contact the network team to work the problem from that end and get back to me with an update. We went through this several times; the first couple times nobody ever got back in touch with me. Was any work done to try to resolve my problem over the first 4 or 5 days? I will never know. I had to keep calling back to remind Grande I still had a problem. After about 6 days of this I had had enough and I switched back to Direct TV. The only reason I left Direct TV was cost - their service and customer service were always 1st class. Years prior I had also been a long time Time Warner customer with average service and customer service. A day after I signed back with Direct TV Grande did actually resolve the issue but it was too late. It's a shame because I was considering moving my internet to Grande as well as they are the first in Austin to offer Gigabit internet. I have no plans to use Grande again. They really need to work on their customer service and problem resolution time. read more

Service in unreliable - often goes out. When we try to call in we are told we can't speak to an account rep - we have to wait for them to call us back. Two days later, still no call. When we call back we are told there is nothing they can do, they are busy, and we will just have to wait. Meanwhile, we are losing business. The best option in North Dallas for Internet when the only other option is ATT non Fiber service for Internet. Grande is cheaper than ATT and about 20 times faster. Also the speeds promised are held on speed tests when your computer is hard wired. Coming from TWC Grande tech support is amazing when Grande has an outage they do not blame your cable modem or your router they give you the straight up directly reply: We have an outage in XXX city and are aware of it, and sorry for the issue. Unlike TWC which first will blame your router then cable modem then ask you to check the cable modem lights then finally tell you wait we have an outage. read more

I just experienced the worst customer service. 4 weeks ago I called Grande to see if my new home was serviceable for internet. The person I spoke to said they would send a technician out to double check. By the end of the day, I got a call confirming that they could provide internet service they would just need to extend the wire from the street pole to my home but that it wouldn't be a problem and we were in the service area. I got the appointment scheduled for early the following week and the rep told me she had noted what needed to be done so that everything was ready. Well the following week I leave work to meet the technician at my house. After a bit he comes to me and let's me know that the wire extension had not been done and that he couldn't do it. He said he submitted a ticket for this and that I should get a call in the next 24 - 48 hours. Never got a call so I followed up. The new rep said they were still waiting to hear back on the ticket but that I should hear back in the next 24 hours. A call never came and then it was the holidays. I called again last week and got the same response. I called again today, 4 weeks after the initial request. They didn't have an update and did not see any response on the ticket so I told them I no longer wanted service through Grande. My boyfriend called back shortly after to inquire further. After being on hold for a while, they let him know that someone would be getting back to him within 30 - 45 minutes. We got no call. So I called back again earlier this evening to follow up and they said they submitted another ticket and we should hear back tomorrow. At this point we are both frustrated but my boyfriend wants to get to the bottom of this so he calls again. After explaining to a new rep everything that has happened, again, the rep says that they got a response on the ticket 30 minutes ago that said our address was not serviceable "because the technician doesn't think the cable will reach from the pole" (which is two doors down and other providers have already run from the same pole). After saying it was serviceable from the beginning, after 6 calls from our end and no calls or check ins from their end and no one able to provide an update, after FOUR weeks, that's what they tell us. I came to grande from time warner, and I was very excited at first at NOT having to deal with Time Warner's incredibly poor customer service. More of the same here at Grande. My internet was dropping connection for more than three months, on and off. I had quite a few techs come out to try to fix it, and none of them did anything remotely useful. Finally, I did get a tech who at least temporarily got it to work as designed. The reason for the failure? Grande's incompetence in figuring out what internet speed I was metered for. Meanwhile, I'm losing money by having to take time off work to meet the techs, and deal with the incredibly rude customer care reps. I can't wait to jump ship to Google fiber, as soon as its available. read more

I called them to upgrade my plan from 50 mbps internet, to the get it all 200 plan advertised on their site for $99 a month. I was told that price is only for new customers, and my price would be $130. I hate when companies treat new customers better than current ones. I get that they want to give incentive to sign up, but where's my incentive to stay? All this within a month of them shutting off my service for a week because of a box audit and some faded numbers on my line. Wonderful alternative to the giants like Time Warner who treat customers like dirt and have more service disruptions. Only giving 4 stars because they don't have enough techs- I had to wait almost a week to first get internet service turned on. This ISP does not offer static IP addresses to residential customers... a basic service that more than 90% of other ISPs offer for around $10/month. When I inquired about it, their customer service blew me off until I asked them to escalate the request. I was later told that I would have to convert my service to a business service to receive a static IP even though I live in a house and I'm not using my Internet for business. As an IT professional who has worked with many ISPs over the last 15 years I can tell you that this was very unprofessional service. I also learned I'm being charged $11.99/month for their $50 modem. What a scam! Find another ISP if you can. At the very least, buy your own modem and take the other one back to Grande. Guess I'll be using Dynamic DNS to work around their lack of proper service offerings. As soon as a better ISP comes to this area, I'll be dropping this ISP quickly. read more

Their hi-speed internet has very long lag spikes often like 5-15 secs a few times per hour. I play LoL and Starcraft and those lag spikes cost me games. Also they don't allow p2p file sharing, they will send a letter in the mail threatening to cut your service off. read more

If I could give a worse review I would. I first got Grande about 3 years ago, and was pleased at first. After the first year they continued to increase their fees, and at this point have increased 75%. Before moving to Waco I had AT&T service, which isn't provided in my current area now, but AT&T is WAY better and cheaper. Grande is a joke and will continue to raise prices on you. DO NOT USE THEM. I kept getting increases and fees on my bill, and kept calling to reduce the service. Also, I paid for channels that stopped coming in and Grande did not refund my money. My technical issues were eventually resolved. It required having a Grande Technician come out and join me in speaking with my apartment manager as well as having a district sales manager on the phone. The frustration was two fold, Grande could have been more clear with me on what I needed to discuss with the apartment complex, and second, the apartment manager could have been less difficult. To Grande's credit, the technicians who came out were all nice and tried to give me a general idea of what I needed to do. Grande should consider having some type of faxable form that clearly spells out what sort of work needs to be performed as well as what type of permission is required from an apartment manager. Simply telling me to get written consent from the complex was beyond frustrating. How was I to answer the concerns and questions posed by the apartment complex? Who was I to direct them to were they to ask for someone to clarify? These were the questions I was faced with forcing me to return to Grande empty handed, bouncing back and forth. My experience with Grande was incredibly poor; I was scheduled to have internet installed in my home and even confirmed that I would receive a phone call when the technician was on the way. I clearly told the person that took my order I get off of work at 5pm and will be available until 5:30. Then I got a call from the technician saying he wanted to come at noon so I explained again I will not be home until 5:30. He then confirmed ok no problem I can come then. I got home before 5:30 and he had left a 'sorry we missed you' card. Upon calling them, all representative were incredibly dismissive and offered no solution, I was passed to several departments and brushed off for over 1 hour. The customer service I was provided was "the technician reassigned your install to another technician and didn't put a note to be there after 5:30, sorry this happened to you but we can reschedule for next week." I was referred to Grande by the coordinator at the apartment complex that I live at and will be meeting with them to share my experience & ensure that they no longer recommend Grande to their incoming guests. My opinion" AVOID THIS "BUSINESS !" I am disabled and on a fixed income took advantage of their promo for $59.99 50MB Internet along with Basic cable. 2 weeks later I realized that I could not afford, nor happy with the service as the local channels were going in and out at times, same experience I had with my OTA Antenna. Upon cancellation I was given the news that I incurred a $30 returned check fee, Agent stated that "the bank used, could not be located" now I have had the same checking account and routing number for years and had plenty of money to cover the check. The only other option so stated by the agent was "the check information was entered incorrectly" So I stated "I am being charged for someone else's error?" Agent then stated "well you did enjoy the service for almost a month" with no relation to a bogus charge. So instead of owning up to the mistake and withdrawing the charge, they are still charging me with this charge, I have now contacted the BBB to assist me with this fraudulent charge and I am writing this to let others know of the poor treatment and even worse business practices by Grande communications. read more

I have subscribed to three different cable/internet/phone providers in the Central Austin area, and Grande so far has been the absolute best. First of all, their customer service is excellent. I have rarely had to sit on hold for longer than a couple of minutes. With the other cable/internet/phone providers, I often spent longer than 15 minutes on hold. Second, their service has been consistent for me. Because I live in a shady area, satellite dishes would often not work as well as they should. If there was a storm, then we lost service completely. Overall, I have been very satisfied with Grande, and I have not had the problems I experienced with satellite and the other cable/internet/phone provider. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

The absolute worst cable, phone, internet service I have ever had in my life. It's like dinosaur ages of TWC. They messed up my order, billed me almost twice as much as I was quoted my bill would be every month; and always have some stupid reason for why it's different every single month. I ordered the triple package, then was billed for each service, again, on the very same bill. I've worked in accounting all my life and have never seen such a messed up way of billing. If I get my bill, and it's say $200 (and that is what is written on the bill), when they go to draw the money from my account, which might be days later, they bill me for more, because I've rented a couple of movies since the bill was printed. I'm going to take all my bills and file a complaint with the Atty General's Office, and let them explain it to them, and see if the Atty General agrees with their billing practices, and charges. They get no stars, at all, from me!!! DON'T GET THIS CABLE SERVICE! AND IF IT'S THE ONLY ONE THAT YOU CAN USE WHERE YOU ARE MOVING TO, MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE! I called to set up service and was told that I couldn't proceed without proving that I had just moved in by supplying them with my lease. This was due to the fact that the complete stranger who lived here before me apparently never paid his bill. When I complained that the previous tenant had nothing to do with me and I wasn't going to go out of my way like that to give them my business, they were rude and unhelpful. For the love of god, DO NOT USE GRANDE. my boyfriend and I had them for a year. Our internet was poor at best. Upon moving out, we decided to switch internet providers. I paid my final bill and was told that I would receive a refund for the balance of that month mailed to my new address. After about a month of not receiving anything, I emailed Grande several times (I can, of course, no longer log on to their website to view my account details, and refuse to sit on hold with customer service for god knows how long). I never heard anything back from them. I am home visiting family for Thanksgiving at the moment and received a call at my mom's house from a collection agency inquiring about an unpaid debt. I have decent credit and no outstanding debt- so I considered this odd. Perhaps just a scam? I thought. But, on the off chance that it wasn't a coincidence, I decided to contact Grande. This is when I discovered that I had an outstanding $30 charge from them that had been turned into collections. All this time, they had been mailing statements and notice about this charge to an INCORRECT ADDRESS. Literally, an address that isn't even mine. I tried explaining this to no avail, as the lady I spoke to (Melody), didn't really seem to understand. Terrible service doesn't say enough about this company! We had been with Grande for over 10 years. Their service USED to be good, but in the last year or so, their INFLATED FEES AND TAXES just weren't worth their lousy 'FREE' services anymore! Did you know their TAXES AND FEES ARE JUST AS MUCH (OR MORE) AS THEIR 'BUNDLED' SERVICES ARE NOW?????? Who can afford those prices for lousy service in an established neighborhood in the city???? Their phone service barely worked every other month, and a few years ago they published our once private number while charging us to NOT publish it, so we decided to change it! Their internet service was a joke - because more often than not - the service continued to be sporadic to nonexistent (especially during business hours)! Their cable service only worked when it wanted to! When we would call to report the outages - it was NOT a surprise that their Customer Service would always deny an outage was in our area -- and if they did have an outage in the area, they NEVER called to cancel our appointment - they just never showed up so I would have to make another 20 minute call to find out what was going on! Grande took over our cable in Morgans Point Resort nearly a year ago. We went from a direct hook up to cable to 5 tv's, to 5, old, 12"x17"x2 3/4" boxes (that I had to pick up) that have noisy cooling fans and give off significant heat. The price went up of course. Two tv's go to green screen and have to be restarted periodically and three have to use the television remotes for volume control...one will max volume at about 1/2. Installers have visited, but have basically shrugged off the performance of the boxes. Customer service has no date for replacement. It looks like Dish may be in my future unless the City Council can find a new provider. read more

Grande communication is the worst cable company I have ever dealt with in my 45 years on this Earth. I have to call them out at least twice a week and still not have the problem resolved. They schedule appointments without confirming if that's a good time for you or not. Who schedules in appointment from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. no one has that type of time on their fucking hands to be waiting on a fucking cable company and to have them not ever show up nor give you a courtesy call or anything explaining why they never showed up. On day 9 of extreme incompetence and frustration and I write this while chatting with a competitor that I swore I'd never go back to to set up service there. I have heard so many great things about this company for years and was excited to finally get to switch to them after I moved last week. I see from these reviews that their service has plummeted and I have experienced that first hand. My initial install turned out to be incomplete but when I called back 2 days later there was an "outage" in my area that could have been the problem so that delayed things. Spent the entire day 2 days later with them coming back and forth with set up, literally for over 12 hours. A major hassle but fine, set up sometimes takes work. Went 45 hours without a problem then my modem/router kept rebooting itself. I called in trying to find out if they could detect a reason. No information. Took 2 days to get a service call set up, in part because of another outage in my area, with a 4 hour window for that appointment. Didn't show up. Spoke to someone who had a lot of mis-information who then assured me dispatch would call me in a half an hour, they never did. This is after being told several times in the past couple of days that a supervisor would call me and that took 3 long phone calls before that happened. The supervisor too seemed to be lacking knowledge, as did almost everyone I spoke with at this company. My biggest concern is that they seemed to have no qualms that there were 2 outages in 9 days, or that my router was rebooting itself, like that was par for the course. Also incredibly bureaucracized so that no one had info from anywhere else, tons of hoops/red tape. I finally cancelled my service appointment, and found I hadn't been notified that they'd changed 8-12 to 1-5 without letting me know. I need reliable service, this is apparently not the place for that. read more

I was excited and hopeful about the switch to Grande. Turns out their service is just as bad as everyone claims. The fees are unreal. Ridiculous late charges, reconnect service fees. They had the wrong phone number for my account for 6 months, and they would not email me that my payment had not gone through. So, I had to pay late fees on a bill that to my knowledge I had paid. And, its overpriced, Time Warner Cable is so much cheaper. read more

We used Grande for 2 years and have nothing but great things to say. We have high speed internet and it was always just that. Every now and then it would go off but if it lasted more than a minute a quick call to there 24 hour a day service would get it right back up. The longer you stay the more you pay. Introductory pricing is one thing, throttling back speeds is another. They'll tell you to go to their site for speed tests of course. The truth is they punish you with price increases the longer you stay .They bundle so that you cant see a detailed itemized list of where your money is actually going in the bundle. I am canceling today because apparently to cancel you have to speak only to a certain department at grande. Don't believe me call for yourself. If you want to change or check pricing for comparison pricing too bad you'll be rerouted to another department and haggled and mislead. The price advertised is an inexpensive introductory price that they raise later and the way they price inexpensive is by hitting you with large "hidden" monthly fees, used or refurbished rental equipment fees and TAXES. They get you signed up then they take advantage of you .By using used refurbished equipment it will need updates to firmware and will need a tech to constantly come out by the way techs are contracted from 100 mile radius and could care less I caught one smoking on the side of my house. Another flat out told me they would have to climb pole and couldn't find a replacement part on his truck, that he would have to come back and set a new appointment .I made them aware of the issue why did they not bring the part. The truth is shop around do your research and take the reviews with a grain of salt. Honestly their website reviews only show glowing reviews so right off the bat you know there's some dishonesty going on .At least here you see the good and bad and you can make an informed decision. I've been with grande 8 years and I can prove it. Grande communication tech support are the rudest inconsiderate individuals I have ever had to deal with, not just one but everyone tech support I have had the displeasure of speaking with. We were told in the beginning by Grande's sales rep that our phone we do business with out of our home could be transferred from Time Warner. Instead someone slipped up and we were forced to use a new phone number, lost business, and over a week went by before we were finally told billing said the phone could not be transferred. DVR not working again. Local channels require a "re-Boot" almost daily. The automated re-boot they offer does not work. Have to manually unplug coax and power. All their techs say is they are having network issues in our area. Every issue is reported through a call center in Austin, or San Marcos.....I'll drive to their local office on Saturday, and ask for the cable box to be exchanged.....customer service from this company is zero at best read more
