Customer service took a nose dive since Jan. Costs are up. My service was OK until I upgraded my internet speed. The new router cycles up and down. No I don't want to take another 1/2 day waiting for your tech to change my router with another. They are fast to ask if I want to disconnect rather than mailing me another router. Its time to change providers. They used to have good customer service and the service was never the best but at least I could get through a work day without having my internet die 3-4X. read more

Just tried to sign up for their service, but I didn't even get that far. Now that I've read the quality issues with the service they sell, I'm glad I didn't go there. After signing up on the Web site for their Internet service, I received a courtesy call from a nice man who left a message. Upon calling back, I spoke to two different customer service reps. The first took my information and forwarded my call into the back office. The second asked for the same information...er, "I just gave this info to the other person, you don't have it?". No. I repeat. Then she starts asking me what services I want. "I already filled all that out on the Internet. Are you telling me that after giving you my name and address, you don't see in my system what I've already ordered?" Answer: "No sir." My response: "You sound as confused as Time Warner Cable. Be advised their $90 bundle for cable and internet, in reality is over $140. There are A LOT of additional "surcharges". If you need a modem, there's another $12 a month. This is not the magical unicorn you want it to be (OR IT FALSELY ADVERTISES TO BE) unfortunately...sorry. Oh yes, and they want you to pay a month in advance, and then make your due date about two weeks after you start your service, which means you're really paying ahead 6 weeks. And if you have the time, energy, and morbid curiosity to test the utmost limits of your sanity and patience...you can call their customer service and attempt to get your due date moved to the 1st of the month...LIKE EVERY OTHER BILL IN THE UNIVERSE!!!!!! I switched to Grande from Spectrum. I figured since it was relatively new to my area that it would be better. It worked amazing the first day. After that it has been nothing but problems. It constantly goes up and down all day. At one point we lost internet three times in ten minutes. We called Grande and they were pretty fast to send someone out. They checked their lines, and found nothing wrong. They told us that it could be the modem, so I went out and bought a brand new one. Called to have it added, and experienced no problem. Hooked up and it fixed the problem for two days, and then the internet was back to jumping around. The only thing that kept Grande from receiving a one star from me is the fact that their techs were nice, and that they were speedy on getting someone to look at it. read more

I've been a Grande customer for almost 2 years now in the Rosedale area in Austin. I am paying for their gigabit connection which should have a maximum connection speed of 1000Mbps. I perform daily modem and router reboots, and perform my speed checks via Cat 6 ethernet line directly into my Gigabit enabled computer port. I have never gotten speeds higher than 315Mbps. For a period of time we were experiencing daily outages, to which I was informed by their customer support staff that they were upgrading their system and some of the switchers were having issues. This continues for 3 weeks, which I immediately requested outage credits. I have called technical support repeatedly often resulting in a technician being sent out to test the connection, which they ensure is working correctly, but yes, it is running slow. While on the positive side, their custom support is friendly, they clearly have no technical understanding of the limitations of their system. I would be willing to give Grande more praise if their were more honest about the limitation of their system and based pricing according to the service that they were actually delivering. read more

I've had nothing but issues from Grande. If I had another option where I lived I would go with it but unfortunately until Google Fiber arrives I'm stuck with this albatross of a company. So far I've had all of the following happen: Tech not showing up when he was suppose to Equipment not setup properly Equipment not activated prior to tech leaving Equipment failure Incorrect billing issues Outages Very poor bandwidth from my internet And finally maintenance on their system that took it down for hours without warning. Almost every time I've had to call Grande I've had spotty customer service, techs that seem to read from a script regarding troubleshooting issues, and Supervisors that do not call back when requested. So, i have been a grande customer for over 15 years and their service has usually been pretty good, up until now. I called a while back since my introductory offer had expired and my bill had gone up. They have been good about letting me renew with the new packages offered to customers and did so again. Unfortunately, the new package required an upgrade to equipment which meant i needed a service tech to come out to install it. The appointment window was 8 am - 6 pm or something absurd like that. Well the guy rolled up around 5:45 pm and seemed perplexed when i mentioned that he was supposed to look at our service as well (since we had several instances where the internet went out). Whatever. Then he looked perplexed again when i asked him about the 2nd receiver we were supposed to get with the new package. Undaunted , I called to confirm what we were supposed to get only to find out he did not have any on the truck with him. oooookkkkkkaayyyy. About 2 weeks after the new service (which still drops out intermittently btw), the TIVO box goes belly up. No TV, nothing. Of course, that requires another service call which due to our schedule was made 1 week out (for today 6/4/2018) for 8 am -10am. Well around 9am, i grew concerned. I called tech support and they said it was already scheduled for between 8 and noon. Uh, no, that is not 8 and 10. So apparently, they just changed my scheduled window with no notice to me. It is now after 10 am and i have not even received a phone call from the tech meaning it will be after 11 am before anything will be done, if i am lucky Calling tech support yielded nothing but a LONG hold for a supervisor who never picked up. I am supposed to get a call back, but not really holding my breath on that. Really disappointed in Grande. Their service has really gone down hill in the last year or so. Update - I did eventually get a call back from a supervisor and once they were able to catch me (no callback number provide) he was very apologetic (of course). He looked over what had happened and arranged to have a tech come out in the evening on 6/5 for the main TiVo and a separate appointment for the second unit (less than ideal, but something). He also made a reasonable adjustment to our bill to reflect the hassles we have been going through, which was certainly appreciated and appropriate. The tech arrived late in the window since he was apparently working on service to our block. I was a bit concerned with how late he had showed up and his first question on walking in was "Is something happening with your TiVO?". Apparently, Rubin was called out due to numerous service issues in the area and just assumed we were one of those. He did a thorough job checking the connections/ signals replacing splitters, etc. to hopefully resolve the internet connection issues we had been having. He did have a new TiVo box for our main unit and replaced that, made sure it was connecting to the internet and receiving TV signal. He seemed pretty knowlegeable and answered any questions I had. He said he was going to tell his boss to have the next guy run a new line from the pole to the house since it was old and also have them run a new line to the back TV. I think he wanted to make sure the signals were good everywhere, etc. THAT was the kind of service we used to get from Grande everytime. Hopefully, that will be how it is going forward. I've had Grande for about 8 months and have been using the modem that they initially gave me (I requested wireless but they set up the one that required ethernet). Yesterday I purchase my own brand new wireless cable modem, Docsis 3 compatible. Now, I have used local internet companies before and they have no problem with customers using their own modem. They respect the fact that people sometimes don't want to pay monthly rental fees. The first time I called to get them to activate my modem, the girl who answers acted like I was a total dumbass and told me that since it was not their modem, she would not trouble shoot it for me (keep in mind, I wasn't asking her to troubleshoot it, just wanted it activated so I could access their service that I was already paying for). She told me to call the company who made the product and have them do it (which is hilarious really... because that makes no sense at all). The second time I called, I was put on hold for 15 minutes. When the gentleman answered, I explained to him that I needed to have a personal modem activated. He then informed me that Grande does not support outside modems, and that if I insisted on activating my new modem, that my speed would be reduced from 30 to 8! He said he wasn't even sure if their system would recognize this piece of equipment. I also would like to point out that internet providers are LEGALLY required to deliver the speed that is being paid for. Then I spoke to the fine people at Motorola who made my brand new modem. They said that this (Grande) spokesperson sounded very ignorant. If a system recognizes one Docsis 3 modem, then it should be able to recognize one made by a different company. I made an appointment with a supervisor tomorrow. Hopefully he/she will be more reasonable. I should be allowed to forgo the monthly rental of their modems if I don't have the option of purchasing my own. read more

Their internet service regularly disconnects and is unreliable in general (never had such issues on Time Warner connections). Would not recommend Grande as an ISP for residential internet service. CONSTANT DISCONNECTS; the speed is not slow... they just do not send you a consistent connection (bad for gamers). (Months of usage experiencing the same constant disconnection issue confirmed that the same problem is occurring and wouldn't be due to any fiber-maintenance or outages). read more

We use Grande for cable TV only in a business location. I see that other folks are hitting them with 1- and 2-star reviews, so I wanted to share our experience which has been almost entirely positive. For cable, the prices for business services are very reasonable. The stability has been great. We have had one brief system outage in 8 months, and when I called to report it, they were already pushing the update, so the problem was resolved a minute or two later. If I have any complaints it would be usability issues. The remote controls that come with the basic cable boxes are some of the worst I've ever seen. They are far too complicated, and the buttons that you want to use most often are the tiniest and hardest to find. In addition, in the onscreen guide, it doesn't seem possible to hide the channels that you don't subscribe to; you can block channels for parental control, but you can't make them not appear in the guide. So this means a lot of unnecessary scrolling, and also some confusion in our business setting as people get upset when a pay channel or feature like video on demand is not available. I guess parents might also be upset with some of the suggestive titles for TV shows or movies that they wanted blocked. I've talked with customer service about these issues, and I have found them to be pleasant and concerned, even if they are unable to ultimately do anything about it. Many folks like the Longhorn network too. Also, extra points for being local. If you need service, for example for installation, there is a local person who comes out to do it, and he or she is knowledgeable about the systems. If you need to swap your cable boxes, there is a nearby office to do that too. So not perfect, but so far pretty good. read more

Any good review is most likely posted by there employees. Over Charged me big time. First they charged me for a Modem I never even had 11.99 a month. Second wtf is all this: "Broadcast TV Surcharge 11.74 a month" "Sports Programming Surcharge 11.45 a month" "Entertainment Networks Surcharge 10.66" I didn't even have Sports and Entertainment programming why the f am i paying a surcharge for it and they go ahead and throw a surcharge for broadcast tv on top of my 89.99 for cable. I'm only guessing these are there little tips. GTFO. They Popped this fee in my bill three months in to my service "Network Access and Maintenance 1.97 a month" Another thing my upgraded internet speed of 400 mbps was never close to being reached. It would always hover around 220 mbps when it worked, the internet would go out twice a day on the best days. They got me good. Two other things why tf was i paying yalls Franchise Fee of 4.66 and Regulatory Fee of 0.08 a month. These are yalls bills from the federal goverment. In my business i don't charge my customers hidden cost for my for my taxes it doesn't make since. i have straight forward prices and this is a load of bs. Total they got me and most all there customers for an Extra $52.55 a month. read more

Have had Grande for 1week, first 10 minutes it kicked me out, this has been occurring daily more than 4 times. I work from home and was assured the 600 mbs would be more than adequate. I never had issues with the Grande service, however, when I cancelled on 7/30, I incurred additional charges due to an error on their part and it took over 2 months to get my refund. They opened and closed 2 cases and told me all kinds of different figures of what I was supposed to get back, and when I was supposed to get it back. It seemed like their back-end was severely disorganized and some of the reps I spoke with were nicer and more knowledgeable than others. All in all, I'm glad I didn't give up on my refund, because it seemed like they were hoping I would. Due to handling of my refund, I wouldn't return to the company. read more

I was caught off guard by Grande's billing policies and ended up having my service briefly disconnected. By default they bill a month in advance so you are paying for service you have not yet received. If the bill is not paid within 20 days of receipt service is disconnected until it is paid. In my case this meant my service was disconnected before the end of the "billing cycle" date on the bill. This is the only ISP I have ever know to bill for services not yet rendered. This may not be an issue for some but I don't like it. read more

I have had a good experience with Grande. I'm not the best at the computer and new updated stuff so I sometimes have troubles with getting my tv/cable on. I can call Grande and they will walk me through the steps to get everything up and going again - they are always calm and professional. Grande has competitive rates that are super affordable and their customer service reps are super helpful and nice - no problems there. BUT the internet/TV service has not been good. First, my internet cuts out a few times a week. I thought maybe my equipment was faulty, but the CSR said it was an outage. The TV also goes out since it relies on the internet to function. I'm very frustrated since its a great price but I may be forced to go back to time warner (a company i truly hate) for some more reliable internet. I DON'T WANT TO GRANDE! read more

We'd love to support a local company and we loathe the monopolies like ATT, but in today's world of wireless if the only guarantee a company can give for a good connection is to hardwire to a modem (which was one of Grande's tech's advice) then they really shouldn't be in the business. What we learned during the brief 5-weeks we had them: First, they piggy-back onto existing cable services, and the quality of service depends on how many others in your area are trying to get and stay online; this means sometimes you can get some access, other times of days it is not only slow, you will get dumped every few minutes and have to re-connect, over and over and over again! This never happened when we had ATT. Their service techs: when we contacted them and even were willing to "upgrade" and pay more for service, they instead insisted on giving us a "booster box" to plug into a random electrical outlet in our house, claiming this would enhance our connections; the tech didn't even know what it did, just that "it helps;" it actually made things worse. We really wanted to support Grande, so we requested another tech visit. The next tech said the problem was that we were trying to work wireless and the only way to get a good connection was "plug in direct to your modem" - and when we asked, do you mean we have to be hardwired, his response "yeah I thinks that's what it is" and "yeah, like with a desktop." On the plus side, they were way easier to talk to than ATT, e.g. you get a real live person whose job is not outsourced. That said, of the 1/2 dozen people we dealt with, no one at GrandeComm seemed to have any solid technical knowledge. The capper for us was the "plug in direct to your modem" - in today's wireless world, Grande's service is just too primitive if you rely on connecting to the internet for anything more than casual surfing. We just got ATT fiber optic installed and it's awesome! Putting up with ATT's horrendous customer service is a trade-off well worth it; three of us have work that is is online, and we have all been zipping along, downloads are a snap, and not one slowdown or disconnect. read more

I was overcharged multiple times and told conflicting information from different representatives. This is worst cable provider i have ever encountered, their customer service is pitiful. Last year i upgraded my internet from 200 to 300 mbps, then recently upgraded to 400 bc i was still unsatisfied with the speed, when the tech came out he noted that the modem grande had been renting to me was not even capable of 300mbps, so i was paying for nearly a year for something i was not even getting. I proceeded to call and spend nearly 2 hours trying to get a refund of my overpayment , apparantly grande refuses to refund your money even if they screwed up. They are only willing to give you a credit, not even a discount as an apology... suffice to say, we cancelled our service with them, that is the only way to get your money back.... it like dealing with the mafia.... read more

Grande communications has the most horrible customer service I ever experienced. Internet service is slow and overpriced. They overcharge you for installation and make you wait the whole day for the customer service to come. But that is not all. You can not even disconnect service without MAKING A WHOLE DAY APPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Basically they tell you that you suppose to take all day off work just to wait for the cable guy to come and disconnect the service! They refuse to tell even approximate time of appointment! Grande Communications is horrible. We are current customers because our apartment community has a contract to ONLY ALLOW GRANDE. This is the biz model they use. They get contracts with apartment communities that disallow for fair competition. Grande advertised VOD "On Demand" however they don't have it here. (fraud) They don't have a lineup that actually tells you what channels you will get, so I have the 850 channel package with very few HD channels and nowherre near the channels we had with Verizon FIOS nor what ATT Uverse offers for the same price. The only way Grande stays in business is by locking communities into these contracts limiting customers choices and then further scams people by offering things they don't have and then hiding from the customer what they truly are signing up for. read more

We've had different cable/internet services over the years. I have to say that Grande, for the price, is actually pretty reliable. I have rarely had internet issues, and the cable has always worked. When I speak with customer service, they are always helpful and go to great lengths to ensure they get you a question answered or an issue resolved. I don't watch TV all the time but do rely heavily on my internet as I'm a student and actually do a lot of my classwork at home and I don't worry about the internet being out. I'm happy, especially with the affordability. read more

We have outtages far too often. The prices that we are being charged are insane for how shitty of a company this is. Much like Andrew C. I have been a Grande customer for over 17 years. I was one of the first subscribers in my area as well. I have always supported and bragged about my service with them...Until now. Yes, I too had those annual calls with their account reps when the rates climbed ( I spend over 200.00 per month for my service and have been for quite some time). Each time they would adjust one thing or another and tell me what a great deal I was getting, blah blah blah.... What I am upset with is not so much overpaying for the service. I am ok paying what I have been paying but I am furious over a matter that has arisen in the past couple days... And let me restate that I have always bragged about their service and response time...UNTIL NOW! My internet went down yesterday, my wife called and was told they could npt look at it until Friday...4 days????? I called and was told now that it would be Monday before they could get someone out..6 DAYS????? In what universe is that acceptable???? I said that was unacceptable and asked who the President of their company was, to which the rep responded, "I don't know who the President is" How can you work for a company and not now who the President is? In any event, they would not give me any workable number to their corporate offices other than the same call center number I had been calling... I posted a note on Facebook and got the same obligatory response you did that they were sorry about the issue and please send them a private message with my account info.. I did that, they said they would get me on an expedited list for dispatch and someone would call me.. Guess what? Noone has called. I was able to get their corporate number on the internet and called their General Mgr. They put me through to someone else, probably somebody in customer service..He never bothered to return the call either... I doubt they will satisfactorily handle this and have pretty much decided that if that's the best they can do for someone that has been a loyal customer for over 17 years, maybe it's time to give my money to someone else. My advice to anyone looking at these guys is, beware, they don't seem to worry about losing customers and the very thing that once separated them from their competitors was their quick response to customers in need. I am really down on Grande Communication and here's why. My internet was shut off over the weekend. I called them up and they said I downloaded a movie (torrent) and as a result they suspended my account but if I was to delete the movie off my computer they would restore it. Here's the problem though, I am running my internet off a wireless router w/o a security password on it (I know not smart but I had problems with a security and having to reset my modem and router as a result many times that I gave up) and told them that first I don't have this movie on my computer and second someone could have downloaded it using my internet. I also told them that I have LEGALLY purchased movies in the past, paid for them, and they came in torrent files. He said that I had to put a security password on my internet and that if they see more downloads then they will suspend my account. He didn't care that I didn't download it or that I can actually LEGALLY pay for a movie with a torrent extension. Think I'll start looking for a new isp. read more

If you value your time and money, find another internet, phone or cable company. We were Grande customers for 7 years because they were so much better than Time Warner, but their service went from mediocre to downright rude - as in setting up an appointment to upgrade service (yes, I'm giving you MORE money!) and not showing up, even after repeated calls and long waits on hold to customer service and being told call after call that the tech was "on his way." This is the treatment we receive for $250 a month? So we cancel Grande. They have to come pick up their equipment and give us a 2-hour window when we have to be home to let them in - the box has to be removed from the side of the house. We schedule around this appointment, rearranging our busy lives, and they don't SHOW UP. A call to customer service reveals the appointment was set two weeks in the future, even though I received an email confirming my original time. The date in the future isn't for a two hour window - it's now any time between 8am and 9pm, and I have to pay for the service until they show up!!! Unreal. Go for Apple TV and deal with a company who truly values you as a customer. read more

My roommates and I are current students at UT-Austin living in the West Campus area. We began service with Grande in August of 2018. I strongly do not recommend choosing them as your Internet Service Provider. To be fair, during the fall semester when we began service, the internet was fairly decent (not great, but it was serviceable). As the semester went on, we began to notice many problems with our internet cutting out and lagging. This led to us contacting Grande and adding on their supplementary Eero range extender to our plan. This seemed to help the coverage issues for a while. However, when we returned from our winter break, the internet became absolutely horrid. We have called them multiple times to fix our service, and in return we have only received many false promises that "the service will be better." We are currently on a plan for 600mbps, and the amount of bandwidth we pay for is certainly not the issue. From time to time, I play Xbox or watch Netflix late at night, and for some reason this seems to be when the internet service performs at its worst. This makes absolutely no sense to me when I am the only person using the internet at the given hour. There are only two reasons I can think of for the bad connection: 1. Grande participates in bandwidth throttling in order to cut their costs and take advantage of their customers or 2. The service Grande provides is really just THAT terrible. While I will not make any firm accusations as to the practices of Grande, I highly recommend that you seek other options when picking an ISP. I have previously used Spectrum throughout my college career without any issues, and this year when we moved into a house we decided to give a different company a chance as a cheaper option (terrible decision). We will likely be switching over to another ISP before the end of this billing cycle. If you want my advice, spend the extra couple bucks a month and get a more reliable service. I've had the gigabyte service for a year and it's been so so. Upon ending service they tell you that you have to schedule to meet a technician to uninstall the equipment. Of course there is no one available anytime close to your move out so you have to have someone let them in and the window they give you is 8 am to 9 pm. This is not a joke. I have to tell them that the office is closed after 6 which they are shocked to hear. Hopefully they'll be a little bit earlier than the install where they were about four hours late. read more

Grande is my provider because of where I live not because I want to use them. I pay more that my previous cable company and get fewer channels and less quality service and my wifi is not as strong. Also, it seems my bill keeps increasing and I told to help quality of service....Nope not happening. read more

Grande is horrible... I am going back to DirectTv as of tomorrow... the cable cuts out so much it's like trying to watch a scratched dvd... and do not even get me started on the internet. When you actually get it to work it won't come close to the speed you pay for. The technicians have no clue what to do and having Longhorn Network is not worth the horrible service read more
