Avoid at all costs or pay the price. Unreliable service with incompetent techs and customer service reps. I experienced an issue where my signal was weak and my speeds were much lower than I was paying for. It has been over a week of me calling and chatting into support for people to keep creating tickets and assuring me that someone will come by or call me back.They don't ever call back and most likely won't even show up and will cancel your appointment without informing you of the cancellation or need to reschedule. I ended up cancelling my service because I refuse to go through this again and keep paying for it. Every rep that I have spoken with over the phone has told me that there has been a mess of cases created and cancelled unannounced to me until I call in to check when the tech that was scheduled to arrive has not shown up or called. This was for one issue that has been ongoing for over a week now. Everybody blames someone else be it the contractors or call centers but the customer continues to foot the bill. And during all this time they left their equipment in my yard (free storage I guess) and keep cancelling when someone will show up to pick it up as if we can all afford to be home for them all day, for multiple days for them to figure out and throw around when they decide to come do their job. The communication between representatives in this company is absent. One rep told me that another call center has done a horrible job at taking notes which is why new cases keep getting recreated and cancelled just cause and nobody can give me clear answer as to why. I've asked to be connected to supervisors multiple times and the reps seem to avoid this at all costs just saying that the supervisors will tell you the same thing, which is that they can't do anything about it but create another case w/ hopes that someone will actually call you this time. This company has made it their mission to avoid accountability and puts the burden of time wasted and money spent on the customer. I have been lied to by every representative I have spoken with. I was even told that they no longer do surveys after calls and they send emails so the rep asked me to hangup first. Is this even true? Who knows. Not one of the best communications TV services i have ever experienced in my entire adult life. I only had them since Feb 12/2017, and today is March 6/2017, and the following is true statements: 1- I keep losing connection, every night on my bedroom set. It has gotten where the connection wont last more than few minutes. 2- their online site is Extremely slow, and i have their internet service by the way. I tried to register for auto payment but was impossible.3- every time i call it tells me I am past due in paying my bill...how is this when my hard bill due date is not here untill next week. 4- When I called I remained waiting for over 25 minutes this time so i hung up..how do you keep cutomers if you dont answer them for support? I have not had any problems with them as my ISP since starting my service in August, I have been very with their Internet services.

How in the hell this company is still in business in the Austin area is a complete mystery. My internet bill went up to $65- this is for 50 mbps mind you. No TV, no phone- just 50 mbps. When I called them to complain or attempt to renegotiate, I got nowhere. I then tried to engage them via their support chat function. After a bit, they rebooted my modem to disconnect the chat session. Overpriced and poor customer service. Both the price and the customer service sucks. Google, Spectrum, ATT, Time Warner- hell, even two cans connected by a string are better alternatives. read more

Extremely disappointed with Grande Communications. I only use it in the evening after office & it keeps disconnecting me. Unfortunately, I cannot work on my laptop or join my meetings on the laptop as it will kick me out multiple times. I have to use my phone instead for internet access. I created a Yelp account just so I could write this review. Grande communications is, by far, the worst internet provider I have ever had--and I've dealt with MyCampusNet. The service quality is terrible in all parts of our house. We can't even watch 720p YouTube without the videos stopping to buffer every 5-10 minutes. On top of that, it's nearly impossible to navigate their website when you have a problem, instead you must get in contact with their call center, and be put on hold for God knows how long. I have been a loyal customer for 6 years and suddenly my bill jumped 50% for no other reason than my promotional pricing expired. I am now being charged what they are offering to brand new customers in pricing for internet services at a faster speed. Grande was not helpful and flat out stated that they would rather loose me as a customer than to keep me as one ie they would offering better pricing to new customers than to keep loyal ones who pay on time and stay with the company. rewarded by getting gouged on pricing. Had them for several years. Decent customer service, terrible customer experience. Paying is a nightmare, constantly locked out and having to change passwords. Billing information is always out of sync. I have roommates and its not easy getting people to pay their system of record is not friendly at all to that. 8-year customer here. Everything is fine, with phone, cable & internet -- mostly. Small complaint about cable: they keep adding stations (mostly Spanish-speaking) without notice, and then I have to go through the whole laborious LIST thing, and turn off the new ones and find the ones that got turned off by being moved to a different number. Small complaint about internet: it seems to keep slowing down. Sometime it just balks and I have to quit Safari and go back. Other times it's okay ... But never super speedy. But if I ever need help with something ... MAJOR COMPLAINT: Hold times for Tech people are NEVER less than 30 minutes. Never! That is abusive. The Tech people are great. The fact that Grande is not hiring enough people to answer the Tech line is a rip-off, and makes me furious as I have to sit there listening to their recording of an inane old country grandma trying to be exciting, horrible "music," and words about how Grande appreciates my business. read more

I was happy with Grande at first. The service seemed OK and all. Then I started having problems. I'd be watching Netflix or Hulu and then all of a sudden it would just turn off and lose the connection. It was the weirdest thing. They kept sending people out and nobody could figure out what the problem was or fix it. Finally, after the fifth or sixth person, they installed fiber and that solved the problem. Now, a few years later, I'm starting to see the same thing happen again. It's only been a handful of times so far, but I see it coming. Also, for the past week, my service has been extremely slow which is what prompted me to write this review. On top of all that, they keep raising the price on me. I was at $70 a month for Internet and the absolute most basic cable there is. I'm talking like six watchable channels. Now I'm at $100. I don't understand this. I call and they lower it for me, and the next month it's right back up again. It's so frustrating! Why, Grande? Why? Loyal customers who stick around should be rewarded, not punished. And now I have no service, and it will be out for four days because they can't get to me today and heavens sake I have a full day on Monday. Great customer service, but they're internet connection has been so unreliable. Its gone off about 15-20 times since the beginning of the year. My wife works from home so shes had to jump on her phone hot spot which has been making our cell bill increase. I would love to switch to att and pay more but its not offered in Midland, TX (of course, because it's nowheresville) so we're stuck with Grande unfortunately. read more

I just ended my service after 3 years as a Grande customer. During that time I had multiple times a week interruptions in my service. I had signal strength issues and limited downstream issues and limited upstream issues. They were quite frustrating and usually lasted between 30 minutes and 3 hours. I had their technicians out to the house several times. They always say "if it's our problem it's free and if it's your problem, you pay". I used my own surfboard modem this whole time, full disclosure. They never found a problem with my modem and only twice did they change any hardware. Once was to reduce noise at the house and once was to replace a faulty card at the street connection. These are valid issues, but did little to change the pattern of frequently bad internet service. Apart from those two instances, the technician would give a vague answer of work done and "is it working now?". Also, if there's an outage you have to call them to verify the outage and then call their billing department to get a $5 credit to your bill. On the plus side, customer support always answers the phone. When I switched providers they scheduled a technician to come out and disconnect our service. I advised them that I had already switched providers and they assured me their technician would not interrupt that. But, true to their pattern, they did. When I got home that day, I had no internet. I called Grande and they assured me that they didn't touch anything and asked me to verify there was no outage with my new provider. I had my new provider come out (boy am I sick of waiting on technicians!) and he quickly found the problem and fixed it. Yes, Grande had disconnected my upstream connection and lied about it. Now I've had a new provider (with half the bandwidth I was buying from Grande), but a constantly satisfying internet experience. If I could negatively rate this companies' customer service skills I would. I've had grande for as long as I can remember and I take blame for sticking with them and thinking they'd get any better. Recently though, we needed a tech to come out to our house to fix some choppy internet speeds and ongoing cable problems. They cancelled our appointment TWICE and then set up another one without me knowing, the only reason I found out about the appointment was because I called Grande and the automated system told me I had an appointment. Estarlin Luna is apparently the tech they sent out to us. AND LET ME TELL YOU what a GOD AWFUL person with a terrible attitude this guy was. He was so disrespectful to my grandma who was the only one there at the house at the time, I wasn't there but I had a conversation with him on the phone and he kept putting blame on us that the wires were tangled. The wires were left like that from the last technician they sent out. He ALSO told me that I should get a Roku instead of depending on the TIVO to use apps like Netflix, Prime, and Hulu. He said that the TIVO was basically pointless so there's that. He also kept making snarky remarks and judging everything. I don't know who this guy thinks he is but wow I've never had anyone more terrible. Point is, I ended up calling and complaining to Grande but the girl on the phone basically told me she could do nothing about it and on her end it showed the technician hadn't even shown up to my house, which didn't make too much sense when she told me the technicians name and laughed when I asked her what his name was. I finally switched my cable and I'm so glad I never have to deal with such a bs company. read more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced from any company. Canceled cable due to outrageous surcharges and fees and kept the WiFi. Told my bill was prorated 1 day for the cable which was fine. My bill has changed 3 times now and I was then told I would have to pay a full month of cable and WiFi after I turned in my cable equipment and then my proration would be on the next bill?? So I am paying a full month of cable with no cable!?? Don't ever use Grande for anything. read more

Recently saw that Grande was running better promotions for internet speeds so upgraded mine from 200 to 600 for the same price I was paying. They said I needed to exchange my modem at their office so I did. Plugged it in and was getting only 1/2 the promised speed. They sent a tech who spent 10 minutes and changed some firmware setting and left. Happened to check my invoice when it came and saw a HUGE jump. They were charging nearly $10 more a month for this new and "improved" modem and also charged me $55 for the tech visit. We had never discussed a charge for either. Called them and the first lady left me on hold for over 15 minutes...until I finally hung up and called back. The next guy had me on hold over 10 minutes and then said that the "charges were valid" and they were for "wiring changes" (never happened). So, I'll be looking at AT&T or other options AND pursuing the appeals process through Austin. Just how I want to spend all my free time. Check your bills! read more

Note: Long review, so in summary: They saved me from Time Warner Cable with unfettered internet speeds at twice the speed for half the cost. First and foremost, we don't use TV - we have a bundled package that gets us 1 HD Box and HBO for half-price (which we in turn just use for HBO-GO). That being said, their HD DVR TV box is terrible and outdated, same box as Time Warner Cable but much worse software integration. That's not the beginning of their software problems, their web application that looks up addresses it serves is/was broken (in early 2014 when we moved here and I was searching around). We live in a house, no extra apartment number or anything so the address search should be an easy fix from a web/software developers point of view (that of which I am). When I found out I couldn't get the over 100mbps speed of grande (no service on our street according to their website lookup tool), we had to go with the next fastest (at the time) Time Warner Cable for a pricey 50mbps down and 5mbps upload (any cheaper plans were 1mbps upload and I need the best speed I can get since I do a lot of freelance web development). After 2 months of hell with Time Warner (took 3 weeks to even get them to install a cable for internet - ended up telling them to just wire cable on side of house and drill through to my office to get internet access- apparently the cables in each room were all cut by a dish company from previous tenant and they couldn't 'drop any lines' or something). Anyway, I'm rambling. Back on point. One day we get a promo flyer in the mail addressed directly to our address (as I typed in on their website) from Grande for a deal that was twice the speed, and half the cost, of TWC. I immediately called and explained my situation. The first rep said that they 'definitely covered my home' - put me on hold and came back 2 minutes later - 'actually we cannot find your address'.... Ummm ok why did I get this in the mail? Are y'all trying to tease me? I went from ecstatic to sad because we were already having throttling issues with TWC and this seemed like the best answer. They finally got back on the phone after holding for a while, conclusion was that they were going to have to call me back? Odd... anytime any other ISP/Cable company has said that I have never heard back (from TWC to Comcast). I thought I'd never hear back and was stuck with the terrible TWC. 2 hours later I was ACTUALLY called back! Did not expect that. And they bore good news, they could be out there in 2 days to install services. 2 days?!? That was like lightspeed compared to TWC. Luckily I was NOT on contract with TWC (I made sure of this since I was hoping Google Fiber would show up asap and save the day, turns out it was Grande). Service as of now after almost 1 year with them: top notch, never down and speeds are usually higher than the advertised speed (I got their fastest plan of 110mbps down 10 up - would usually get about 115 down and 11-12 up). HBO-GO and Netflix stopped constantly buffering and playing in the worst SD quality when it did work on TWC, now it's smooth sailing full 1080p HD (and Ultra HD on some netflix content). No signs of throttling even with P2P connections (for legal stuff, like downloading & seeding Linux distros). What brought me to write this review: they automatically just upgraded our internet to 220mbps down and 20mbps up, there has never been a billing issue, and they had fast and reliable service when installing (they actually did call and arrive between the times of **pm & **pm unlike TWC which missed days without so much as a call until the next). Reason for 5/5? I think the rating on yelp poorly reflects their actual service... most reviews seem like angry-ish consumers not looking at the big picture and comparable options. They honestly deserve 4/5 for their bad software and making me deal with TWC for almost 2 months, but they are a small company and I would rather them spend their money on better infrastructure (clearly they have since I just got doubled in speed for no cost) than other wasteful things that large ISP's do (like keep all the money, for example). Also, no BS fees or upcharging after a couple months or anything like that. They even provided the modem for FREE (yep, I got to sell my 1 month old new modem that I got on Amazon to use with TWC for $80-ish dollars, TWC was trying to charge near $10 a month just for a modem). All-in-all, from Dallas, Lubbock, Denver and TWC in Austin, they are the BEST ISP I've ever used. *Note: No google fiber access, only options are Time Warner, AT&T and Grande - Grande is as good as it gets for my neighborhood and I am solely giving this rating for their INTERNET speed and reliability. I use not only speedtest.net but independent tests to my remote hosted server (that I use to host client websites/email/etc on). We got Grande yesterday because the "manager" who came to our door promised better customer service then Time Warner. We've gone from bad to the worst. My internet keeps shutting down and they blame Microsoft-why didn't this happen with Time Warner? The guy who put in our service said Tivo can't be used with our surround sound-WRONG. The "manager" says he has Grande/TiVo and it can be used with surround sound and he has it at his house. The Tivo Box had to be set up by me in the livingroom-the service guy didn't even connect the service. They've promised someone would be by today and should expect a service man to call in 1 hr. four times. It's 3:15pm and no one has called! The "manager" said they'd be here between 8 and noon today! I ordered a cable box for our spare bedroom for "basic cable" - the guy didn't have a box and just connected the existing cable with no box-you can barely see the picture there's so much snow it! Like the guy said do yourself a favor, and don't do business with Grande Communications! I've missed 2 whole days of work and do not have much to show for it. read more

We have had serious, long-term ongoing problems maintaining an adequate internet connection and connection speeds. Our connection speed can be as low as 0.1 MBPS. We have placed numerous calls to Grande over the last few years. In the last month we have had three service technicians visit our property. Each of these visits have required my wife or I to take time off of work. Two of these visits were required due to mistakes made by technicians. We were assured by the last technician that our service would be functioning normally; however, this has not happened. It is unclear to me that Grande is able to either provide adequate service or appropriately troubleshoot their service. I am at a loss for how to receive the service that we pay for from Grande. read more

If I had a choice to give 0 stars I would. So I've had numerous problems with their internet service. So around every 10 ~ 30min the internet seems to stop and after a 1 ~5 min then the service comes back on. This inconsistency is a problem when you are shopping, checking your credit card fees you can potentially get double charged, then you have to deal with that. The problem just snowballs because of ONE CRAPPY internet service. Next year when we get google I am switching it since I will be paying only $10 month more for less hassle and more steady internet service. It will just save us time and stress. Please bear with me, I am pissed and this will be long. The absolute worst Internet & customer service experiences we've ever had. I don't know how they continue to decline at this rate, but they have a seriously problem on their hands. We've been using Grande for a bit over 4 years. In that time, we've made at minimal 20 calls to CS, and have had at least 6 techs out to the homestead to deal with various Grande issues. Issues have existed in the previous years, but nothing to this recent extent. In the past month or so, we've been dealing with continuous intermittent on-off service, ridiculously low speeds (1.2 Mb when we have a 3rd tier plan of 30Mb) rude, mal-informed monitor prompt reading customer service techs who try to blame our equipment (which was researched & is functionally rock solid). And, most recently, an absolutely dismissive home tech who flat out couldn't answer questions regarding the drop out bandwidth, continuous dropped connection, and further insisted we have a 12 Mb plan (that Grande no longer offers) when I clearly stated several times that we have & continue to pay for the 30Mb package for over 3 years. He passed the buck that the issue was on us, and of course, reacts with the old faulty equipment line. Dude would not listen to the issue at hand, and insisted that our modem (which as of right now, is still working just fine) was old and wasn't rated for the plan and that it was effecting speeds. The exact plan we've been on for over 3 years? Absolutely NOT true. Continuing on. Cable dude would not stop trying to rack up his service charges. He tried to get me to rent the Grande modem at an additional monthly fee to fix the issue. I told him that I was not interested in more cost and that I just wanted it fixed. Why in the wide world of sports would I rent (a modem not of my choosing) at a continuous non ending fee when you can buy your own modem that pays for itself in 6 months of usage? Mama didn't raise no fool, fool. Then, he continues on unnecessarily clipping the coax cable, re-seating with new connectors, the obligatory screwing around on the side of your house making the neighbor's dogs have a conniption fit for 20 minutes routine, and lastly, climbing the telephone pole to do absolutely nothing at the hub for the next 35 minutes for a grand total of 1.5 hrs of our time wasted while he gets paid. A bunch of unnecessary work for it being "on us". After this time ordeal, guy walks back into our house through the front door without knocking, to say we're done. Done with what? Wasting time? At this point, the speed is still hot and cold, dropping ridiculously low during peek times, if it connects at all (lock up). My internet never works correctly between 7-9am, or 3-6pm, roughly. Peek usage times, which probably means they have over sold my neighborhood (Hyde Park/ North Loop). Lately, having some time off for the holidays we've been up late, and guess what? They like to screw around with the service starting around 12 am, and lasting roughly to about 10 am the next day. So much for having fun after dark staying up late watching movies. Today, yet again I have been forced to call their customer dis-service less than a week from the home tech visit - and got stuck with another mouth breather who flat out did not offer any answers. This guy was arrogant, argumentative, and flat out rude. As always, I get off the phone feeling slighted and disregarded. I have now tried twice to cancel my service on the phone with a human being, and get stuck with the "we'll have a supervisor call you to move forward with that" routine. I have yet to receive that call. At this point, I am just gonna stop paying them for the headache they are causing us. Our household has had it with getting ripped off for garbage service, excuses and lies. We've been paying these jokers $56 a month for years. That could've been airfare and a trip to mark a lifetime rather then being up up early in the morning pissed off and bitching on yelp that I can't use my email. F Grande. When I try to illegally download the latest bad Hollywood movie, the crap album I'm glad I didn't buy or killer European porn, I want it yesterday - no excuses! Did I just eat bad acid or something? Why does Netflix high def look like VHS filtered thru a donkey's ass? This is lame! Grande communications internet is Horrible. Don't use. I have been with Grande for the last 5 years. The consistently screw my bill up and the service is sketchy. the service goes out and when you call they tell you"everythings fine". A grande service person disconnected a neighbors service and just threw their old cable down on the refuse on the telephone pole. Its very dangerous. sloppy work. I have more to say. Also, They overcharge for the modem. last year it was 5 bucks a month. they increased it for my address to 12 dollars a month! - and the modem sucks on top of that! I live in an apartment serviced by Grande and have never seen internet and wifi done as badly as it is here. Frequent disconnects that last for 30 minutes to an hour, weak wifi signal within the apartment overall, and multiple periods throughout the day when the internet is actually unusable from traffic during peak hours. Their solution to this is to buy the "premium wifi" for an extra $30 a month. Seriously? I am beyond livid with these guys. They lie about when they will arrive, they violate expectations, they break promises, and they provide less and charge more than the competition. I've had it. Second time within 3 days they have missed their FOUR HOUR WINDOW, this time by an estimated TWO ADDITIONAL HOURS - and it took me 2 calls to even get that information. Just called to inquire about Grande phones for business and the rep couldn't even help me understand the basics of the package. THEN she put me on hold for 20 minutes and then disconnected the call. I was ready to sign up when I called and now there is no way I would ever sign up with your phone service. We already are not having the greatest experience with your Business Internet Service. read more
