I absolutely love Astoria cleaners they're so sweet and kind and helped me multiple times when I was in a pinch trying to get a very complicated dress cleaned that I was renting out. They have very fair prices and the best customer service. I wish it didn't take me this long to find them!!! These are my white socks that I sorted and bagged separately myself. I told the drop of service employee that I sorted them in Spanish and they still deliberately ruined them. When I was entering I saw the employee throw a ton of laundry into a tiny washer and grabbed some black stuff and put it in a washer with white stuff because there was more space. I should have left then but there are a lack of options nearby. I also hate their fabric softener and the smell of their detergent. So I brought in my own free and clear detergent and they put fabric softener on it anyways. There is never a free machine because they do their own wash and fold with the machines so you are fighting with the staff to do your own laundry. Overall I have had so many problems with this laundromat. I wish I had a second option. read more

I come here pretty often since it's close to where I live, but honestly, the machines don't wash clothes properly. Last time, there was an issue with the dryers, leaving my laundry only half-dried. When I asked the only staff member present about the problem, she barely spoke English and just said "sorry," which didn't resolve the fact that my clothes weren't properly dried and could potentially get moldy. She went straight back to folding laundry without making any effort to call someone to fix the issue. If everything goes smoothly, this place is ok at best for doing laundry. But if something goes wrong, don't expect any real help--you'll likely just get blamed or receive a few apologies that neither solve the problem nor make up for your wasted time. read more

The are over changing customers $10 to put a button on a shirt. if you use their laundry service if the weight is 20.10 lbs they charge you for 21 lbs the detergent they use make your clothes smell funny if you complain to silvia in the dry cleaning she doesn't do anything. Finding a new dry cleaner is always difficult, so I decided to give this spot a try & it was a waste of my time. As soon as I began to inquiry, the cashier (face of the establishment) could not get rid of us fast enough. Not only was I unable to complete my inquiries she basically was rushing us to just give her whatever we wanted to be cleaned. This Hispanic woman was obviously too into her personal phone call to even care this was our first time there. The mere fact this lazy & indifferent woman attends customers shines a light on how careless my wardrobe will be cleaned. They literally ruined two of my dresses and tried to convince me it was the fabric ... which I could believe if it wasn't two completely different dresses from different companies made of different material. There were like little thread pulls all over the dresses - I will say they did try to fix it but you could still see the damage making them unwearable. I had to get loud with April the owner and point out this was reportable to 311 to even get her to refund the price of the service. They obviously found value in one of the dresses as they previously had charged me 90 dollars to hem it but not enough value to compensate me for ruining it?? read more

I was debating whether to write a negative review or not (I rarely do), but I see multiple others with similar comments so will add mine hopefully the business will get the message. Astoria cleaners does a great job, I have never had any issues with their cleaning. Despite their excellent work quality I am not going to return there just because of the terrible attitude of one of the women who works there. She recently seems pissed at something all the time and you constantly feel like you're being scolded by your teacher for one reason or another. I am a very low maintenance customer, I never complain or give people a hard time, no matter how hard I try to smile and be nice she finds a reason to be grouchy with simple stuff, like why I put the clothes on the left side of the completely empty counter rather than the right side ‍ I'm not going back there, I'm past the point in my life to walk on eggshells at the dry cleaners! read more

I started using Astoria cleaners about four years ago. Since the pandemic the entire experience has gone down hill. The woman who works at the counter used to be nice but the past two times I have brought clothing in for alterations she acted as though I was doing her a disservice. She was rude and short with me. I often come and bring my shirts here! The lady at the front has always an attitude.they messed up one of my shirt they broke a button and then they attach it on sticker of the shirt which I wasn't able to wear the shirt after. On top of that i asked to rush and make me ready at least one shirt for two days. She said she cannot only if I pay 25% of the price they gonna rush.Which is very ridiculous. I been dropping my clothing of here for the last month or so for there laundry service. after leaving one place cause they were ruining and shrinking all my clothing. The last time i picked up my clothing it did not smell as if any detergent was used. And most recently they clothing did not smell like detergent One sweater smelled the same way as when i dropped it off. They do listen when i ask for low dry service and my clothing does not come back shrunken. But i would like my clothing smelling nice and clean. There cash only and not cheap i pay extra for low dry but for 25-30 bucks a week i think my clothing should smell and feel clean. read more

I used to love sending my clothes here but the last few times my white sheets have returned with a grey hint and did not smell very clean (must have changed detergents). This was not the only time an issue came up, I also had to contact them about 2 sham pillow cases that were stained with black as well. They offered to fix but they returned just barely better so I had to toss them. It's sad because the team was always on time and the driver was respectful and kind. it must just be an issue with the washing machine or quality checks. Incredibly happy with the work they've done on my clothing. There were two particular items they really nailed: 1 -- a button was replaced on my winter coat. The kicker here: I lost the original button, the tailor had to find one that matched the others; I can't even tell which one he replaced!! He literally found an exact match! 2 -- I didn't know white clothes could yellow in the closet (!!!). One of my favorite white dresses had begun to yellow after three seasons of storage; they managed to get it looking brand new!!!! And -- I forgot -- they got out an OLD stain from one of my oldie but goodie items. Bonus: if you walk passed them on your way to the train, you can drop stuff off before work, and pick up on your way home just days later. Definitely worth checking out. read more

I have never sent my laundry out. In Manhattan I always had a laundry in the building. I hate going to laundromats so I had a lot of clothing. 9 large laundry bags. And lots that had to be line dried. They were great! Got everything back in two days although I told them they could take longer. Folded so nicely! I have hundreds of socks and they matched them in pairs. Unfortunately as I waited so long to have my wash done, some stains did not come out. Totally my fault and I did not mark them for stains, so the employees did not know to give special attention. Their work is so good, I bet they could have removed some of the stains. Silvia provided excellent service and communication and I lost my phone when my laundry was out. Stalin the delivery person is polite, friendly and prompt. Will use again and on a regular basis do laundry does not reach critical mass. Not anymore pricey than my local laundromat. So impressed, so happy. Shout out to the employees who washed and folded my clothes. Don't know your names but I am grateful for your excellent work. Am going to bring a bunch of stuff that needs altering or repair. Started coming here a few years ago because of their convenient location and the friendliness of Sylvia (who runs the place). Kept coming back because they clean and press my work suits to absolute perfection! I'm finally writing this review because they recently worked a miracle on a coat of mine. It's a pink wool coat that is probably a little impractical to wear in NY but it was on such sale that I couldn't resist getting it. Anyway, I made the mistake of wearing it into Sephora and one of the lipstick testers slashed across the arm of my coat leaving a huge red smear!! I was devastated but I resisted the urge to try and clean it myself and risk making it worse. Instead I brought it immediately to Astoria Cleaners - and guess what? They got the ENTIRE stain out!! I've been using Astoria Cleaners now for nearly a year for both my laundry and dry cleaning. If I schedule a pickup for 7:30am, I can pretty much set my watch to it. They have never been late. The service is impeccable and reasonable. On the rare occasion that they would be later than promised, they call me and let me know. There have been several time where I have asked for my laundry to be rushed and have had it back in as little as 4 hours. As for the person that wrote the negative review, he clearly states that he was not ready when the person came to pick up. They have a business to run. The gown was cleaned, preserved & packed in a box as if I purchased an expensive fancy doll from a high end toy store. I keep this gown in my home with all my other precious collectables. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. I've been a loyal customer for over 1.5 years. One day, I get my laundry back and ALL my whites were turned pink. They had put my pink yoga towel with all the whites! I called them 5 times to speak with the manager and get a refund and they kept fending me off, saying he's usually in around 8pm and that he'll call me then. AWFUL service and sense of ethics. I've given these guys a good amount of business over the years, and overall they have been good. I've also used their tailor twice and have been very happy. With the dry cleaning however, whenever there is a problem (i.e., a dry cleaned item comes back to me in a worse condition than when I gave it to them)...in such instances I am often met with an extremely defensive attitude by a particular employee. Just admit that maybe something went wrong. It happens....I'm sure they process massive amounts of laundry there. Try to understand what the problem is, see how it can be fixed, apologize, and try and fix it. If certain employees seem to think that clients sometimes give them 'defective' or 'already-stained' clothing, then maybe to cover themselves they should agree to acknowledge that fact, before they will even accept the item (i.e., customer acknowledges stain at bottom of shirt, for e.g.). That way, the business can't come back to the customer after the fact, saying 'oh that stain was already there', if in fact it was not. No one's ever happy when a favorite or expensive piece of clothing gets tarnished by the dry cleaner. But it just adds insult to injury when the dry cleaner then gets defensive about it, and implies that the defect was already there when you brought the item to them. It also leaves a bad taste in my mouth when they come back to my home to retrieve the 'problem garment', call me upon receipt so I can explain what the issue is and while they have my garment in-hand to inspect, and literally within 5 minutes, the item is delivered back to my home, in their minds, 'now fixed', and the matter considered resolved by them. (Again, I think the particular, defensive employee felt irritated by my complaint and hurriedly tried to fix the shirt and then be rid of it.) On yet another instance, they picked up some dry cleaning from my home, and one of the items was a delicate silk dress that had a tear in one of the sleeves. The dress is of a very dark color, and patterned, so it's hard to 'see' any defects or tears in the fabric...it's just that, I obviously didn't want an existing tear to remain, as it would naturally only get worse over time. Hence my wanting the tear to be repaired. Well this same employee that I've had issues with in the past called me and said that the dress was 'full of holes'...so many holes that it was pointless to try and repair it. I thought to myself 'really?? is it possible that I somehow never noticed all these holes?....perhaps so...if this is what the employee is telling me...' So they returned the dress to me, and upon receipt I inspected it from top to bottom and.... there was only that ONE tear I'd initially mentioned to them, PLUS one other very small tear nearby, maybe 1/2" long. But yet, somehow in her mind this dress was 'full of tears' and 'beyond their ability to repair'?? So I brought it to a different dry cleaner instead, and said to them 'here is a tear - and this other tiny one nearby - that I would like repaired...can you also please check the dress right now and tell me if you see any other holes?' So they checked it right in front of me, and said they said 'no, I see no other holes'. I said 'so, is this something you can fix?' They said 'yes', took my dress, logged it into their system, and gave me a receipt. I'm not sure I get what it is with this particular employee. 90% of the time they are very good and polite, but the other 10% they do a complete 180-degree turn. Very odd. read more

I moved to the area a few months ago and knew I needed to find a reliable cleaners that would provide pick up and drop off service ina timely fashion. I started out with Grand Ave Cleaners and although they started out great (pick up, drop offs, service etc) they managed to destroy the buckles on my coat and asked me to go out and purchase replacements that they would reimburse me for and never did! HUGE disappointment. Needless to say I started my research again and came across Astoria cleaners who so far have been punctual and even returned my clothes with a complimentary laundry bag (with my name on it) for future use, very nice! Having used this cleaner to dry clean my partner's suits, I came here to have a cashmere scarf and wool winter hat cleaned. When I picked up the items, they reeked of cumin. I wrote a Yelp review to voice my frustration, and the shop salesperson repeatedly called and texted begging for me to remove the review, even saying that they would be fired. I relented and went back so they could "fix" my items free of charge. When I picked up the items again, the cumin stench had been replaced by a strong perfume scent, the fabric of the scarf was ruined, and the hat was covered in fabric pills that were not there before. I am only now publishing this review, but I'm sure I'll be harassed by the store once they see this. Go to Nicole's Cleaners instead! read more

Of the 16 dryers in this location, only 6 are worth anything (read: reasonably "new"). The other 10 require about an hour and 20 minutes to get anything dry. Of the 6 that are worth anything, one is always out of service and 3 are always being used by the in-house employees. This leaves customers praying they show up with one of the remaining two dryers open, otherwise we're paying more than 2x to dry clothes on the weaker machines. Past reviews mentioning people using 4+ washing machines at a time are accurate as well. You could walk in and see only 3 customers in the place and all but one machine in use. The employees are generally accommodating, earning a 2nd star basically by themselves. I've never done the pickup/drop off service, preferring to "save money" by doing it myself, but by the time you battle through other customers and if you get stuck with a bad dryer, you'll come out spending more anyway. Everything can realistically be summed up this way: This laundromat is just too small to handle the amount of business in the area. The new place coming on 31st/Astoria Blvd can't open fast enough. read more

I recently came to this location to have a suit altered for a special occasion. The tailor was never exceptionally kind but but tailored the pants well after 2 tries. However, after multiple alterations of my jacket it was still not where I wanted it to be. He discussed he could not alter it anymore because of the vents on the back of the suit. Regardless, I wanted him to alter the suit more to make it look less baggy. But instead of listening to the customer he argued back with me stating he would not work on the suit any longer. We went back and forth for a bout 5 minutes before he just walked out of the store without any type of reassurance or compensation for not liking the fit of my suit. Over all the years of dealing with a company, they have never just walked out of the store and basically said too bad to sad to me. I was highly dissapointed by the whole situation. Overall I paid about $200 for my alterations. But even with the ability to pay for more he refused to fix my suit the way "I" wanted it. On top of that the lady up front then yelled at me stating even if they altered it more and it became damaged they would not be responsible for it. I would give thus place 0 starts for customer service of I had the ability. So if you ever want a suit altered how you want it I would avoid this place. read more

The staff are also great! I will even be completely honest and say that they lost a shirt of mine, admitted their mistake, paid to have the shirt replaced, and we all moved on with our lives. I found this laundromat while looking for a place that did pick up. The reviews seemed great so I decided to give it a try. I scheduled a pickup for 8am the next morning and was called a few hours later to confirm my details. The next morning a little before 8 the guy came with his van and took my 85 lbs of laundry. The next morning at 9am it was dropped off. If I wasn't moving I would make this a regular. I don't like to spend money on something I can easily do and I don't mind doing laundry...I just hate folding. And since I'm giving away most of my clothes to friends I needed to just do it all in one shot. Besides, I've got less than a week left in Astoria, I don't want to spend any of it in a laundromat. they lose a star only because a lot of my clothes were somehow wrinkled even though they were folded neatly. read more

Regarding their dry cleaning: I had a jacket dry cleaned here recently. The staff I spoke to were all very nice and helpful. I did think their prices were a little steep, comparable to prices at some of the more expensive dry cleaners I have used in Manhattan. They even charged me extra for the belt on my jacket, which I thought was silly. As for the cleaning itself, I've had some really bad dry cleaning experiences in NYC (things came back ruined, shrunken, etc.), so I didn't have high hopes for this place. Surprisingly, my jacket came back freshly cleaned, all stains removed, and even ironed. The only visible damage caused by the dry cleaning that I can see is that many threads on the buttons and buttonholes are now loose. Their turnaround time isn't great - I dropped it off on a Saturday afternoon, was told to pick it up Wednesday evening, and it wasn't ready until Thursday evening. Not sure why it took five days to clean one garment. Regarding their laundry: meh, it's pretty standard. They're a little more expensive than other places in the area ($1.75/wash, $0.25/8 minutes in the drier), but their machines are also bigger, I think. I've never used their pickup/drop off service, because I think it's weird to have someone else wash my clothes. It does get really packed on weekends and in the evenings after work; I usually have to wait a while for a machine during these times. I wish people would learn laundromat etiquette and not use half a dozen washers at once, or I at least wish the staff here would enforce a policy about that. But everyone who works here is very nice; one of the women will even move stuff around and try to get me an open machine when she sees me, and I appreciate that. read more

***UPDATED REVIEW**** So, I want to update this review and change it. I will leave my original marks below. I used Astoria Cleaners exclusively. Then they changed their pricing a bit. So, I decided to go around and try my hand at other laundromats in the neighborhood. What I found was - if one laundromat was cheaper, I realized I was missing items of clothing, I've gotten other people's clothes, or my stuff was damaged. Other laundromats were further and not cheaper. Either same price point, or higher, and the quality wasn't good. Once I returned to Astoria Cleaners, all of my clothes are cleaned, folded, and ready to go super quick. I think this is one of the better laundromats in the area. No problems with lost clothes, or damaged clothes, and the pricing is fine. You can ask them for different water temps and heat temps - which is good for me. The cheaper places just do SUPER HOT to get you in and out - but it destroys your clothes quicker. Also, the women who work here? AMAZING. ALL OF THEM. Everyone is super nice and helpful. Other laundromats, the attendants are distant and/or rude. Which, hey, it's Queens. But, not here. As for the Dry Cleaners - the woman, Sylvia, who is there is my favorite person in the world. I've been using Astoria Cleaners to dry-clean my clothes exclusively (even when I was trying out other places). No complaints really. Sylvia is the real reason I go and the real reason why I have returned. She is so amazing. The pickup/fold thing is great. The guy who comes is super rad. I mean, I tip usually $10 - $5 to pickup and $5 to deliver - and he's super nice and friendly. Don't listen to my review below. This used to be where we came until last winter then a number of problems all at once. First I dropped off dry cleaning after hours at the laundry, but there where no tickets, so since we hadn't had a problem before, I just let her take the clothes without getting a receipt (my mistake). Clothes never made it next door, and the claimed we never dropped anything off. There went a couple hundred dollars in suits, but since I had no proof, nothing I could do. Next, dropped off clothing for regular wash/fold on Monday, supposed to get it back same day, prior to flying out for vacation on Thursday. Stopped by Tuesday, not done, ok fine but promised to be done Wednesday. Stopped by Wednesday on my way home from work, washed, but not folded, was asked to come back in a 1/2 hour to pick up... Getting annoyed, but okay. Wait over 2 hours to go back, cloths still sitting there not folded. Okay big problem now, since I needed to pack. Told them to forget folding and just put everything in bags. I the. Get yelled at by them and told if I have a problem, talk to the owner. So I do, after we get back, I stop by and told the owner everything and why after 4 yrs we were no longer using them. Next day, I have a voice mail from the woman at the dry cleaners yelling at me, saying we never dropped off those clothes, they don't have it, we must have taken it somewhere else (impossible since this was the only place we used at the time).
