Beyond awful experience. I dropped off my dress for a wedding to be hemmed and taken in. I came to pick it up and the stitching was a disaster there was a hole in my dress and it wasn't nearly finished. He said "well you needed it by today so we rushed for you." I came back the next day and the satin dress had a burn/scratch mark from the heat. The woman in the photo screamed at me and laughed in my face. When I said I had a wedding to go to she said " well congratulations there is nothing I can do for you!" They were closed for the entire next week and the wedding is on Friday. I told her it was a 400 dollar dress and she said no it's not. I showed it to her online and she laughed again in my face. After I snapped a photo while she was yelling she chased me out the door and said I'm calling the police. I just want for everyone to be aware of this woman. I don't know if she is the owner or manager but she is disrespectful and ruined my dress and experience. I wish I could give 0 stars. Please stay away. read more

I am beyond frustrated with this dry cleaner. I brought in my dress shirt to be tailored for my best friend's wedding this weekend, specifying the sleeve length I needed. Instead of doing their job properly, they made the sleeves too short--ruining the shirt entirely. To make matters worse, they had the audacity to blame ME for their mistake. How is this my fault? I was clear about what I wanted, and now I'm left with a terrible shirt that I have no choice but to wear because the wedding is in a few days. Tailor is a scam artist. Charged me for work she did NOT do. I had a cute little fabric backpack with a front pocket zipper that would either not zip shut half of the time - or pop open unexpectedly after it was zipped shut securely. So I took it to my local tailor to get the zipper replaced. I will never patronize this establishment because of this shady woman. Here's how it went: Me: Hi! I love this bag but the zipper isn't reliable - sometimes zips, sometimes doesn't. I'd like it replaced. Tailor: (says nothing. Zips the bag. Looks at me like "It zips, you dummy" as if she's irritated.) Me: Yeah. I know. I already said that it zips "sometimes." But it also doesn't zip sometimes and I need a bag with a zipper that stays reliably shut so I just want a new zipper, please. Tailor: (again says nothing. Goes to zip and unzip the pocket again and it doesn't zip closed.) $15 dollars. Me: That's fine. I love this bag so it's worth it. Thank you. I go to pick it up and see that it zips once but don't inspect it any further because why would someone charge me to put in a new zipper - and LEAVE THE OLD ZIPPER? But that's exactly what she did. Upon further examination, you can see the zipper is missing paint from wear, and definitely NOT NEW. So she did no work, let me leave with the same old jenky zipper, and charged me for the inconvenience. What particularly sucks is that I was trusting this business and their service. I left the next day to go on the road on tour for 2 months with this as my sole bag/purse because I had a trusty "new" "working" zipper. And I was stuck with a broken, unusable bag the entire time. Because this woman straight up deceived me and stole my money. (And to anyone who wants to know if I spoke to the owner, no I didn't. Because that right there is some shady business. There is no way to make right once you have straight up stolen from me and lied to me pretending to offer a service you never fulfilled. You don't get a second chance - you lose my business. I've been going to Chic Cleaners since I moved to Astoria 5 years ago. This place does wonders regarding hard to remove stains i.e. chocolate, coffee, sweat stains on the collar, oil, and makeup. Sometimes they fix loose buttons on a coat without asking or mended a slight hole in my sweater. The owners are personable and remember your name and they communicate expectations if they believe that cleaning a stain out may take longer. I've dropped of suits, silk blouses, puffer jackets and wool coats. They all came back looking like new. The hardest things to clean are white coats though but that's a given. I recommend them whole heartedly and I drop off dry cleaning literally every week. read more

I've trusted Chic Cleaners with simple hems to difficult alternations on dresses and my wool coat. From dry cleaning my leather trimmed shirt to my cashmere hat, they have never disappointed. They are 'slightly' pricier than some past cleaners I've tried (i.e. pant hem = $11 compared to $8-ish elsewhere) but they've done such a tremendous job that I don't mind paying the small premium. I feel like the owners are very honest about how easy or difficult your alteration or dry cleaning job will be...and what they can realistically do for you. I once brought a silk shirt in that I ruined with some blue dye. Instead of promising they would clean it and charge me for it, Chic Cleaners was honest and said they probably wouldn't be able to get it out since silk was such a delicate material (and the fact that the stain had been sitting for over 2 weeks). I have been a customer here for over four years and I have never had a problem. I miss them. I recently moved to Ditmars and had a horrible experience with a place close to my new building. I'm definitely going to go out of my way to come back here. The woman who runs the front counter usually knows me well, and has gotten nearly every single stain out of every single type of clothing that I have sent to her (with the exception of some grease on polyester but she faded it enough that you can hardly notice it). Sometimes they give you a little grief about certain stains. "You should have come sooner!" I know, :( I'm a delinquent dry cleaner. But it's rarely a problem. I agree with some people that their prices can be a little steep, but for me it's totally worth it. They're friendly and helpful and once they get to know you they can be quite chatty. Huge fan. I just wish they had longer hours, but I'll get over it. read more

Extremely friendly staff and nice enough people but absolutely ZERO attention to detail. That approach coupled with having an excuse for everything has no place in the service industry. My fiancee at the time recommended this place so I dropped off my wedding suit and shirt to be dry cleaned. I went back after a few days to pick up and discovered that there was a tiny hole on the collar of my suit. They had also somehow misplaced the Garment Bag and hanger I had brought in. I inquired and was told that perhaps I dropped it off in that condition (a brand new suit) and that their wire and cardboard hangers are better for suits.I rolled with it bc it was the day before my wedding and there was nothing I could have done. Appreciating the value of second chances, a few days after my wedding, I dropped off the same suit, shirt, 5 additional shirts, and a work pants. Picked up 3 days later and found that there were missing collar stays from my shirts and the pants was ironed with no creases. I inquired again and was told that I should remove my collar stays before dropping off shirts and that they need to be told when creases on pants are required. Although, the above issues may seem minor, it's just a bad start to my experience at Chic Cleaners and I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I brought 1 dress and 1 2-piece Indian dress to this cleaner to get tailored bc it had high reviews for places in the area. I picked the 2-piece Indian dress up today and when I got home to try it on, I realized that they had removed the zipper from the skirt. They placed a clasp on the top of the skirt and left the rest of the skirt without a zipper. The clasp doesn't hold the skirt on, so every time I move, it opens up and the skirt falls. And the place where the zipper used to be, is just a wide open space where my skin can be seen (right on my butt). When I called and explained, she said the zipper wasn't good so they removed it....but like why wouldn't you replace it???? She said I could bring it back, but I can't. I have no time to bring it back before the wedding. I informed her I have another dress being altered there that I'm picking up at the end of the week and that I want money taken off of the price (since I paid a whopping $73 for them to slightly take in the top and bottom of the Indian dress). She ok'd me off the phone. If she does not take a hefty amount off of the next dress (which they're charging over $160 to alter) I will NEVER return. Over priced and incomplete work. read more

Went in to have several pants and jackets altered. Of the five pants, two came back about an inch and a half longer than we discussed in the store, so they agreed to redo these. Upon the second try, one pant was still a half-inch too long and the other is now about 3/4" too short. Low prices, sure, but I wasn't impressed with the quality of the work. I have used them several times now for dry cleaning (both the previous management and this new one), and I will not do it again any time soon. Previous management was great, new one - hit and miss (some big misses). I used them about a year ago for a suit, and they didn't do a very good job. But I decided to forgive. Well that was a mistake - brought in a relatively new suit to be dry cleaned. When I picked it up it looked great - no stains (that's the positive). However, when I put it on, it was too small - they shrank my suit! It's unwearable now, and it was a nice expensive suit. So yes, they'll do a fine job with your basics, but I would be weary bringing anything too nice or expensive to them. read more

Nice cleaner. Offers good service with affordable prices. The staff here is friendly, helpful and professional. I use them for my dry cleaning needs for few months now. Had a problem with my suit once, found a new stain that wasn't there, but it was not in a very noticeable place, so I didn't get too upset. I have to mention that this was 1 out of maybe 50 pieces that I have brought in here, all other items were cleaner just fine. My job requires (or at least they say they do...) me to have a clean pressed uniform. I never thought I would miss a dry cleaner but since moving east of Steinway, I've found myself making the trip back here after trying two other cleaners. I don't find too much of a difference in the actual cleaning of my items but the pressing at this cleaners is phenomenal. My shirts always come back with plastic clips holding the sleeves in position so they don't get wrinkled in transit. I never thought too much of it until I picked up my shirts from another cleaners and the sleeves were tangled up around the shirt. read more
