The TL;DR version: SMP is simply AMAZING! I never imagined my long-distance move could be this…read morequick, smooth, and stress-free!! The detailed version: I was super stressed out about the move before booking: I had a lot on my plate, and reading about scary moving experiences online didn't help at all. So I did my homework carefully: (a) Check Yelp: get a shortlist of movers with good reviews (I read the negative reviews on purpose and see whether what was mentioned was really a problem with the movers, or just things beyond anyone's control, or sheer ranting...). (b) Check each and every candidate mover in the FMCSA database (https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move/select-mover): see if they are legit and have zero customer complaints (NOT all of those on my shortlist was authorized to do the job - scary!) (c) Getting a quote: I submitted quote requests for three finalists. One of them took almost a week to get back to me. The other asked so many questions online that I almost gave up filling out the form. SMP's online form was very brief - that's just another benefit of flat-rate prices. For my move from Philly to Chapel Hill, SMP also has the best listing price (the flat-rate one listed on their website), AND the peace of mind knowing there's not going to be any hidden fees is invaluable, too! So that's how I decided to try to work with SMP. (***I "try" because I am well aware of the fact that (a) this is peak moving season and (b) my intended move date was only TWO WEEKS away!) I communicated with Nate via email throughout the entire process - the responses were always nice and clear, and definitely as prompt as one could expect from an owner of a busy moving company at this time of the year (and often really swift by any other standards)! Then comes the loading day! We scheduled for 12:30 pm, and Nate and his crew showed up 20 minutes early with a magnificent truck. The guys were super professional, and I was left with an empty studio within 25 minutes!!! (Tip: having everything packed up and ready to go beforehand really helps. Yes, packing is painful and chaotic, but that gives one all the more reason NOT to do that with people waiting...) The original plan was to load on the afternoon of Day 1, the unload on the morning of Day 3. But Nate told me after loading whether they might be able to unload early on Day 2 because the preceding moving project seems nice and small. Of course I happily accepted - and they did arrive at 7pm on Day 2!! This time it's just Nate and Tony, but they still had the job done in UNDER AN HOUR!!! (And they accept Venmo as a form of payment - so convenient!) I'm 90% done with unpacking and everything (including my guitar, my two giant and heavy boxes of electronics, and that cheap little shoe shelf that I carelessly half-wrapped in a padded plastic bag) is in perfect condition! Nate and Tony were also extra careful when placing boxes on the floor at my brand new apartment. If someone told me I could be this happy and thrilled after a long-distance move on a hot and humid summer day, I would never believed him/her. But Nate and his team at SMP truly lived up to their name and offered a SMOOTH and PROFESSIONAL moving experience! I would highly recommend them to everyone I know!

They sure aren't smooth at scheduling. I reached out to them with full pick-up drop-off locations…read moreand full inventory list on May 13. They quoted me the next day. I then asked how to move forward - no answer for three days. On the third day I asked again if someone could please reach out and tell me the next steps and the reply, the next day was that they wanted to know my destination and inventory (ummmm you were given that originally). I again gave the destination pickup/drop off and full inventory list. That was three days ago, no response. Honestly, how can you be a reputable company when you don't respond to client requests? If the job was something they didn't/couldn't do, the least they could do is tell you instead of ignoring you. If this is how they respond in the beginning then how are they going to be with managing your move? Danger, danger Will Robinson.

My experience with All My Sons Moving (32 Coles Ave, Cherry Hill Township, NJ and All My Sons…read moreCorporate Office in Texas) has been the worst service experience I have ever had, and their public ratings across major platforms reflect exactly why so many customers report similar issues. Across multiple review sites, this company consistently scores poorly: * Google: Approximately 3.9 stars, with thousands of reviews * Yelp: Approximately 1.5-2 stars, with a long history of complaints * Better Business Bureau (BBB): 1.97 stars across more than 1,000 customer reviews, despite being "accredited" These ratings are not a coincidence -- they mirror the exact problems I experienced. Please don't take the chances that I did and use this company. You'll be very sorry. I hired All My Sons for what should have been a simple, professionally handled move within Pennsylvania. Instead, the company sent a crew from their New Jersey branch, and from the moment they arrived, the situation was unacceptable. The movers smelled strongly of weed, and the odor was so overwhelming that it transferred onto my belongings, the moving blankets, and into my home. Despite being quoted $1,500 for a move that originally included far more items than we ultimately needed moved, the crew stalled for hours, took an unreasonable amount of time to get set up, and barely worked. They attempted to charge us $200 per hour for 12 hours to move fewer than ten pieces of furniture and no boxes--time that was inflated entirely due to their own lack of productivity. They even took apart furniture unnecessarily, removing every screw they could find, and then struggled to reassemble anything, which appeared to be a deliberate tactic to keep the clock running. To make matters worse, they forced us to pay immediately before unloading the furniture, even though the job was nowhere near complete and their performance had already been unacceptable. They refused to allow me to inspect my furniture after they brought it in. They were holding my furniture in their truck until I provided the person on the phone with a credit card to pay for the move. By 10 p.m., exhausted and frustrated, we had no choice but to let them leave. My husband and I ended up moving most of the furniture ourselves, unwrapping and assembling items they were supposed to handle. The next day, we had to take two cars and make multiple trips just to move basic items like totes and clothing bags--items we specifically hired them to move. Damage Discovered - In daylight, the true extent of the damage became clear. The movers had: * Drilled holes through three credenzas, including over ten holes on the wrong side of two of them * Split a 500+ lb wooden and marble credenza by placing it on its side on a dolly instead of carrying it properly * Stained my couch * Broken a $1,500 art piece * Scratched $1,200 chairs Their lack of training and care was obvious, and their behavior raised serious concerns about whether they were under the influence while handling our property. Claims Process & Geoff Burgess I filed a claim for nearly $10,000 in damages, providing receipts, photos, and videos--evidence the company was aware of from the moment the damage occurred. Since my move at the end of December, I have been going back and forth with All My Sons for months. It is now March, and they have: * Refused to settle * Refused to explain their employees' behavior * Refused to address the lack of training or drug testing * Refused to replace or compensate me for the extensive damage The claims representative, Geoff Burgess, has been a complete roadblock. He: * Refuses to review any of the material proof * Refuses to provide documentation * Refuses to acknowledge the severity of the damage * Blocks any attempt to escalate the issue I even tried going to his supervisor and to customer service, and no one will do anything. Every path leads back to Geoff, who simply repeats the same scripted denial. Their final response was that their insurance would only cover $644 under "limited liability," and they refused to refund the $1,500 I paid for the move. The local NJ operations manager initially told me he would speak with his partner and call me back. He never did. I have texted him multiple times and left a voicemail with no response except to speak Geoff in claims. The company also refuses to let customers speak directly with their executive team, forcing all communication through an internal division that shields them from accountability. I even tried reaching out on LinkedIn to the chief customer officer of all my sons in their corporate office in Texas. Conclusion - This company's behavior is unacceptable, and their pattern of ignoring customers, denying valid claims, and hiding behind internal processes is exactly why they have low ratings on Google, Yelp, and the Better Business Bureau. I wish I had looked more closely at those reviews before hiring them. Don't make this mistake!

Meetunghouse's form for the request was by FAR the easiest to fill out. On the day of the move, they brought everything we needed (moving blankets etc.) We boxed everything else ourselves before they arrived. The three movers assigned were cheerful and helpful and did their job very, very well. We've moved a lot over the years and this was one of the best experiences we had. They even helped us pick up a Facebook marketplace patio set on our way! Remember to tip your movers - it's hard work!!

The packers and movers were two different crews - one worked Thursday afternoon and the other Friday afternoon - which may have contributed to the problem, because the movers were definitely not pleased with the packers. It got to the point towards the end of day 2 where I just told folx to put stuff down because I felt guilty about how hard the move was on them. Based on the other reviews, I'm thinking I might have caught some of the folx on off-days? I will say they were prompt and polite, and Sway really tried to make up for what he could tell was not the smoothest move. It was not an inexpensive move, but the price matched with other companies I got quotes from. *I'd recommend not asking them to move plants because almost all of the plants they handled lost limbs. Not sure how to get around this if you're a person without a car or just want everything moved in one trip, but I'm glad I moved most of the plants myself. Art was handled delicately though!

Had the unmitigated gall to state they could comeback the next day-I was closing on a house sale, so there was 'no next day'. They did not seem to understand this. One of the movers was under the influence- (yes, I smelled it on him), and he dropped a chair that is now broken. Yes, I witnessed him dropping the chair that was being handed to him by foreman, who was in the truck. He held up his hand, and never grabbed it. See picture. I also helped them move items-there were three (3) of them. The incompetence was absolutely astounding. They kept talking about the tip almost from the moment they got there. I requested a crew from West Chester, but was informed that since I was close to Philly, this is the crew I would get. They did NOT get along and argued with each other. They did not listen to nor respect the foreman of the job. He was the only professional of the three (3). Many of my expensive items-solid cherry wood furniture was severely damaged- deep scratches, gouges, broken off pieces of wood. They were supposed to wrap items and wrapped NOTHING! I had to repeat instructions several times: what was being moved vs items to be junked. I even gathered the 3 of them together and walked them through the house AGAIN and pointed out the items items for moving and items for junk, just to have them ask again and again. NEVER use them unless you are moving junk. I gave the same review when asked by the manager to give a review-I also sent a separate e-mail and left a voicemail.
