Call me impressed! I had the best lasagna à la Bolognese I have ever had at this restaurant. It literally melted in my mouth and had me wishing for a second slice. Clearly superior ingredients, including the cheeses of which they use three, superior pasta, and a chef that knows what he's doing! Relative to the wine I had tonight, they have a very large selection of wines where it literally numbers in the hundreds. The 2020 Cesari Amarone I had with dinner was exceptional (rated 4.2 in Vivino). I ended up getting two glasses while dining. Earlier in the day before dinner, I came in for several glasses of locally produced whites that were very good as well and were recommended by the hostess. For you wine snobs that are out there this is truly is a restaurant you want to check out as they have all price points here and kudos to the owner for stocking a very diversified and excellent selection of wines! This restaurant comes across as a very classy establishment as the selection of wines adorn literally three of the four walls within the business. It has a bright clean interior with a nice comfortable vibe to it where any wine aficionado will love the place. It also offers outdoor dining for those that want this environment however, there is quite a bit of foot traffic and cars that go by this restaurant which kind of minimizes the enjoyment of the outside dining Overall, this is an outstanding restaurant if you're looking for a superior dining experience that won't break the bank and enjoy a glass of finer wine, you should definitely check this place out. We stopped here for cocktails and ended up staying for dinner. We ended up inside as they were sold out for outdoor seating-shortly after we were seated they had an opening. We ordered an Old Fashioned and Mojito for Apéritif and enjoyed both. Once again we moved to another table that was outside but with cover once we decided to stay for dinner. Cool Bar area and a party room that housed their extensive collection of Wine. Outdoor seating was okay. We started with the Roman style Artichoke-seemed like it was missing something so we asked for some olive oil and Balsimic vinegar which made a huge difference. The Burrata/Prosciutto starter didn't disappoint with mild, slightly salty Ham. I asked the server which she would recommend-Sea Bass or Frutti de Mare Spaghetti-Frutti de Mare (Poseidon) it is. Full of fresh seafood with a very light tomato sauce-delicious! Were able to substitute spaghetti for ravioli in the Pesto/sundried tomato entree which was a nice touch-Pesto sauce was amazing! We paired it with a recommended Rose-Calafuria-just right fruity with 100% Negroamaro grape. Service was engaged and attentive. This tiny little restaurant near our hotel was one of the best meals we had while in Rome. If NOT # 1 then definitely #2. That is saying a lot. Frist, the service here was incredible. The gal taking our order spoke English, Portuguese and another language that I did NOT catch [no, not Italian :) We started with some cocktails; I had the Old Fashion which was perfectly made. We shared our meals so we could taste everything and everyone was happy. Of course, we had a Charcuterie board and my main dish was the octopus over mashed potatoes; amazing. My son wanted to taste the octopus but we didn't want to order the same thing so he had the fish was was so good. My daughter had a pizza and my youngest, who is the biggest foodie knew he was going to try the cacio e pepe. We were all super happy. Astemio is the place in Rome I most wish I could revisit. First thing: The translation of "Astemio" is "Teetotaler." ;) The first night I visited Astemio just by chance because I needed to use the restroom, so I bought a drink. I liked the place so much that I returned with a friend the next night. I had a large focaccia flatbread with sun-dried tomato with burrata (or was it buffalo mozzarella?) cheese. They paired it with pinot grigio from Trentino area. All the staff spoke English well. Though the bar is owned by a man (I asked whether it was women-owned), it is staffed largely by women, which gives it a classy and happy vibe. You may need a reservation if you want to sit somewhere other than the pretty white bar. If you have a big party, see if you can reserve their private events room. read more

The most charming wine spot. Topped off my recent Rome trip by landing on this gem as a pre-dinner treat after a long day of sightseeing. Astemio came recommended by my hotel, and was all that I hoped for as I was interested in stopping by an enoteca at some point in my trip. That evening, it was staffed with mainly women which I loved. Really warm service. I came in as a solo walk-in and they quickly accommodated me. I stayed for 2 glasses of delicious white wine; they guided me through the choices, each spot-on with what I was seeking. Opting for what I thought would be a light snack, I went with my server's recommendation of the focaccia. Oh my...it came out large enough to serve 2-3 people. Still...I found myself consuming almost half of it because it was so incredibly good. Unlike any focaccia I've had in the States: this was fresh, warm, delectable with the perfect *crunch*...draped in thinly sliced, cured ham. SO delicious. As I waited for my food and sipped on my wine, I took in the beautiful ambiance, the wall of wine and the area where a gentleman was slicing fresh meats and cheeses. We are visiting for my 50th birthday and dipped in here for the celebration dinner and drinks. The staff is so friendly with a sense of humor. The drinks were excellent and the food was the best we have had in Rome hands down. As any 50 year old woman I had chocolate cake for dinner and asked that they not recognize my birthday publicly so our server put a candle in the cake and whispered happy birthday to me! My wife and I stayed at an Airbnb near this place so it was super convenient. However, the reason we probably ended up here at least once every evening was due to the amazing, fantastic drinks and the overall vibe. The outdoor seating near the window we especially loved. The service was also spectacular and I really liked the people working there. We ate the Bruschetta once or twice, which was excellent. It's a great locals wine bar and wine shop with a pretty classic but high-quality menu. The food was all pretty good, the wine selection and pricing was great also. it starts off pretty quiet in the early hours but gets really busy as the night goes on. My partner decided this restaurant to met someone she has not met before but turns out to be a distant relative also staying here in Rome. It is a beautifully appointed restaurant with beautiful waitresses and the wall is lined with some expensive wines. The service is very chic and efficient. I ordered anchovy toast for the appetizer and pasta carbonara for the main course. Both were very delicious. As always I check the washrooms for cleanliness and was impressed by the decor.
