It was a Thursday so maybe things weren't as busy as normal but we showed up a little early and the back biergarten was open so we got some drinks as it was a nice spring afternoon. The bartender was very friendly and when we attempted to bring our drinks around front she let us know that we had to finish them first. The Venue itself reminded me a bit of the nearby Levon Helm studios in that it's an open space with a balcony overlooking everything and seating and standing room on the base floor. One thing I loved about this show is the sound was great. We sat stage left but the PA was subtly piping the DJ and guitar parts from stage right. It wasn't a huge crowd but people were having a good time with some standing room in front of the bar dancing etc. The bartenders were super attentive and responsive during the performance. I have been to Bearsville, Levon Helm and now Colony and I really feel lucky to have such intimate performance spaces somewhat locally. All of the staff were super friendly. Will be back for sure!

Bar was overflowed and took a long time to save everyone, I think no one expected the crowd of that size. Kitchen worked smoothly and food was bar quality but decent. We had a lot of fun and definitely will be back. I took away one star because of the luck of seating. Not enough tables or bar space or any kind of seating for everyone. Only about 50 people who got there at the opening had a chance to get a seat. Others like us lucked out and had to figure out how to eat without a table .

Great venue for a show. First time here. Acoustics were great and not a bad seat in the house!…read more There is a bar with beer, wine, and a few snacks on each floor -- note you cannot bring food or drink into the theater, so give yourself enough time before the show Seats were comfortable and there was parking in the area. After the show we wandered around trying different rows and seats. IMHO there are zero seats with good sight lines. It's odd and we were very surprised. Was it designed this way? Yes and no. When a theatre orders new seats they tell the manufacturer how many seats they need in the hall, sometimes how many seats per row. Either way the seat manufacturer figures out what assortment of chair widths will work. Yes, that's right. All chairs in a row may not be the same size. If you've ever said "hmm I thought these chairs were wider" you got one of the small chairs. This is part of why people buy subscriptions - year to year they keep the same seat, one that isn't small. Sadly as much as I loved visiting Ulster I will not go back to see a show at this venue. NOTE: The UPAC website has outdated recommendations for restaurants. Several restaurants had closed permanently or were not open for dinner. Definitely need to call yourself and confirm hours and availability for the evening you intend to be there.

If you are in Woodstock, you MUST stop here and see a show. It may possibly change your life. It's a little tricky to navigate here in the dark - you feel like you're in the Blair Witch Project, then you will see a beacon of light marking the entrance to the Levon Helms Studio. Follow the light and it will show you the way!

I have always loved going to Levon Helm Studios for excellent live music but will never go there…read moreagain. I am a senior female and was there with a friend to see Marco Benevento. He was doing his closing song and as we were heading out, I wanted to capture a minute of his closing song on phone and stood where the prior photographer had been and was not impacting anyone. So with a smile on my face I was capturing this last minute of the night and from behind me a bully employee decided to manhandle me and pulled my shoulders back and lifted me up and pulled me back, then repeated the action. I was horrified but left there without calling police as I didn't want a scene. My friend was a witness. Got in the car was in pain and crying went to Woodstock police next day and filed a report (described him completely) and there was absolutely nothing done to him by the police who said the assistant DA would get involved .......... never heard anything on this. Another staff member wrote me and said basically I am fabricating etc she spoke with the employee and another one who was there. I have no reason to lie and I had a witness and yet police did nothing and he was NEVER HELD ACCOUNTABLE. I had an injury from him but am healed but will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN TO BE PHYSICALLY MANHANDLED BY A BULLY EMPLOYEE and if this ever happens anywhere else (never in life has this occurred) I will call the police right on the spot.
