Ordered: sourdough appetizer, kids buttered noodles, kids grilled cheese, buffalo chicken sandwich, steak fries. For the adult meals we subbed Caesar salad for the fries. The good: Strong service. Nice atmosphere. Convenient location. Adult meals were solid - good Caesar salad, good chicken sandwich, good steak although cooked rare vs my order of medium rare (better than overcooked). Kids meals were comped without question (see below). The bad: Slooooooow back of house and bar. Kids meals were not good, at least for kids - butter noodles were almost soup from the amount of butter, and grilled cheese made with sharp Swiss and some kind of tomato jam on it. Menu did not hint that the grilled cheese had anything other than bread or cheese, and my kid hates tomatoes. Also, the kitchen messed up our order so everyone was done eating by the time the grilled cheese even came out. The ugly: pretty expensive and I still need to go find food for my kids read more

I stayed in the Hilton Garden Inn hotel here and was super pleased to find thia amazing restaurant located in the lobby. I was starving and really needed some food and a cold beer. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was DELICIOUS!!! I seriously think it's the best I have ever had! I also enjoyed some amazing truffle fries with alilioli. Best part was the service though! Two words, Andrew & Jared Top class! It was my family & I's pleasure and privilege to have had Andrew serve us tonight. It was our first time in the city of Toledo, and not only did Andrew give us the history of the city, so too did he go above and beyond in making us feel right at home. My father had a small issue with the cook of his steak, but no problem -- Andrew solved that right away, despite being host, server and bartender for parts of the evening, having also to wait on a rather large party in addition to us. Furthermore, Jared, one of the chefs that evening, paid such close attention to what orders were coming in and what preparations were going out that not only did we get some perfect grade A chicken for our little Westie puppy back in our hotel, but we learned that dogs (small dogs especially) are highly sensitive to anything having to do with Garlic. Whether garlic-oil or raw/cooked garlic -- it is highly poisonous for dogs to consume. Jared was so concerned for our own dog that he went out of his way to make a comment to Andrew which alerted us to the facts at hand and then made sure to find some chicken that had not yet touched even one clove of garlic and cooked that for our dog, "Andy". All in all, it made for a very special evening! And of course I have to mention that the food was absolutely terrific! I had the Garlic Chicken Alfredo & my mom, their Grilled Chicken Entree. We both loved our plates as they were packed with flavor and cooked so perfectly. Once my father got his steak slightly more rare, he was in heaven! We left the restaurant not only full, but with slight, joyous, tears -- wondering why more restaurants don't provide such service. Service and drinks were good. Most of the entrees were decent. My husband and I were craving for the Steak & Frites and was so disappointed. #1 - No frites! They supplement it with potato chips #2 - steak has no seasoning nor flavor at all! Even with the chinichurie sauce, it didn't fix the flavorless meat. In fact, my husband & I stomach problems all night. Also, Manager on duty comped the meal and when the final bill came in, she credited the entire bill instead of the bill for my husband & I. Came here for restaurant week in Toledo with a few friends. Absolutely loved it. From the ambiance, to the service, the decor, the food and desserts. All around As. Our favourite dish was the mushroom pasta. If I had to give any criticism, I'd say, my salad was supposed to have honey cheese topping which wasn't there and I wouldn't put whipped cream on a creme brûlée. But those are so minor. I had won a giveaway from Assembly and Hilton hotel downtown and was so excited to finally try Assembly. It's perfectly situated inside her Hilton hotel and right in the corner downtown. They have great seating for large crowds, seating at the bar so anyone can some and sit and watch the big game on the TV, and seating for those looking for a more intimate meal. This place has it all. We sat at the bar and wanted to try some small bites and contains to try all the flavors they had to offer. I tried the cranberry orange smash and the apple fizz cocktails. Both were delicious and had amazing flavors. We ordered the French onion soup and the mushroom bruschetta. Both were delicious. The French onion soup had great flavors, but the mushroom bruschetta was the star for me. It had different flavors and was a different take on a classic bruschetta. read more

We stopped in a for a few drinks on 9/12/2025. The bartender was friendly and his service was excellent. The issue was the terrible smell. From the moment we entered the door to the hotel and even into the bar, it smells awful. It must be some sort of sewer gas. Even near the intersection of Monroe and Summit outside after, the smell is strong. We had one drink and had to get out of the area. read more

My boyfriend had the vegetarian Ruben made with beats and no meat! He loved it as he loved Ruben's growing up and has never heard of a vegetarian variation. I had the NY strip steak, it was good other than the steak being a little overcooked. It wouldn't have been too good if it didn't have the citrus chimichurri sauce. From the moment we sat down, he immediately understood our vibe--friendly and attentive without being intrusive while we were catching up with friends. That balance is rare and he handled it perfectly. His recommendations were spot on. The food he suggested ended up being some of the best choices we could have made, and you can tell he really knows the menu and cares about helping guests have a great experience. We dined tonight at Assembly restaurant during Restaurant Week 2026. A lovely restaurant inside The Hilton Hotel in downtown Toledo. We were seated quickly and our server Andrew was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Our food was amazing! The tempura shrimp appetizer was so crispy and delicious, I would go back just for that. My husband loved his Beef short rib on mashed potatoes with sweet glazed carrots. He cleaned his plate. This place is definitely worth going downtown to eat. They also have Happy Hour at the bar from 4-6. Parking in the attached Glass City Center garage only cost 3.00 for the two hours we were there. read more

My husband and I had to drive to Toledo (from Detroit) the other day for business and decided to stop for a "nice lunch"; based on reviews, I chose the Assembly. It wasn't horrible, but we wouldn't eat there again or recommend it to anyone. With a menu that had less than a dozen main entrees (and maybe three entree salads?) you would think the server would consider mentioning if they were out of something, since there were so few options to choose from to begin with. But she didn't. You would also think (or at least I would, I waited tables for a decade) that if one person orders soup as a starter and the other person subs out their fries for a salad that the server would bring the soup and salad out TOGETHER before the meal. But she didn't. I sat there watching my husband eat his soup while my stomach grumbled and when I finally got my sandwich and salad, I ate my salad while my sandwich got cold. The kitchen was slow. Super slow. It was around 2pm and there were three other tables, plus a handful of singles at the bar. There was no reason for food to take so long to come out. My husband's fries had the look and taste of fries that had been sitting a while, quickly re-fried, and then sent out to the table (at barely room temperature). Our server was happy to replace them when we said something, but they should have never been sent out (hubby is a chef, and as mentioned, I worked in food service for a decade; neither of us would have sent out fries like that). He said his burger was "okay"; my sandwich was pretty good -- but like I said, between the service (best described as "okay") and food (barely "okay"), it's not a place I will go back to if I have to travel to Toledo again. read more

Came here for restaurant week. My son had the braised short rib and loved it. I had a bite and it was wonderful. My wife had the scallops risotto. The scallops were perfect. The chocolate peanut butter cake was fantastic. They do a great job with mixed drinks too. Me, I had the walleye po boy. The marmalade was fantastic the walleye maybe over breaded but that's ok. Thought I would try something new for my birthday dinner. From drinks to dessert everything was delicious! The ambiance is wonderful upscale casual. Our waiter was very attentive without being overbearing. He recommended the bread appetizer which the description was 'eh', but it was so good!! I got the grilled chicken which was tender and flavorful and I loved the truffle mashed potatoes. My friend got the pork belly and a side of mushroom au gratin. I want an entire meal size of that mushroom au gratin! We both had the pistachio crème brûlée which was also good. The Chantilly cream on top really made the dessert. When I mention this item to friends, the usual reactions are "what?!" or "ewwww." It's unlike any other Reuben I've had - not greasy at all, and the classic Reuben seasonings really shine. read more

Paid for parking, walked several blocks, arrive at the restaurant and happily see that 80% of the dining room is empty. Tell the waitress "two please" and am told "there is going to be a wait...at least 30 minutes". I literally look around and see an empty dining room, she notices me looking and says "we just had 2 large parties arrive as you can see, both at the same time. And we have a small kitchen." Well...what I could "see" was what looked like 2 tables with about 6 people. Perhaps 2 tables with 2 people. That's it. There were about 20 empty tables out not more. How small is this kitchen? Why is the dining room accommodative to 40 tables but the kitchen can only do 3? Why would i ever, ever attempt to go to this restaurant again? Unless you are staying at this hotel, i highly recommend against going here. Even if it looks empty. read more

Right after dropping our bags off at the hotel, we were famished and decided to have a meal at Assembly American Brasserie. Less than half the restaurant was filled, yet we had to wait 20 minutes for a table, which I thought was odd. Still the service was excellent except for that wait. I loved the ambience of the restaurant, it felt both fancy and yet comfortable. We sat down and we ordered some drinks. My mother got a glass of pinot grigio, my brother got a cider, and I ordered The Grind which was an amazing mixed drink of coffee, bourbon, and other wonderful ingredients. We skipped the appetizer and went straight for ordering main courses. My brother got the Assembly Smash Burger. He absolutely loved it, and I have to say I was a bit envious of his choice, it looked delectable. My mom wanted something simple and got the ultimate grilled cheese, I ate a piece as well as took a few of her parmesan herb frites. They were so yum! I got the Beef Bourguignon. It was a beautiful dish, plenty there to fill, but slightly disappointing. It was a bit light on the beef. We ended our meal by having smores. Amazing dessert! Perfection! The menu has several good options. The smash burger was delicious, the cheese is a strong cheese. The Walley was great. The French fries are flavorful. The Coleslaw was very bland. My wife took me out for a birthday dinner. We ordered two cocktails which were pricey, but excellent. For food, we ordered the King of France for me and the Steak Frites for my wife. My dish was good but not great. The sides were roasted baby carrots, which were very good and baby onions, which were too tough. The truffle whipped potatoes were very good. The protein was a bone-in roasted short rib with an espresso demi glacé which was flavorful and very tender but a bit salty. My wife's dish was substandard; the steak was chewy, too tough and the frites had excellent flavor, but alas, were lukewarm, not piping hot, as they should have been. The service was excellent. The ambience was tasteful with an industrial vintage decor. For my birthday I received a complementary dessert and I chose the pistachio crème brûlée with a marshmallow chantilly, which was delicious. Piping hot frites would've raised my rating to a four and oftentimes can usually save any dish. read more

My daughter and her fiancé chose this restaurant to celebrate their rehearsal dinner and everyone had a lovely evening. They seated our party of 13 in a private dining area and Andrew was our waiter. Andrew was amazing. He accommodated our special requests and made the bride and groom feel special on this spectacular evening. At the end of the evening he even helped us capture the evening on camera! The food was delicious. The warm garlic bread, mahi mahi chef's special and the chocolate cake were to die for.
