Within 48 hours Gilbert submitted a detailed, itemized proposal. This included his fees as well as what it would typically cost for things like cabinets, countertops, tiles, etc. He suggested places for me to get these items. Gilbert coordinated the work to run smoothly and was available every step of the way. Emerson made my tiled floors and walls look like art. Héctor is a gem. He is the project manager who stepped in for various tasks. Everything Héctor did was done with precision and care. He and Gilbert made sure each team of workers left the area clean and made sure I was happy with the work. I made payments as the job progressed and knew exactly what I was paying for. The job ended within the time frame Gilbert had estimated, even with the extra work I asked for. Gilbert Rocha is a man of his word. I love my bathrooms!

Let me add that we previously had the other 3 balconies done in 2022. These other 3 we took the lead on organizing the different contractors for the different work (i.e., demo, structure, electrical, plumbing, railings, flooring, stucco etc). The goal this time was not to be involved and have Rocha take point. Initially, it felt like we had made a good choice, but then we had a pause in having work done. Upon checking in we learned Gilbert was in the hospital. His wife Marie assisted with getting work moving forward. Gilbert was not seen for about 6 weeks. And during this time we had many days when no work was done. Once Gilbert was back he was not the same. We had to spend many hours tracking work and what needed to be done to keep the project moving, along with the bookkeeping, when he asked for a large amount over what was owed. The project took longer than initially projected, which we were ok with to get a good end product. Once the balconies were finished, final payment made, we asked for warranty information, Gilbert Rocha said he would forward. Warranty information was never received after multiple emails requesting. Not even 6 months later our railings are rusting at the welding joints. Gilbert Rocha's emails bounce back and the numbers are not in service. He may be out of business, but we still deserve to have a warranty to have the safety of railings corrected.

Anytime we went over to the house, we were constantly impressed with the quality of work performed, the cleanliness of his crew, and their ability to hit the exact schedule that Troy communicated to us. One thing that is nice about hurst construction is that he has in house specialists that do their specific trade- plumber, electrician, framer, finish carpenter, painter, and a few others. The quality of work you get from these trade individuals is very high because they are working within their specialty. Another thing that was great about Troy was his willingness to meet with us and provide his input when needed. He is a good contractor to solve problems with because he has a very good eye for detail and will always do his work the right way. Lastly and most importantly, Troy is honest with you. He works very hard to make sure that you are happy with his work. If I were to do a high end house in the area, he would be my first call!

Our bathrooms are gorgeous, and we love them. Troy is completely knowledgable in all aspects of his company's workmanship, and this comes through in the final product. His entire crew is amazing! The crew is comprised of extremely talented people who excel in their respective trades...demo, plumbers, electricians, tile installers, quartz fabrication and installation for countertops/bathtub cabinet, painters, carpenters...plus project mngr and foreman who oversee the many details of the project. Also you get the very much appreciated assistance from Bibi, the fabulous designer who is always upbeat and ready to help. We depended upon on her expertise quite often. Additionally, as the project progressed, we found the progress renderings created by her coworker to be most helpful. We are very happy with this friendly and respectful owner and crew of professionals.

Some contractors only walked around the exterior of my home, while others took a quick look underneath. Jon, the field representative from Sunshine Foundation Repairs was different from the moment he arrived. He was on time, friendly, professional, and immediately went into the crawl space to perform a thorough inspection. I was impressed that I received a detailed proposal the very same day. The biggest reason I chose Sunshine Builders was the quality of Jon's inspection. He was the only contractor who identified sagging floor joists in my living room, which likely explained the squeaking floors I had been hearing. He documented the issue with photos and recommended the appropriate repairs, giving me confidence that he was looking out for the long-term integrity of my home--not just trying to sell a standard retrofit. Throughout the entire process, Jon kept me informed every step of the way, from permitting and plan check to scheduling the installation. Communication was excellent, and I always knew what to expect. On inspection day, everything went smoothly. The contractor arrived prepared with all the required paperwork, met with the City inspector, and ensured the inspection was completed without any issues. Jon made an outstanding first impression and represented Sunshine Foundation Repairs exceptionally well. His thorough inspection, attention to detail, clear communication, and guidance throughout the entire process are the reasons why I chose Sunshine Foundation Repairs I would highly recommend them. The proposal bid was right where my budget was.

We had a vision, and Mike brought it to life!…read more We've tackled our fair share of remodel projects over the years, but nothing quite prepared us for the leap into a complete, ground-up ADU build. We knew this wasn't a project to hand off to just anyone, we needed a true expert, someone who could steer us through every twist and turn with confidence. That's exactly what we found in Mike. From our very first meeting, Mike had a calm, reassuring presence that told us we were in good hands. He listened closely to our vision, asked the right questions, and laid out a clear path forward that immediately put our minds at ease. And trust us, our minds needed easing, we came to him with a steady stream of nervous, sometimes repetitive questions, and he never once made us feel like a burden. He answered every single one with patience, warmth, and genuine reassurance. Communication was a true highlight of working with Mike. He kept us updated at every stage, so we always knew exactly where things stood. What could have been an incredibly stressful, all-consuming process instead felt manageable, even exciting. He also took the reins on coordinating with city inspectors throughout the entire build, handling all the back-and-forth so we didn't have to lift a finger. That alone lifted a massive weight off our shoulders. And the icing on the cake? He finished the entire project ahead of the estimated timeline, without ever cutting corners on quality or care. If you're on the fence about a big build like this, let us save you the trouble: call Mike. He turned what could have been an overwhelming experience into one we're genuinely grateful for, and the final result speaks for itself. We couldn't recommend him more highly.

Mike applies his experience well with smart changes to the plans that we wouldn't have thought of, and was flexible when we had questions or changes to make. Overall we're very happy with Mike as a contractor and with the completed addition!

We began our Culver City project with a plan to renovate our existing three-bedroom, one-bath home and convert our garage into an ADU. What started as a 325-square-foot garage ultimately became a beautifully designed 705-square-foot one-bedroom ADU. Throughout the process, EG's consistently exceeded our expectations. The quality of the craftsmanship was outstanding, but equally impressive was the team's communication and guidance. Their insights helped us make smart decisions that balanced our budget with our desire for thoughtful design and high-quality materials. As the project neared completion, our confidence in the partnership led us to take on an additional phase--adding flexible living space to the existing home. Technically a JADU, this unique addition transformed our front home into a four-bedroom, two-bath residence, while also creating the option to close off the rear portion and generate rental income in the future. None of this would have come together without the collaborative approach of Eric, the owner, and the entire EG's team. Their professionalism, creativity, and commitment to doing things the right way made a complex project enjoyable and successful. A special thank you to Eric, Andy, Oscar, Lalo, Abner, Uriel, and Hugo, along with all of the expert partner contractors who contributed to bringing our vision to life. We are thrilled with the results and highly recommend EG's Built Construction to anyone looking for a team that combines quality craftsmanship with integrity, communication, and true partnership.

Where is the 10-star button?!? I cannot recommend Max highly enough. After firing the design…read morebuilder I originally engaged, Max stepped in to complete a full remodel of our little HB cottage. What was once a tired and dated 2-bedroom house is now an adorably modern and expansive 1-bedroom, complete with spa-like bathroom and vaulted ceilings. Unbelievably, the project came in on time and on budget.

One plumber could install a gas line only, another plumber could install a gas line and the gas cooktop but not the hood, and an appliance installation technician could not install the cooktop because he could not cut into the existing granite top. So I found Max of MRI Construction and Remodeling on Yelp, and he said that he could do the work within that original scope -- cooktop, hood, and gas line -- but that we should anticipate a backup plan in case the granite cracked during installation. Because we plan to live in this house for as long as possible, we decided to go through a full kitchen renovation. We had a prior experience with another general contractor who was impossible to get a hold of and who could not ensure the quality of the subcontractors he hired, and interviewed another general contractor who gave us the impression that we would have to engage with suppliers and subcontractors more than seemed feasible. We are happy to say that we just finished our kitchen renovation last week! And it was finished a week earlier than scheduled. We are thankful to Max and his team of subcontractors! We are really happy with the final kitchen, given how much we cook at home. And surprisingly the process was easy despite its size and time of 6 weeks. Max has the strengths and qualities you want for your construction projects: he's incredibly responsive, honest and communicative, and willing and able to troubleshoot issues that come up, as they invariably do, both small and large. He makes recommendations if you ask and gives you options for decisions for which there are too many options. He works with an amazing group of subcontractors who are experts in their craft. There was an exception with one subcontractor but Max was able to get that course-corrected so that the project finished strong. We appreciate his integrity and his willingness to ensure that the project meets your needs and expectations. We are grateful that we found Max on Yelp and for being able to work with him on a kitchen that we love and also within budget!! Thank you, Max and MRI Construction!!

WILMINGTON CABINETS of Wilmington, CA…read more Delighted! What a difference a professional and competent cabinetmaker makes when remodeling a kitchen, bath or other cabinets throughout the house. We first used Tony of Wilmington Cabinets in May of 01 to replace 10 hall cabinet doors damaged by exiting tenants. Not only exceptional doors but built and installed in less than 2 days. They were appropriately simple and met the design of the 1950's house they were in. Since then Tony has provided and installed five complete kitchen cabinets and counter tops the last one just last year (2016). Tony has provided four bathrooms and continues to be innovative and accommodating in every way. He also made custom hall cabinets to accommodate a hidden laundry for my mother-in-law. He also made new doors and added a cabinet to her kitchen. If you have something made for family you better make sure it is good and this was exceptional. I also have the coolest garage cabinets in my garage that Tony built. Tony's experience taught me key issues of preparing a room for new cabinets to ensure a good install and long lasting service. Things like tiling wall to wall before installing cabinets and always providing a vented microwave above the stove so that a tenant does not have to use a counter top microwave and then wonder why they don't have ample counter space. One thing that is a pure fact: if I am not satisfied with what I ordered regardless as to if it was a miss calculation if I simply did not communicate clearly or I was just wrong - Tony always makes right for me and many times (if the fix is small) doesn't even charge. If he has to do a rebuild for my mistake he always gives me a significant price break. I would never expect to have a free fix for my error. I have learned to listen to Tony carefully because he has the experience to keep me out of trouble when it comes to refurbishing my home of any of the rental housing I have. I just never consider the large cabinet suppliers they always cost more and provide less and back up their product only minimally. It is just not worth the risk when I have Wilmington Cabinets at my fingertips.
