Variation of color facings
Allie T.

If there was a rating of no stars, that's what this outfit deserves... if you are looking for scratched, chipped, imperfect color match nail putty, lack of quality and attention to details- look no further. Furthermore, bend over and grab your ankles and pay top dollars! I cannot begin to warn you enough about the sloppiness and unethical character of the owner, Tony Martinez. Not only did he secure more than 1/2 deposit, had me running around in circles for the first three months while he attempted to secure the right wood veneers. Finally, in full circle - came back to producing the right product that I originally shown in a photo from our first meeting. In those months, he tried to push painted cabinets instead of what I wanted "ripped white oak." I guess Four times is a charm- right?! Then, to have the audacity and demanded 20% more as a change order with another lie by justifying, " the cost of wood veneers are extremely unstable, costs keep going up. So, I need more money to buy all veneers in one purchase to secure best price and grain/ color consistency match." So, I got conned into additional cost and another huge deposit demanded by him. Two months have past, I've made several trips to his shop, I see not one single production of my skeletons. Now, it's 5 months into my worst nightmare, he delivered horrific cabinets with no drawers or hardware. He's attempted to make some repairs, but now they look worse. To make matters worse, he stood my representative and me for a walk through this week. Now he's not returning our phone calls. I await to see how this nightmare will continue... stay tune! Chapter two... Delivered some cabinet door facings and colors are not consistent. As we know, he did not buy them all at once to secure consistency in grain and color. One cabinet door had a visible 1/2" dent. Some of the edges where veneers meet are peeling off from insufficient glue or lack thereof. Tony threaten to stone wall the job again my demanding more payment. He walked off the job and called my legal representative 5 separate occasions. With each call, his demeanor changed to be less threatening to wanting to finish the job. Have you ever heard of a saying... " once- shame on you, but twice - shame on me." Since he walked out, I found a great new cabinet maker who will complete my kitchen cabinets, give me the little things like wine rack, spice drawer, and corner lower cabinet shelving , which were originally promised by Tony. In addition, make all the necessary repairs done by Tony, all for less. New cabinet maker would have bid the entire kitchen and linen cabinet and bathroom vanity at a 40% savings! A very valuable lesson learned by me. Chapter Three "hall linen cabinet and bathroom vanity." These are done in black walnut wood veneers. Three lacquer runs on cabinet facings. Corner edge was sanded to a rounded corner. Training and color are inconsistent. Interior cabinets have many scratches. Wood trimming on the linen came chipped and several dents. Nail puddy and repairs were disastrous! Definitely not Tony's skill set to have attention to details. Poor sanding, rough finish throughout. Stay tune for photo postings.

I had contacted Original Richard about a year ago, and we had some email miscommunications, so I never did anything. Then had more work I wanted done on the home, so found another contractor to do that work and the stucco as well. Long story short, I couldn't get that contractor to detail what they were going to do, and the cost was too high. So back to Original Richard. They have a great office staff, and after a little communication, the process began. Believe me, it's messy. Especially the sandblasting part. And we had to prepare the outside by removing or pulling back all the plant life around the house. The first part with the removal of the gutter downspouts and the sandblasting was painful. Noisy, dirty, and empty water bottles thrown all over the place. But I understand this is typical contractor stuff that just happens. And while the sandblasters did a decent job of cleaning up, I did have to call OR to make sure that all empty bottles and other debris get picked up at the completion of the job. And they did. The office staff is great! The second part was the stucco. It took a couple of days to complete it. I worked with them on the color (it's great . . . you don't have to paint your house . . . the stucco comes colored!). Such a great job and the skin on our house now looks beautiful!!!! The house next door to us was doing a major remodel that had taken them months. And I have to say, our stucco and our home looks way, way better than theirs!

Original Richard did terrific stucco and paint job on my parents house 10 years ago. It took a few exorbitant estimates before I thought to ask who did the work at their house. A hole in the stucco from an old dryer vent was patched as well as some cracks. The wooden eaves were painted. They even filled in divots in the eaves left by a prior contractor. This had been an eyesore which had been bugging me for the last 3 years. The crew was professional and showed up when they said they would. Original Richard did a top notch job at a reasonable price.

Within 48 hours Gilbert submitted a detailed, itemized proposal. This included his fees as well as what it would typically cost for things like cabinets, countertops, tiles, etc. He suggested places for me to get these items. Gilbert coordinated the work to run smoothly and was available every step of the way. Emerson made my tiled floors and walls look like art. Héctor is a gem. He is the project manager who stepped in for various tasks. Everything Héctor did was done with precision and care. He and Gilbert made sure each team of workers left the area clean and made sure I was happy with the work. I made payments as the job progressed and knew exactly what I was paying for. The job ended within the time frame Gilbert had estimated, even with the extra work I asked for. Gilbert Rocha is a man of his word. I love my bathrooms!

Let me add that we previously had the other 3 balconies done in 2022. These other 3 we took the lead on organizing the different contractors for the different work (i.e., demo, structure, electrical, plumbing, railings, flooring, stucco etc). The goal this time was not to be involved and have Rocha take point. Initially, it felt like we had made a good choice, but then we had a pause in having work done. Upon checking in we learned Gilbert was in the hospital. His wife Marie assisted with getting work moving forward. Gilbert was not seen for about 6 weeks. And during this time we had many days when no work was done. Once Gilbert was back he was not the same. We had to spend many hours tracking work and what needed to be done to keep the project moving, along with the bookkeeping, when he asked for a large amount over what was owed. The project took longer than initially projected, which we were ok with to get a good end product. Once the balconies were finished, final payment made, we asked for warranty information, Gilbert Rocha said he would forward. Warranty information was never received after multiple emails requesting. Not even 6 months later our railings are rusting at the welding joints. Gilbert Rocha's emails bounce back and the numbers are not in service. He may be out of business, but we still deserve to have a warranty to have the safety of railings corrected.

Where is the 10-star button?!? I cannot recommend Max highly enough. After firing the design…read morebuilder I originally engaged, Max stepped in to complete a full remodel of our little HB cottage. What was once a tired and dated 2-bedroom house is now an adorably modern and expansive 1-bedroom, complete with spa-like bathroom and vaulted ceilings. Throughout the process, Max was responsive and transparent, and was regularly onsite to supervise his subs. He was happy to provide input but also happy to let me make my own choices and decisions. Unbelievably, the project came in on time and on budget.

One plumber could install a gas line only, another plumber could install a gas line and the gas cooktop but not the hood, and an appliance installation technician could not install the cooktop because he could not cut into the existing granite top. So I found Max of MRI Construction and Remodeling on Yelp, and he said that he could do the work within that original scope -- cooktop, hood, and gas line -- but that we should anticipate a backup plan in case the granite cracked during installation. Because we plan to live in this house for as long as possible, we decided to go through a full kitchen renovation. We had a prior experience with another general contractor who was impossible to get a hold of and who could not ensure the quality of the subcontractors he hired, and interviewed another general contractor who gave us the impression that we would have to engage with suppliers and subcontractors more than seemed feasible. We are happy to say that we just finished our kitchen renovation last week! And it was finished a week earlier than scheduled. We are thankful to Max and his team of subcontractors! We are really happy with the final kitchen, given how much we cook at home. And surprisingly the process was easy despite its size and time of 6 weeks. Max has the strengths and qualities you want for your construction projects: he's incredibly responsive, honest and communicative, and willing and able to troubleshoot issues that come up, as they invariably do, both small and large. He makes recommendations if you ask and gives you options for decisions for which there are too many options. He works with an amazing group of subcontractors who are experts in their craft. There was an exception with one subcontractor but Max was able to get that course-corrected so that the project finished strong. We appreciate his integrity and his willingness to ensure that the project meets your needs and expectations. We are grateful that we found Max on Yelp and for being able to work with him on a kitchen that we love and also within budget!! Thank you, Max and MRI Construction!!

Regardless CCS is responsible for the horrible job they did on my house. Oh and since it's been 1 1/2 years since you left the job I am adding a photo of cracking of the stucco in June. Stucco and color coat. David said "we've been doing this over 20 years. We could do it in our sleep". Well from bead blast to what they considered finished, this was a train wreck! Run, do not walk from this company. Read all the other reviews which are just as bad as mine. I was also told by Jason if I took my original one star review down he would "take care of it". We agreed (stupidly) to allow them to use one wall as a test wall. 8 layers of "glue" and color coat changed nothing. It was bad prep from the head blast that left uneven surfaces so I have a leopard house. Then they were going to "stain" the stucco! Their choice was Acribond from Vista. I spoke to the expert at Vista and said "we make paint and only paint. Acribond is a water thinned paint". So CCS's website says to never paint stucco. Hmmmm. Now I have one 1/2 painted test wall and 10 months later they never fixed a damn thing, and all of their work is cracked and now showing the old color. Absolutely worthless company run by thieves.

This wasn't just a cosmetic remodel. The bathroom was completely gutted, and the electrical and plumbing were updated and reconfigured, including relocating the light switches and adding new lighting. We removed the old bathtub and created a beautiful walk-in shower, enlarged the shower window, added a built-in bench and niche, and completely updated the tile, flooring, vanity, fixtures, and finishes. The tile work is absolutely beautiful, and the attention to detail throughout the bathroom is incredible. We were able to choose everything we wanted, and Bryce and his team brought our vision to life even better than I expected. One of the things I appreciated most about Bryce was how involved he was throughout the entire project. He came by every day to check on the progress, and he was hands-on with the work himself. He was always easy to talk to and approachable, and whenever we had a question, he took the time to answer it. He was also very transparent and upfront about costs, and if something unexpected came up, he communicated with us honestly. Every person he brought into our home was professional, respectful, and considerate of our space. Bryce also worked really well with my husband, and I appreciated that they were able to communicate openly and make sure everyone was on the same page throughout the project. At the end of the day, the quality of the work speaks for itself. I am absolutely blown away by our new bathroom and couldn't be happier with the finished result. If you're looking for a contractor who is honest, professional, knowledgeable, hands-on, and genuinely cares about doing things the right way, I would highly recommend Bryce and LVL General Contracting. Throughout the entire process, he took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of our questions/concerns, was proactive in finding solutions, and made us feel confident that the work was being done correctly. The quality of the work was excellent and his team worked efficiently to complete the project in two days. On top of the emergency repair, we also decided to update the vanity to match the new floors. Bryce went above and beyond by helping us with materials and design choices late on a Saturday night. We knew this wasn't a project to hand off to just anyone, we needed a true expert, someone who could steer us through every twist and turn with confidence. That's exactly what we found in Mike. From our very first meeting, Mike had a calm, reassuring presence that told us we were in good hands. He listened closely to our vision, asked the right questions, and laid out a clear path forward that immediately put our minds at ease. And trust us, our minds needed easing, we came to him with a steady stream of nervous, sometimes repetitive questions, and he never once made us feel like a burden. He answered every single one with patience, warmth, and genuine reassurance. Communication was a true highlight of working with Mike. He kept us updated at every stage, so we always knew exactly where things stood. What could have been an incredibly stressful, all-consuming process instead felt manageable, even exciting. He also took the reins on coordinating with city inspectors throughout the entire build, handling all the back-and-forth so we didn't have to lift a finger. That alone lifted a massive weight off our shoulders. And the icing on the cake? He finished the entire project ahead of the estimated timeline, without ever cutting corners on quality or care. If you're on the fence about a big build like this, let us save you the trouble: call Mike. He turned what could have been an overwhelming experience into one we're genuinely grateful for, and the final result speaks for itself. We couldn't recommend him more highly.

One thing that set Mike apart was the 3D renderings. That was a step above what we expected. We could see the layout before anything was built, and Mike could make any adjustment we asked for with seeming ease. We reviewed the changes quickly and landed on the perfect layout. We never had to guess what the finished home would look like. We were nervous about hiring a contractor. We'd heard the horror stories about unreliability, poor work and overpaying. Mike put those fears to rest early. He listened closely, answered every question patiently, and never made us feel like we were asking too much. We felt like partners with him, not just customers. He cared about the outcome as much as we did, and he kept working until we were happy. If you have a vision for your home and need someone who can design it and build it, call Mike. He was a blessing to work with, and we now have our dream house. We were so impressed with the process that we immediately started a 1000sqft ADU with MDM that was just completed. I say "with" because they both were absolutely with us every step of the way. The schedule and commitment they made with us was as equally important to them as it was to us. We had some hiccups. No project that I've ever been involved with goes without a hitch. And our house was built in 1963, and the kitchen was last updated in 1992. So there were a lot of challenges to be met and issues to be dealt with as the kitchen went down to the studs. But Elena is a master project and business manager. And Dmitry is actual an artisan, with a team of very skilled people at the ready to do the work and handle the problems. Even when we had issues with the vendors for the appliances, Elena stepped in and worked the white spaces, smoothing over the issues and getting everyone back on track. Dmity himself literally built custom solutions real time at the work site. We had several challenges because of the way the house was initially built, and he overcame them one by one with creative solutions that were not simply kluges but are now permanent fixes that passed ALL Final Inspections. Which brings me to another point: Dmitry did all the plans for submittal to the city, and Elena submitted all the plans and permit requests, interfaced with the city for all inspections, and gave us copies of all the final inspections and permit information for our files. We paid for those services, and I will tell you it was well worth it. It bears noting that we lived in the house the entire time the work was being done, except for the 12 days when we were on vacation out of the country. Pulsar kept working the whole time we were gone, safeguarding our home, and keeping us in the loop even though we were eight hours ahead. Pulsar was not our least expensive bid. But we made the decision early on that we would not cut corners on this job. We are very grateful to have found Dmity and Elena. They were easy to work with, had respect for our property and our schedule and our budget as much as possible, and never made us feel sorry about choosing to with them. I recommend you choose them, too!#
