    Crispy duck!
    Amanda G.

I'm still very happy with my go-to lunch spot whenever I work in Hawthorne, but have had to switch up my order as of late. The guys that deliver are very courteous, although sometimes when my office building's parking lot can get pretty hectic, they aren't able to bring our order to the door. They'll always call and ask for us to retrieve if that is the case and we try to accommodate. The people that take the orders over the phone are efficient. I've had a few times where they weren't sending utensils and after a few times of asking, they automatically put the request for utensils on my phone orders without me having to ask. They open at 1130A on the weekdays I work and they're always busy, so delivery can take 45 minutes or slightly longer. I honestly don't mind because for the most part, you know they have great turnover. I have been ordering less sushi because the last couple of times, the fish wasn't exactly the freshest. I had sashimi and one of the pieces of fish was an ammonia bomb in my nose and mouth. If you've ever had that happen to you, you know that it's because the protein is breaking down and the ammonia smell and taste is a byproduct. It's strong enough to make you think that the fish was dipped in cleaning solution but I assure you that's not the case. During these particular instances, it wasn't strong and I could not immediately smell it coming from the fish but it happened once a long time ago, and I stopped eating anything raw, and the other day I took a chance and ordered the sushi & sashimi lunch special, and experienced the same thing. I'm back to not ordering raw fish from there right now. My coworker and the owner of the company, alway order raw items from them and have never had an issue that I know of. Duck dumplings, pork dumplings, Tom yum soup and pad thai are all good, but recently I had their crispy duck and it was really good! It's an entire half of a duck, hoisin sauce, baby bok choi, and a pint of fried rice with pineapple. I had some pork dumplings as an app, and the entrée came with choice of soup or salad, so I went with wonton soup. There was so much food. I had enough for my lunch, and later shared some with my kiddo for dinner. I don't want to grow to not like this place. The majority of my meals here are very good. I order at least twice, weekly. Maybe if I dined in person I would feel more confident ordering raw items, but not for takeout. There's no one to complain to and I'm ultimately out of my money *and* my lunch, so I'll just stick to the safe cooked dishes. I'm not deterred. I'll definitely order again.

Was recommended this spot by a friend and finally decided to try it out for dinner! Our waitress took a while to come to take our order (12 min) Appetizers: Fried Calamari - Was absolutely delicious, loved the sauce and spice flakes on top 10/10 Salmon Roll- Delicious and fresh, this place has some of the best sushi in town. I asked for a side of teriyaki sauce which again didn't arrive from our waitress, she also didn't give us any small plates or utensils, however, the owner stepped up right away and became very attentive not only to us but he was running around the restaurant. Main: Beef Lo Mein - the dish was a 10/10, very light on the stomach but lots of food left over Shrimp fried Rice- I enjoyed the rice a little less but still delicious only wish there was more shrimp Dessert: Hazelnut Chocolate ball: small but delicious dessert after everything, took a while to come out but worth the wait! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall I really enjoyed this local place; it was beautifully decorated and quite busy for a Saturday, only complaint would be the waitress we had but the owner really did step up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would come back for lunch or another dinner!

The chicken fried rice was lacking in chicken. They apparently don't understand what fried rice means. It is supposed to be literally sautéed, and have soy sauce, etc. mixed into the rice and vegetables. And for $15, I guess they stuck in 1/2 of an egg and a handful of frozen peas and carrots. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Additionally, the front desk needs to be cleaned up. It looks like a hodgepodge of junk, as does behind the desk[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cleanliness is of utmost importance everywhere in a restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Based on the front of the business, I am afraid what the kitchen would look like.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My boss is in from Ireland so we had a usual team lunch. Wow this was the wrong place to go for a professional lunch but we made the best of it. We were seated fairly quickly. The issue came when the 45 degree breeze every time the door open. We all were Shivering actually. We politely asked to move because we saw a whole wall empty in the back with tables and chairs. We were refused, but I Remember leaving and seeing a party of 5 back there. The server rushed us when we were ordering to the point we were all on edge. It was uncomfortable at best. He was speaking very fast and just poor service altogether. Oh I also had the only dish that didn't need to be cooked and was the last one to get my meal. I'm not going to bring up that I was the only...never mind not worth it. 2 STARs is for the lunch special it's a pretty solid deal. Won't be back.

They are very nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's clean and the decor is kinda funky![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I loved both the Chinese and Sushi. Great ribs. Homemade big fat dumplings and the chicken was fried and so good! I loved that the house fried rice was white and not brown. I'll be coming back!

When you order sushi takeout they never include chopsticks. It's very annoying. Food is good though.

Westchester staple for Asian Fusion: The staff is always super nice. They make great lychee martinis and I recommend the Mongolian beef.

First of all, prepare yourself. If you're coming from the city, it will take a while, and a cab…read morewill cost you. It is worth every penny, more on that later. Come early if you can so you don't miss anything. The tour is really cool - I could listen to their seedy stories all day. It is an incredible meal. Everything is fresh, and it's just amazing to try all these flavorful veggies and realize that all food can and should taste this good. Our starters include a fresh stalk of fennel, cucumber with yogurt, spinach lettuce to be snipped with scissors, etc, etc, omg so much more. We got a lot of asparagus and peas made in many ways, and it was magical. There are fascinating food lessons throughout the meal, as we're introduced to the four plants in the buckwheat family with a delicious "horseradish tofu" and buckwheat dumplings in dashi. Purple Passion Asparagus is literally the best vegetable I've ever tasted - all the sweetness of asparagus amplifed with literally none of the unpleasant fibrous stalks. I also loved trying an egg from a waste-fed chicken. The bread was pretty burnt on the bottom so the taste was a bit off-putting. Unfortunate as it was really interesting to try the single udder butters. Getting to see chef Dan up close was awesome (sorry, chef, I'm the weirdo who took 50 photos of you). And yes, I did ask and the staff assured me it was okay. Every table gets a different menu, and I can honestly say I loved everything I ate. Altogether, it's the most amazing experience - I have never sat down to dinner at 5 PM and not left the table until 11, and the food is so fresh and so good that I still felt good after eating so much. My only advice is that you should definitely ask for something if you want it. My fault for forgetting to ask - I would have really liked to try the veal, and it also sucked to get just steak while the table next to me got bone marrow. That said, I would still highly recommend this experience and would absolutely come back for more.

Truly incredible experience from start to finish, and probably now my husband and I's number one…read moredining experience to date. We loved the farm tour that started our evening (eating a stalk of the best asparagus I've ever had plucked straight from the ground was a definite highlight) and getting to learn more about Blue Hill's philosophy of farm to table cooking and using as many parts of each animal as possible. Service was attentive but not stuffy, and everyone we interacted with that night was personable and enthusiastic about their work. For dinner service we sat in a corner booth and listened to the soothing sounds of bird calls interspersed throughout the evening. We began a litany of courses that consisted of the farm's freshest produce of the season, which was delightfully hands-on. Some of our favorites of the evening came later, in the buckwheat 4 ways course and the two types of asparagus, as well as the best celttuce preparation I've had. The field trip to the kitchen was fun and we got some delicious buckwheat chips and cow bone rind brie. Even though we didn't love the toughness of the dairy cow that was served in one of our later plates, I appreciated the thought that went into the conception of the course, and there were more than enough wow/extremely delicious other components & courses to balance that out entirely. As a ceramics enthusiast, a lot of the plateware was also very beautiful, especially the pieces that were sourced from dairy cow bones. What a lovely way to honor all parts of the animal! A tip to try the non-alcoholic beverages/mocktails if you're not otherwise doing a pairing. We had some excellent drinks throughout the night at a very reasonable price point for a restaurant of this caliber and I was thoroughly impressed by the thought and care put into every component of the menu. The beverage menu itself was printed on a lovely map of the grounds and I was able to take one home along with a polaroid of us in the kitchen and a small loaf of whole-wheat bread that I ate with butter in the following week. Just a delightful experience all around and I'll be thinking about it fondly for many years to come!
