I am having a hard time deciding what star rating I should give this place. The food is great. The service is usually good. Delivery is prompt and courteous. But, I have one serious issue with the way they do business. Their website states that the lunch menu is available until 4 PM. That is not true if you order for delivery on the website. I ordered my food at 3:19 PM today (that's before 4 PM in the real world...) and when I tried to check out the site told me that my order was invalid because THEY wouldn't have the food READY BEFORE 4 PM... (WHAT? How is that my fault?) So, I reordered my food from the "dinner" menu, which is more expensive and the menu selections are different. We had to settle for different things than we wanted and ordered less food. The punchline is they got the food to my door by 4:03 PM. I thought that the site said I couldn't have the lunch menu because they wouldn't have it ready until 4:19 PM? I don't know what the deal is with the "policy" concerning the cut-off for the lunch menu, but it's shady. I don't know if it is done by design or not, but my bill went from $35 before a tip off the lunch menu, to $65 before a tip when I reordered off of the dinner menu, and the orders were essentially the same (the second order even had less food on it). Buyer beware when using their website to order. The food is great. The service is good. The drivers are good. They even throw in free entrees from time to time. Dine-in or do take-out. This is my favorite restaurant in Yuma. Lots of fresh tasty veggies in a savory sauce and generous portions of tender, juicy chicken. The wonton soup is especially good. I like the brown rice option. We are full time RVers and have been all over the country and are originally from Buffalo, NY. This was hands down the worst Chinese food we have ever had. We spent $80 on items and the only thing that was edible was the sweet and sour sauce. Even if they read this and offered us free food we would not take! Food had absolutely no flavor. So, I ordered the Pad Thai on doordash. This is NOT pad thai. Its not bad though. It's like rice noodles with sweet and spicy sauce, chicken and shrimp and then has some bean sprouts, egg and a sprinkle of peanuts. Not at all Pad Thai though. Been here a bunch. It is a fusion restaurant but I have only had the Chinese food here and it is pretty good. My only complaints are as follows, their wonton soup is just broth with won tons. Their wor wonton soup is soup, broth and a small amount of veggies. Their won tons are good, but they need to step up their game with their won ton soup. We ordered take out, a bunch of stuff and as a result they included some free stuff, presumably because I ordered so much. They gave us a free order of cream cheese stuffed won tons, which I did not try but everyone else seemed to like and a free order of hot and sour soup. I think the soup the gave was bad/spoiled. It didn't taste right so I ended up dumping it down the drain. This was a nice gesture though and we have eaten their since then. First time eating here today. Ordered chicken katsu. First off, the positive: miso soup is good,wait staff is friendly and attentive, atmosphere is light, establishment is clean. Negative: katsu was just ok, crispy and dry. Breading it is fried in was not good and katsu sauce tastes like ordinary off the shelf bbq sauce. "Interesting" place. It's got quite a breadth of Japanese, Chinese, and Korean menu items, and the food we got was not too bad. However, the server we had was sullen, behaved as though this was the last place he wanted to be, and failed to bring some really simple things (a little dish to mix wasabi and soy sauce for sushi, plum sauce for our mushu chicken, and the bill). I had to literally chase the guy down to get each of these. All grumps and glum until it was time to pay, then "I hope you had a wonderful dinner, and have a great rest of your evening," in case we were uncertain about how much to tip. read more

I came here for their lunch special and ordered the 3 roll special for $12 with choice of house salad or miso soup. I ordered the house salad and expected a small salad with a drop of dressing WRONG!!! It was a large salad with plenty of dressing. I was actually very very happy cause I love the dressing. The salad was GREAT. I knew after this that my lunch was gonna be great and sure enough IT WAS! :-) I attached some pics. My 3 rolls were large and VERY yummy. It was soo good, that I came back the very next day.. My server the next day wasn't quite as nice as the day before but service was still good and I had no real problems. I highly recommend this place for great food and large portions (I did look around to see what other people had ordered and their chinese lunch specials were huge) GREAT FOOD, GREAT PRICES, GOOD SERVICE. I was really looking forward to Asian/Chinese lunch today. I have never been so disappointed. I ordered the Pad Thai. Yikes! I have NEVER seen Pad Thai look like this. I didn't want to judge before I tasted it. Wrong! It tasted as bad as it looked. The shrimp even had a muddy water taste. I can't even describe the flavor of the sauce. And the white rice!!! Over cooked, glue ball is all I can say. Asked to order something else. waitress suggested Orange Chicken. Not as bad as the Pad Thai but close. Definitely over fried the chicken. Hard and dry. I stayed at Best Western and they delivered. Super nice on the phone and fast with delivery. I had a large order, peking duck (a little tough but still good, skin crisp), shrimp with glazed walnuts (deserved 10 stars...WOW!), steamed shrimp dumplings (excellent), and they gave me a free beef with onions and bell peppers because i spent so much, which also was very delicious. Not goi g to harp on the duck, i should know better, thats nest eaten in the restaurant since it needs to be hot. All in all, a superb experience. Love getting lunch here. I have loved Mongolian beef since I ate it when I worked at Little Ceasars in college. It has more of a kick here, but you get used to it and it hits the spot every time I have a craving. They also randomly give free items at time if you order often or have a larger order. Free is free. Most times it is just almost time to be wasted, but is perfectly fine to eat. So enjoy the free additions when you get it and they make great food! read more

Heavy on meat, extremely light on vegetables. It was sad seeing the quality on this restaurant plummet. They kept cutting the cost by eliminating vegetables. As they reduced the amount of vegetables in all of their dishes, the quality of their food reduced along with it. But they didn't lower the price as they lowered their own food costs. yikes!!!!!! the first time i came here, we had no wait and it was on a Wednesday night around 630pm...we sat, ordered sesame chicken, eggplant and tofu, shrimp fried rice, and egg drop soup. The egg drop soup came lukewarm, not much taste, so that was a little disappointing...they then served us our fried rice and eggplant and tofu. fried rice was not bad, but not all that great...our eggplant and tofu was really all mush, they cut the eggplant and tofu way too small....we waited and waited for someone to come around and ask if we needed anything. the thing was, we didn't have the same person who took our order and who brought us our order so there was no consistency. finally, we ended up getting our bill with no sesame chicken to our table or on the bill so we were like whatever...the rest of the food was blah, so we didn't bother. yes this place was reopened and is nicely remodeled...ambiance is very nice, but the food and service was just blah...i wanted to try this place again because i was thinking, maybe it was just what we ordered. their menu is pretty extensive... on to the bad part! i was eating next door at subway and sitting down near the exit of subway facing the 32nd and 4th ave light when i saw the door swing open for the back of the kitchen of asian star. i see this lady just drop a box on the ground. she takes this big frozen block of fish out on top of a plastic bag and starts to separate them...as she's doing this, some of the fish are now directly on the ground and she continues to put them in this big pan!!!!! as she's doing this, 2 males come out to talk and they are smoking directly over the frozen, starting to melt fish!!!! i was definitely grossed out!!!!!!!!!!!!! she was out there for almost 30 mins and with the sun gleaming down, melting this frozen block of fish, that can't be too good due to bacteria growth! i am just utterly disgusted! i will never, ever eat there again! who knows how they prepare everything else! i know a lot of places, we can't see what goes on behind closed doors, but for sure, since i saw this with my own eyes, i will not be back. good luck to everybody who dines here! may you all have strong enough stomachs!!!!!!! pictures attached... read more

Asian Star - 2 male workers smoking near the frozen, starting to melt fish - Japanese Near Me - Yuma, Arizona

For some reason, I was expecting an Asian buffet. Asian Star is not a buffet... it is a sit-down restaurant with a small (5-8 person) sushi bar (their rolls looked great!). The place was pretty busy for lunch, complete with understaffed servers rushing around and a 5-minute wait for seating even though several tables were open. The interior has a new, contemporary style. The Ikea-inspired furniture made some snowbirds look like they needed a second seat (No offense, just being honest). The spacing between tables was minimal, and had more of an Asian-Euro feel as if you were dining with those at the next table (unless you sit in a booth). The dishes range from about $6 to $6.50 and include a choice of soup, type of rice, and entree. I went with the Pad Thai. For the record, it is called Pad Thai because the dish is inspired by the Thai's! What I received was Chinese-inspired Pad "Thai" with a sweet chili sauce instead of Pad Thai sauce. The portion, quality, and taste was good for the price. It just didn't resemble the traditional Pad Thai I've had in Thailand or Hong Kong (or in California for that matter). It should be described more appropriately on the menu. The Miso Soup, however, was consistent with the traditional recipe. To be honest, the customer service needs some work. It may have been because they were understaffed, but my server did not even ask how my food was. Overall, I had a decent experience at Asian Star, but I wouldn't describe it as being anything extraordinary. If I had to suggest either Asian Star or EAT Asian Super Buffet, I'd suggest trying EAT Asian Super Buffet. read more

From what I gathered from others, this restaurant is either new or re-opened. We went here on a recommendation and was glad we followed up on that recommendation. So much so we returned a second time before leaving Yuma. Long lines formed to get in which says a lot right there. Seating is at tables with some booths. Not a big dinning room. The food: presentation was excellent. Portions big. Taste was excellent. Our two times there we had aprox 10 dishes and we liked them all. We shared each dish. Service the first night was kind of slow. The second night it was fast and the dining room was stuffed full of people. ??? But it was all worth the wait. This has become one of our favorite places to eat in Yuma. Oh, if you are expecting the Chinese food combo's - not here. If you are expecting a buffet - not here.
