This is the best Chinese food we have found in our area. The ingredients are fresh and they do not use MSG. The staff is very friendly.

The food is OK if you just want a quick Asian food experience, but their customer service SUCKS. I called in an order and when I picked it up, it was lower than what I was quoted. I wanted to make sure I had the right order and I didn't want to stiff them for their money so I brought it to the cashiers attention. After looking at my ticket and comparing it to the ticket in my bag, she charged me an additional 12.00. Only problem was, she used another customer's card and GAVE ME THE CARD!!!! I pointed out to the lady AGAIN that she made a mistake. She returned the woman her money with cash. At this point, I said I have saved you twice from making a mistake and possibly 3 times because the person whose check you gave me the first time was lower than mine. I didn't get a thank you (except from the lady whose card was charged), an eggroll, or even a cup of tea. I spent 50.00 on a take out order with them. It may not seem like much to some but customer service is everything to me. Not watching how you handle my card/money, and not saying thank you are 2 of the fastest ways to lose my business QUICK. Food two stars. Food came out pretty quickly but one dish came out a good bit after the others and was not hot anymore. Forgot it maybe? No biggie. Overall the staff was very nice and checked on the table often. We only had Chinese and didn't try the sushi or Japanese so I have no comment on those. Ok. Hot and sour soup was not good. Tasted a bit burnt and just wasn't in the realm of some other places. The egg roll was not good either. Not saying it wasn't but didn't taste home made and the sauce was obviously from a jar. Not good. Fried rice was pretty tasteless and was old and dry. You can see it in he picture. The waitress recommended the Mongolian beef which came out hot and fresh. Lots of onions and a decent sauce. Wasn't great wasn't bad but was super salty. The General Tzo chicken came out a bit on the cool side but was decent. No where near the best in the city. I would really rate the food maybe one or two stars but the service was good and I hope they make it as it seems from the other reviews they have a bunch of people rooting for them. The sushi in the pictures looks good and I would come back to try it if in the area although I would not come back for the Chinese food. The issues I mention on the food are easily addressed and I hope the owners take this review as constrictive criticism. read more

I went here based on other's comments in Yelp. I ate lunch here today (Wednesday) and it was one of the best Asian meals I've had in Memphis! All of my food (crab rangoon, hurricane roll and hot & spicy chicken) arrived quickly, fresh and perfectly prepared. The crab and chicken dishes were hot and tasted amazing! The hurricane roll was perfectly proportioned and full of flavor. Overall, I couldn't believe what a small wonderful find this place is! Grabbed some Sushi & shrimp fried rice from this place to take home. The service was excellent & they were very nice! The food was good & a good price. We got 4 regular rolls & a large shrimp fried rice for $26 & it was plenty of food for 3 of us (the rolls are good size). I look forward to trying more dishes from this place. read more

I just recently moved to the Bartlett area and Ive been looking for a great Chinese restaurant because my family loves Chinese food. We've been to several Chinese restaurant in the area and they weren't good at all. The Asian Star was next on the list and boy were we pleased. Omg! They serve Chinese and Japanese!! The food was great and the yum yum sauce was everything. I'm so happy that we've finally found out favorite Chinese restaurant. The prices are great as well. I purchased a groupon for this place and came for lunch on a Wednesday. The place was quiet. I ordered the hibachi steak lunch with a sushi roll and my husband ordered lo mein. Ordered chicken and shrimp hibachi...when i got home noticed only 5 shrimp in whole order side salad was only lettuce and a few strands of shaved carrots with ginger sauce...pathetic...called back up there to let them know only 5 shrimp ..he talked with chef and chef said 8 shrimp...so tons of vegetables not a lot of shrimp chicken was ok...needless to say would not replace order 11.72 down the drain I'll never go back...I now know why restaurant is mostly empty when i pass by....Keep your money this place is a waste!! read more

I was disappointed that yet ANOTHER Asian restaurant went in. It seems like Bartlett is overloaded with Asian restaurants. My husband loves Asian food, and I am way selective, but I told him we could give it a try. We've been to MANY restaurants only once. If it's not really good, we don't return. I will have to say that we will definitely be returning to this one. The food is fresh, hot, and really good. My husband ordered a Shrimp hitachi dish. It was wonderful. I ordered Hunan Shrimp. It was soooo good. No one in Bartlett has this dish other than Asian Star. It tastes just like my favorite dish at Saigon Lea in Midtown.they have a luncheon menu along with their regular menu. Face it, there are just days when the old Witch just doesnt feel like hauling out the cauldron and cooking or getting the broom out of the garage and taking a ride. For those days, I order Asian Star!! The online ordering is easy and convenient. I'm not always good with people, imagine that? And faster than a black cat can catch a mouse, my order is at my door brought by an Asian gentleman with a huge smile and great disposition. So far I havent found anything I dont like, and that is saying something because the Witch, can be a ....welll you know ;) So the next time the cauldron is dirty, or your broom is running hot, give them a shout and they will bring dinner right over-hot and generally in less than 30 minutes!!! read more

This is our new "go-to" restaurant for Chinese and Japanese food. We don't have to go to two separate restaurants anymore. Now we can get sushi, hibachi, and wonderful Chinese food all at the same place. Everything is super fresh and cooked to order. They use no MSG which means no migraines for me and the chicken is delicious white meat chicken breast and not that pressed crap or greasy dark mystery meat than a lot of other places use. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they also deliver. We have been several times already. They are very friendly and the food is brought out quickly. If you want something that isn't on the menu, just tell them and they will try to fix it for you. They also give great recommendations. I have tried things I never thought I would try and have got some new favorite dishes. I think they will be in Bartlett for a long time to come. read more

Very, very pleased with this restaurant! I thought it was over for me finding a good Asian restaurant, until I stumbled upon this place. First thing- they keep place very clean 2nd- food is always fresh and not swimming in a sauce, but still very flavorful and well made. 3rd- customer service is remarkable, I am always greeted with a smile and if I have to wait for the food they always offer me some sort of drink. They only use meat that is US approved, also the owner is a Vet.(So let's support our service man and his family who is in search for the American dream) I have nothing but good things to say about this place. My husband and I love this place! We have been there several times and the sushi is great! We have also had their hibachi and some of their chinese dishes but the sushi is by far our favorite. The prices are reasonable and there is a large variety of dishes to choose from. I think what impresses me the most is the owner and his drive to do well! We had a mistake in our order once and he fixed it with a smile and a warm apology. He will give samples to his regulars of special sushi rolls or dishes he is trying. We got take-out, and after spending an extra half hour to drive back to Asian Star to get the correct order, everyone was starving by the time the food showed up. Me and my husband had another place in mind to eat but we decided to try the Asian Star. One of our top best made decisions this year! We ordered the Dynamite roll which is now, hands down, one of my favorite sushi rolls (never quite cared for it before but it was what my husband wanted...thankfully:)) Everything was unique from the way they prepared their sushi to their house salad. I have been to MANY Japanese restaurants (probably everyone in Memphis) but there is something so great and admirable about the atmosphere there. Customer service is A+++! Absolutely amazed. I'm relatively new to Memphis and the Bartlett area so I always go to yelp to see what others say before trying new things. But this is my first actual review. I've ordered delivery from here before and it's always good. But tonight the food was EXCELLENT. The delivery was less than 30 minutes. The food was steaming hot and visually appealing (we eat with our eyes first). The portions are great for the price. And lastly, this was the best tasting Chinese I have had in a long while. So fresh! We ordered General Tso's chicken as well as shrimp lo mein. I don't know if there is a new cook or recipes, but everything was amazing! read more

I had a pretty big order for the night. Got a quart of fried rice, house lo mein, crab rangoon, chinese donuts, and beef and broccoli. Amount of food for the price is about what you'd expect. Way more food than you'll actually need haha! As far as the food is concerned, everything was really good. Recent reviews have mentioned that the crab rangoon is a little greasy, and it is. But so is good pizza. It wasn't a big deal, I just dabbed the grease off and the cream cheese filling was actually really good! I enjoyed the beef and broccoli the most though. You can simply leave a note saying "Extra beef on the beef with broccoli" and the store rep gets a note on his phone (He showed me that in the store haha!) I didn't see a spot to do that on the website, so I figured I'd mention it. I placed the order at 8:01 and walked out of the restaurant with the food by 8:20. The customer service was great too. He seemed almost excited to show me how his app worked when people order online. Good stuff all around. My new chinese dig :) read more

Finally tried this place and it's outstanding ordered online they arrived quick delivery person was extremely nice the combination fried rice was perfect as was the sweet source chicken and the pot stickers the shrimp with vegetables had no grease fresh and delicious the shrimp were huge! Egg rolls were nasty, crab rangoons were edible at least and the Shrimp Tempura were their worst I ever had. Not even remotely close to tempura style.
