She finally came and we told her to split the payment into 2 cards...we waited about 5-7 minutes just to sign the credit slips and for her to process the payment. The breakfasts..Chicharrones, the winter soups( Caldo de Gallina) their( Lomo Saltado) to die for!! the place is small and cozy! Costumer service is really good..those girls are so sweet , nice and lovely! One time I forgot my purse and sadly I didn't have my driver's license in there ..they waited and saved my purse for days, they were so worry and reached me. Such nice people! I'll give them 5 stars. This was written up in the washingtonian and looks like it has a very interesting following. I mean I work right up the street and its impossible to sneeze in a direction here where there is not an ethnic joint right in your face. Now I have to say this place is small and it is not very english friendly but if you know what you are looking for then this is the place. The ceviches and the fried seafoods are extremely good. the chicharron sandwich is a little fatty but still manages to keep it fresh with pickled onions and the sweet potato. If you get a sandwich combo it comes with a juice which is perfect not too sweet and really refreshing. Also the flan is totally homemade you can tell and it is delicious as well. The front door to this place was like a portal to Lima. I studied abroad there in college and this place really brought back memories- the atmosphere and way in which things are served were just as they would be in Lima. It's definitely fancier than most of the other Peruvian places in the Wheaton area and the quality of the food is better as well. I got anticuchos (beef heart skewers) as an appetizer and lomo saltado as the dinner. Both were very good, I was especially impressed with the lomo, I mean, it's hard a dish to mess up but it somehow tasted extra good... the seasoning I suppose. Only a few small complaints. They have some non-Peruvian dishes on the menu as well, particularily Central American. The waitress was in fact Salvadoran. While there is certainly no crime in any way, it was a little frustrating as she didn't seem super knowledgeable with Peruvian cuisine when I asked her about certain dishes. Finally my roommate ended up ordering some sort of chicken dish (don't remember what it was called), the waitress told him that it would be a little different that day than it was on the menu- I want to say that it would be fried rather than grilled. Anyways he said ok, it came, it was decent by all standards for fried chicken though not quite as good as what I ordered. The complaint comes now, we went to pay and the price of the chicken dish had magically gone up by $2. When we asked why she said, " Oh... that's because like I told you we don't have that dish today so we have this other one instead and it's $2 more..." You could argue that this was a communication error except both my roommate and I are fluent Spanish speakers and we spoke to her the entire time in Spanish and she would have had no problem telling my roommate that what he ordered would be more expensive than what he had originally asked for. As my experience was wonderful I'm not going to be too hard on them for this but it did hold me back from giving them the whole 5 stars. Regardless, I look forward to going back soon though I'll stick with the Peruvian fair over the random Central American fried chicken. read more

Came here on Sunday (Father's Day). Party of 2 Every business owner should know that on special events/holidays their business will most likely get packed and more than one wait staff will be needed. We came in at 10 am ( nicks dinner was packed and we ran into this place). We sat ourselves as we did not know whether someone will seat us. Out of the 12 tables there, 8 of them were taken up.(including us) and there was only one waitress. The owner seemed to be busy setting up speakers (the soccer game was going to be on later Peru vs Columbia) and the lady owner was behind the counter. It took the server 20 minutes just to bring us menus. Not bothered at all because I saw she was the only one there just timing for review purposes. What really bothered me was that a gentlemen came in whom I believe was either a friend or family he sat down and within seconds the lady owner approached his table with a menu. And his drink and beverage was out before our food and beverage was out. Bad customer service. Our food finally arrived. I ordered the strawberry milkshake and for $6 I got huevos rancheros with the side of beans and plantains and sour cream. Honestly idk if it's the Latina in me but I expected a lot more plantains then what seemed like less than half of the plantain chopped into 3 small pieces. It really looked like it was cut up to feed a toddler. The beans, Sour cream, and sauce for the eggs came in a tiny tiny bowl on the side. The milkshake was delicious hands down I enjoyed it. My boyfriend had ordered the papaya milkshake and that one as well was very good. Highly recommend the milkshakes. As for his food he ordered the eggs mixed with sausages which I didn't try myself but he said it was good. Same sides as mine at the same portion with tortillas (that arrived about 3 minutes later) Overall I think this place is a decent place. The meat was tough and of poor quality; the dish had almost no flavor; the french fries were tasteless and looked like they came from a freezer bag; and there actually was not much food on the plate. I give this place a thumbs down. Being a Peruvian and having a professional Peruvian chef as a mom, we would know about what Peruvian food really tastes like. The place is definitely very home like. Has pretty good Peruvian music, but the food just doesn't seems like something they are passionate of making. We order ceviche, and the lady told us the lime juice the fish is cooked in is already pre made. We were confused because when you make ceviche, it's supposed to be fresh and everything done at the moment. The lime juice didn't cook the fish as it was supposed to. It was just a tasteless piece of cut fish. The calamary in the ceviche was soggy and the shrimp was hard. Then we ordered a Lomo saltado. And acidity of the lomo saltado was just over the top. Lomo saltado is supposed to only contain about a tbsp of vinegar, depending on how much you're making. Last but not least, the chicha morada was from a package and so was the maracuya (the drinks). Chicha morada is supposed to be done with Maiz morado and at the end some squeezed lemon. It's not difficult!! This place just makes me feel like they are just trying to make money by being cheap. They also have a plate called Plato Asi Es Mi Tierra which is all seafood for the seafood lovers, its an awesome plate honestly my boyfriend loved it although its a lot for one person but he pulled through its good enough for two people but it all depends on the person. My wife and I ate here in 2011, and this restaurant was a real gem at the time, hopefully we can return soon. The chef is a well trained Peruvian chef, and we went there with the family. This restaurant serves more refined latino food. My son was 5 or 6 at the time and ordered breaded chicken, and we were somewhat concerned when it took 10 or 15 minutes to prepare it. However, upon getting his food, we realized that the chef had made this fresh, like every other dish he put up. It was delicious and well seasoned (and covered with sliced onion with a sauce), and was remarkably good (not a typical kids menu item). They are perhaps more upscale than their neighboring restaurants, but I'd recommend it if you want a well prepared latin meal. This tends a bit more to upscale cuisine than quick family fare that many establishments have, so it tended to cost a bit more but was good value. read more
