The staff always makes sure you feel welcomed. The practice areas are in great shape. The range is real grass. And the course is always fun. A few water hazards, fun bunkers and good greens. Was quite nice, a beautiful day and hardly a soul on the course. The tee boxes were a bit chewed up, the bunkers were overgrown and harder than concrete, but other than that it wasn't too bad to play. Employees are always friendly and helpful. read more

By far one of my favorite go-to courses and driving range. They are always so kind and welcoming in the pro shop upon arrival. They are extremely knowledgeable and accommodating to everyone! It's a plus to me that their driving range is actually grass and not mats. I feel like the practice you get transfers better that way. I live in Big Bear, so when my course is closed this is my first choice! read more

Golf course is in great shape. The greens will be wonderful after they grow back from punching them. Fairways and rough is so well maintained. Its a super bargain for the price. I just wish that they would install rangefinder on the carts. Well done to the course Sup. One thing that is needed is more sand in th bunkers. read more

For what they charge to play, for an executive course, you'd think, after all these years, they'd fix all those ridiculously rocked sand traps. It's pathetic!! I guess the home owners don't play the course they manage. read more

Often times this course allows golfers to jump around from course to course. No one oversees this! Make for a frustrating day!!

Great folks working the pro shop, kitchen, and cart barn. Groundskeepers are very nice and respectful of play also. The course is more compact with no par 5s but the High Desert wind makes it challenging. Also, I've started my 2nd round of instruction with Pete F. and can't say enough good things about his no nonsense approach to teaching the fundamentals of golf. I'm 60 yrs old and his instruction has improved my game immensely. read more

This course is fun, challenging, and always a pleasant time spent. I definitely play any time I'm out in the hi-desert visiting! Love it here, beats out a few of the courses in San Diego. Only downside is the wind haha but can't get around that much while in the HD. read more

My son has been coming here for a couple months for private lessons with Pete. It has been a great experience for him. Also, the people working in the restaurant are just the nicest people ever! One day I needed an escape from the chilly weather while my son had lessons and although they were near closing time they allowed me to sit inside while they cleaned up for closing. Probably the best golf course in the high desert. Summers the course is usually in pretty good shape. Winter is hit and miss with most tee boxes in rough shape, especially the par 3s. More than anything, they need to invest in a starter and a ranger to run their shotgun starts and improve pace of play. There's so many people jumping around to different holes, it gets annoying. I do enjoy the course, they just need to care as much about it as the residents who live on the course do. read more

Can't say enough about Ashwood, only complaint is it's a shorter course (no par 5's), other than that it's perfect. Every hole has a functioning ball washer with fresh towels, the tee boxes, fairways and greens are immaculate, and continuous beverage service for all 27 holes along with the every staff member is extremely friendly. read more

Decent golf course. Con- sprinklers were on and spraying us. A lot of areas of over soaked / flooded areas. Layout is kinda confusing. No par 5's. Food was super expensive. Pros- a lot of Par 3's (we bet only on par 3). Food was great at the turn (jalapeno ranch bacon burger). A lot of water / obstacles to tee off over. read more

There's three 9's here set within a retirement community, there isn't any par 5's, it's shorter par 4s and 3's, it's got some tight fairways, but very playable and fun. The maintenance here on the fairways, greens, and tee boxes is first rate, it's actually better than quite a few upper end courses in So Cal, the greens are actually some of the best I've played which is amazing for the high desert. The only thing keeping me from rating this 5 stars, is the pebble filled bunkers and rough outside the fairways has a lot of dry spotty grassless areas, which is understandable because of the wind and dryness in the high desert. read more

First time playing here and overall experience was great. Price was really good for current course conditions. For a course in the desert, the facility does a great job keeping up on the grass. Tee boxes and fairways were very well manicured and lots of grass with very very minimal very small dead spot areas on just a few holes, mainly were rough areas but it is dead of summer. Greens were in great condition with rarely finding any ball marks which a lot of people take care of which is what you want to see. Greens rolled true and were not fast and not slow, exactly where you would want them. Only complaints on course conditions were the bunkers. It was rare to find any bunker without giants rocks and stone. If I would have landed in one, I would have taken a drop out as unplayable due to fear of damage to clubs. Luckily I avoided it all day. For all par 3's and 4's and being a shorter track, it actually was very enjoyable and had many different challenging shots you had to make that you probably don't usually play out of your bag at a full length track. Staff was the best part here, very accommodating and above and beyond. Very helpful in all questions you asked and very responsive. All staff had smiles on t he or faces and greeted you with a hi and how was your day going. Very rare to see and glad to see it agin and something a lot of golf clubs are missing. I would definitely find myself playing here more often if I was closer. We did hear good things about the grill, but it was closed on Monday, the day we played here so we were not able to rate or try that. Overall great experience, pace of play was wide open, never had anyone in front of us or behind us the entire round yet we did see people playing as we were playing on various holes. read more

This is the first time I've played this course in a little over a year. This course used to be well kept and a pleasure to play. Today (04/30/24) the course was in complete shambles. The grass in the rough is about 6-8 inches long with dandelions and bits of trash scattered throughout making it nearly impossible to find your ball if it doesn't land on the fairway. The fairways are full of holes and bald patches. The tea boxes are not much better. Even the sand traps are in disarray. It felt like I was playing an abandoned course. I paid for 18 holes and left after 9. Not worth the price. Hopefully they get their act together. read more

I recently golfed at this course. The staff was friendly and the grounds were nice. Unfortunately, I left my pitching wedge on the 19th hole. A nice patron turned in the club to the pro-shop. I just spoke with Pete in the pro-shop and he couldn't have been nicer. Pete agreed to go the extra step of sending me my lost club and simply asked I provide a shipping label.
