I love playing here, I have other courses closer to me but this one beats them all by a mile. I've played at Apply Valley Golf over 10 times now. The course is well maintained, the staff is very kind and professional, and so far everyone I've met is very nice and courteous. The course itself can be very challenging, yet quite forgiving if managed well. It's a course I don't think I will ever get tired of playing at; there is always a new puzzle to solve every hole! read more

I've been there to Apple Valley golf course a handful of times. Michael the person at the front desk with red hair is the rudest unprofessional person I have met in customer service. Every time was unpleasant if he hates his job or working with the public, he should be in back not the face of the golf course. Me and my family asked if you did anything special for your military and he said the regular price was special enough. It was a slap in the face. Course was in excellent shape and the staff is always friendly. They have fast golf carts and the pace of play on a Saturday was perfect. The food in the restaurant was also very good. Highly recommend this course. read more

Second time playing here, first time was okay. Second time playing, we started at our reserved tee time. The players behind us clearly weren't happy about it. They were a 5-some hitting into us without any warning. We were playing a steady fast pace, and with the new carts it will give you a warning about playing too slow, but we didn't receive that warning. They were yelling things at their balls like, "stop you wh*re". Guy in the club house let us know the group behind us were really good players and we either needed to play faster or let them pass. Other players are very rushy and entitled both times we played there. Will not be playing here again. Course grass hasn't been very nice either anytime of the year. read more

The course itself is not bad. Greens are ok, fairways are cut nice, and traps are pretty good. The clubhouse has been under construction forever it seems. Just don't understand if they close at 5pm why do they pull flags at 4pm. Not cool. read more

One of my friends lives up in Apple Valley so I'll make the drive every once in a while to meet him for a round of golf. I really like this course and the pace of play was great. The course was in phenomenol shape, no dead spots or patches of dirt anywhere! I've also noticed that the guys in the pro shop are always super friendly, which makes a big difference. Oh, and the pricing is very fair, considering how nice the course is. So all in all, I give this a huge thumbs up and 5-Stars for sure! read more

Played AVGC twice in the last month. Somewhat disappointed! It's supposed to be the nicest course in the High Desert ...definitely not true. It's definitely the most expensive. Nice track , but nothing spectacular. Course conditions fair at best. Looks like all the water hazards drained. Greens fast , but on trip 2 recently punched. ( They Failed twice to inform me of punched greens). Younger dude in pro shop , is pompous & somewhat of a Smart ass. No food whatsoever & a tiny selection of drinks available. You can pay for your green fee with debit, but if you want a beer or water ...cash only. There are better choices in the HD. read more

1 star due to customer service. I paid for a full round for 3 people, Tee time was 430. Nothing was said to me about when carts needed to be returned. When we got to the range the fat white guy was picking up balls by hand. We were mindful of him and our distances with hitting balls. One ball rolled 40+ feet to him, and the guy decides to come in and give me crap cause a paying customer was trying to warm up, while being mindful of a person out on the range. Same fat guy came by around 615pm, said carts need to be in by 730... we hustled through the back side and at the 15th hole, this dude rolled up with his cart on the green, took the pin out of my nephews hand, and told us 15 minutes. He took the rest of the pins....so how were we supposed to get at least one more in? Heard management has high turnover. Would not recommend this course, go to Ashwood instead. read more

Power tip: decent course, although the greens are pretty sandy. The fairways aren't as well-maintained as some but clearly playable. The price, at least for a weekday afternoon at $21 for 9 holes, was also reasonable with cart rental. read more

Not a bad course, challenging enough to improve your game. Holes vary in length which is nice, a few 450-500 yard holes really allow you to pull out the driver and rip one. Driving range is alright, you hit off mats and are not allowed to use a driver but it serves its purpose. Only bad part about my experience is the guy playing behind us. Instead of being nice and asking to play through he aggressively tells us to hurry up then calls the Marshall on us before we had a chance to pick up the pace a little. Mind you we weren't THAT far behind, they maybe waited 1-2 minutes for us, if that. Day got better after the 9th hole where we sat back and let the speedster play through. read more

If you like smooth fast greens, this is the place for you. Don't let the dormant grass fool you either. The fairways are solid. Even with a 4some in front of us we played in less than 4 hours. It's definitely worth the drive from the IE if you're not a local. This golf course is no slouch either. With the wind, beautiful big trees, and smallish speedy greens with subtle undulations, par isn't a given on any hole. I do have to mention that there is no snack bar so plan to eat before you get there. Treat yourself to this hidden gem when you can. There is nothing to regret playing here. read more

Most over priced golf course in the desert by far. Most expensive course, with the least amount of amenities. No snack bar, no beverage cart, no raked in the bunkers. Driving range is all dirt. 50% chance your cart will die before 18 holes. Used to be the best course in the desert with the best price. Not anymore and it's such a bummer. read more

The best time to hit the range is during a morning tournament when everyone else is playing.

After a few years we have gone back to Apple Valley. The pro shop staff have been nothing but nice to us. They are very kind to my kiddo and even ask him about his tournaments and are very encouraging. We have eaten at Roydale's. The kids loved the hot dog and chicken strips and the young man that served us was very pleasant and kind. We will be coming back to play and practice! read more

Zero! Sierra management made a huge mistake in hiring Gary Matteson as their golf shop manager. I have yet to meet one individual that can carry a conversation with the guy. I have witnessed his sarcastic, prude, pompous, unfriendly, unprofessional, and just plain non personable conversation,or lack there of, many a time. Gary goes out of his way to be confrontational just in normal every day conversation. His golf program is very poorly run, he is very difficult to work with when organizing golf tournaments, the course is in poor condition (in my opinion it ranks 4 of 5 in the area), AVCC green fees are 2nd highest in the area (they just went up) by almost double, and Gary is known to chase off good paying customers with impolite and harassing comments and actions. Stay far away from this golf facility until another management company takes over or they replace Gary the grouch! read more

Went there to play a round of golf with friends from down the hill. When we arrived to pay for our round, the golf shop cashier or pro or whatever he is was very rude and condescending towards my group. It was a cold day so most of us were wearing pullover jackets. The golf pro assumed that no one was wearing a collared shirt because right away he stated to our group that we had to keep our jackets on. This is without him even asking us if we had the proper attire on. We all had the proper attire if anyone wants to know. There were other groups there wearing jackets but he never told them they had to keep there jackets on. I believe they were part of the men's club. If he wants to run the course like country club then they shouldn't have made it a public course or open it to the public. I've played AVCC 4 times since moving up here in august and each time the golf pro was rude. I will not be playing AVCC at anytime in the near future for as long as they have this golf pro running things. I play at least once a week and spend lots of money in the bar after my rounds. I will be playing at Ashwood and spring valley lake cc for where I am a member for now on. The main reason why I played at AVCC is since I play so often I liked to change it up. I have a stressful job so I enjoy the days I go golfing. So I do not need some golf pro judging my group of golfers because of the way they look. Especially at a public course. read more

Shouldn't even give this place 1 star. Paid for 18 holes and they would only let us play 9 because there was a tournament going on. The staff wouldn't even apologize. Just told us we couldn't play the back. This is pathetic and I will never go back to this golf coarse. Don't go here unless you want to get ripped off. read more

This is my first ever review and it will be a novel by the time I'm done. About 2 months ago I went to play a round here and had my two kids, 5 and 7 years of age. They've gone with me many times to other courses and had no problems. They love being my caddie. So I go in to pay for my round and the man at the desk asks very rudely"oh are they riding with you? Make sure they're not running around like wild animals". I paused and thought maybe he's having a bad day and blew it off because old people are cranky. But then he tells me don't let them out of the cart to screw around and mess up the course. Needless to say I got pissed off. I proceeded to show him what time it was. First off my children are more respectful than this old smug asshole who runs a golf shop in the little town of Apple Valley who thinks he's some professional. Second he tried to charge $37 for a round when the fairways were dead and looked like I could take my 4x4 mudding from all the water they're pumping out onto them. So even if I let my kids play around for a bit they couldn't have harmed anything on this course. I left and went to Ashwood golf course where they are nice and accommodating and $20 cheaper to play on grass, not mud. 2 months have passed and some guys from work wanna hit up Apple Valley golf course. I say what the hell I'll go seeing as it's a nice day. I get there and it's a ghost town. I go into pay and look who's there, Mr I'm a professional with his smug pompous I'm better than you attitude. My friend already paid and he said I'm good to ride with one of them. I said I needed my own cart as I had to leave and get my kid from school but will be back to finish up. He said absolutely not. If there's a group not everyone can have a cart. I totally understand if the place was packed and had people there ready to go but there were 4 of us. That's all. So I told pompous to have a nice day and left. I will not spend a dime at this place or Green Tree seeing as they're ran by the same company. So in conclusion if you don't like getting treated rudely and unprofessional from a wannabe professional with a bad attitude,STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!! read more

I am a local golfer of the high desert play all the courses pretty frequently. Apple valley golf course Over priced for the quality of the course. The fairways are in awful condition. Super thin dirt / grass. The bunkers are soaking wet and hard as a rock!! Also extremely inconsistent. There is no golf course in the high desert is worth $22 to walk. Especilly since the course is undergoing construction on the back 9, Regardless of Holliday prices. Thumbs down Apple valley golf course. Hesperia golf course is fair priced And they have monthly discounts like half price all month on walking the course. $18 for cart. Green tree course is $20 to play 18 and a cart. Apple valley golf think there s... don't stink And there staff is rude too people who don't play there course 3 days a week (non locals). read more

The golf course rates high for a daily-fee facility. Greens in terrific shape, fairways well maintained. Thus, greens superintendent deserves high praise with his limited staff and budget. Russell Tracy does a great job in the golf shop. Always very gracious and accommodating. I always feel welcomed as a customer when he's on duty. Very professional in his work. He deserves an A+ in my opinion. Great young man! An asset to his managing group as well as those who play golf at AVGC. Thank you Russell! read more

We ate at the restaurant here back when it was a "country club" instead of the public "golf course" it apparently is now that the Town of Apple Valley owns it. It was pretty bad then. Thus, it was exciting to hear that someone new had taken over the restaurant. Unfortunately, I think it's worse now. When we arrived, there was no obvious hostess, or sign to seat yourself. There were a couple of people at the bar who greeted us, but neither made a move. We had to ask about seating. Turns out one of the greeters was our waitress. OK. We go to a table that's been cleared but not wiped. Couldn't have been because it was busy, because there was only one other table with people at it. From what we could tell, the new owners have done zero renovations or remodeling. It appears to have exactly the same tables, chairs, carpet, paint, "artwork," crust on the windows, etc. Oh, the big-screen TV might be new. Speaking of the carpet, though, it was beyond filthy, and I used to clean restaurant carpets for a living so I've seen some disgusting restaurant carpets. Our waitress was nice and attentive once we got seated, but the food was another issue. First, they don't really serve dinner, so the menu is limited. Neither of us wanted a burger, so she went for the Tri-Tip Dip and I went for the pulled-pork sandwich. The Tri-Tip Dip was not bad, and they are generous with the au jus. The pulled pork sandwich could have been better, but it was just OK, if a little small. Neither of the sides (home-made potato chips, cole slaw) was terrific, either. Eating mediocre food in a dingy, filthy room is just not something to which we look forward. We're done with the golf course / country club for the foreseeable future. read more

This golf course is hands down the best in the High Desert. The staff in the pro-shop work so hard to ensure the best for their customers. Gary goes out of his way to help anyone and everyone that needs it, in any way! If they don't have what your looking for in their shop they will do whatever they can to get it in your hands for you! Congratulations on the 5 year contract you deserve it! Roydale's manager and staff are Outstanding. The food and service are wonderful! A friend of mine brought their son to your course to practice for an upcoming youth tournament and was turned away rather rudely. A serious golfer btw, not just some kid banging away at the dirt. It seems to me that you should be encouraging young golfers, the future of your sport, to come and play / practice! It also seems to me that you should take a serious look and your employees and/or practices. No business can be successful treating people this way. This place is a joke, the guy Gary tell me he can get me out to play, however he tells me I need to play fast because the men's club was having a tournament, so after paying him, we went to the ninth tee and my son hit his shot then Gary comes running out a says you did not get out fast enough, so we had to wait for some other people to come around. Needless to say we went to Victorville Green Tree and Russell was able to get us out and we had a nice relaxing round. I will never go back to this course, I live in Apple Valley and I have played this course many of times, but if their service continues this way all they will have is a men's club which many of them are friend of mine. Highly irresponsible management! The groundskeepers have apparently been feeding the coyote population which resides on the grounds. This has exacerbated the coyote problem for the surrounding neighborhood. I had the extremely upsetting experience of having four (YES 4!!) kittens eaten alive in my front yard last night due to their negligence. I would personally like to extend my thanks to AV Golf Course for the trauma inflicted upon my 12 yr old who witnessed said event. FIX YOUR COYOTE PROBLEM OR THE NEIGHBORING CITIZENS AROUND YOU WILL FIX IT ON YOUR BEHALF. Word of warning: It will be a FAR CRY from pretty and will ensure you lose insurmountable revenue. read more

I played here once when it was a Country Club and it was A nice track. Now playing it as a public, its in great shape and the guys in the pro shop are awesome. Russ, Gary and Alex are really helpful. I have 2 young daughters that are wanting to learn to golf and I can't wait for them to learn here. As for the food it's good not amazing, but we're not at a fine dining restaurant either. The wood fire pizza is really good and so are the wings. If you haven't played here or you have stayed away because of some bad reviews give it a shot it worth it. read more
