Slick and modern, this was one of our better hotel experiences in Ireland. Our room was huge, we had a king bed, lots more TV stations than we had seen all week, and an excellent modern bathroom. The lobby and bar/restaurants are all gorgeous. We sat in the bar, sipped our Irish coffees, and took in the sights all around us. Breakfast was a 100+ item buffet that was wonderful. Five stars for the Ashling !

We stayed here 3 nights and while it's not in downtown Dublin, it's a short walk to Guinness Storehouse. There are buses and trams a short walk away, so easy access to transportation. The staff was great recommending best ways to get places and they were always friendly and professional. Very clean hotel with comfy beds, this was a great place complete with doorman. There are a few pubs and restaurants within walking distance worth checking out. We booked with the buffet breakfast which boasts over 100 items. Was so so but nice that we got to start our days loaded up. They do charge for parking but not many hotels even offer so keep that in mind if renting a car. The bar area has a restaurant which we used once and they also have room service. Safe and secure, you need to use your key to enter hallway to room. If you want to charge batteries, you'll need to leave a key in slot by door or all electric powers off when you leave room.

Kind of off the beaten path, but a few places close by. Roomds were ok. The 1st room we had didnt come with AC so 30 euros extra a night we chose a room and moved to the AC. This room was HUGE! But...and this is gross. The tub next to the toilet would spit out water when it was flushed.Thankfully there was a separate shower. Not sure how this was rated 5 star hotels on web sites.

Very clean hotel with central location to all the attractions in Dublin. Conveniently located across the street from Heuston Station and the airlink bus to the airport.

Arrived at the Ashling around 12pm, and even though on my conformation it stated no early check in I was told my room was ready for me, the front desk help was cheery and helpful, in fact every time I wound up at the front desk everyone was friendly and helpful. The room was a nice size room, the view was lacking it was facing roof top of some other part of the hotel but I was completely ok with that. Also the room had 2 heating radiators, now I have to say Dublin was the coldest of all the cities we visited, but it just wasn't cold enough to learn how to use said radiators, but to be honest the room held a nice temperature not cold not hot just perfect. The bathroom had amazing counter top space, but again no outlet other than for shavers in the bathroom, and the blow dryer was in a drawer by the mirrored vanity. The beds were comfortable and never heard any foot traffic in the halls. I enjoyed my stay at The Ashling, it's a very nice hotel and the staff is friendly and always greets you with a smile, you are not that far from a bus stop or train stop so getting around isn't hard at all. If back in the area I wouldn't mind staying at The Ashling again.

Boy, has the Ashling on Parkgate st come a long way. Just a few years ago, this towering modern hotel was a much more modest four-floor affair that sat comfortably with its vintage neighbours -a small B&B and the unassuming Millennium Pub. Then, in the downslope of the building boom something huge happened here;the lesser hotel was stripped down to a few rooms and walls, much of the parking and entry areas razed for a year-long overhaul that resulted in a much larger and more visible marble-clad high-rise. With the new look came a new attitude, and when the new Ashling opened for business late in '09 it came with dramatic styling, refurbished rooms and an all-new restaurant, bar and lounge. Over in the Iveagh bar guests and local professionals people the split-level room, a dark and velvet-draped space with low lighting that practically requires a flashlight, even in the day. That is, of course, unless they've taken a window seat in one of the huge sofa seating areas. There it's easy to enjoy tea, a book and some low conversation as plans are made for day trips or business deals. The menu is as ornate as the interior decoration, with standard pub food like paninis (hard to imagine these are standard, but I'm able to get one of these practically everywhere but the oldest of old men pubs nowadays) tarted up with slices of brie and carmelised onion relish. But, its quiet and the staff do give guests their space (meaning it's a slog getting someone to bring a second pot of tea). Not bad for the little hotel that could.

We've been messing with our friends all day and they called room service and had this sent to us -- ILLUMINATI!!!

We've stayed in this hotel twice over the course of our 16 day trip to Ireland. When we first got in to the hotel, we were really really early in arriving, and our check in had initially been for 2 in the afternoon. It was around 8am when we arrived, and the girl at the desk was not only very cheerful in greeting us, but also very sweet and informative and checked us in early and gave us free books and guides for the city. And I don't mean dinky pamphlets - these are legitimate *books.* It was very kind of her! The sizes of the rooms are adequate, but for five people, I definitely recommend having at least two rooms. Our first stay in the hotel, we didn't realize this, and were marginally cramped. Our second time around, we got two rooms and are much more comfortable that way. I have nothing but positive things to say about the staff. They are incredibly friendly and accommodating, and Pavel, one of the night staff, is fantastic and very kind and understanding. Also, when you call down to order room service, the staff are really sweet and funny. We called down past 9pm for a warm chocolate brownie (which on the menu says is not available past 9pm) and I asked if there was a chance of us getting it anyway, and the gentleman helping me was very funny in telling me that there was 'absolutely, 100% chance of me getting it.' I enjoyed that very much. The food in the Iveagh bar is DELICIOUS. A little expensive I'm sure, but we're not just paying for the food - we're paying for the service as well, which is stellar. The full hot breakfast in the mornings is also delicious, and I think that it's reasonably priced for the sheer amount and selection of food available. If you book a room here, definitely be sure to get the full hot breakfast, you will not be disappointed. The location of the hotel is also really convenient, it's right off of the Luas line and a quick walk to the right once exiting the hotel will take you past a few cute pubs and a convenience store where you can get stamps, withdraw money at the ATM and buy snacks and drinks. Another nice benefit of this hotel is that there's free wifi! And it's decent too, it doesn't cut out every five seconds. If (and hopefully when) we return to Dublin, we will absolutely be staying at the Ashling again. We can't express enough how very thrilled we are with the service and warmth of this hotel.

This our second stay here for one night in the past 8 days. Very conveniently located to the Dublin Heuston Train Station. On this visit we were upgraded to a nicer room than the one we had last Saturday so that is wonderful. Large room, bathroom, view out of the front of the hotel. Very clean and has air conditioning. Quick service today checking in and did not have to wait for the room to be ready. So far, a great start to our last night in Ireland.

We had one castle room and one carriage room for our stay. Both rooms were quaint and well maintained. The gardens around the property are gorgeous and wonderful to explore during nice weather. The only thing to note is that in off-season the main restaurant is only open on the weekends and the tea service is not available during the week. While we enjoyed the food at Hermione's, the day we stayed there was a group event closing the main restaurant so we had to eat in the bar area. Most of the activities are off the property which wasn't very clear as we approached the date of our stay. We ended up visiting the National Stud Farm (about 30 minutes drive) and the clay pigeon shooting (about 40 minutes drive). Highly recommend both activities and really appreciate the staff helping us arrange these activities. The downstairs bar area is open late with a delicious charcuterie and board games are available to use by the fireplace which was a fun way to spend the later evening hours. Highly recommend staying at Kilkea Castle Hotel!

We arrived from an overnight flight at roughly 9:30 a.m. and they were still prepping rooms but they stored our luggage and recommended a location to grab something to eat which was very good. I saw a few other reviews that stated the bathroom doors would not stay open but I learned that is by design and we just asked for an extra towel that we used to prop the door open when needed. It serves to point out that the entire hotel is under a complete remodel so many of the rooms and features of the hotel are shinny new. The Brooks comes with my highest recommendation.
