Absolutely appalling experience with Ashley Furniture - avoid at all costs. I purchased a couch from Ashley Furniture in Toms River, NJ on November 15, 2024, along with their 5-year ProtectAll extended protection plan. Less than a year later, in fact -ONLY 6 MONTHS LATER the couch developed serious issues with the reclining mechanism and pinching--clear signs of a manufacturing defect and safety concern. I reached out on June 1, 2025, to begin a warranty claim and was immediately bounced back and forth between Ashley Furniture and ProtectAll. I followed up again on June 2 and June 3, during business hours, and still couldn't get a straight answer from either party aside from "we made note and someone will call you back." But no word over WHO was responsible. On June 11, Ashley informed me it would take over six weeks just to get the part needed for repair and another month after that to schedule a technician. A 10+ week delay is absolutely unacceptable for a couch under warranty. On June 12, I contacted the Toms River location directly, and while I was told a regional manager would contact me over the weekend, what I got instead was a call on June 13 from a rude customer service supervisor telling me Ashley Furniture no longer wants to work with me regarding this issue--despite the warranty still being active and the defect clearly falling under its terms. This company has shown zero accountability, offers horrendous customer service, and refuses to honor their warranty. I've since filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and am pursuing further action. I paid good money for what I was told would be a "worry-free" piece of furniture, and instead I'm left with a non-functional and unsafe couch and no support. Buyer beware. read more

Very poor Ashley's experience in Toms River, NJ. I purchased a bedroom suite on 5/18/2025, it looked like a good deal. Until I read the itemized list on my receipt. I tried calling all day but no answer, I knew they were open. They substituted without my knowledge the type of mattress I wanted. I immediately returned to the Toms River store and demanded an explanation. Apparently this normal business for them. Take advantage of the elderly! I was told by Masood that to just refuse the delivery of the items in dispute and they will credit me. Well here we are three [3] weeks now, just crickets. Piss poor customer service. Little do they know that ignorance does not relieve them of their responsibilities to the customer for damages in a court of law. Buyer beware... I recently moved from Bergen county to Toms River a few months ago. I needed living room and bedroom furniture, I had the pleasure of walking in the front door and meeting a very friendly face named George M...he would be my personal salesman for the next 4 hours lol...all I can say is my experience was fantastic he treated me wonderfully and I love my furniture. They basically force you to purchase the protection plan and then when you try to get something fixed or replaced they just give you the go around for now going on 11 months. So irritating especially after we put a claim in on our adjustable base, they send out a tech who said he'll submit the pictures and we should have someone here in the next few weeks 2 months later we called for an update and they said the tech wrote a report and states he fixed the base and closed the report out. The adjustable base still isn't working and a lady from corporate asked my husband why he cut the wires. We had the base for 3 months before it sparked in our outlet and stopped working, no reason we would cut the wires. Terrible customer service, will never purchase another item from them. Not to mention we only had our couch for 15 months and the cushions are so worn out. UPDATE: The adjustable base still has not had a tech out to fix it, we did get a credit on the couch however they have NO sectionals like our current one we had to spend extra just to pick out a new couch which they promised would be delivered by this week so it was here before Christmas, turns out it wasn't even put in the right spot to be delivered and Christmas is in a week. BUYER BEWARE....5 months ago I bought a bedroom set that cost me a lot of money. When they delivered the set there was a damage that they putty'd on one of the draws in the footboard. I got right on the phone to report it. Sent in the pictures like they asked. Saying someone will contact me. In 2-4 weeks. NO ONE ever called! I found a number to the customer service. Told them my issue again. They said I should receive the draw mid November. I waited a week after that no draw! Call the salesperson who got her manager involved and in late December they sent another draw. That..first did not match color and grain wise. Plus there was a crack now inside the draw. I called again and all they do is pacify you and said someone will call me give it 72 hours. Never got another call back. This place is horrible. $4500.00 for a bedroom set and they give me a damage piece and won't correct it at all. DO NOT SHOP at ASHLEY FURNITURE they are horrible and you will get stuck with a damage piece that they putty'd and sent to me another damaged piece. Don't waste your money here. AVOID Ashley Furniture in Toms River at all costs. I purchased brand new (not clearance) furniture and 3 out of 4 pieces were damaged at delivery. They make you keep it and have it repaired. Tried for months to resolve it and get new furniture, including speaking to the Store Manager, who was useless and just a "yes man" until you walked out the door, and there was no resolution with the exception of having my NEW FURNITURE REPAIRED. I went into the store and purchased two couches and a recliner. I asked the salesman if I got it home and I was unhappy with it could I return it he said a long as it's within the 72 hour timeframe I will get my full money back. It was delivered. It was not the same as in the show room. It was much harder which I heard a lot online. Same problem I called and they said I would have to pay a 25% restocking fee plus $150 delivery fee. During the holidays was extremely embarrassed when a guest really struggled to get out of sofa needing help. I have a 5 year Platinum protection so called and they sent tech. Even tech got sucked in to sofa and stated it shouldn't be with age of sofa. Protection company called today stated issue with core cushions and fill in back Not Coverered! I recently purchased a couch with a ottoman and a leather loveseat with 2 cocktail tables and a pull up coffee table. The order took 7 weeks to deliver and when it came to my house, the leather loveseat was damaged and the wrong color, The coffee table was totally the wrong one. I refused delivery and called the store and was told to call back the next day when the wrong items were put back into the inventory, so I went back to the Toms River store the next day and explained the situation. I was told that I would have to wait another 3 weeks. The manager Bruno, was very cold and didn't even offer any apologies until I mentioned I was going to write a review. On top of that, I waited for them to produce a recite and they could not because the regional director Hady was in his car driving home and had to approve it. I'm mad at myself for not reading all the bad reviews before we ordered. We desperately needed a sofa and love seat before Thanksgiving. Our salesman knew this. We ordered on 10-25 and were told they would soon call us to update us on our order. After waiting a few weeks for the call, we called them yesterday or tried to. The phone number on our salesman business card was disconnected. For an instant there I thought Ashley went out of business and they had our money. I called the main number and was told our delivery date was sometime in December! I couldn't believe it. I haven't checked the fine print on the sales receipt yet to see if I can cancel the order and not get stuck with some kind of store credit. Maybe I'll have the credit card company dispute the charge for me. No surprise they get 2 stars. You get what you pay for. Seems like their salespeople would make great used car salesmen. I bought a recliner at this Ashley Homestore and believe that it has bedbugs in it. I have gotten bites on my legs and neck after falling asleep on this recliner. Ashley would not send someone to inspect chair or give me a new chair. I was INSULTINGLY told by someone in customer service that they don't have a problem with bedbugs in the warehouse and that the problem is probably in my home. Needed to buy a whole house full of furniture. Came to the bed. We asked for the price of the bed, tempur pedic mattress and was quoted $4300. No one, not the salesman or the manager mentioned that that was just the cost of the mattress. The frame they sent me or sold me was an additional $4000 we were unaware of. This information was never disclosed. WE have yet to sleep on the bed and right now for $8400 that bed is the most uncomfortable thing I have never slept on. Extremely disappointed and will never shop at this location ever again. I purchased a couch on Black Friday here and we received a $50 promotional gift card for being one of the first customers that day. When we used it at check out our salesman tried to stop us because it was taking even more off the total that I had already price matched to their online pricing (which was cheaper than the "sale" they were having in store that day). After mentioning multiple times throughout the sale process that I needed this piece delivered to South Jersey, I was promised a delivery within the next month. My salesman even looked into the system and called me the following day of the purchase to confirm they can deliver. 3 days out from our delivery, they called to confirm. The next day, my salesman called to inform me that they wouldn't be able to deliver by the promised date because I was in South Jersey and they only deliver on 2 days a month to this area? Mind you, this is over a month now we've been waiting. They offered a refund of my "delivery fee" but I would have to wait until January for my couch. Their excuse was that even though we confirmed the location multiple times, no one on their end checked the "county" that my address was located in? My salesman told me that there wasn't anything they could do besides offer the delivery fee back. So I cancelled the order completely. Apparently none of their employees communicate with one another. I thought this mess was handled after I was refunded, but then I received a phone call this morning from my salesman asking where we left off? Like what?! He said there was no refund in their system and it was even looked at by a manager! So we went through the refund process yet again. Hallelujah! Nope, got another phone call that they refunded me twice and need to charge us again. What a mess. In the end, I never spoke to an actual manager, never got my couch, and didn't get that damn $50 Black Friday gift card! I will be taking my business elsewhere. Due to my mother having several health issues we decided to go with buying her one of the mattresses that raise her head and feet up. Plus a whole new bedroom set because the old one would not accommodate the new mattress. Pete Giordano was our sales person and he answered all of our crazy questions and gave us ideas on how to make my mom feel better. He helped save us a great deal of money I felt like I was shopping on Black Friday and it's only October. He went above and beyond for us and was kind, patient, and gave us a great experience.
