I have to say we purchased a sectional sofa over a year ago from this store and a year later couch is still comfy and looks pretty good for its use. It is in our family room and takes abuse from 3 kids, 2 adults and two dogs!. I don't like to write reviews immediately as I want to see how the product stands up. The previous couch we had purchased from a competitor didn't last this long before the frame broke in middle of the couch. The bones are solid on this sectional! The customer service is excellent. We purchased the warrantee and have had to use it due to a tear. They service man came to our home to assess and ordered a new cushion for us because it was not repairable. the sales woman was very friendly at time of purchase and delivery people were prompt and courteous. I am very critical of customer service, as it was my profession, and I have been very happy with the level of service I have received. I would shop here again. read more

Ordered dining set here. Went to showroom on a weekday afternoon. Wasn't crowded and a saleswoman greeted us. I knew what I wanted from the website and she took me to it. It saves time if you have an idea what you want. I ordered the set with delivery and set up. They showed up on the scheduled day as promised (a Saturday). Set up the table and chairs, no issues. They gave us defective lift top coffee table and now waiting for exchange since more than a month and today they told us to wait for another month and there is no courtesy for their regular customer. Amazing service to go along with an excellent product. My wife and I truly lucked up stumbling into Ashely's on a late Friday evening. Everywhere else was closed so we had to drive an additional 12 miles but it was so worth it. Think about it: 9 times out of 10, when you walk into any business, minutes before they close, you can feel the tension. You can feel them eyeballing you like who does that? You can feel the come-back-tomorrow vibe. Not here. The moment my wife and I walked in we felt the warmth. Kelly was the first person we saw, and she immediately gave us A1 service! She was fantastic and treated my wife and I with the upmost respect while exhibiting a sense of humor which uplifted both my wife and I. We were dog-tired from shopping at various furniture stores (Bobs, Raymour, etc.) and were close to just ordering from an Overstock since dealing with salesmen and women can sometime by exhausting. This wasn't the case here. We got the deal of a lifetime and got serious bang for our buck. I was even approved for a credit line to alleviate some of the pressures of paying everything up front with zero interest rate (a special they had at the time), even though Bob's furniture had just denied me credit. I can literally go on and on and fill this page with different superlatives and colorful compliments, but I won't. BECAUSE, the best way to verify what I'm saying is to go and see for yourself. I will never go to another furniture without checking out Ashley's furniture in Phillipsburg first. Oh, and an added bonus: Based on my address, I got my furniture tax-free. The delivery charge is also free here unlike some stores we went to. If Kelly or someone similar is looking out for you, you have nothing to worry about. And Let me not forget about Rachel. Both of them. They hooked up us and advocating for us as if they were the consumer end of the deal. At the end of the transaction, everyone won and my wife and I left that night feeling good as can be. Hence this yelp review. It would be selfish for me not to write and describe the magic that happened the night we purchased our brand-new living room set and tempurpedic mattress. On Sunday, October 4, 2020 at approximately 12:30 pm I entered the store to purchase 2 sets of bar chair. When I searched on the web the price stated that the set of 2 was $74.99. Once in the store the disoriented of staff sent me searching for the chairs myself. After I wasn't able to find the items I asked another customer service rep within the store and he directed me back to the initial person who greeted me at the door. After looking for the item I showed the picture and he stated he would look for the item within the computer system. He stated to me that the item in the system was a different price and he would need to speak to his manager (Sheldon). The manger came over to me and ask to take a picture of the online price that was on my phone. I found this odd since he could have completed the search himself. I complied and allowed him to take the picture (which I will include in this complaint). He came back to me and stated that was the incorrect price. As I stated to him I didn't create a website and the price should be granted based on what is online line. He declined and stated in a very nasty tone "that's not going to happen and you may call whomever you want". Customer service with the Ashley Home Store located at 1207 New Brunswick Ave, Phillipsburg NJ 08865 is horrible. My husband and I purchased couches for our new home. We also spent a good deal of money on a platinum protection plan. The plan covered the couches and chair for 5 years. We now have covers on the couch and loveseat (the chair is a different brand/fabric). The fabric has ripped, frayed and pulled. The slightest snag will cause the fabric to unravel and tear. The couch also has a board in the center than needs to be adjusted. I called the warranty company today who said they couldn't help me. I was told that was considered wear and tear. The couch is barely 2 years old and we aren't even halfway through the warranty. I was told the warrenty covered mechanical breaks for sofas with recliners (which we didn't even buy),burn marks or large rips. Soooo basically... I have a better chance of getting help if I set fire to the couches or rip it open with a pair of scissors? The representative was very rude. When I asked to speak with someone else I was told there wasn't anyone else to speak with. I was put on a "call back list". I'm usually a very calm reasonable person. Please don't try and tell me that a 2 year old couch and loveseat is expected to fall appart like this after 2 years. That is not "normal wear and tear". read more

I was told that my delivery time was 1-5 pm I received the phone call at 11:40 saying that they were 10 minutes away (it was an automated message) I had to leave work to be able to get my delivery. When I called the store to let the know about my inconvenience the woman told me that my delivery time was 12:30-4:30. Not what I was told, regardless the delivery came early which in most cases wouldn't be an issue but I had to leave work which I'm not paid if I'm not at work. The woman on the phone didn't have much to say to say to me besides "oh yeah that is an inconvenience." When I purchased this furniture I asked if I could pick it up instead of delivery and was told no. Needless to say I wasted a lot of time and money on couches I could have got from anywhere. read more

We took our information and shopped around. Ashley had the best deal for the money. We returned to the store the next week and made our purchase. There was no pressure to buy more than we intended and the 6 months same as cash was a great bonus. Ashley delivered on a Sunday. The delivery guys did not seem too happy to be working on a Sunday and were a little rough with the furniture bringing in in the house. Bought electric reclining sofa and love seat with the 5 year warranty . Worst purchase I ever made they constantly broke and did not wear well. The warranty was applicable 10% of the time. Many repairs were not covered under the warranty. Cheap furniture go to Raymour and Flanigan. We did after we threw out this garbage furniture. read more

At first, I thought it was a good idea to go to this store for our home office furniture. However, the pieces of furniture were not delivered when they were supposed to be. This left me waiting at home twice for furniture that never arrived. I had to have the shelves of the bookcase shipped to me, because the delivery men forgot to bring them when they delivered the bookcase. Of course, then the shelves were on backorder, so I had to wait another month before I had a complete set. Only then did I discover that the holes for the shelves were misplaced and slanted inward. I had to wait for a tech to come and see that I had a piece of faulty furniture. I then had to contact the store and they said they would remove the old furniture, and a date was scheduled but the delivery men never showed up and I never got a call back from after several messages were left with the delivery manager. I will not buy from this store again and would advise you not too as well. I have a huge non function bookcase in my office with books all over the floor and a box of shelves beside it. We recently just purchased a house and went in to Ashley's located in Phillipsburg. Do yourself a favor and LEAVE!!! We bought a three piece set and asked for the delivery to be between Jan 10-13. They said that should not be a problem seeing how it gives them almost 12 days to get the order delivered and proceeded to write TBD on delivery paper. I didn't think anything of it at the time. This place is shady and NO one is willing to help you, even CORPORATE!! No one called me to confirm the delivery date. No one called me to ask if it was okay to schedule delivery on jan 17th. After numerous calls and messages to the manager and pretty much every extension available and ten different stories, the rep that sold us the furniture called me and after talking to her manager (that never called me back) set the delivery for two of the pieces for Jan 13. I truly do not understand what the hold up was. Was is that hard to confirm delivery for the 13th after i had to pretty much pull teeth to get it. The sad truth is that the delivery truck/people, as quoted by an employee of Ashley's stated "doesn't like making multiple stops to the same place." So they just wait and wait until everything is in. WOW!! just save yourself the drama and frustration from this ignorant place and go across the street. read more

I was promised by the consultant I worked with that my furniture would be delivered by 11/4, and also by the sales associate at the desk. When I inquired again, I was told that if any pieces were going to be delayed, they would contact me. I made it clear I needed the furniture prior to 11/5. Today, on 11/1, they told me that my furniture is back ordered, and now they can't deliever anything until 11/8, which is also not guaranteed. Went with my wife when they were advertising their "warehouse clearance" sometime in the summer of 2013. We just purchased our first home and were excited to furnish it. Anyway, I guess when they do sales like this they fly "pro" salesman in. They guys we dealt with were from the south. We found a sectional that we really liked (greneda mocha sectional). The price tag had the couch retailing at over $4,000 but the sale price was half of that. We ended up going for it along with a formal living room set for another room. It's been nearly a year and I can say this couch is the worst purchase we have made. The cushions don't keep their shape and need to be alternated almost daily. Sit on the couch for a few minutes and they completely collapse. Might as well be sitting on a wooden bench. Come to find out the couch really retails for about $1,800. They did the "show a fake super high price" and make them feel like they got a deal. They got us hook, line and sinker. We recently visited our son and daughter-in-law at their new home in Phillipsburg, NJ. I went shopping with daughter-in-law for their dining room furniture. First tried Pier 1 and were very disappointed by the high price they were asking for clearance (and damaged) pieces. Next, went to Ashley and were greeted very pleasantly by Kelly Donahue, who showed us where the dining room furniture was displayed. I thought the pieces must be damaged or else they made an error on the price tag. But I was wrong. The set was sale priced really low and included everything my daughter-in-law was looking for: HUGE table with leaf, 6 upholstered chairs, buffet and hutch. We had enough left in our budget to purchase a matching upholstered bench (which Kelly discounted for us) and protective table pad. Since it was already near closing time, I assumed we'd have to put the set on hold and return the next day to pick it up. We were delighted when Kelly said if we wanted to take it that night, and had the means to do so, she would be happy to stay and help get everything loaded on the u-haul truck we'd rented. My husband and son joined us with the u-haul and we finally left the store with all the furniture (most of which Kelly moved with a dolly) sometime after 9:30. We really enjoyed working with Kelly, who was friendly, knowledgeable, VERY accommodating, and not the least bit "pushy." Our son and daughter-in-law LOVE the dining room set, which fits perfectly in their dining room, and will seat the entire family at their first Christmas dinner in their new home.
