I wish I had read reviews prior to my visit to this store. What other people said about their poor customer service is true. If you want to get an unexpected credit card and sarcastic text messages from your salesperson, this place is for you.
I went to this store to look for furniture for my new apartment last week. I stopped by the store two times. The salesperson I met was F, who greeted me at the door, trying to know me and my needs. I spent one hour or so to look around and tried the sofa and mattress. To avoid shopping with impulse, I usually took pictures and pondered which sets I should buy outside the store. I told F about it, he was okay with that. Compared to other salespersons at the store, F's attitude was nice and seemed to be sincere. I am aware that salespersons make commissions, so I thought why not F?
Three days later, after I decided what I want, I visited the store again. I spent an hour to choose every item in the living room package, and before I negotiate the price, I wanted to make sure if they have installment options. So I asked if there is any financing available. F pointed at a machine, and said: "You can apply there." Apply for WHAT? He did not mention it. I thought it was like what you do in auto dealers: Type your info and run some soft credit check for installments. Little did I know, after I finished the application, I got a receipt stating "Congratulations! You are a Synchrony Bank credit card holder!" I ended up applying for their store credit card!!! Who the hell needs that credit card?! My credit score dropped from 791 to 722 thanks to that dang credit card.
It's akin to fraud to me. F clearly knew I am a foreigner and did not explain explicitly. I did not hear any single word of "credit card" at all. After that stupid credit card application, F approached and told me I can get a better discount with that credit card. It was 30 minutes before the store closed, and he just wanted to go home, so he asked me to come back again this week. Pretty funny, obviously he did not want to do the business. And coming back? Oh, thanks but no thanks.
I did not show up at the store but I did kindly text him that I was not going there at 5:30 pm yesterday, in case he wondered. And guess what? I received his very sarcastic messages at 9:30 pm, saying I wasted his 7 hours. I swear I only spent no more than 3 hours in total for the two visits. Is that even professional? It is definitely NOT PROFESSIONAL for a salesperson to text like that from my experience in the U.S. and overseas.
Granted, I did not decide quickly enough, but he can't blame me on the time spent on choosing. Large furniture, after all, is not something I would buy every year. Waiting for decision making was also part of his job!
According to his messages, he is proud of his customer service in the field of sales for 10 years. I partially agree he was relatively nice among his colleagues. I would have made the deal if F did not screw up on the credit card application, and if he could have been more honest and not trying to fool foreigners. I cherish my established credit scores just as much as anyone does. And I certainly do not want to receive ironic messages at night, showing me how he cannot recognize why he lost a customer. This store has already lost my trust. I will never buy any piece of furniture there. read more
