I am so disappointed in the service at the Bear location. As a long time customer through many generations with Ashley's this store by far made me sick to my stomach to walk in or even drive by it. It all started when I got married to man of my dreams and moved to Delaware because of my husband's new job. Little did I know that the stuff was nothing like the service I and my family was used it. As a wedding gift my parents bought an bedroom set and table to eat at and a small coffee table and a set of love seats. The sells person was so helpful and kind and sold us the insurance on ever single item. He told us that the company would replace it or try to fix it without any questions. THIS WAS LIE. The bedroom came in 8 weeks and then a week later it broke they turned around and keep us waiting for almost a year to fix it. Then the loveseat started tearing we called they said we can't do anything for us. Waste of money my poor father has to pay because of lies the sells men told us. read more

Do your homework because we found the same furniture set and protection plan for almost $500 less than the "deal" they gave us... And they originally wanted to charge us $300 above the deal they gave us. Even the pricing for the same exact sofa and Loveseat were much cheaper on Ashley's website than in the store! I would change everything about this experience if I could. The first salesman followed me throughout the entire store, completely hovering, when I said I wanted time to look at everything first. Then I was told that online orders take 4+ weeks, false! Online has free next day shipping.. the store gave me an estimate of 2-6 weeks for $69.99, no option to ship to store. The saleswoman I dealt with did not inform me of the prices at all, or that a down payment was required. She was constantly trying to help other customers while dealing with my order, to the point of walking away with them on multiple occasions. While checking out, the woman was yelling at a fellow associate. When I questioned a price, she brushed me off. It seems they value sales over service. In the future, I will definitely order online. I am extremely frustrated with the lack of professionalism of the store. I had a very large purchase from them (my entire house) and they have given me nothing but the run around. I have been in the store multiple times to fix an issue and have tried calling. They keep telling me different things (I need to talk to this person/this person isn't here so it can't be done) and after over a month of placing my order and receiving my furniture the initial issue is still not fixed. I have given them the benefit of the doubt multiple times but they continue to disappoint me. I do enjoy the furniture itself, so my recommendation would be to look in the store, pick what you want, and purchase online so you do not have to deal with these people or go to another store. Will never use again. Furniture stylish. Availability, customer service and delivery were problems here and earned the one star rating. Delivery: scheduling requires that you be available all day. Who has the sort of schedule that they can be available the entire day waiting on something that should take 30 minutes? When they say all day, they mean 9am-10pm+, not 9-5. Apparently furniture is delivered throughout the day until whenever the truck is empty, though the 10pm potential delivery time (or any timeframe) was not expressed during the scheduling call. Ultimately my furniture was undeliverable because it doesn't pass through a standard door frame, who knew? Exordinary restocking fee -- 40% of purchase price. It's in the paperwork, but who thinks their furniture won't fit through a door frame and they'll want to send it back? Restocking fee because it's "special ordered"--the piece is something they advertise in their store, not something I asked to be specially upholstered or adjusted. In regards to availability: piece not available for 2 weeks from the date I bought (and paid for it). Finally customer service: Main customer service rep in scheduling was rude and escalated a situation unnecessarily by not responding to my questions about rescheduling delivery, but chastising me for not being available the entire day. She also raised her voice to me which I found to be very unprofessional. Ashley's does have stylish and relatively affordable furniture so I may do business with them again, but I will not order from this store and I will not use the delivery service (specifically because they require you to be available the entire day). read more

I bought two large sofas, 1 oversized chair, and ottoman. the cushions are already caving in and it has been one month. We recently decided to look for a mid quality sectional for use in our family room that is kind of tight as far as space goes. Visited our local Bear DE Ashley location and found a unit that we felt met our needs, and worked with Andranae to customize the pieces and pricing. Before we visited I applied for credit with Synchrony to take advantage of the 0% finance offer thinking this would save me time in store, well unfortunately that was a mistake as we were told we had to wait for physical credit cards to use. Had we applied in store this could have been avoided. Ashley wrote our order up and applied promo pricing, and we waited for cards to arrive which took about 5 days. When we returned, a new promotion had started and Andranae was able to rework pricing and saved us additional money. Sammie who processed the payment and paperwork also was very helpful, and made the purchase finalization complete. We hate the wait time for delivery but realize that is a necessary evil. Do not buy a thing there! I agree with Lisa G. I've been having an ongoing problem with a 5 piece white Prentice bedroom set delivered on July 17th 2014. It came severely damaged, which was attempted to be concealed by paint prior to delivery. We purchased it from the Bear, Delaware store. About a day after delivery, I noticed several damaged areas. I contacted the store manager Deidre Legister (who was also our salesperson) on 7/19 via email. I included details of the problem and pictures. She replied rudely and briefly saying to call the service department. I then wrote back wondering what the "service department" had to do with things that were delivered defective. She wrote back equally as curt as the first time. To explain briefly, the bedpost connected on the right side of the tall headboard is CRACKED right through the wood from top to bottom. There are places where the paint is chipping off of all 5 pieces If I were to wipe it down, paint would be coming off. There are other areas where the white furniture had clearly been bumped into something and scraped. There were dirty hand prints all over it. One damaged area on the front of the nightstand, as well as the bedpost mentioned previously had been (poorly) concealed with paint and some type of putty. There are several areas on the dresser that were never caulked where the wood pieces meet, but other similar areas were. This leaves ugly gaps between wood pieces that are very visible on white furniture. I attempted to reach the service department by phone and email (servicedept@ashleyhomestoremd.com) to request a refund or replacement starting 7/21. I did not receive a response until 7/29. This occurred only after we filed a dispute with our credit card, which we purchased the furniture with. Tiffany Hackett from the service dept left me a voicemail on 7/29 regarding the complaint. I returned her call on the 30th only to find out that she was not working there anymore. I spoke to someone named Linda who found our original email and said someone would get back to me. I did receive a confirmation email that our complaint was received, but that was about it. On 8/8 I had a voicemail by a woman who did not leave her name. She asked me to text the unnamed service technician that was coming out for "repair" to schedule a day to come out this week. I texted this person on 8/11 (the next business day) to ask if they were going to assist with a return or replacement. They explained they were only dispatched to do repairs and if I was "seeking anything beyond repair, [he] could not participate in that dialog". Really??? I then asked if he had someone specific we could contact about it and he just said to call the warehouse. Fortunately we have the credit card company dealing with the dispute. I am tired of trying to get Ashley to help me. I could not imagine what it would be like to have paid cash for this. We've had two bedroom sets in the bedroom for a month now. I came in really had a great experience with the sales team, however when it came down to delivery and dealing with customer service the overall experience has been horrible. When I ordered the sectional with the ottoman there was an issue with delivering the ottoman, I was later told it could not be delivered, I would have to pick it up when it came in, I agreed. The sectional was delivered they put a big gash in my wall that will need to be patched, put a huge scratch h in the tent window of my screen door and arrived 45 minutes outside the delivery window. Three weeks later I get a call stating they can deliver the ottoman after all we agreed on Wednesday evening with a window from 3-7pm. The day before the delivery I get a message stating that my time is now 9-1 pm, Hello??!!! I am an elementary school teacher I can't take off with short notice for this. So I call and see if I can just pick it up like originally planned, I am told I will have to cancel and pay $150, I stated that was insane I will not do that, she tells me the ottoman is already paid for if I want to "let it go" that's up to me. I ask to speak with a manager she states she is the only person in store right now, I ask for her manger to call me back and she states he's gonna tell you the same thing. Basically they are stealing an ottoman that was paid cash money for. Sadly the horrible customer service is so bad that it made me forget about the nice salesman. Never again will I shop there! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING AT THIS STORE!! i bought a bedroom set in January. The finish is lifting off of my brand new dresser, and the service department told me that it was cosmetic and couldn't do anything about it. The store told me that I had to deal with the service department. I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW NOT TO BUY ANYTHING FROM ASHLEY. No one was helpful at all. We went to Ashley Furniture in Dover, Delaware for the Labor Day sale. We were greeted by Bill and allowed to browse through the store. When we had a question on the purchase of a floor model, Bill was very responsive with out being overbearing. Bill and store manager Skip worked with us and we were able to purchase to full bedroom sets and mattresses for a great price. No Stars. People, be aware.....if you change you mind in 24 hrs. You will be charged at 40% (yes 40%) restocking for something that has not even been put on the truck...They tell you 2-4 weeks. and 2 days later, it appears on your credit card without even having a delivery date. We had to cancel a week later after a few doctors visits realized we should wait a while to buy the furniture and yes, we were told when we purchased the furniture totaling $1500 that there would be a "re-stocking" fee if cancelled in 24 hours but didn't say how much and I know that if I was told 40% my ears would have gone up....so when cancelling we had to pay $600 for something that we did not get. Filed complaint with Credit card co and all they can do get the $1000 credit which took 40 days. WE WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THAT STORE AGAIN. I can understand a bit if it was "on the way" . even Raymour and Flanigan can be cancelled as early as day before with ANY fees. Just saying......read the fine print.....before signing anything. The sales person was rude and unfriendly , no help and never once shared her name . She ruined my experience and happiness. My experience is at the very front end of the buying process. Our salesperson, Andranae, was very pleasant to deal with and answered all of our questions regarding a chaise sofa and coffee table for the sitting area of our master bedroom. Sammie finished up the order where we paid and gave our address for delivery and was also pleasant. The 50% Labor Day Sale is impressive for a lower price as I was expecting the 50% to come off a larger mark up and bring the price down to what you'd normally pay. So, we await delivery and we'll see/hope that the negative reviews don't come true for us. I did ask Andranae to call me for the next 50% off sale, as we need to replace our family room couch and lounger. In looking over their choices, I have to say that the sofa/coffee table, we bought, and the theater style recliner/leather couch, we'd like to get, seemed to me to be of decent quality. Overall, I'd say the furniture is good for everyday living. I have 3 labrador retrievers who believe the couch is theirs. I think it will stand up to them for 10 years. I know it wasn't because it was the same junky furniture we were getting rid of. I wouldn't have bought the same crap!! Like so many other reviews posted, I made a BIG mistake buying from Ashley Furniture. The problem is the warehouse located in Newark, Delaware. When the furniture was delivered (loveseat, recliner and sofa - all power, 2 end tables, coffee table and two lamps), one of the delivery guys was very rude. He walked in like he owned the place and not even a greeting. They damaged the loveseat, couch and recliner by scratching them going up the stairs and into the door. This also left unsightly damage to the door entrance. When I suggested that they do more to protect the furniture in the future, he had the nerve to as me "how". He's the delivery person and had to ask ME how. What a joke. I told him to wrap the furniture in the blankets they had in the truck. Then he asked me how would the blankets stay on. What a joke! I told him to use the rope (also in the truck) to tie it around the blanket. He shut up after that, but this only the beginning of my nightmare. All the tables have swirl marks, smudges, outright scratches and a noticeable dent in one of the end tables. I was told the swirl marks are "normal". It's obvious they were used. I called Ashley about repair or replacement. They have missed multiple appointments (both telephone call-backs and visits) and not even called to reschedule. I had to consistently call them after they missed the appt. The manager was a nice guy, but VERY forgetful. They came out to look at it (after they missed an appt that I had to call them about), then came out to try some swirl remover (again, after another missed appointment that I had to call them about). The swirl remover did not remove the swirls. Then they said they would order new table tops and have them delivered to my residence. Two weeks passed, nothing. I call them to ask about the delivery, they said they would check and call me right back. Two days passed, nothing. I called them, yet again, and was told that the separate table tops were not an option. So tell me why didn't they call me when the found this out??? Makes it so bad is that the manager told me (on his previous visit) that he had already ordered one of the table tops. Only a couple weeks ago did the manager get a hold of 1 tabletop and replace the one that was dented. His doing that was the only thing that kept this being a 0 star review. He also said he would escalate the other table issues to his boss. Since then I've tried speaking to the main manager, but he always has left early. I give up. This site does not allow images, but I've uploaded images of the tables to other sites like BBB and other consumer sites. I don't know about other Ashley stores, but communication with the customer is non existent with this warehouse in Newark DE. They answer the phone, but not much after that. Either way. Absolutely the worse customer relations I've ever experienced. All I can do at this point is sell this stuff at a loss, buy GOOD tables and send complaint letters. If you live in Delaware, I strongly recommend that you don't buy from Ashley furniture! Save yourself some money and a headache. If you must, then don't let the delivery guys rush you to sign for the delivery like the did to me. Inspect the furniture thoroughly because coming from Ashley (and from reading other reviews), it's automatically suspect. If you notice damage, don't sign! If there was a review for minus 1 star, they would have received it. Other than Frank (who arrived early and opened the doors) Ashley Furniture should be ashamed of this location. It was notable that Frank is the most reliable employee, everyone else showed up late, "tacky" (putting on tee-shirts in front of the customers), looking like they had been out all night, not to mention the manager who reeked of beer and cigarettes from the night before. Unlike Raymour and Flanagan and Bassett, the dress code needs to be seriously reviewed. Now, onto the poor customer service; no one had any idea of the skew numbers for the advertised products in the ad; furniture pictured in the ad was not available in the store for review. The lack of regular team meetings is very apparent since employees claimed to have no knowledge of the Black Friday sales or items in the flyer. Wow! One employee arrived late and began asking a customer if they wanted an extended warranty and the customer had not made a purchase yet. Lastly, but certainly not least, to the marketing department of Ashley, why are selling extended warranties for $100 on purchases under that are under $100? This makes me think of two things: 1- Your furniture is cheap; 2- Only certain issues may be covered after a period of time. This used to be a quality chain, and I'm not sure when that changed, however, it's not for me. read more

HORRIBLE customer service and damaged furniture! to keep this as short as possible and to the point these people are friendly for the sale but once you pay you are on your own. I purchased a NEW in the box table and chairs, got them home and opened the box to realize 2 of the leafs were damaged. I immediately contacted my sales guy (corey) and sent pictures of the damage. I was told I could bring them back to the store and exchange them for another set. I decided to call the store and ask that they be inspected before I made the trip and was told there was a scratch on one of them but not to worry they had a repair man coming and he would take care of it. I never heard back so I called the store and was told the repair man missed a rub mark and he would be back in a week and have it ready to go. a week went by and again nobody contacted me so I called the store myself just to find out that the repair man hadn't showed up. not feeling that they were taking me seriously I requested that they put a manager on the phone. the manager (Barbara) was very nasty to me and said they would not replace them I would have to take my damaged leafs to middle river and have them replaced. not happy with that I wanted to talk to a district manager. I was told he would give me a call back later that day. the next day I decided to call them back and see what was going on and was told he should of called me back by now and they don't know what was going on. they requested that he called me again, and I was told he would call me the following day. I never received a call so again, I call the store to see what was going on and was told he would be calling the store on his lunch break to speak to Barbara and she would personally tell him to call me. once again I never received a call so I call again...this time he was at a new store opening at a Pennsylvania store and could not talk but he would definitely be calling me back asap. frustrated, I called a customer service number I found online and explained what I had been dealing with to them.The woman on the other end told me they would not be able to swap out leaves because the holes would not match up and the wood grain would be different. She made contact with the store and had them contact me just to tell me I needed to take them to middle river for repair. I called middle river and they told me that it was entered in the computer as a floor model table and it was as is ,they could not help me. I explained to them it was NOT a floor model and it was a NEW IN BOX stock table I had purchased. The guy told me that unless it was corrected in the computer he couldn't help me. I call the store again and speak to crystal who changes it and tells me they will take care of me. I called middle river again and they tell me i have to pay 150 dollars to have someone look at it since i picked it up and it was not delivered to me. i fuss with them and get transferred a few times and explaining my situation again every time, finally being told they were offering me this service as a courtesy for 150 dollars and they did not have to do that for me. I purchased a NEW table not a damaged discounted table and they want to offer me a courtesy service for 150 dollars to repair my NEW table. they went on to tell me i should of inspected it before i left the store... I explained it was still in the box wrapped up never opened and was told again i should of inspected it before taking it home. I called the store numerous times and tried getting this resolved before leaving a negative review and made them aware that i would be leaving the review on yelp as they requested me doing but it would not be a good one...never once did they seem to care. so now that ive been going back and forth with them for over a month and wasted another half hour on here giving them their review I can say BUYER BE WARE and i would not recommend them to ANYONE. worst customer service I have ever had--or lack of. honestly they did not earn a 1 star review from me on here but they didn't offer anything less. read more

I will never do business with them again. I called the day before my delivery on a Monday to cancel my delivery for the following Tuesday because I had an issue removing my old furniture my trash company could not remove it until later that week in the town I live in does not allow us to put our furniture out too far away from trash day. The lady at the store said that they would go ahead and let the distribution center now that they would cancel it. On Tuesday when I woke up and did not receive a phone call to reschedule I called and was told that the furniture was already on the truck they never got a cancellation message and if I want to reschedule it was another $99. So I paid extra money to get rid of my old furniture and I called back the store to get my $99 refunded for the delivery charge. After calling multiple times and the manager saying I will call you back I have to call my district manager I finally got her to give me an answer (even though she never called me back like she said she would I had to keep calling her) she said the warehouse doesn't want to refund the money and there's nothing she can do about it. Horrible horrible horrible customer service I will never buy anything from them again and I hope everyone else chooses some other furniture store to buy new furniture. We ordered a sectional couch, 2 end tables and a coffee table on February 15th, Bear DE location. We were told the couch would be delivered within 2 weeks and the end tables and coffee table could take 4-6 weeks as they were back ordered. We said that was fine. 2 weeks go by, no couch or phone call. We call them, they say it isn't in yet to be delivered. 4 weeks go by, still no couch or phone call. We call them again and it's still not in for delivery. 6 weeks go by and we call THEM A THIRD TIME and find out the couch is sitting in their storage unit and the delivery people were "unaware it was there." They finally deliver the couch, which ended up coming with the coffee and end tables on March 28th. Upon delivery, the middle piece of the sectional was ripped. We were told we would have a middle piece delivered immediately. 2 weeks go by, and no middle piece to the sectional couch or phone call. Again, we reach out to THEM and they tell us they are getting a new cover made and it will be delivered by "sometime" in May. NO ONE has been helpful and no one has tried to compensate for these issues, but EVERYONE has given us the run around. No one has even reached out to US about the EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. The only thing that has been "on time" is our monthly bill. I have been making payments, but I have to say I'm upset in doing so as I'm paying for something I still don't have and it's been 2 months and I'm STILL waiting. I purchased my furniture from the Bear DE location on 3/19/2017. It was delivered to my home on April 25th. Upon delivery it was damaged and so were the walls to my home. I was told someone would contact me to have the issue corrected. No one called me I called the delivery office on 4/28/17 and was told I needed to send pictures. I did. The office is closed on Monday so I followed on Wednesday since no one had called me. I was told that fabric would be sent to my home. The fabric was sent about a week later. I called again and was told that someone would call me back. No one called me back. I called the store and spoke to the Crystal who told me the manager Barbara would call me back. She did not. I called again ad spoke to Lisa at the delivery store and was told someone would call me back. No one has called. I called the store again and spoke to Barbara and she said someone would call me back. No call back. I went into the store on 5/21 and was told the Dist. Manager was not in because he is a preacher! I spoke to Sammie who said Barbara would call me back on 5/22 by noon. No call! I called at @ 2 and was told by Sammie that she got busy and that she would have Barbara reach out to me. Here I am a month later with damaged walls and damaged furniture no one is displaying in care in correcting. This was my first purchase from store, I thought if I went to a reputable store I would not have the issues I am experiencing. This is crazy! This cannot be how you give Customer Service! O h and let me not forget Barbara's words to me. " I have seen it take this long". I think those words were supposed to comfort me. My husband and I bought a living room set consisting of a sectional and two tables in October 2017. Everything was delivered on time and it wasn't until about a week later we realized the one piece of the sectional was broke when I sat on it for the first time. It made a loud bang noise and sunk in. We pulled the cushion off to see what the noise was and the whole support was broken. No one can sit on that piece. We have called the warehouse and the store we bought the piece from over 10 times with no luck of anyone even calling us back. Not only was the sectional broken but the metal coffee table we bought is crooked! It was delivered this way and the store and warehouse are refusing to call us back or do anything about it! DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS or you could be dealing with brand new broken furniture like my husband I for weeks on end! And yes we did purchase the warranty, No I am not obese and broke it myself, and we have been called for weeks with the promise the manager would call us back. read more

if you ever have a problem forget about them helping you.i bought a living room group and the sofa did not fit so i still have part of the group in my house wraped in sheets because they want to charge me a pick up fee and a restocking fee and they wont do anything about it so now a have to get a lawyer and they don't care never go there believe me!!anybody know a good lawyer let me know please read more
