Recently, we had an issue with a thermostat that was not working due to a cut wire (home owners mistake!) between the second floor thermostat and the oil burner. will never be dealing with this company again. A few months ago had a service repair. The guy said he had to bypass the transformer but it would eventually need to be replaced. Got a bill in the mail charging me for a new transformer ,which they ended up putting a new one in after all. Paid for the service on a credit card ,but did not wanna save the card. two months later placed a call to have oil delivered. I had a credit of 30 gallons from the time before that I wanted to use, instead they told me they used the credit towards my service bill that i didnt ask to be done.They ended up delivering the oil, the next day found out they charged my credit card , that I gave no permission to charge, told them I did not want it to be saved, nor they didn't even ask how I would like to pay. will never deal with this shady company again. read more

We have been buying oil from Ashley Fuel for 5 years or so. Their prices for automatic delivery are certainly reasonable. They have also made a couple of repair calls in that time. Every interaction we have had with them has been professional and cost estimates were accurate. This week we had them replace our thirty year old furnace after getting estimates from several companies. We could not be happier with our choice! The estimate was very detailed. Time frames were made clear and kept. Paul and his grandson Jack removed the old furnace a week before the install to give us some time to do some work on the space. The office communicated well about arrival times the day the install started. Paul and Jack returned and spent a long work day getting most of the install done. Their communication with each other was clear, calm and professional. No cursing, no yelling and it was clear that Paul was an excellent teacher of the trade to his grandson. They were respectful of our property and even of our cats. Paul returned the next day to finish up the install. They included running a new oil line to the tank which other estimates did not include. The furnace is so much quieter than our old one! He made sure everything was working properly despite our thermostat not working. He assured us he would return to help us replace it if needed. Sneaky & dishonest. After my free oil burner cleaning last year I was told that my burner needed a part replaced, when I asked the cost I was told "it's a cheap part, only $15-20", later I received a $300+ bill. When I asked how it cost so much more than the initial quote they said "well you don't expect us to do the work for free do you?" No, I don't. But I do expect you to be honest with the quote and include suspected labor costs (especially when they are going to add that much more to my final bill). This year I was called to set up my annual burner cleaning. The guy shows up almost an hour past the later end of the window they gave me. No phone call to let me know they were running late. A few days later I receive a bill for $198, surprise! Only your first year cleaning is free, would have been nice to know. That's fine if it's a one time free deal, but yet again I felt they were withholding of some important details in an attempt to make a sneaky dollar. The worst part about either of these experiences (beyond feeling lied to and taken advantage of) was the "customer service" I encountered following the incidences. Both times I was met with demeaning annoyance. I was spoken down to for not understanding what it takes to run an oil business (it is not my responsibility to know that offering a free cleaning every year would put you out of business. I thought the hundreds of dollars I pay for oil every year would offset the cost) Done, I'll give my money to someone else. Someone I can trust. read more

Customer service is friendly, and their technicians are prompt, professional, and reliable. Pricing is consistently among the lowest on the North Shore. Just to give a quick example of how awesome Ashley Fuel's service is - when we ordered a load of oil last week, they said they'd deliver it on Wednesday, and they did. Unremarkable, except that last Wednesday we had a blizzard. It would have been completely reasonable for the delivery to happen on Thursday, or even Friday. But Ashley Fuel said Wednesday, and they delivered on Wednesday. That seems to be pretty typical for our dealings with them - they do what they say they'll do when they say they'll do it for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend them. read more

We just moved to the area from California and heating oil is a foreign concept for us. We received a mailer inviting us to be customers and I'm so glad we went with them. We've only had a handful of interactions with them but so far they have gone above and beyond what anyone would expect from them. We self installed a thermostat and had issues with getting heat. We called Ashley fuel on a Friday night and within 30 minutes the OWNER was at hour house helping us get our thermostat installed correctly. Wow. That is pretty amazing service. I called Ashley Fuel to schedule a service for our oil burner, simple cleaning and tune up. They set up the appointment for two day later between 8 and 10am. The date/time came and went. I called to find out what happened. They called be back and stated because I do not buy oil from them they will not service my furnace. They stated it wasn't fair to their current customer to take up Ashley Fuels time in case an oil buying customer has an emergency. Just two years back they serviced our burner and I was not a current customer. I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

I have been a customer of Ashley Fuels for over 10 years. I bought the house and the prior owner mentioned to me at closing how pleased she was with them. I am glad I choose to use them. They have always been available when we needed them and our system has run almost flawlessly and I attribute that to their regular maintenance. I recently had them do some work for me ( reroute the fill and vent pipes, add outside air intake for the boiler and perform some other maintenance) as I am remodeling my basement and the work was done very professionally, on time and for a great price.
