Al's quote was $500 cheaper and you could tell from the get go he would be a pleasant guy to deal with.

So grateful for his service. 2. In a non-emergency, Danny came through with a game plan and a quote to replace our aging water heater. Scheduled the next day, he texted to give us a heads up of when to be home, and then took care of our old water heater and hooked us up with a brand new 10 year unit. Such a pleasure to work with. 3. In every touchpoint, he came through not only with skill, expertise and experience, but he educated us on how the process would go and what to expect. Peace of mind. Super efficient. Wonderful service. Great guy. Highly recommend!

All previous owners went down to the basement to do laundry. I tried 5 different plumbers and Daniel Wright was the only one who agreed to plumb in a ventless dual unit for a reasonable price. He did an outstanding job very efficiently. I have used him for so many other things, including installing a new water heater, and a range of other major and minor fixes. He is always responsive, prompt, cheerful, extremely knowledgable and his prices are very fair. I've owned many homes in my life, in many places, and have worked with other plumbers in this area. I know I found my North Shore plumber and am very happy to recommend Danny unreservedly.

Add in that I was trying to do it through Mass Save with a heat loan. Rich came out to my house on a Saturday to look at the job and give us the quote we would need to get the heat loan. He had the quote to me that same day via email and he dropped off a paper copy the next business day. He's forthright and honest and he started teeing up the special pieces we would need while we were waiting for the bank to approve the loan. He was very responsive the whole time and was good about giving me a call for updates. Because of the jury-rigged nature of the old furnace, he told us it would take two days, possibly three, to get the old one out and the new furnace and water heater in. He got the water heater in and running on day one so that we could use it. He worked late on a Friday to get the furnace done right before the temperatures dropped down below 20. The new ductwork, venting, and drain for the condensate are all really well done. You can see the quality of his work. It is well below freezing outside, and this is the warmest my house has been since I bought it. He even came back after the install was complete to change an exterior fitting for the air intake because he wasn't happy with the part he had on hand when he did the job originally. 10/10 I would go back to Rich for any work I needed done.

Rich is a real professional who not only loves what he does, does it well, but also really cares about his customers. Last night, my water heater kicked the bucket. I called Boston Water Heaters at around 9 pm to leave a message and Rich answered. Yes, he answered at 9 pm. Rich fit me in and came out today to install a new water heater for me. He came when he said and charged me what I knew to be a fair price. I will not use anyone else for this service. The care he has shown to me when I've been in a pinch has earned him my loyalty as a customer. Thanks Rich!

Ryan was great, tried to keep my carpets/bathroom clean as much as possible and was patient in discussing my options and answering my questions. Surprisingly was able to get an appointment for install on Monday. Jared was also great. Definitely appreciate the small details and concerns to keep the carpet clean like hand carrying both the old and new water heater up 2 flights of stairs. Between the quick response/scheduling time, clean workmanship, and fine attention to detail, happy to say the leaking water heater experience felt less chaotic with 128's help! Total turnaround time, Friday 11pm to Monday 4pm hot water up and running!!

I called 128 Plumbing about one cracked drain pipe. I was told my entire house needed to be…read morerepiped. The estimate (#435094323) was $30,275 to demo every wall and ceiling necessary, disconnect first- and second-floor bathrooms, toilets and sinks, and replace the main stack. That was presented to me as the only option -- no alternatives, no phasing, nothing. And it did not include the roughly $6,000 I'd need to close the walls back up and reinstall fixtures, or the ~$400 roofer I'd have to hire and coordinate myself. Their own estimate puts the hole repair on the customer in writing. All in: nearly $37,000. Meanwhile my first-floor tenant was told she couldn't use her bathroom or her kitchen. When I hesitated at the number, I was told that at least if I sold the house I'd "have retail value." That's the line that made me stop and get a second opinion. Thompson Plumbing came out, found the actual leak -- old hubbed cast iron serving the kitchen -- and repiped it. $2,995. My final invoice was $3,420, and that included an unrelated frost-free silcock I added on. My toilet was fine. My kitchen sink was fine. My tenant's kitchen and bathroom were fine. Not one wall was demoed. Same house. Same leak. Ten percent of the price. I'm not going to speculate about why the two assessments were so far apart. I'll just say this: if 128 Plumbing tells you your house needs a $30,000 repipe, get a second quote before you sign anything. I nearly didn't, and it would have cost me thirty-three thousand dollars I did not need to spend.
