The car in front of me (younger female in a Mustang) received window cleaning all around. That caught my attention because I've never seen Valvoline clean windows. When it was my turn however, they weren't thinking about reaching for the squeegee until I said "what about my windows?" At which point one of them sprayed some Windex on my windshield and pushed it around a little. My windshield may actually have been cleaner before he did that. Lol. Another major difference is I had to special request them to put air in my tires. That has absolutely been an automatic step at every other Valvoline I've been to. Is this an express vs full-service difference? Who's to say? And the third big difference was that at check out when I asked if they had any promotions or special discounts I could utilize, I was told "ladies day was yesterday." In my experience there is always a discount even if it's $7 off or 10% or something to be given when asked. Chuck Dick, the operations manager on duty, was cordial and knowledgeable, but seemed a little distracted with the customer / former employee in line behind me. I'm not saying the service was terrible, I am saying it could certainly have been better.

I said let's do it knowing full well that's what my car takes and that's what I have been changing my own oil with for the last three years. As soon as I got around to the bay, they looked at my car and said we can only do the $80 one because blah blah blah blah. Well you just lied and just lost a customer . I've experienced other horror stories from jiffy lube first hand. This is the last time I will ever consider using them.

I believe they took advantage of my situation due to having to have the car towed there. They charged me $923 to fix two lines of my brakes. They did not replace them. Just cut it in four places and put unions. They charged me over $700 alone in labor for this. They then threw on a "shop supply" fee of $70 at the end. I had to call them and get it off. To quote someone then add another $70 to that quote for a "shop supply" fee is unethical. I've taken my car to several dealerships and mechanics and have never had this happen. If you want fast service this is the place. Just be prepared to put down a decent amount of money for fast and easy work.

When I got back into town on Monday, I made a FB post looking for recommendations on a repair shop that wouldn't rip me off and would repair it without me having to bring it back several times. One of my friends suggested Duffy's and I decided to give them a shot since she gave a good review and they were close to my house. I pulled up the website and noticed a text feature which was great since I was in the office and unable to talk on the phone. Within a few minutes, I was told told that he had a pretty full day the next day but that he could get me on to take a look. I dropped the vehicle off and a short while later I received another text asking me to call him where he went over how much it was going to cost and what exactly the test entailed. I told him he could move forward with the test. He texted me again and asked me to call back in and told me they were able to find the leak and they could repair it that day if I wanted them to. I agreed to the repairs and he let me know when the work was complete. I called and paid over the phone bc I wasn't sure I was going to make it there before close. When I got to my car, the invoice was laying on the front passenger seat and I appreciated that it included everything that was wrong, what they did, and all of the details in between. The nice cold air immediately blew on my face and I was extremely satisfied with my experience. As if I didn't already have a pleasant experience, I was even more pleased the following morning when he reached out to me again and wanted to let me know that when the condenser was replaced, it was evident that the damage was from a previous accident that the vehicle was in and that it might be worth it to reach out to my insurance company. The only accident the vehicle has ever been involved in was striking a deer in 2018 where I already had 4K in repairs completed and they obviously missed this. I reached out to my insurance company and asked to add this to the original claim and they have already agreed to reimburse me! Lane with Duffys was very helpful from the get go! I will definitely be a repeat customer and recommend this shop in the future.

I always trusted Blaine's and never felt they were taking advantage of me. That's over 30 yrs! And I'm very picky about my mechanics! I'll still take my cars to Blaine's if I have a particularly complicated problem. It's just a little harder because I don't live in Ashland. If you can, take your cars to these guys!
