I came here for a scheduled state inspection and was genuinely impressed from start to finish. The…read morefront desk employee, Tim, was extremely courteous, kind, and patient in explaining everything. He walked me through the inspection process in detail and let me know that they look beyond just the bare minimum of the state inspection to make sure the car is in good overall shape. My car ended up passing without any issues, but I still left feeling very informed about its condition. Tim took the time to explain what they checked and why. The atmosphere was welcoming and I felt like they actually cared about me as a customer. The state inspection was also done right away, as scheduled, which was a huge plus. No long wait, no runaround. I am genuinely happy to give them more of my business in the future. If I need tires or any kind of repair work, this is where I am coming back. I honestly think I have found my new go to car shop. A hidden gem in Ashland for sure.

Towed to a tire place about an hour south of here (we were headed to NC) where BOTH FRONT TIRES HAD EXPOSED STEEL BELTS ON THE INSIDE EDGES. That clearly did not occur in the intervening week since we were at Ferber's. It is OBVIOUS they didn't even look at the front tires, or they would have seen the exposed steel. We were EXTREMELY FORTUNATE to have gotten off the road safely today. If one or both fronts had blown at speed, it could have caused a deadly accident. NEGLIGENT ON FERBER'S PART. Take your business elsewhere( one star) Edit: After a phone call from the business, and upon seeing this review, the company has tried to right their wrong. Services were again rendered, to our satisfaction. More importantly, the service staff has been re-educated about checking all the shoes on the cars they are asked to service. I sincerely hope *this* was the last time something like this will happen. Review amended accordingly.

They took the time to thoroughly inspect my vehicle and clearly explain every option available (Thank you Jordan), including the pros and cons of repairing it versus exploring other paths. There was zero pressure and no sales pitch--just honest, knowledgeable guidance. They answered every question patiently and made sure I understood the long-term implications, costs, and safety considerations before I decided what to do. What really stood out was their integrity. Instead of pushing the most expensive repair (which for me it was an engine), they focused on what made the most sense for my vehicle and my budget. That level of transparency and care is rare in the automotive world. If you're looking for a place that treats you with respect, is patient with your questions, communicates clearly, and genuinely and helps you make an informed decision about your car, Glen Allen Transmission is the place to go. I feel so grateful and that's not something you can put a price on. Highly recommend. Elizabeth S.
