We come to hocking hills often and thought checking it out would be could so we could potentially book here. Unfortunately, staff declined helping or accommodating us in any capacity. We weren't welcome at the pub or to make a dinner reservation. Then I asked the assistant what options were around in the area and she played dumb. It felt like phony, unprofessional and not helpful. This place should be open to the public and strive to have better customer service and be a bit more welcoming. I recommend staying at Amongst the Trees, instead or cut above cabins.

I brought my husband for his birthday weekend, and we had such a fun, relaxing time surrounded by the peaceful scenery. We were greeted with beautiful celtic music playing as we entered our accommodations. All the areas of the cottage were clean and inviting, and we couldn't wait to unwind in front of the gas fireplace after unloading our belongings. We spent a lot of time in the hot tub- surrounded by vibrant hues of red and orange leaves glowing in the sunlight. Wrapped in the provided robes, we sipped wine in front of the large picture window in the living room, soaking in even more of fall's beauty. On the night of his birthday, we enjoyed a six course dinner that ended with the whole dining room singing him "Happy Birthday", which made him incredibly happy. Afterward, we took flashlights and went on a night walk on one of the trails behind the cottages. Our two night stay was magical. The effort that goes into making Glenlaurel a dedication to its Scottish roots was evident in every detail of our stay and we truly enjoyed immersing ourselves in the experience.

My family and I booked the room specifically so our children could enjoy the pool over the weekend. We are local, so the pool was the only reason for our stay. When we arrived, the front desk staff completed the check-in process and only afterward informed us that the pool was closed. Had we been told this before checking in, we would not have proceeded with the reservation at all. Because the pool was unavailable, we stayed in the room for less than an hour while trying to resolve the issue. The front desk told us they could not cancel since the booking was through Expedia, so we contacted Expedia directly. Expedia reached out to the hotel, but the hotel declined to issue a refund even though we did not stay and primary amenity we booked for was unavailable. Charging nearly $300 for a stay we could not use is unfair, especially when the lack of disclosure prevented us from making an informed decision. We would have never checked in had we been told the pool was closed. I have stay at this hotel many of times and have never had issue this time however was different. The pool was the reason i left however, i was upset already because when we arrived she said there was a 250 deposit which I have never had to pay all the other time we stayed and she was going to cancel then and I said no ill figure it out however if she would have informed me the pool was close before checking us in I would have let her canceled. The woman wasnt friendly either. I was also informed they are under new management. Explains why it is going downhill.

The hotel charged my debit card four times for the same room which totally drained my bank account. I tried to talk to the gentleman at the front desk and he proceeded to tell me that by signing up through the app that they can charge my card whenever they want. Needless to say, He was not helpful at all. This was before I even arrived to the hotel. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager was busy and I said I would be there in 20 minutes. The manager was supposed to talk with me and conveniently he left 10 minutes before I got there. It took me over five days to get my money back. I even complained to the Corporate Hilton, which also was 0% help. They promised that I would receive a call and they would do something to help make this better. Here we are almost a month later and nothing has been done. Also, While standing in line, I heard from two other customers that they had charged their debit card more than once as well. I have tried to get in touch with management to resolve this issue however no one wants to return my call. Please beware when staying here as the management is terrible and clearly they don't do anything to make things right. I will never stay here again.

Came here with my friend and her mother for a single night stay as part of a friend's wedding. I was surprised to see a Holiday Inn in this area since it isn't particularly populated, though I certainly appreciated it being here! The rooms are clean and well-appointed, and any amenity you might need is either already in the room or available at the front counter. I somehow managed to forget to bring an iPhone charger (arguably the most important thing you should bring on any trip) so I went up front to see if they had one on offer and, sure enough, they offered me one right away. I half-expected them to ask for my driver's license or at least room number before entrusting it to me, though they were super casual about it : "It's fine, you can bring it back whenever you're done with it!" Wow, that's a breath of fresh air! The complimentary breakfast here was very nice and had a variety of warm options (not just cold cereal or basic oatmeal like many hotels try to pass off as a meal), and I dutifully returned the charger to the front desk prior to departure, with them accepting it back as casually as they had issued it. Maybe that's more about the nature of people who live around here, though I appreciated it just the same! While I didn't use the pool on this occasion, it did look very appealing, as did the landscaping around the hotel. I was very pleased with my short visit here and would gladly do it again if offered the chance! Overall: 5.0 stars ---- Pros: - Excellent rooms with everything you'll need to keep you comfortable. - Clean rooms, common areas, and parking lot. - Pleasant (and trusting) staff. - Great continental breakfast, actually worthy of that title. Cons: - None. You pay more for Holiday Inn than you would elsewhere and for good reason: they provide great value and ensure you're well-rested and in a good mood for whatever rigors tomorrow holds for you!

Firstly, this is the best and friendliest staff I have ever known. The GM is hilarious and made time to make sure everything was right in my room and even brought me goodies to snack on even though I couldn't- I'm on keto, but they were very tempting snacks. Ok, so let me tell you about the room. Girl, the room had the most perfect bed I have ever slept on. If I could have figured out a way to smuggle this bed out I would have. I'm kinda like the Goldilocks of hotel beds and this one was just right. So right in fact that when I went to lay down for just 5 min before unpacking my gear it sucked me in and I slept for 2 hours ! That never happens! The tv was actually larger than my 50 inch at home and had great channels. This one hotel has messed up my entire theory of hotel cable. Maybe it's an anomaly, but in all the years I have been traveling for my career the equation has been the better the hotel is the shittier the cable. Well thanks for proving me wrong this time, Hampton Inn! The room itself was excellent. They gave me a handicap accessible room on the first floor and it was the first room when one walks in- as all handicapped rooms should be. Why most hotels put them so far down the hallways I'll never know. This one did it right. Getting a late checkout wasn't an issue, either. In fact they offered it to me. The best part of my stay had to be the giant picture of cows behind the front desk welcoming me into the hotel. Yes, cowss. I love cows and the cow picture just made me smile as I avoided the fresh, hot cookies. Corporate, leave that cow pic alone! Thank you so much, Hampton Inn! I will stay here next time I'm anywhere close.

One minute you're driving along backroads in Ohio and then BAM, you're starting at a medieval castle. Ravenwood Castle is well known for its focus on games of all kinds - board games, social deduction games, scavenger hunts - you name it, they have it. My mom and I came for a special weekend where they were hosting a murder mystery. Put on by a separate company, but hosted within Ravenwood Castle, our murder mystery experience started on Friday night and ran through Sunday morning. We worked in teams to solve the mystery and along the way participated in goofy and quirky games and puzzles to help us score points. When you stay, you can eat on site, or you can book a cabin and bring & prepare food in a small kitchenette. Alternatively, there are a few places you can order from / go out to in the surrounding areas, but nothing is particularly close by because the castle is in a remote area. While I found the food to be mediocre, the beer and whiskey selection is great, and a surprise stand out was their version of butterbeer, which is dangerously chuggable. If you're someone who loves board games and wants a weekend away to connect with friends or family, this is a great place to go!

There is a plethora to choose from as soon as you check in or when you're dining in the pub or premade scavenger hunts to do while walking around the property during your stay. My husband and I aren't board game enthusiasts but we did have a great time at the castle. After checking in we made our way to the King Arthur Suite, a short walk from the check-in desk and through the dining hall. The door to the King Arthur Suite is quite literally in the middle of the dining hall which we personally felt was kind of awkward because it is a prime gathering space for most of the guests. The two story suite was spacious, painted in a funky green and featured a giant jacuzzi tub which was the highlight of the room. A comfortable four poster bed on the second story made us feel like royalty and is close to the door that leads to a porch over looking the grounds behind the castle. My husband made a fire in the large fire pit outside of the castle that is closer to the cabins. The area was stocked with wood and we spent the majority of our evening enjoying a warm fire on the cool fall night. The pub downstairs serves beer and basic bar fare. It wasn't very busy when we stopped by but service was wonderful and we felt very welcome. Another couple proposed the four of us play a game together and we reluctantly obliged. Our patient competitors taught us how to play "Ticket To Ride" and it was a blast. So, in the end, Ravenwood Castle (and our new friends) did turn us into game people.
