We were driving back to NC, from a family reunion in Michigan, and had decided in advance to book a couple of relaxing nights at these cabins. The cottage we stayed in was cozy, clean and comfortable. It would have fit a couple of kids comfortably, as well. We really enjoyed being surrounded by nature, and the tranquility of the birds singing, deer sightings, all with the amenities of a wilderness resort, with jacuzzi on the deck, and a lake to fish and paddle-boat in. We had some beautiful, sunny days, so we did a lot of reading on our private deck, as well as on the shore of the lake, where there is a nice deck and lounge chairs. We took nice strolls through trails surrounding the neighborhood of cottages, and we paddle-boated on the lake, and fed the variety of fish, including some big catfish. The area is just a couple of miles down from Hocking Hills State Park, which we have visited on other excursions to the area. It's also not far from neighboring towns such as Lancaster, where we went out for lunch one day. The mattress of our bed was the most comfortable I have slept in to the point my husband asked the property manager to give us the info. on the mattresses they stock the cottages/cabins with. I also noticed that everything was top-notch, from the toilet brand, to the hardware installed in the faucets, the refrigerator, and other kitchen appliances, all top-of-the-line. Our cottage was Celtic-themed, and everything from the colors on the walls, to the knick-knacks used to decorate this cottage, brought me back to a Summer spent in Dublin, Ireland 17 years ago, during my college-years. Years ago, my family met up at Hocking Hills and we stayed at one of the larger cabins for a family reunion, and that cabin accommodated all 20 family members that showed up. Each room had it's own personal touch, with unique colors, bedding, area rugs and decor. Some of the cabins are decorated after an era, and the decor will really take you back. I highly recommend Dewberry Cottages, as it has always exceeded our expectations, and the staff is friendly and efficient. Hocking HIlls, Ohio is a beautiful place for a quick getaway, reunion, or much-needed retreat.

I never leave reviews but this place was so bad that I had to…read more 1. The cabin smelled absolutely disgusting. It almost smelled like like a cat had peed everywhere. 2. The hot was broke our entire stay. When we showed up around 7pm, there was a hose in the hot tub overflowing it with freezing cold water. Their negligence to turn the water off before we arrived cause our future issue. We had tried to call the owner but they were closed so we chalked it up to a loss & figured we'd just use it the next night on our last stay. We went hiking all day and came back under the assumption that the water would have heated up, only to find that it was not working at all. Again we tried to call but they were closed. The price point for this cabin is extremely high for a tiny box with no working hot tub. 3. When I was able to get ahold of the owner to ask for a partial refund due to the hot tub being broke - she hung up on me mid sentence and is now ignoring my calls. Extremely unprofessional. Save yourself the trouble and rent somewhere else.

The owners provided fire wood and had recently purchased a hot tub so we were the first ones to use it (yesssss!). We went with a group so half stayed upstairs while we stayed downstairs. The cabins are separated so I was a bit of a drag walking up a hill to visit friends but also nice to keep our privacy. The cabins are far from the main house so we were able to play music without being overly cautious. The only downfall was the driveway up. It consists of those white rocks so you have to rev your engine to go up the hill toward the cabin without getting stuck (which happened to our friend). All in all, this was a great experience and was only a 20 minute drive to Hocking Hills State Park, a must see. Jerry and Wendy are excellent hosts!

We stayed at Springwood Cabins last weekend for the second time, our first being last August. While…read morethere are several cabins on site, we've stayed at The Crows Nest cabin both times. Each cabin is far enough from the others with enough forest between them that you truly feel secluded in your own private site. We absolutely love The Crows Nest and I cannot recommend it enough nor give enough praise to the owners of Springwood due to their attention to detail and the perfect and spotless condition that they keep the cabin in. We've stayed at many cabin rentals throughout Ohio and Springwood Cabins has made us feel the most welcome and relaxed. The moment you walk in, you can feel the love that the owners have put into the cabin. Crows Nest is a two bedroom cabin with a large open living/kitchen area and each bedroom has its own full private bath. The front porch is spacious with four rocking chairs and they've added a brand new covered back deck with a table and plenty of seating and a new hot tub. We spent our breakfast time on the back deck daily. There is also a brand new outdoor grill below. To the left of the cabin is a well maintained fire pit with three sturdy benches, so you don't even need to bring your own camp chairs if you don't want to. Speaking of needs, the cabin is provided with everything you could need, all you have to bring is your food. Seriously. They supply bath towels and wash cloths, hot tub towels, paper towels, extra trash bags, toilet paper, kitchen towels, a fully stocked kitchen of cookware and utensils and plates. The appliances are well kept and clean: coffee maker, microwave, toaster and Keurig (with Keurig cups supplied), even dog bowls for if you bring your pets. And the WiFi is solid as well. When you first walk in, there is soothing music playing and you feel at peace immediately. It is thoughtfully decorated, the kitchen towels are even folded neatly on the stove. In the island counter is a personalized welcome tent card and that little detail made it feel extra special. I am really trying to find something constructive to add but it's difficult because the place is just perfect. If anything, I wish there were some hooks on the bathroom doors to hang my clothes, there is only a towel bar in the bathroom. I eventually want to stay at the Crows Nest in the fall for the changing of leaf color, I can only imagine how beautiful it is. I'd recommend Springwood to anyone who wants to truly get away for some time without sacrificing comfort.

The reason for me giving 3 stars is that the photos posted by the owners are quite deceptive regarding the distance from a busy highway. As you can see from my photos, CO-19 is approximately 30 feet from the cabin. Without the TV on, you can hear constant traffic even with the door closed. Trying to sit on the porch to relax was impossible because the road is so loud. The cabin is basically as pictured on the website, very homey and comfortable, and the other 3 cabins are far enough from Luna's to allow for privacy. We would have definitely had a wonderful, romantic honeymoon weekend if it hadn't been for the constant noise.

The overall size of the cabin was perfect for us, the great room, dining room / kitchen were the front half and not cramped. The back half was split with the bedroom and bathroom with the bedroom having a door to the rear balcony and hot tub. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, cooking utensils along with dishes, glassware, and silverware for four. It also had a full size oven / cook top and refrigerator along with a microwave and a Mr. Coffee. The great room had a comfy couch and chair along with a nice rocking chair a coffee table suitable for playing games on. There is also a TV with Satellite dish and a DVD player. Rounding out the room was a wonderful gas fireplace that kept the cabin comfortably warm on the cool spring nights. The bedroom had a comfortable queen sized bed with great linens and wonderful pillows. There are nightstands on both sides of the bed and a great dresser for all your stuff. The bathroom was spacious, clean, and well stocked with towels. The front porch had a porch swing, gas grill, and table and chairs while the back patio had two Adirondack chairs and the hot tub. The hot tub was perfect, clean and ready for use upon our arrival, along with additional towels. There is absolutely nothing that I can say that was a problem or wrong with my visit. I will certainly look to stay with Cedar Grove Lodging the next time I look for a cabin get away.

We rented the Gray Wolf Lodge for two nights and it truly exceeded expectations…read more Gray Wolf said it would sleep a maximum of 12, we had 10 people (6 adults and 4 teenagers) and everyone was comfortable. I had booked the lodge in December for a June stay and all arrival instructions were clearly articulated. House was very clean, furniture was comfortable, and you are about 10 minutes from Old Man's Cave. If you need something from Logan it is more of a 25-30 minute drive to a Walmart or Kroger. Also included staying here is a pool pass good for 12. I highly recommend the Gray Wolf lodge. It was a great experience in the Hocking Hills.

We arrived at Hocking Hills Saturday afternoon, hiked and hung out at the lodge. We then went to our cabin, arriving around 7:00 pm tired and ready for a campfire. But...the driveway was too steep for my SUV to climb. We attempted 4 times and gave up, there was no way my car was going to make it up the hill. We couldn't even see the cabin it was up a huge hill and around a bend. The reservation warned of a steep incline so I called the office when I made the reservation and was told that its only a problem in inclement weather - that was not true! I have a 2024 SUV, I do not have an old car that would be questionable. We couldn't get cell service to call the office so we left and drove to the nearest hotel thinking we would find somewhere else to stay. I reached a lady at Cabins by the Caves and was told we should have been able to get up the hill - her car gets up the hill with no problem and so does the cleaning ladies. Well - my car couldn't and I wasn't going to burn up the engine trying. She eventually gave me my money back and told us "never call again". We tried 4 hotels in the area, all were booked. We had no choice but to drive all the way back home. Needless to say our weekend was a bust. We lost money on our zipline tour and we lost our weekend. DO NOT RENT THIS CABIN WITHOUT A 4 WHEEL DRIVE!!

A group of avid birders and I took advantage of this lodge on a rather cool summer weekend…read morerecently. 9 of us attended and enjoyed the 7 bedrooms (plus loft with double beds) offered by our host Theresa. As has been noted, the lodge comes with two kitchens and two family rooms. Most everything you need is indeed included, especially a copy of Kangaroo Jack with the upstairs TV. I must have watched that fine film approximately 0-18 times in our two day stay. We never could get the 10 person hot tub up to temperature to actually use. I think the highest it got was around 90 - not exactly hot tub worthy. But this is a minor gripe as we were quite busy with our birding in the area. There is a fire pit on the side of the lodge which made for a lovely evening next to a bonfire with some beers and smores. Birders love smores, it's a known fact. The 4 bathrooms included in the lodge is nice when you have such a large group, no fighting over showers and the like. The nice decal of the scuba diver on the toilet tanks adds a pleasant diversion while you're taking a whizz. There is zero cell service, except for Sprint customers, apparently. This is kind of a bummer as nobody in the entire world has Sprint. While I suppose it may be desirable for some persons to completely disconnect from society, birders and persons of my age tend to get a little twitchy after 24 hours of no internet access. It would be delightful if the cabin had wifi. Luckily all our group arrived before darkness fell -- I wouldn't want to try to find the place in the dark. You might end up in a ditch. The owner recently had the steep gravel drive replaced partially with concrete and it's a good thing. I think several of my fellow birders would have failed to scale a gravel drive so very steep and would have been stuck doing their birding from the bottom of the drive. Another "nice to have" would be better televisions, the current models are small and difficult to see from across the large family rooms. We wanted to watch some shows on birding but found it difficult to do so and had to resort to going outside to see birds -- not ideal. Checkout is at 11:00am and I can see how it could be a scramble to get up and get everything prepped for checkout, as it is expected you have the dishwasher run and unloaded, as well as all trash taken out, I believe. Luckily birders are used to being early risers to "catch the worm", as they say. All in all we had an excellent experience just bordering on five stars. Internet service at the lodge and a more liberal checkout policy would push it firmly into 5 star territory for me. That being said, I would definitely return here for activities other than birding as well, as you are in the edges of Hocking Hills state park and there are lots of activities nearby. Kudos to our host Theresa for a fine stay and thanks to my fellow birders for such a fine weekend watching birds and Kangaroo Jack.

Here's the detailed version: The house is located in Hocking Hills and is the perfect place for a large group of people! There are 3 floors with 8 bedrooms and 11 beds. The top floor is a loft that has 2 beds. There are 4 bedrooms on the main floor- 3 that have 1 bed, and 1 room that has full sized bunk beds. On the bottom floor, there are 3 bedrooms- 2 rooms that have 1 bed and 1 room that has bunk beds. Note: all the beds are queen/full sized beds even the bunk beds so the house could potentially sleep 22 people. The house is a beautiful lodge with hardwood floors (don't forget to take slippers!). There are 2 kitchens which was a bonus when cooking for a large group! There are also 2 dining room tables (one on the main floor, one downstairs) and 2 living room spaces. The house has 4 bathrooms (2 on each floor). Note: If you go there with a lot of people, try to be one of the first to take a shower because the hot water DOES run out if everyone is taking consecutive showers. When you go, towels (including beach towels) and linens/blankets are provided. They also provide some toilet paper and soap (dish soap, shampoo, etc) which was enough for a 2 day stay but if you're staying for the whole week, you may need to bring more. In the kitchen, you can find plates, silverware, some pots and pans, cups. They have some cooking utensils like spatulas, ladles, can opener, etc. They have a coffee maker and filters but if you like fresh coffee beans, you have to bring your own coffee grinder. There are 2 TVs there which both have DVD players and direct TV but they don't have HDMI connections so you can't hook up an Xbox. There's no wi-fi and you probably won't be able to get good cell phone service while there. But they do have corn hole, scrabble, taboo and a couple decks of cards for game night! It was actually great to get away from technology i.e. internet, etc and enjoy time with the family. In order to get there, you have to drive on some country roads- some that look like they are only one lane so I recommend trying to get there before dark just because it's so hard to see when it's night time. Also on the website, they recommend 4 wheel drive which I totally agree with! You have to drive up this steep gravel/stone driveway. One of our cars was a sedan and had trouble getting up the entire way. If you don't have 4WD, you can still make it up (although if it may be a problem if it's snowing) but try driving in reverse. Our larger cars (mini SUVs/Vans that didn't have 4WD) had problems going up driving forward, but were able to make it up in reverse. Again, it's a lot easier driving up in reverse during the day than at night. The contact person is Theresa. She was quick to respond to questions we had about the place via email. I didn't really have much contact with her since someone else dealt with the reservation but she seemed nice when I met her when we checked out of the lodge.
