We rented the Gray Wolf Lodge for two nights and it truly exceeded expectations…read more Gray Wolf said it would sleep a maximum of 12, we had 10 people (6 adults and 4 teenagers) and everyone was comfortable. I had booked the lodge in December for a June stay and all arrival instructions were clearly articulated. House was very clean, furniture was comfortable, and you are about 10 minutes from Old Man's Cave. If you need something from Logan it is more of a 25-30 minute drive to a Walmart or Kroger. Also included staying here is a pool pass good for 12. I highly recommend the Gray Wolf lodge. It was a great experience in the Hocking Hills.

We arrived at Hocking Hills Saturday afternoon, hiked and hung out at the lodge. We then went to our cabin, arriving around 7:00 pm tired and ready for a campfire. But...the driveway was too steep for my SUV to climb. We attempted 4 times and gave up, there was no way my car was going to make it up the hill. We couldn't even see the cabin it was up a huge hill and around a bend. The reservation warned of a steep incline so I called the office when I made the reservation and was told that its only a problem in inclement weather - that was not true! I have a 2024 SUV, I do not have an old car that would be questionable. We couldn't get cell service to call the office so we left and drove to the nearest hotel thinking we would find somewhere else to stay. I reached a lady at Cabins by the Caves and was told we should have been able to get up the hill - her car gets up the hill with no problem and so does the cleaning ladies. Well - my car couldn't and I wasn't going to burn up the engine trying. She eventually gave me my money back and told us "never call again". We tried 4 hotels in the area, all were booked. We had no choice but to drive all the way back home. Needless to say our weekend was a bust. We lost money on our zipline tour and we lost our weekend. DO NOT RENT THIS CABIN WITHOUT A 4 WHEEL DRIVE!!

To my surprise, there was still an available time slot so I quickly booked it and waited with anticipation for our time to arrive. We checked in at the front office where we were greeted politely and were given instructions on how to get to, enter and use our sauna pod. The Pods are located right across the street from the Chalets so I was worried at first about having adequate privacy but once we entered the Pod I felt I was transported to the middle of the woods. My favorite part of the Pod was that it was Bluetooth equipped so I was able to play some folk music over the speakers to enhance my woodsy experience. Towels and bottled water are also provided for you in the Pod. We booked an hour, which I thought might be too long in the heat for me personally but after taking the recommended breaks, it didn't feel long enough. We emerged from our Pod soaking in sweat but refreshed and with every endorphin in our bodies firing. It was a fabulous experience!

Mixed Experience at Hemlock Treehouse - Stunning but Poorly Prepared for Winter…read more Hemlock Treehouse is a beautiful and unique getaway, but unfortunately, our experience was marred by poor winter preparedness and unexpected costs. While the treehouse itself was stunning, safety concerns made our stay challenging. There were no railings by the hot tub, which caused me to lose balance and fall--especially concerning in icy conditions. I slipped again on the untreated driveway the following day, as no salt had been put down. Despite reaching out multiple times with concerns about the weather, we were not allowed to cancel or reschedule. Despite our warnings, it was disappointing that no effort was made to prepare the property for winter conditions. Additionally, the pricing structure felt misleading. Beyond the daily rate, we were charged at least $200 in additional fees, including cleaning charges and insurance, despite leaving the space clean and causing no damage. We also incurred nearly $100 in taxes, bringing our one-night stay to around $850. There was no mention of a deposit beforehand, so I strongly recommend clarifying all fees before booking. Another concern was the lack of attention to detail. Upon arrival, we found a welcome sign with someone else's name, initially making us worry that the treehouse had been double-booked--an unsettling experience on our honeymoon. While it was a mistake, it indicated that our arrival had not been adequately prepared for. To add to this, the sheets had a noticeable stain, further diminishing the experience. While the location and ambiance were superb, the lack of winter preparedness and the high costs made for a frustrating experience. If you're considering a stay here in the colder months, be prepared for unsafe conditions and additional expenses. Would I return? Maybe in better weather--but certainly not in winter. Update: yep, I'm pretty sure I broke my elbow. Still hurts the same when pressure is applied to the location of the injury. Off to the doctor to verify after work.

Our vehicle lost traction and began sliding backward, which was frightening and unsafe -- especially with kids in the car. Nowhere on their website or in the booking confirmation did it say that four-wheel drive was needed to reach the cabin. Lazy Lane later tried to excuse it by saying "it's Hocking Hills," but that doesn't mean every cabin in the area requires special vehicles. Any reputable business should clearly disclose if their property isn't safely accessible by a standard car. When we called for help, the only advice we were given was to park at the bottom of the hill and carry our luggage, groceries, and children up the steep driveway in the dark -- an unacceptable and unsafe suggestion. We had no choice but to turn around and go home, completely devastated. We reached out immediately and followed up several times, but it took days to even get a response. By then, they claimed they couldn't refund us because they had already paid the cabin owner -- even though we called the same night the issue happened. That is not the customer's fault; it's a breakdown in how they handle problems. They later offered two free nights as a "good faith" gesture, but they had to be used before the end of the year. With school and work schedules, that offer was useless to us. Lazy Lane Cabins failed to take responsibility, communicate effectively, or provide any meaningful resolution. Their dismissive attitude and lack of customer care were shocking. If you're thinking about booking with them, don't. The cabins may be inaccessible, and if something goes wrong, you'll be left on your own with no help and no refund.

We booked the Oak Hollow cabin and drove several hours with our children, only to find that the steep gravel driveway was impassable for a minivan. After multiple attempts, we began sliding backwards down the hill -- it was unsafe and terrifying to my kids in the car. Nowhere on the website or in the reservation details did it say that four-wheel drive was required to reach the cabin. And while the company later tried to argue that "it's Hocking Hills" so guests should expect steep roads, that is not a reasonable excuse. Many rentals in the area are fully accessible by standard vehicles. A business renting cabins in the hills should clearly disclose when a property can't be safely accessed without 4-wheel drive. When we called their after-hours number that night, the only suggestion was to park at the bottom of the drive and hike our luggage, groceries, and small children up a steep, unlit gravel path -- completely unrealistic and unsafe. We had no choice but to turn around and drive home, ruining our long-anticipated weekend and wasting hundreds of dollars in groceries and gas. We contacted Lazy Lane immediately and followed all of their instructions, but they were unresponsive for days. By the time they finally replied, they said they couldn't refund us because they had already paid the cabin owner -- even though we notified them the night of the issue. That's not the customer's fault; it's a failure of their business process. They later offered two free nights as a "good faith" gesture, but only if used before the end of the year. That offer was useless to us since our kids are back in school and our vacation time is gone. We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but Lazy Lane still refused to issue a refund and continued to insist that the problem was ours. Lazy Lane Cabins completely failed to take responsibility for their lack of disclosure and their poor handling of this situation. Their customer service was dismissive and slow, and their "solution" was impractical. If you're considering booking with them, be warned: the cabins may not be accessible without four-wheel drive, the listings do not make that clear, and if you encounter any problems, you're unlikely to get any help or refund.

It was just built in 2011, so I guess people just haven't gotten around to writing up their stays yet. The place was absolutely perfect for our needs. It was easy to book online (yay! no phone calls!), and easy to find. We really appreciated the hassle-free check-in and check-out process. The driveway is steep, but doable without 4WD in the summer (perhaps not in the winter). It's very secluded. We could hear cars on the road and voices at nearby properties, but we couldn't see anyone. The cabin is gorgeous, and the owners have thought of everything you might need. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cookware and small appliances (toaster, coffee maker, blender). They even provide detergent for the washing machine and dishwasher, roasting sticks for the fire pit, cooking spray for the grill, plenty of firewood, extra extension cord, and flashlights. I did read in the guest book that a few visitors experienced power outages, so maybe that's the reason for the flashlights. I can't comment on how responsive the owners are to maintenance issues because we had zero problems during our stay. We were only there for 2 nights, but we definitely want to go back. I would love to stay longer. I probably won't even bother to look at other lodging options if we ever decide to stay in the Hocking Hills area again.
