It feels completely off the grid and it's the perfect place to relax and unwind. We were planning on going hiking at Hocking Hills, but there's so much to do around the property, we decided to stay put. We loved grilling out, sitting by the firepit, playing basketball, sitting on the front porch overlooking the nature preserve, hanging out in the hot tub, and relaxing with the very friendly cats that reside on the property (if you're an animal lover, they're really hard not to grow very fond of after a couple days!). We were especially impressed with the cleanliness of the cabin and how little bugs we saw for it being in the middle of the woods. WiFi worked really well, too. Cell phone service (as can be expected) was very spotty for us on different parts of the property. WiFi definitely helped, but phone calls or regular texts were a bit tricky (especially inside the cabin!). But a trip like this is supposed to be to put the iPhones down anyway, right? :) We'd really love to come back in the winter and enjoy it again in the snow!

The cabin was absolutely perfect for our needs- so much space, incredibly well-stocked kitchen, extensive bathroom amenities, games, etc. Our 17yo nephew and 13yo niece, when entering the lower level for the first, took one look at the shuffleboard table and said what the heck is THAT?! 30 mins later they had a raging tournament underway. We're a big gaming (both board and video) family and many times there were 3 or 4 separate games going on in the house with no one crowded or even sharing a space unless they wanted to. And of course the hot tub, fire pit and comfy porches were huge hits. Adam was wonderfully flexible and communication was great. The cabin was fairly secluded, but not too far from shopping... It's in a back road, and though there were some other dwellings nearby, we never felt intruded upon or otherwise near anyone else (note: we were there in late winter, so the trees were bare... In the late spring/summer/fall, this wouldn't be a factor). The cabin itself was FLAWLESSLY maintained and equipped... We had plenty of firewood, propane, toilet paper, dishes, utensils, etc. Everything was clean and in it's place... The kitchen, bathroom, outdoor propane grill, and hot tub were immaculate... Decor was just what it should be; log cabin charming... Our cell phones had no service, but internet and satellite TV worked reliably... Even had a blue-ray player and a small but adequate sound-system that we could hear on the back porch while having a romantic dinner al fresco... Clean and functional bathroom with shower, bath, modern toilet, large capacity hot water tank, first aid kit, plunger, vacuum, etc... Seriously, better equipped than even your better motor lodges.. There are even some personal touches/fun games that the proprietors play with their guests, if you wish to participate (Just make sure to read the guest book/literature that is left for you!) :-) A day spa, this is not.. But for a TRUE quaint, "home-away-from-home," it is... We WILL be back, and WILL recommend to friends... Well done!!!

You are just a short drive away from an abundance of gorgeous hiking trails. Being able to enjoy the hot-tub on the porch while being surrounded by forrest sounds and gorgeous views was just the reset we needed. My only true negative was that the mattress was extremely uncomfortable. I do think there are a few minor things that could make this cabin even better. (From a picky convenience point) -the couch is less for lounging and more for sitting up (like a waiting room) a soft ottoman would really improve the ability for couples to cuddle by the fire. -there are no couch side tables to set drinks on -the shower is SMALL (which is to be expected in a tiny cabin) if you added a shower head that can come down it would make it much easier to wash off mud from hiking because maneuvering in that tiny space is nearly impossible. - some sort of shelf/counter space for the bathroom that way if you are staying longer you can keep your necessities stored in there.

High Rock Hideaways is centrally located in the Hocking Hills area of Ohio and is super close to a lot of Hocking Hills State Park's best attractions! We ended up staying in the Yesteryear Cabin on the property and it was the perfect size for two people. (See photos below) My favorite part about this cabin was the wraparound porch and the hot tub in the back. Though we didn't get to use the porch as much as I would have liked because it was super cold outside, the view was still great through the sliding glass doors. I was a bit nervous about bed bugs from reading the past reviews, but we checked the bed before sleeping on it the first night and it was squeaky clean! No problems there. One of the best parts of this cabin was actually the grounds that it is located on! It's easy to overlook the High Rock trails for the ones in the state park, but this is a HUGE mistake. We almost skipped out on them and I'm so glad we didn't! The trails snake over the few acres of land that is the High Rock property and are basically deserted except for a few deer running around. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere with no one around for miles. It was awesome! I cannot wait to visit here again and try out the other cabins in the future. If you're looking for a quick weekend getaway in Hocking Hills, this is the spot! Pro-Tip: No matter how tired you are from hiking the Hocking Hills State Park trails, don't neglect to try the trails on the High Rock property! You won't regret it!

Plenty of dishes, towels etc. I highly recommend you come here during the winter - it's very cozy. Also.. no mosquitoes. The nearby hikes were great as well. In addition to the State Park, this private property offers their own hikes. Go check them out if you have time.
