Having had a fabulous experience with the Chalets in Hocking Hills in the past, I decided to give them another go to celebrate my birthday for a few days in February. I booked online and the process was really easy. I got reminder emails, a welcome message when it was time to check-in and everything was contactless when I arrived. While I spent a good amount of time outside of my cabin (Laurelwood), I also spent a good amount of time there. It snowed a lot so I soaked up the giant window views, enjoyed the hot tub, and lots of relaxing. My only big complaint was that of the cabin itself. I couldn't figure out what it was but the entire building was just loud. Like so loud, I couldn't sleep. Had I known, I would have brought ear plugs and trust me, I have them thanks to living in the city. Despite not being able to sleep my two nights there, and constant loud ass humming all throughout, the rest of the experience was solid. The space was comfy, included all the necessities, and they even plowed the driveway after the snow. I love coming here and the Chalets are a great choice. I just might ask about the sound issues on my next visit.

Sauna Pod 2

We rented Sauna Pod 2. The front desk was really accommodating at check-in. They provide a water for each person and a towel. The Bluetooth connection in the sauna pod was really nice, and there was Wi-Fi. Definitely would recommend this experience for a group. Only note for sauna pod team would be to add privacy curtains. The area is pretty secluded so not a big deal.

The chalets are perfect for a small family staying for a weekend trip. They come fully equipped but I do suggest bringing extra blankets and pillows. There are no dressers or nightstands in the bedrooms. Also please note the loft is not private, best for teens. We enjoyed the four person hot tub and the scenic view. Just outside Hocking Hill State Park with several trails nearby. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a convenience and ice cream store next-door if you forgot anything.

To be clear, this review is only for the Sauna Pods! My boyfriend and I rented one of the sauna pods for two hours for Valentine's Day and it turned out to be a great idea! The sauna pods are very affordable and a great way to relax at the end of a long day of hiking. My favorite feature of the sauna pods was the Bluetooth capabilities that allowed you to jam to your favorite music while hanging out in the sauna part of the pod. The view within the pod is also great as the way that they are positioned allows you to see little to none of the cabins surrounding you. My only drawback here is that, with two hours in the sauna, there is no bathroom around if you aren't staying on the property! With all the water you're consuming to stay hydrated while in the sauna, this would be nice to have. Pro-Tip: Make sure to use the bathroom right beforehand!

So, SAUNA PODS are a thing, THE thing if you ask me, and they are now available courtesty of Chalets at Hocking Hills! Here's the scoop... 1. You aren't required to rent their lodging to reserve a pod 2. Several rental options exist: 1 hour, 2 hour or 24 hour access 3. Currently there are only 2 pods, but each would hold up to 4 each comfortably. 4. The fish-eye window provides a SPECTACULAR view 5. Each person will be provided with a towel & bottle of water to stay hydrated. 6. There is a mini dressing area that has benches on each side to make changing easy & allows for you to safely secure your belongings. 7. You can use Bluetooth to stream music over the speakers in the sauna. 8. One of the benches in the sauna pulls up into a lounge chair style. 9. Pro-tip: drizzle water over the sauna rocks to warm things up We drove in from Columbus to rent one for an hour, just to scope it out. We both immediately said that this is something that we will do again & again. So relaxing & a wonderful way to get some much needed relaxation.

We stayed back in September, I noticed I forgot to post my review! This was perfect for a Covid safe getaway! The A Frame was clean and cozy. Hot tub was great! We were called an hour before check-in to say that the cabin was already cleaned and ready for us ahead of time! We didn't have to go to the office, they emailed us the key code. The cabin was close to Old Mans Cave and other trails! This was a great way to get outside, have a nice place to stay, and break from the covid fatigue but still stay safe!

We rented a sauna pod for two hours over Valentine's Day weekend. Thankfully it was winter time and about 10 degrees outside - not sure how you do this in the middle of summer! I recommend the two hour session - bring plenty of water, not too much alcohol, and a customized music playlist so you can connect to Bluetooth. It's a little pricey but it's extremely relaxing after a long, cold day of hiking.

The staff at check in were wonderful and friendly. We didn't stay in the chalet but we rented a sauna pod. The experience was fantastic and would recommend to anyone. I loved it, but my wife said her insides were on fire . She loved the small changing area when the door was open. Haha

This is a bed bug we found on the bed we were sleeping in. We didn't know until my boyfriend woke up itching with close to 20 bites on him.

WARNING!!! BED BUGS!! We stayed at A -Frame 16 and woke up at 3am itching filled with bites. It was my 40th birthday and we both took time off our businesses to celebrate it, and it was ruined! The owner only reimbursed us for our stay, but not one apology or response to our email. We were polite in explaining our experience, but nothing back. It's one thing to have a horrible bed bug experience, but not get any sympathy or even one response from the owner was disappointing and made it worse. Do not stay here- they do not care about their properties or their customers.

Would not stay here again…read more When we arrived the hot tub was open. I am assuming it was open for at least a week, as that was the last time they had a booking. Strong winds caused us to be without power for almost 24 hours. Company suggestion was for us to checkout (with no refund). I was told a manager / owner would contact me the following Monday which never happened. No refund given. Lots of trash on-site that needs to be picked up as well. Looks like guests are just throwing things off the deck.

Newer LG appliances (filtered water & ice maker in the fridge was a plus), cool bathroom, cozy oversized chair, great fireplace on rear covered deck and amazing rockers w/cup holders on front and rear porches. Now upon opening the door, the first thing I said was, "WOW! That's a weird smell." Unfortunately, we were smelling sewer smells the entire time we were there. I contacted the email from the site the first night and they responded the next day. While I was in the bathroom tub (shades open) a gentleman put his ladder on the side of the bathroom window and started climbing up, while someone chatted with my husband at the door. Needless to say I was mortified and embarrassed that we weren't initially made aware that someone was coming until after they had arrived. The person climbing the ladder definitely got an eye full.....Anyway, they said the vent pipes weren't removed once the cabins construction was done and the traps may have gotten dry. We heard them sawing something & then they left soon after. We ran water, as instructed after they cut the tops off the pipes and were advised Joey would be back with a top to cover another pipe on the roof. The smell initially got a little better, but within a couple hours it was back full force. We again contacted Rob again, who sent Joey back out to address the issue. This time, he put bleach down the drains, gave a can of fabreeze, a pumpkin candle and 2 renuzit toilet scents. Now, we had been burning candles in all the rooms from the moment we arrived and kept the front & rear doors open to try and air out the smell. NONE of that helped. It even began to stink outside, so no handing out on the front or rear porch unless we needed cell signal. So although the thought was nice, 1 single wick candle, 1 can of fabreeze and some toilet scents were NOT going to cut it. The smell was not as strong after the bleach, but never did go away. In fact, when we ran the dishwasher before leaving, the smell returned full force throughout the cabin, especially in the bathroom and rear porch area. THE SMELL ALONE RUINED OUR ATTEMPTED ROMANTIC GETAWAY. While I appreciate them trying to solve this issue, there wasn't any follow-up to confirm resolution. I had to keep updating Rob. At least Rob did say he was "sorry it's doing what it's doing" regarding the odor. Honestly, I cannot begin to explain to you how utterly disgusting it is to constantly smell sewage inside and in the immediate surrounding exterior of one's "luxury retreat." Not once in the decade plus of coming to HH have we EVER had this happen......we've stayed with MANY companies, but this is a first. Lastly a few things could have been done better. When we arrived, it would have been nice if the front and rear covered decks were swept. There was a lot of dead bugs, leaves & bottle caps from alcohol (ppl before us) laying around on the decks. I swept that up myself, not a deal breaker. There were excessive dead bugs on the living room floor - I also swept up, not a deal breaker we're in the woods. The issue is that it made me question how clean the cabin actually was. Therefore, I took it upon myself to clean the cabin with the products I'd brought to be sure. The hot tub, while up to temp at 102 degrees had brownish grey water and looked filthy. VERY UNINVITING, especially when the pool chemicals were neatly portioned out and could have been dumped into the tub when it was prepped for the next guest. I get that the water may be discolored from minerals, but this was just a dirty hot tub. I make that assumption as when we took off the lid, there wasn't even the faintest hint of chemicals from the water (which one can usually smell when they've been added) upon removal of the lid. Overall, we wanted to love this cabin, but didn't. The constant, horrendous sewer smell was a deal breaker and for the cost, I NEVER EVER expected to have an unresolved odor issue continue

The cabin was fairly secluded, but not too far from shopping... It's in a back road, and though there were some other dwellings nearby, we never felt intruded upon or otherwise near anyone else (note: we were there in late winter, so the trees were bare... In the late spring/summer/fall, this wouldn't be a factor). The cabin itself was FLAWLESSLY maintained and equipped... We had plenty of firewood, propane, toilet paper, dishes, utensils, etc. Everything was clean and in it's place... The kitchen, bathroom, outdoor propane grill, and hot tub were immaculate... Decor was just what it should be; log cabin charming... Our cell phones had no service, but internet and satellite TV worked reliably... Even had a blue-ray player and a small but adequate sound-system that we could hear on the back porch while having a romantic dinner al fresco... Clean and functional bathroom with shower, bath, modern toilet, large capacity hot water tank, first aid kit, plunger, vacuum, etc... Seriously, better equipped than even your better motor lodges.. There are even some personal touches/fun games that the proprietors play with their guests, if you wish to participate (Just make sure to read the guest book/literature that is left for you!) :-) A day spa, this is not.. But for a TRUE quaint, "home-away-from-home," it is... We WILL be back, and WILL recommend to friends... Well done!!!

I had booked the lodge in December for a June stay and all arrival instructions were clearly articulated. We arrived at Hocking Hills Saturday afternoon, hiked and hung out at the lodge. We then went to our cabin, arriving around 7:00 pm tired and ready for a campfire. But...the driveway was too steep for my SUV to climb. We attempted 4 times and gave up, there was no way my car was going to make it up the hill. We couldn't even see the cabin it was up a huge hill and around a bend. The reservation warned of a steep incline so I called the office when I made the reservation and was told that its only a problem in inclement weather - that was not true! I have a 2024 SUV, I do not have an old car that would be questionable. We couldn't get cell service to call the office so we left and drove to the nearest hotel thinking we would find somewhere else to stay. I reached a lady at Cabins by the Caves and was told we should have been able to get up the hill - her car gets up the hill with no problem and so does the cleaning ladies. Well - my car couldn't and I wasn't going to burn up the engine trying. She eventually gave me my money back and told us "never call again". We tried 4 hotels in the area, all were booked. We had no choice but to drive all the way back home. Needless to say our weekend was a bust. We lost money on our zipline tour and we lost our weekend. DO NOT RENT THIS CABIN WITHOUT A 4 WHEEL DRIVE!!
