Dave and Joy take such pride in their cabin rentals and it can be seen in all of the meticulous details from the furnishing, décor and all of the amenities. They have thought of everything for you! We were so excited to disconnect for a few days and the Cardinal was just the place to allow us to do so. We watched movies, which they provided, as well as some that we brought with us. We enjoyed the hot tub on numerous occasions, as well as the screened in porch in general. My favorite memory was our last evening where we sat on the front porch swing for a couple of hours while it rained/stormed. It was such a refreshing time and a much needed escape to reconnect with each other and disconnect from the outside world. We can't wait to come back again and stay at the "Blue Jay". Thank you for making our weekend and anniversary so special. Your excitement and pride for what you do shines through and it was a pleasure to experience it for ourselves. Thank you!

The large front porch and swing were also very nice. There is no cable or phone reception, which was a positive for me. There is a tv, DVD player, and radio. The owners have provided a few dvds but you may want to bring your own if you're picky about your movies. The owners also provided a few board games. We chose to pass the time in the hot tub and playing scrabble. It was a great weekend.

A grill (2 actually but we only used the one in the patio) a heated splash pool the kids loved. Four bedrooms plus a loft with a pull out couch. Perfect for a married couple and 3 kids. Our daughter fell in love with the loft so we had a spare bedroom that wasn't used. Great kitchen and bathrooms. Plus a little boat house with a fire pit we used to make s'mores. We also used the outdoor fireplace to watch an nba playoff game while the kids were in the splash pool.

We stayed at the Lake House for four nights. The house deserves an award from Architectural Digest. it's simply indescribable how well appointed this house is. I've attached some pics that I think captures the essence of this jewel. The house was clean with lots of extras. The plunge pool is like an oversized hot tub that's over five feet deep. The staff was very attentive and met our every need. We decided to buy two robes since we forgot ours. We texted the office and they delivered them within minutes. The robes were top of the line bath robes that kept us warm on cool nights after soaking in the hot tub. Best robe i've ever owned. We ordered the Italian Night dinner which was in the refrigerator when we arrived with heating instructions. It was a delicious lasagna with a tossed salad and Tiramisu for dessert. Best Tiramisu i've ever had. Wish we had ordered other meals. We loved the outdoor fireplace with a TV under a covered area adjacent to the plunge pool. We made and ate s'mores while watching tv in front of roaring fire. We have stayed in many high end resorts and this retreat was the best we've ever stayed at. It's also a good value. We paid more at other resorts that didn't come close to the luxury we found here.

The cabin was fairly secluded, but not too far from shopping... It's in a back road, and though there were some other dwellings nearby, we never felt intruded upon or otherwise near anyone else (note: we were there in late winter, so the trees were bare... In the late spring/summer/fall, this wouldn't be a factor). The cabin itself was FLAWLESSLY maintained and equipped... We had plenty of firewood, propane, toilet paper, dishes, utensils, etc. Everything was clean and in it's place... The kitchen, bathroom, outdoor propane grill, and hot tub were immaculate... Decor was just what it should be; log cabin charming... Our cell phones had no service, but internet and satellite TV worked reliably... Even had a blue-ray player and a small but adequate sound-system that we could hear on the back porch while having a romantic dinner al fresco... Clean and functional bathroom with shower, bath, modern toilet, large capacity hot water tank, first aid kit, plunger, vacuum, etc... Seriously, better equipped than even your better motor lodges.. There are even some personal touches/fun games that the proprietors play with their guests, if you wish to participate (Just make sure to read the guest book/literature that is left for you!) :-) A day spa, this is not.. But for a TRUE quaint, "home-away-from-home," it is... We WILL be back, and WILL recommend to friends... Well done!!!

We spoke with the owners a couple of times during our stay and they were great as well! We will definitely be back! I can't think of any reason to stay anywhere else!

We rented the Gray Wolf Lodge for two nights and it truly exceeded expectations…read more Gray Wolf said it would sleep a maximum of 12, we had 10 people (6 adults and 4 teenagers) and everyone was comfortable. I had booked the lodge in December for a June stay and all arrival instructions were clearly articulated. House was very clean, furniture was comfortable, and you are about 10 minutes from Old Man's Cave. If you need something from Logan it is more of a 25-30 minute drive to a Walmart or Kroger. Also included staying here is a pool pass good for 12. I highly recommend the Gray Wolf lodge. It was a great experience in the Hocking Hills.

We arrived at Hocking Hills Saturday afternoon, hiked and hung out at the lodge. We then went to our cabin, arriving around 7:00 pm tired and ready for a campfire. But...the driveway was too steep for my SUV to climb. We attempted 4 times and gave up, there was no way my car was going to make it up the hill. We couldn't even see the cabin it was up a huge hill and around a bend. The reservation warned of a steep incline so I called the office when I made the reservation and was told that its only a problem in inclement weather - that was not true! I have a 2024 SUV, I do not have an old car that would be questionable. We couldn't get cell service to call the office so we left and drove to the nearest hotel thinking we would find somewhere else to stay. I reached a lady at Cabins by the Caves and was told we should have been able to get up the hill - her car gets up the hill with no problem and so does the cleaning ladies. Well - my car couldn't and I wasn't going to burn up the engine trying. She eventually gave me my money back and told us "never call again". We tried 4 hotels in the area, all were booked. We had no choice but to drive all the way back home. Needless to say our weekend was a bust. We lost money on our zipline tour and we lost our weekend. DO NOT RENT THIS CABIN WITHOUT A 4 WHEEL DRIVE!!

Would not stay here again…read more When we arrived the hot tub was open. I am assuming it was open for at least a week, as that was the last time they had a booking. Strong winds caused us to be without power for almost 24 hours. Company suggestion was for us to checkout (with no refund). Newer LG appliances (filtered water & ice maker in the fridge was a plus), cool bathroom, cozy oversized chair, great fireplace on rear covered deck and amazing rockers w/cup holders on front and rear porches. Now upon opening the door, the first thing I said was, "WOW! That's a weird smell." Unfortunately, we were smelling sewer smells the entire time we were there. I contacted the email from the site the first night and they responded the next day. While I was in the bathroom tub (shades open) a gentleman put his ladder on the side of the bathroom window and started climbing up, while someone chatted with my husband at the door. Needless to say I was mortified and embarrassed that we weren't initially made aware that someone was coming until after they had arrived. The person climbing the ladder definitely got an eye full.....Anyway, they said the vent pipes weren't removed once the cabins construction was done and the traps may have gotten dry. We heard them sawing something & then they left soon after. We ran water, as instructed after they cut the tops off the pipes and were advised Joey would be back with a top to cover another pipe on the roof. The smell initially got a little better, but within a couple hours it was back full force. We again contacted Rob again, who sent Joey back out to address the issue. This time, he put bleach down the drains, gave a can of fabreeze, a pumpkin candle and 2 renuzit toilet scents. Now, we had been burning candles in all the rooms from the moment we arrived and kept the front & rear doors open to try and air out the smell. NONE of that helped. It even began to stink outside, so no handing out on the front or rear porch unless we needed cell signal. So although the thought was nice, 1 single wick candle, 1 can of fabreeze and some toilet scents were NOT going to cut it. The smell was not as strong after the bleach, but never did go away. In fact, when we ran the dishwasher before leaving, the smell returned full force throughout the cabin, especially in the bathroom and rear porch area. THE SMELL ALONE RUINED OUR ATTEMPTED ROMANTIC GETAWAY. While I appreciate them trying to solve this issue, there wasn't any follow-up to confirm resolution. I had to keep updating Rob. At least Rob did say he was "sorry it's doing what it's doing" regarding the odor. Honestly, I cannot begin to explain to you how utterly disgusting it is to constantly smell sewage inside and in the immediate surrounding exterior of one's "luxury retreat." Not once in the decade plus of coming to HH have we EVER had this happen......we've stayed with MANY companies, but this is a first. Lastly a few things could have been done better. When we arrived, it would have been nice if the front and rear covered decks were swept. There was a lot of dead bugs, leaves & bottle caps from alcohol (ppl before us) laying around on the decks. I swept that up myself, not a deal breaker. There were excessive dead bugs on the living room floor - I also swept up, not a deal breaker we're in the woods. The issue is that it made me question how clean the cabin actually was. Therefore, I took it upon myself to clean the cabin with the products I'd brought to be sure. The hot tub, while up to temp at 102 degrees had brownish grey water and looked filthy. VERY UNINVITING, especially when the pool chemicals were neatly portioned out and could have been dumped into the tub when it was prepped for the next guest. I get that the water may be discolored from minerals, but this was just a dirty hot tub. I make that assumption as when we took off the lid, there wasn't even the faintest hint of chemicals from the water (which one can usually smell when they've been added) upon removal of the lid. Overall, we wanted to love this cabin, but didn't. The constant, horrendous sewer smell was a deal breaker and for the cost, I NEVER EVER expected to have an unresolved odor issue continue
