It's my favorite pastime. Ascend massage is located on the second floor of a commercial building -- it's no frills, but it's fine. The star is the massage itself. Make sure you like it deep because that's Petar's specialty. He's fantastic. When I booked, he made mention that he was the best in the area, and I was like hmm, ok, we'll see... but I can easily see how that could actually be true. I always treat myself with a massage after completing a huge project, or just feeling stressed, and am I glad I found Ascend Massage. I made an appointment online. The online system is easy to use, you choose what type of massage you are looking for, what length, and voila - you are booked. It took less than 3 minutes for me. The place itself is near Dupont Circle metro so I would highly recommend it if traveling on the red line is easy for you and or if you are working nearby. I will say the place is not immediately visible so if it's your first time, make sure to give yourself like extra 5 minutes to find the place. The ambiance of the place was nice, clean, and relaxing. Onto the massage itself -- Wonderful Swedish massage experience with Petar overall! I usually get a Swedish massage because I have low pain tolerance (but they do also offer deep tissue, sports massage...etc for those looking for something that's a bit more intense). Petar was very friendly and professional, with a hint of humor as well. He checked in with me and asked me if there are any areas he should focus on and what type of pressure I prefer both before and during the massage. Throughout the massage, I fell asleep multiple times and felt rejuvenated afterward. He was able to find my knots and work them progressively without inflicting pain on me, which I truly appreciate in a massage therapist. The massage ended with a hot towel to freshen you up. Came down a week ago after reading some of the good reviews. The place is hard to find. Once I found it I went inside and there was nobody to check me in. I tried to make a reservation beforehand online but it asked for a credit card which I did not have on me(I was with my cellphone working out and did not have my wallet on me). When I showed up there was nobody for 10 minutes. I called the phone number only to go to voicemail. I could not wait any longer since I had a hard stop at work that I had to attend. I would not come to this studio if you value your time. Seems that they do not staff their front desk even though they were open. read more
