I hired ASAP ZLocksmith to adjust a door lock & strike plate on my front door. My lock was a keyless entry using a code on a keypad. He said he couldn't adjust it and wanted to replace it. My door lock, Schlage cist $109. He charged me to replace the deadbolt & door nob. In addition he drilled a hole in the door frame in my entry door from the garage to the house. The cost was $600 which the was outrageous! I made the decision fir him to do the work because I had been discharged from the hospital on June 6th, 2025 & would be doing Physical Therapy at hone with home Healthcare. H did the work on 6/15/2025, not my preferred day. I ma able to get up and down the stoes * able to move about the house now. I visually checked his work at the garage entry door and found he only drilled a hole in the door from without installing a strike plate for the deadbolt. Posting this in case the manager decides to avoid speaking with me, in hopes this will go away. One part of the service was done ethically and I agreed to, the other part not at all. I called their services in hopes to be let in to my apartment, I understood the pricing of $100+ to get the lock drilled and the door opened. This was done fast, everything was explained, and I was thankful for the services. I was so exhausted after waiting and freezing outside, I said thank you and goodbye. I passed out in my own room. The next thing I know I'm being abruptly woken up to knocking outside my room and the service person showing me the new lock/key he installed on my door. I'm literally a young woman sleeping ALONE inside my home and unaware that there is someone that went into my house. They went into every room of my apartment looking for me, so my roommates felt their personal space was violated. This is in addition to the $160 I paid to be let into my apartment. $275 for a job that took a few seconds? That is a rip off! We also had to wait for about 40 minutes. That is taking advantage! When I called I asked how much do they charge for the job, both the first person who took my call and the person who returned my call (the person who came to do the job) both told me that it depends on how difficult the job is. Well, the job was not difficult obviously, taking only few seconds. I did not lock the dead bolt; yet, he still charged me a whopping $275. I am a single mom and I work hard for every penny that I earn. These people don't have consideration and don't care about the families that they rip off. The person even asked for Venmo or Cash, maybe avoiding to pay taxes. People beware, they don't tell you how much they charge, so they can charge you as much as they want when the job is already done and you have no choice anymore. I definitely have work to do on reporting this type of business to lawmakers and regulators. Lawmakers should have a law for this type of business that regulates what they can charge customers for such a job that takes only seconds to do. I'm not sure if they have done a good job or not but what I do find upsetting is that they never bothered to get back to us. I was charged $600 which seems a bit much. It seemed to have been a complicated case and the locksmith had to add metal plates on the door. I asked him if we would be able to paint them so they match the color of the door and he said yes. I tried priming and painting it but the paint would peel of easily. We asked the locksmith for advice (and if the metal plates were really necessary since they make our door look a but rugged) multiple times and he never got back to us. If he only bothered to reply or even better come by and quickly check out the work of his locksmiths, we would have nothing to complain about. read more

I was locked out of my apartment near Culver City around 8 p.m. and called after looking at their pricing on their website https://asaplocksmithla.com/locksmith-rates/ The website lists residential lockouts cost from $75 to $150 for more complex locks. The technican was there for probably 5-10 minutes at most and then charged me $320. I asked why and he said my lock was complex. I told him the website said the most I'd be charged for the lock was $150 and he said that was wrong and said it was $320 and he was actually giving me a discount because he was supposed to charge me $380. That is absolutely insane. He then gave me his personal info if I needed help with any lockout services so I wouldn't have to go through the company, which felt a little sketchy after just being duped into paying more than DOUBLE what was quoted online. read more

HUSTLERS Was locked out of my apartment. Called them and they quoted me $60 and shared the guy would be there "any second." He showed up in 20 mins and could not get it open. They guy continued to work on the door and shared that someone one else was coming out. Took about another 30 mins for the other guy to come out. Called for a quote and Sean arrived in under 30 min, yay! I live in the same zip code ~1 mile away. My keys were stolen, so I needed a new mailbox lock and key. Note, contrary to logical assumption, USPS doesn't have anything to do with mailboxes. When your landlord can't find a spare key to your mailbox (which was my situation), your only choice is to call a locksmith. The quote, unfortunately, was 50% less than what I actually paid. I think the extra expense was due to the fact my lock had to be drilled out vs. just picked and replaced. $160 covered the service call, lock and keys, and drilling out the lock. 2019 LOCK DEBACLE 190517 This writing is meant to document and define the events that transpired when I attempted to have and enjoy a functional business transaction with West Hollywood Lock, aka 24/7 Lock and ASAP Lock (could be more I don't know about). All 3 of those names were represented to me by various employees during various interactions with this company and from YELP and Google searches. On the evening of March 31, my personal set of keys for everything I own disappeared. Some keys were irreplaceable. I believe them to be stolen since they never turned up since then. This left me in a very insure position since I have a studio full of recording equipment in my home and many possessions I have accumulated over my life in CA since moving here from Detroit in 1975. The next morning was April 1, 2019. That morning I researched my address book and online for a reputable locksmith to change the keys for my many locks on my property's numerous iron security doors. I have keyed dead bolts on all doors; 3 doors on front porch, a side stoop loading porch, a carport entry, a studio sliding iron door, a studio control room, a pool shower door, and rear house iron French door. With the exception of the pool shower, that's 8 doors and times X2 that equals 16 set of tumblers to possibly potentially be changed. I found a vendor claiming an address to be 7333 Fountain in West Hollywood called "West Hollywood Locksmith" and was told there would be a technician fee and per lock charges to be determined when the technician assesses the situation - most likely $30 per lock key side. This was going to be an expensive job. A young Israeli gentleman showed up who used the name "Ray" (his Hebrew name was too hard to pronounce). Very polite and nice man. Ray said the charge would be $30 per lock key side, so I, after calculating the costs,- decided to only have him re key the locks on the outside locks to save money. He worked nearly half the day rekeying these locks on a table on my back patio. After he was done I inspected the work and paid him via my VISA $310.20 thru SQUARE on his phone and gave him a $40 tip and wrote him and his company a 5 star YELP review to boot! (A Danny A., who said he was the business owner thanked me in reply to my YELP review.) What a fool I was! Fact is, the locks only "seemed" to all be re-done/re-keyed professionally. Unfortunately this was not the case. Little did I know that all of the outside Kwikset type locks on my home (front porch and side stoop) could be opened with any key - not just my new key but my old key - in fact ANY Kwikset key it turns out! I discovered this on Thursday, May 9, 2019 around noon when I returned home from a work related breakfast in Burbank and upon entering my side porch/stoop loading door that my old key when half inserted opened the lock! NOT GOOD. Eventually and again to be clear, that day I discovered that this same issue existed on all of the outside locks (3) on my front porch were also not performing correctly. I immediately attempted to call "West Hollywood Locksmith" each day for the following 9 days but was given the run around about getting someone out to handle the situation. Spoke to a Samantha, Victoria and other ladies obviously at a call center who made several calls to some unknown to me owner/supervisor on my behalf. This always led to being told I'd be getting a call back in 5 to 20 minutes from someone or they would be sending out someone but no call backs ever came. About 4 or 5 days in of the avoidance tactics I lost my temper and the girl hung up on me. I did not use profanity. I called back and continued to get avoided by other call center employees. Finally, after 9 days of waiting around for calls to be returned, I tried to reason with Samantha to put herself in my position and she finally sent a technician named Nate M. to "assess the situation" but explained to me that I would have to pay for the service call. At this point, I agreed, knowing that this would be the only way that they would be willing to get over here to fix what had not been done right the first time by Ray. I had no intention of ever paying them. I already had a case started against the charges on my Visa started with Well Fargo Bank in place. Nate arrived and managed to fix the 4 locks in less than an hour. He did a fine job and showed me how there were no tumblers in the locks at all and no springs. He was baffled as to how Ray could have done such a thing and charged me for work that had not been done. Worse of all, I thought, that the Lock company left my house vulnerable to an easy break-in to anyone with a Kwikset key -any key- which unbeknownst to me was for 6 weeks of vulnerability! This was criminal to me and I was appalled that they chose to try to charge me for fixing a dysfunctional situation and I now continue to refuse to be victimized financially by this company or any representative of this company. read more

Appears this Co. is just a listing agent for anyone that wants to call themselves a locksmith. First, they quote you one price and then the locksmith that comes out changes the price to almost double ... said it was bigger job than quoted. When you call, the rep is very helpful and nice. The locksmith they sent to rekey 3 houses I just bought spoke English poorly, was rood and incompetent. He literally couldn't rekey 2 locks. I had Acme key out and they rekeyed/fixed this botched job easily. ASAP "locksmith" and I walked around testing all / about 15 locks after he said they all worked great with the master key and individual key for each house and the laundry room except for 2 he couldn't do. On testing, I found numerous keys didn't work and he redid those except 2 he couldn't and gave up on (these are all brand new locks) ... after telling me they were all done. He leaves and the next day several keys don't work the locks they did the day before ... or at least I thought we tested them all. I call back, am told I have to have same locksmith out. Can't reach him .. eventually he returns and fixes? ... two days later they don't work ... back out a 3rd time ... again they work for a few days and stop. These were all brand new locks on new construction and not Home Depot locks. I gave up on this incompetent poor English speaking guy and called Acme Key. They came right out and fixed and/or redid all the locks that didn't work and everything has worked perfectly since, but I had to pay for the job twice. Locked myself out of my apartment door. Good thing I had everything else with me so I went ahead and searched on Yelp for a locksmith that would do home doors and found ASAP Locksmith. We were quoted $15-45 and that the technician would be here in 20 mins or less. After 40 mins (what 20 mins?) he finally came. At this point I just want the door open. The guy asked for ID to prove I own the place. Which I gave and that's that, but what if I left my ID inside? Apparently they wouldn't open the door for me. Hmm. So just a reminder that if you lock yourself out, BRING ID. Honestly, it's fine. To be safe and all right? But what if you're in an emergency? I dunno. Just saying. Anyway, he proceeds to say stuff about drilling and making me sign a receipt and I saw prices of $15, $95 and $145. I'm like "the heck is that?" And he says $15 for the call, then the two prices is whether he can pick the lock with no damage ($95) or he would have to drill to get it open ($145). Uhh not the price I was quoted. He said the $45 was for a kwikset lock but I have a schlage so it's $95. Again at this point I don't care anymore, but I feel a scam going on because I just had a normal lock. Even if it is schlage. I would discourage the use of this company. #1 I was quoted $15.00 for a service fee and got charged $59.00 #2 - The tech recommended the Schlage lock. I told him what I wanted and he graciously placed the order. #3 - I received a call that they wanted to come out to complete the installation so I scheduled the installation. #4 - a different tech comes out and has no idea I special ordered a lock and brings me 3 different locks to choose from. I don't like ether. I got a sales pitch to buy a lock I didn't want. I refused and the tech left. #5 - I received a call from the manager / owner indicating my first tech was off and he wasn't aware that I had special ordered a lock. #6 - my original tech called me and said he had my lock so we set an appt. #7 - my tech was 5 hours late. He offered me a discount and I just wanted this to be done so I authorized the install. #8 - halfway through the install he notices the opening to the deadbolt is too small and he offers to bore out my door or special order a dead bold. At this point, I just want to be done! I asked for a refund but was again denied. I decided I will have the hole bored out and he tells me he doesn't have the tool ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I begin to loose my patience and at this point, I just want to re-think this entire arrangement. #9 - I kindly ask him to please remove the new lock, put back my old lock and we will deal with this in the morning. It was now after 10pm and our original appt was between 1pm and 3pm. #10 - he only replaced the deadbolt and brought out his invoice. I repeated "I want my original locks back on". # 11 - he was having difficulty re-installing the bottom lock and was trying his best to get it back on but couldn't. After about 40 minutes of fidgeting with it, I was done! It was 11pm and I was just DONE!! So much drama over a simple lock. He left me with a dirty door and a lock that wasn't fully installed. Luckily someone else came to the complex and let me in. So now it's back to one door again right? NO, so the guy said my lock is a "smart lock" and needs to drilled so that's gonna be extra, as in double. Double just to drill a hole? Really? I can't think of another time where Yelp steered me so wrong. I was locked out and my building manager recommended a locksmith that the building uses. I went against him and trusted Yelp instead since ASAP Locksmith got such fantastic reviews. I thought I knew better by going to Yelp, but looking deeper I realized a lot of the reviews are not very genuine. The call center answers at all hours and is friendly, making you feel like you're taken care of. They say it's $15 for the locksmith call - I believe they just forward the lead to their list of locksmiths and just take a percentage for the lead. So there is no consistency in pricing. It is up to the locksmith to change "whatever they feel like." I had a price discrepancy from what my locksmith originally quoted, so I called the call center when the work was done and asked for their price sheet to make sure the price I was given was at least in range. They put me on hold for a long time and then could not give me an answer that matched the locksmith's price. I ended up having to work it out directly with my locksmith - and at 10 pm on Sunday after all my neighbors were annoyed with the drilling, I was in a tough place. In addition - I'm unsure that the locksmiths are licensed or certified. ASAP Locksmith sent me a dude who came late, couldn't find the building (google maps dude), didn't attempt to pick the lock, drilled the lock for 40 min, called a friend for advice, then just drilled my entire lock off. Had Home Depot been open - I could have done the exact same thing for the price of the drill. He also left a huge mess behind and stuck me with a $145 bill.
