Should have read the reviews before I called Eric, MY mistake, overcharging is his method of how he is conducting business. Companies charge to come out to give you an estimate, average between $45-$75 Eric is charging $95 ( not too much of a rip off) if you agree with their price they always applied it to the amount of the job. Not this company, you pay $195 for a 2 minute code change, then they add the service charge on top of it instead of to it. The technician Barac who came was knowledgeable, on time, knew what he was doing, like I said in 2 minutes had it done, was patient to show me how it works as well. He walked me through all the issues with my current locks, gave me a couple of different options and we talked through how best to customize a better lock solution based on my budget. I didn't feel pressure at all to spend money with him and I could tell he just wanted me to pick the best lock for me. There were a couple issues with my door frame and Eric cleaned it up for me and even customized on-the-spot so that everything would look nice and there was no exposed wood. Please do your research before hiring Locksmithology. I have no complaints about the advice and workmanship I received from Eric (the owner), but his prices are not competitive. I called him for home security advice and hired him to install a deadbolt and a handset on a new door. When I went online to show someone what I purchased, I was shocked to see the low prices. I then called two other locksmiths for quotes. If I had hired one of them, I would have saved between $620 to $870 with the exact same materials and labor. Eric defended his price, saying that he charged me more due to the extra labor: he had to drill into a metal frame and a solid slab door. However, a) I explained all of that to the other locksmiths, so they knew the scope of the project; b) he also charged a few hundred more for materials; and c) the holes for the deadbolt wound up being pre-cut and I decided not to go with a metal frame, so Eric did not have to drill through metal and he did not need to drill new holes for the deadbolt, yet Eric made no adjustments in his price--he still charged me the same amount for labor as his original quote. If you hire Locksmithology, know that you will get quality service but you will be paying far more than you would with other reputable locksmiths. If there wasn't such a huge price discrepancy, I would be giving Eric five stars. read more

I hate to write this review but I was straight scammed. My safe stopped working. I installed a brand new battery which was faulty/dead but didn't think to use another battery since this one was out of a brand new package. Called Locksmithology and was told it would be $95 for the service call plus $155 for the safe access. I agreed. Technician came out right away, which was great; that's my 3 star review. When the technician tested the battery, he indicated that it was dead. I gave him a new one which ended up working and was able to get into my safe. All of this took less than five minutes. I handed him $100 and he said it was $250 because he got into the safe. I am extremely bothered by the lack of character of this person. It was an honest mistake on my part but to charge $250 is ridiculous and gouging to say the least. Really left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

So, Eric comes by to initially install a "metal plate" to cover our bolt (hubby picked up a GOLD one when the unit door is DARK Slate gray....we live in a townhome).... After Eric looks at the unit, he explains to us the inefficiency of the item to be installed and offers us a different solution. We ended up getting a HUGE upgrade, and we ALSO invested in the Mul-T-Lock!!!! The efficiency of Eric and his assistant (Daniel? perhaps....longish black hair-young) was mind blowing. I thought it would take an hour or so to install the item but, 20 or so minutes later, not only do we have a new door lock but the mechanism works so smoothly I thought I wasn't locking the door the next day. Once he came out the safe didn't need re-programming after all we paid the $100 house call, which we were completely fine with.
