This company cancelled my reservation 12 hours before I was supposed to land in Dallas to see my sick aunt and attend a wedding. I booked this car in August 2020. Then when I got upset and used profanity for their total disregard for being upset, they blocked my number. I'm turning them into BBB and considering suing. I've read ASAP reviews on the BBB site. They religiously scam people out of 150 dollar deposits and won't answer angry customer complaints. I think we need to file a class action lawsuit against the company. Couldn't agree more with just about all of the 1 * reviews...lured in by crazy low price only to have a bizarre pick up and drop off process (including a Sunday drop off with no one around so we left keys in a hotel lobby and had to take an Uber back to the airport, which we were supposed to be credited for). Car had 135k miles on it, baldest tires I've ever seen, tire pressure lights came on, service light came on and we only had the thing for 3 days. $150 security deposit charged 6 weeks before pick-up...supposed to be credited back within 2 weeks of car return. I learned this after the car they provided was 13 yrs old, with 126,000 miles, filthy and smelly on the inside, windshield wipers did not work and a headlight that was out. Buyer beware! Off-site difficult to drop off early morning without shuttle. They say they reimburse for Uber (?) but I've yet to see almost a month later my deposit. AVOID ASAP Car Rentals! I rented a car from ASAP in Dallas in May 2020. Less than 2 hours after getting the car, as I was accelerating to get on the highway, the hood of the car flew up and shattered the windshield. The hood latch failed. When I called to report the incident to ASAP, they informed me that I would be responsible for towing the car. This was not an accident, but rather a mechanical failure of the hood latch and I should not have been responsible for towing the vehicle. I was stranded on the side of a very busy highway entrance ramp and they refused to send anyone to help me. The company never called me again. Short text messages were all that I got from them telling me where to tow the car. It was very unprofessional. Bottom line, this company will not take care of you as a customer, has subpar safety inspections of their vehicles and takes zero accountability. I would never recommend them to anyone. read more

I had the same experience as everyone here - it's 2 weeks past the date I was supposed to get the $200 deposit back, and I've called them soooo many times. In the end, Marcus (the ASAP Car Rental customer service agent) advised me to file a dispute with my bank (just did it). He claimed that they'd tried to refund me 3 times, but each time they got a technical error... Also, when I picked up the car from some hotel in Euless, the tank was 3/4 full, although it said in the rental contract that it was full. And I just tried to call them again to let them know that now they've woken the bear (I am going to file a complaint with every agency I can think of), and I keep getting a message that says "I'm sorry, but the number you have dialed cannot be reached from your calling area". read more

I rented from this company about 4 years ago, and everything was great. However, I took a chance again last September. The car was so-so, but I was fine with that considering the savings. Pickup and dropoff at the hotel near DFW was fine and easy too. BUT, now 4 months later l still do not have my $150 deposit refunded. Phone calls go unanswered/unreturned. Pickup from the airport. The lady was super nice. Had to wait a while because they switched cars. Ok no biggie. The car seemed decent but was a total piece. Waited for parts to fall off while driving. I'm still waiting for the return of my deposit. The car was returned over a week ago. Total jerk answered the phone. Just rent somewhere else. Like everyone else says, the quoted price seems great--in fact the cheapest one that turns up on Kayak--but they will never return your $150 deposit no matter what and will become impossible to contact after your trip is over. I won't use this company ever again!! STAY AWAY! They located outside of DFW airport. The car they prepared for me got over 120,000 miles!!! The smell of car was just horrible. I even had to buy fabreeze by myself. The car was very outdated and dirty. They changed refundable deposit $200 when I booked my car. The deposit has still been charged on my credit card after 20 days my rental complete without any damages!!! I just disputed their charge with my credit card company. Also, I took uber from return location (best western). They gave me $10 credit. The actual charge was about $13. The operator even promised me they would give me refund for my fabreeze and uber. This company is a scam and doesn't deserve 1 star. I have had a $200 refundable deposit charged to my credit card for a month, which is over 2 weeks from when I returned the car. I have called multiple times to try to get the amount removed and as soon as I mention what the call is about, I am told that the person who is answering the phone is the answering service and to call back later. They are also not at the airport and make you take an uber to and from the car rental place. I would highly recommend staying away from them. read more

I arrived early and didn't know where the place to get the car was. Had No instructions. When I asked DFW car rental places they had No Clue. Finally I was able to contact them, they charged me a fee bc although they said 24hours they weren't open. The guy Dixon was very nice that picked me up. The car was not automatic anything. I was so upset paying over $300 for 48hours for a golf cart (sarcasm) funny not funny. I should have read the reviews, they are in a run down Hilton Hotel and they nickel and dimes me for every little thing. This is NOT how you do business. Get better cars and get a location in the Airport. I don't and won't recommend this company. Never again will I use them even if they get it together first impressions are the most important. DO NOT RENT a car from ASAP car rental. This company is an absolute joke. To start out, I paid for the car 3 months in advance of our scheduled trip. It was 2 1/2 months before our scheduled rental date when I received an email stating that they were going to charge a deposit of $150. I called them and asked why on earth I was being charged a deposit 2 1/2 months before we actually rent the car. The guy on the other end which I believe was the owner didn't even listen to me and said their deposits are much less that other car rental companies. I said I wasn't concerned about the amount but why would I pay a deposit 2 1/2 months before we ever rent to car? Nothing the guy said made any sense so I just hung up our of frustration. My wife read many reviews after we rented the car saying that people never even get their deposits back!!! Our flight was delayed for 3 hours so we got into Dallas around midnight. We were tired so called ASAP the next day and asked if we could pick the car up late at 11:00 AM. Our time was 8:00 AM that morning. The same guy that I spoke to 2 1/2 months earlier said if you pick up the car early, we'll charge you another day. I repeated that I wanted to pick the car up a few hours late. He said your reservation is for 9:00 PM tonight. I said no, it was for 8:00 AM this morning. Then he said that I was being confrontational and that he was going to have to delete my reservation that WAS ALREADY PAID FOR 3 MONTHS EARLIER. He also said that he didn't know if he was going to have a mid-size car for me. I was extremely irritated at this point. I told him that I was looking at the reservation and that it was for 8:00 AM and that I would be there within the hour to pick up the car since he was threatening to delete our reservation. He did realize that he had made a mistake and the reservation was for 8:00 AM. We got there to pick up the car and it wasn't a mid-sized car it was a very small compact. We didn't complain, we just took the car. Later that day we noticed that the CAR HAD EXPIRED PLATES. I called and the same guy answered (pretty sure the owner). I said "what kind of mickey mouse car rental place is this renting cars with expired plates?" He hung up on me. I called back and he says "any smart person knows that in Texas you have 2 months after the registration expires to register the car." He also said that the car had passed safety inspection already. I said, "if you're the same person I spoke to this morning - you are anything but smart and hung up on him" The next day, my wife and noticed that in addition to having expired plates, the FRONT TIRES WERE COMPLETELY BALD and the steel belts were showing through the tires!!! I don't have a US telephone number (I live in the UK) and could not arrange for pick-up (they ask you to call them after landing for pick-up instructions). I emailed them about my situation requesting further information and did not receive a timely reply. I cancelled the reservation with 3 days notice and received a confirmation email of the cancellation. However, my $87 reservation and $200 deposit was not refunded to my CC after over a week! The $200 deposit isn't just a "hold" like most rental companies, it's an actual charge. I emailed them and have not received a reply. Neither myself nor my CC company can get them on the phone. I had to open a dispute. !!!BUYER BEWARE!!! This business is shady! UPDATE: I initiated a chargeback through my CC company, but it was REVERSED because ASAP car rentals sent them proof of the transaction and then claimed they have a NO REFUND POLICY. This policy WAS NOT advertised ANYWHERE. It was through my CC company that I learned ASAP is ONLY offering me an $87 credit to my next rental in the next year. WHAT?! Same story as many others. The car we received was old and not in great shape. I did appreciate the pick-up service from the airport, as we arrived a busy weekend of hockey tournaments and I heard the car rental place was a zoo. When we received the car, the air was low in all the tires. I realized about 3 weeks after the return that I have not seen the return of my deposit. I have contacted them 8 times since then via phone and email. My calls are never returned and my emails are returned every few times. Twice I have been told to expect a refund receipt soon and I never receive it or the refund. I am at the point of contesting the deposit charge with my bank. read more

MY DEPOSIT WAS STOLEN, I was threatened and faced more problems From MARCUS JOHNSON, store manager at DFW airport location. Receipt said deposit within 15 business days, it has been a month. I called and reported incident 4 times, 2 times this week. This week, the manager said I did not receive deposit because I "changed my credit card", but then contradicted himself by saying my card number did not matter. When I asked for the records of him speaking to accounting, I was refused and he got violent. I was also refused: store information/number, documentation from accounting, boss's name and email. Also, manager hung up on me twice, AND put me on hold when I asked to speak with his boss, then answered the phone and told me "he was the boss", that I did not have the right to my requests. He then THREATENED me and yelled at me, was malicious, told stories of how he mistreated his wife, lied to me, STOLE MY DEPOSIT and was ultimately the rudest retail worker I have ever met. I booked a car with ASAP Car Rentals, but then had to cancel as I ended up flying into Love Field and not DFW. Called them multiple times and kept getting a different story about how to get a refund. Oh, just reply the cancellation email and say you want a refund. Oh, it will take a few days. Oh, it will take 5 to 10 business days for your refund. Only then did I read the fine print where it says that all prepaid rentals are non-refundable. But this was NO WHERE mentioned during the process of booking the car. I'm posting this warning here, and then am going to contact Kayak.com and let them know, as well as the Better Business Bureau in Texas. I tried to give this a no-star rating, but a 1-star is the lowest possible option. read more

I had a $200 refundable deposit charged on my card after I reserved the car - without any information that this would happen - and now having returned the car 2 months ago, I still have not received my deposit back. I've called 20 times, literally 20, and I either get transferred and hung up on, go to a voicemail, or I don't even get someone to pick up the phone on the other end. The car had 150,000 miles on it and was a bit beat up..okay. After 6 months however and many, many back and forth emails regarding the return of the $200 deposit, I have just heard from my credit card company that even after following ASAPs directive to file a claim through the credit card company, that ASAP did not follow through on their end and I will not be credited the $200 security deposit. Ifas a way that I could give these guys a minus 10 stars and the middle finger, I would. If you are reading this review and THINKING of renting of these losers to save a few bucks like I did, DON'T. No amount of money you save will ever make up for their shady way of doing business. If you book way in advance, they charge you for the rental and deposit way before you ever see the car. In the DFW location, you get to pick up your "old" rental car at the lovely Atrium Hotel. Once you see this hotel and the location, you will understand why I thought this was the kind of hotel that charges "by the hour". There is no counter for ASAP Rental and you check with hotel registration, then someone appears from the back. The person I had dealing with me looked so sketchy and made me so concerned that I was nervous to be with him in the front driveway during the middle of the afternoon. The hotel had zero guests around or anyone even driving up during the 40 minutes I was there. When I got my car, the guy was NOT interested in any inspection and said that everything had been was already recorded "digitally". I have no idea what that even means, but I insisted on taking my own photos and forcing him to mark every single dent and scratch. Do not forget to check the miles and gas. Mine had 3/4 full when I received the car and when I returned, they claimed otherwise and tried to charge me for it until I told them I had photos. During my return, I had 2 HUGE men come out of the hotel that looked like they could crush me with their thumbs take charge of the car. They were much more careful in the inspection when it was returned and I could tell they were eager to find any reason to charge me extra. They had me park in a shaded area to make it harder to take photos. They used an iPad to film the car for damage and gas. I did too. The woman who drove us to the airport was so painfully rude that I was surprised she did not drive away as we were unloading. She clearly hated her job as did everyone that I dealt with on the phone, in person and shuttle. They are taking their sweet time in refunding my deposit and used crazy logic in counting "business day" to decide when my refund "might" happen. It took 4 phone calls and many days later, I have yet to see my refund. This kind of company can only exist in a tough economy and people willing to put up with it. I am hoping my review will prevent just 1 person from the same nightmare experience and AVOID renting from this company. read more

The price is good, but they don't have a regular location at the airport rental area. Someone will pick you up and take you to a best western nearby. They say they give you a free uber ride back to the airport if you don't want to wait for the shuttle that leaves every half hour from the hotel after you drop off the car. I arrived at the hotel at 6:33 so I missed the shuttle by three minutes- I used the uber link but it didn't work so I ended up having to pay for my own uber after that. I'd rather just use a company that has a location at dfw and a shuttle that comes by more often. Update- after 45 days, four phone calls and a letter, I had to file a dispute with my credit card company. Won't be using them again. Too much of a hassle. read more

I am still waiting on my $200.00 "refundable" deposit. I made the reservation on 12/1/16, debit card was charged that day for rental and said deposit for a 12/26/16 rental. I returned the car on 12/29 as agreed upon, with more gas than we got it with, and have yet to get my refund. Today I filed a discrepancy with my bank in hopes of retrieving my deposit. Have talked to them no less than 10 times and every time I have been assured that the credit will go through immediately. I called today and sat on hold and went to voice mail 10 times over the course of an hour or 2. The next time I tried to call back from my cell phone the call would not even go through as they had blocked my call. I called from another phone just to verify and the call went through. I rented a car a month ago from Dallas and am still trying to get my deposit back. I called a couple of weeks ago and was told to call back after the holidays. Today I have been directed to three different voicemails and now I am receiving a message that says "I'm sorry, but the number you have dialed cannot be reached from your calling area."
