I just enjoyed the best Carne Asada burrito I've ever had in my life here. I'm first gen Mex-American... nothing compares to my mother's cooking but this was absolutely terrific! If you're in Oxnard or driving through here...it's a must stop for lunch or dinner. Side note... I came back the next day and tried the tacos. I'd give him six stars if I could. read more

The Barilla tacos are excellent here. The asada burrito is good, but not great. Service was also outstanding and everyone is super polite. Now ambience, place is severely run down and in need of work to at least repair the damaged areas. Now a little more on ambience..... the vibe..... place needs repairs, but once again that people are great. read more

Asadero Mexicali - Carne asada burrito - Tacos Near Me - Oxnard, California

Start with the tortillas. Only 4 ingredient - wheat flour, shortening, salt and water. That's all a tortilla should ever be. Made fresh daily and delicious. Got the Al Pastor burrito. Huge thing that feeds 2 people. Packed with flavorful meat, and barely any rice/beans. Would get this anytime, but next visit is def gonna be tacos gobernador (crispy shrimp tacos). People are super nice. Place is basically a small storefront with only a few tables. They make everything to order, so takes a minute, but worth it. read more

Asadero Mexicali - Al Pastor burrito. Packed with meat and little rice/beans. Housemade tortilla. Delicious - Tacos Near Me - Oxnard, California

Hands down the best tacos in Ventura county! Full of flavor, never disappointed.. always friendly and really and friendly. 100% recommended and trust me you'll fall in love with the food just like me and my wife did! read more

Asadero Mexicali satisfied my week long craving for tacos!! This taco joint is right off of a main street and there's plenty of street parking. Inside, there are many tables to dine in and it was lively in a Saturday night. The lady at the counter was friendly and attentive while we were ordering. We tried the asada tacos with everything and quesabirria tacos to-go. The food came out promptly and nicely packaged. The asada tacos were good, and a great serving size. The quesa birra taco was the star of the show as it was packed with flavor! There was also fresh cucumber and grilled onions/chile on the side which I loved. I definitely look forward to coming back and trying other items off their extensive menu. read more

Asadero Mexicali - 2 asada tacos and a quesabirria taco, YUM - Tacos Near Me - Oxnard, California

BIRRIA RAMEN! TASTY! My sister recently bragged about her foodie find of Birria Ramen in Chino Hills. CHINO HILLS?!?! C'mon, Let's go Oxnard, no way Chino Hills has something on us! Never had or heard of Birria Ramen before that but they can NOT have better Mexican options than my home town! Yelp... find me Birria Ramen in Oxnard! And OF COURSE we have a multiple options! Oxnard REPRESENTIN'!!! We decide to go to Asadero MexiCali as it has a good rating on yelp (5*) and the only One open on Tuesdays. Located on Saviers Road, north of Santa Clara High School. Yelp page says it's a "street vendor" but upon arrival it's a Brick & Mortar now! 'Gratz on the upgrade! Looks like street parking only but there are spaces available when we arrive, so easy walk in. Counter service here and we are welcomed warmly as we approach. Well, I know what we want! Let's get our grub on! BIRRIA RAMEN: Oh YEAH! Nothing like a big bowl of hot soup on a cold & rainy day! Ramen swims in a large reusable bowl of steaming hot consomé which has a wonderful aroma when it arrives on our table. Mmmm! And the birria de rez is plentiful, tender & flavorful. Ramen is fully cooked and plentiful as well. Squirt a little fresh lemon juice on it and Voilà, muy DELICIOSO! QUESA TACO: Pretty good sized street taco here, bigger than the ones you find at the popular spots in Los Angeles. Shells are crisp, cheese is all melty with a nice thick layer. Birria is plentiful and perfectly tender and tasty, for small taco. Dipping it into the consomé just adds another savory layer to enhance the flavor. So GOOOD! Great combination I could enjoy again & again... mouth watering :) VERY EASY RECOMMENDATION! Another delicious Mexican food joint in Oxnard to enjoy. Friendly and attentive staff really create a wonderful atmosphere here. Will have to explore more of the menu next time but ain't gonna lie... that birria ramen & quesatacos are legit! Enjoy ;) read more

After a long review search on Yelp looking for tacos that were worth purchasing. The reviews for this spot did not guide me wrong. Coming from a 1generation Mexican household, I have never purchased tacos in ventura county as good as my mom's. HOWEVER, Asadero Mexicali's asada tacos on a flour tortilla . They were so good, the asada meat has great flavor and crispy edges. This being my first time having beans on an asada taco and repollo, was a nice surprise, don't skip out on those toppings, they are a staple. The gentlemen working tonight were very friendly and provided great information on the how the tacos are assembled as well as suggestions for next time. Will definitely go back soon. The restaurant has a unique charm, it almost feels like you are in Mexicali. read more

Asadero Mexicali - Asada taco de harina con todo (Steak taco with flour tortilla) - Tacos Near Me - Oxnard, California

Ok I had to go here twice to be sure. And now that I am. I think I've found the best tacos in Oxnard? That's saying A LOT. They're not your average tacos if you order it California style. Comes with asado, cheese, beans and salsa. Definitely not your average tacos. On a warm FRESH in house made flower tortilla. These ingredients here are fresh. The staff is extremely nice and professional. A true family owned business. One I will definitely continue to support. So would i recommend this place? Without question YES. You will not be disappointed if you like this style of taco. I would of given them 4 stars due to the inside needing a bit of help. But I had to honestly ignore that. Kitchen is clean and the food is top notch. Staff is cool. So there isn't an issue. Check it out! You'll enjoy it! read more

I haven't tried the food yet but I go to Purchase the fresh tortillas. They are the best tortillas. We go through a few packs a week. Everyone has been super friendly with me. They even helped me out one day cause the card machine wasn't working and I didn't have cash. They let me take 2 packs of tortillas and asked me to come back to pay. Now a days, who does that?! I gave them my Name and number and promised to come back and I did. They sell the tortillas at a few local meat markets but I like to go there and get them fresh. read more

A great little family run place. Their Aguas Frescas, while often and after thought are tops. I had their special for that day (Tacos de Pescado) one Taco De Pescado empanizado and one Taco Gobernador. Both were excellent, the fillings are spot on, the shrimp (for the gobernador) were clearly fresh grilled and done just right. The pescado too was cooked perfectly. And the salsas provided too were very well made. Top this off with super nice folks, eager to please and you have yourself a winner! I'd have pictures but I jumped on to the food so quickly all I could show is an empty plate! It's a bit easy to miss when going there the first time, so just go by the street address and you'll be fine. read more

My fiancé & I eat here often, I don't know why I didn't leave a review sooner! First off Asadero is clean and cozy, it feels very comfortable, like you're at a friend's house. The service is above excellent, everyone who has ever helped us has been genuinely sweet and overly accommodating. The food is bomb. My fiancé gets something different every time he goes & I sample his plates, but I get the same thing every time...I love the nachos. They're huge but I'm a left overs girlie so Idc lol. The way they build the nachos tho, they never get soggy. They always taste good no matter what meat I choose to go on top, and I tell them I want extra this or none of that they are super accommodating. Def try Asadero Mexicali. read more

Wow! Killer tastes. Pastor is epic, the Birria might be my new gold standard... but the Gobernador is the bomb. Awesome horchata as well. I gotta go back just for the dessert side, damn. read more

I love their tacos. So yummy and authentic. They take so much pride in the food they make. Seriously these Norteño tacos are soooo good. Top 2 of my fave taco places and I'm freaking picky. The owner is humble and really cares to ask what you think of the food. To me, that's a huge plus. read more

So my fiancé and I were scouring the internet to try the golden "birria tacos". In all honestly, Asadero Mexicali wasn't our first choice, but we managed to find this place after our first choice being closed. However, they did not disappoint. We ordered the birria tacos and quesa tacos. They were delicious. Now, just for informational purposes, this establishment is located in what some would consider a more run down part of Oxnard. That being said, don't let that intimidate you, it's worth it. As my family likes to say, you find the best food in off the wall places (meant with zero disrespect). Also most of the menu is in Spanish (which was fine for me, but those who don't read Spanish), but I'm sure who ever is helping you could easily explain the menu in English. So if you are wanting to find the golden birria tacos - try here. I added some photos from yesterday just to show exactly what we got. read more

Weirdest visit there I ever had. We've eaten there several times, the food was really good. I show up, they're all very nice. I ordered two Tortas. They take 25 minutes to make one torta then I sit there while they make the second one, while the first one sits on the "warmer". I get home and there's five pieces of gristle in my torta, I can't even eat it. The bread is thick and not toasted, very little carne in the middle. I set it all aside to take pictures of it but that would be too cruel so It ended up in the trash. Several people picked up their order while I'm waiting for my second torta while the first one is sitting on the "warmer". I'll spare you the details on everybody else's food. 27 bucks up the keister. I know things happen once in awhile and the food and the people have been good prior to this but this one rubbed me wrong. I feel like going back and trying again considering it might be a one-off but it's a tough call if your left hungry, plus, it's not affordable at that rate. read more

Their tacos are AMAZING!!! The best flour tortillas I've ever had. And outstanding customer service. A real pleasure!

Found this spot on YELP and now returning the favor. The best camarón, quesa and birria tacos I've ever had. If I could've eaten more than three I would have. The attention to detail - from the way they chop their onions to how thin and fresh their flour tortillas are - make sure the texture and taste are amazing. We talked to everyone working that day. Such a sweet group of guys working. If I lived nearby I'd eat here once a week. Oh, and if you're looking for Frutti Hielo, it's one in the same. That's their old name but they still make all the same fruit cocktails in addition to food. read more
