It's difficult to find authentic Indian food in central London, so I was ecstatic when Raj introduced me to Arzu.
Arzu started out as a sweet shop, but now focuses on savoury items. They have a large variety of deep fried snacks like samosas, spring rolls (Indian style - thick fried rolls) and pakoras (fritters)
I love their dhokla. Unfortunately, they don't provide the traditional green chutney with it. I always have a couple of chutney varieties in the fridge, so we have the option open. You may want to request them to give you some of their sweet & sour tamarind chutney which is a decent substitute.
Indian deep fried snacks, should be consumed fresh & hot out of the frying pan. Since I've always headed here late evening, I haven't picked them up. Maybe in the winter?
They make awesome mishti doi (sweet yoghurt set in a mud pot - a speciality item) and dahi ballas (lentil dumplings in a yoghurt sauce - eaten cold)
I've brought home a lot of their food stuff & it works well a day or 2 after too. I suspect the deep fried goodies will freshen up with a quick pop in the oven.
They stock jaimin brand Indian farsaan.
