We took two knife making classes here on consecutive Saturdays... wow, what memorable, fun and…read morerewarding experiences! I was clueless but excited and we dove in to the process. The teachers were all incredibly patient and helpful and let us do our thing, but guided us the appropriate amount. We now have amazing custom knives built by our own two hands! But, even better, we have this experience together! Life is good when you try something new!

I booked a late Father's Day gift for my husband took him to the up-cycle Game Boy class. We love playing games together so I booked it for each of us to get a game boy in the end. You are given the opportunity of picking which gameboy you are going to repair, and you do all the work. You take it apart clean it dry it put it in a I believe was a laser cutter, You customize it and set you up your speaker, screen and motherboard. You get the full experience. He really loved it and so did I, I am not experienced at all in welding or anything like that and the instructors were so helpful and knowledgeable. The way the walk you through it was really helpful to the point I was able to memorize the steps and retake apart the game boy to replace a piece that was oxidized. Don't worry the staff will help you if you're second guessing your ability to do this lol. The best part in the end is you keep it. ^_^ I highly recommend this 1 day class it was very helpful informative and fun. I will be coming back to try to make the survival knife next lol.

So I found this cute spot on yelp. Ever since I was younger I wanted to learn design and how to…read moremake my own clothes but became a nurse instead. Now that I'm all settled I decided to try the Intro to Sewing class ($80: supplies included) here & I am SO glad I did!! Diana Rupp, the owner was absolutely amazing. She was so friendly and open! I showed up there with absolutely no knowledge of sewing or how to work a sewing machine. But if you come with interest and an excitement to learn, you'll enjoy it. She gave us hand outs with everything we needed to know, took us through all supplies for basic sewing, taught us the parts of the sewing machine and how to thread a sewing machine. I didn't even know there was a whole process even before beginning to use one?! Lol. She went at our pace, helped us each time we made a mistake, all while having a regular conversation. None of us ever felt left behind or stressed. I was beyond excited when the class was finished. I bought some supplies from her store and even Diana's sewing book (which I highly recommend if you're dedicated). I can't wait to practice on this new hobby and make it my own! They also have tons of other classes available if you want to learn other techniques. Already eyeing the next class I'll be taking: embroidery :)) Love love loved my experience!

If you're like me and had zero to no experience with sewing, this is the perfect class for you. She goes over threading step by step and gives you some great techniques and advice to take home with you so that you can practice. The classes are very small, so if you have questions, she's available. The two hours flew by. I left the class feeling very confident in what I learned (a little too confident, telling people I can take on those mofos on Project Runway!) I can't wait to take another class.

I attended an acrylic painting class where we made a painting inspired by Van Gogh. During the three-hour course, Alonsa and James taught us how to paint Van Gogh style from start to finish. Though three hours may seem like a long time, the time really flew by as we painted. I was happy with my finished painting (which is hanging on the wall in a place of honor at my place). The price point is competitive for the level of expertise that Alonsa and James provide. Alonsa and James make the class special. You can easily tell they enjoy teaching the class and sharing their knowledge of art and art history. Their personalities complement each other and make the class fun. The studio/gallery - The space also serves as a work studio so you can see works-in-progress by Alonsa and James. Additionally the space is a gallery of work from local artists. Several pieces depicted the local landscape of Bay Ridge (the Verrazano, the bay, etc.), which I thought was pretty cool. In my opinion, the class is for those who have a genuine interest in painting and seeing how artists work. Alonsa and James will make it fun for you. Seriously, go see for yourself!
