I celebrated my boy/girl twins' 7th birthday at Creatively Wild this past weekend, and I could not be happier with how their party turned out!! How often can you honestly say that an experience exceeded your expectations?!? DM and her crew organized a FANTASTIC, unique, and seamless experience for the kids, from start to finish. She took care of everything, from the gorgeous decorations (including personalized birthday banners that I'm going to have framed), to the fruit & cheese and sandwich platters and drinks, to the cakes and mini cupcakes, and pinatas, and music, and gift bags, and so on and so forth. She thought of EVERYTHING, so I didn't have to worry about anything, which meant I could actually enjoy the party myself. The other parents and I (all of us obviously veterans of too-numerous-to-count cookie-cutter kids birthday parties) were amazed at the caliber of the art project that she and her indefatigable group of energetic and cheerful fellow artists helped the kids create (I chose the graffiti-theme party), and then they had this wonderful artwork to take home and show off. They were all so proud of themselves! Since I had a large number (24) of children, I rented the larger gallery space, and I would recommend having your party in there as there's plenty of space for the kids to run around in once the sugar hits. I have three teen/tween kids and I have hosted MANY birthday parties on their behalf. My son's graffiti party at Creatively Wild was the best birthday experience I've had. Let's begin with the quality of the art materials: the paints, the canvas, the variety of creative things to work with like typewriter parts, stencils, etc. It was all excellent. The art instruction was spot on, too. All the kids actually learned about graffiti and the techniques involved. Several parents emailed me after the party to tell me this is the best artwork their kid has ever done. The staff was excellent--fun, knowledgeable, patient, appreciative and a pleasure. They kept a group of 11 year old boys very engaged, interested and happy. Donna Maree (DM), the owner is so easy to work with. She is flexible and open to anything (within reason) you want to do to make your party great--you can bring your own food, choose your art projects, etc. There is nothing "cookie cutter" about this place. I'm so happy to know that I have found my next birthday location for my two other children. They cannot wait to have their own graffiti party and I, too and looking forward to coming back! read more

My 6yo has taken the Afterschool classes and summer art camp for several years now. The teaching crew for kids classes at Creatively Wild are amazing and DM has the most incredible amount of warmth and energy. She's so open and inviting that kids run right up to her. I'm saying this as the mother of an extremely shy child. DM is one of the only people she goes right up to, other than myself and her dad. She simply knows instinctively how to make children comfortable. And the works of art they create are amazing! This is a real NYC art studio and they create real art. It's not a kids' color-a-butterfly-on-paper kind of class. But they learn about and work with every medium: paint, paper mâché, metal mini sculptures etc. Most paintings are done on canvases and make great gifts for grandparents (except that my kid refuses to part with them). This is the kind of class where you think "this is why I chose to raise my kid in NYC" because when they take an art class, they take an ART class. But still have fun doing it! I highly recommend the class and summer camp for kids (I'm sure the teen and adult classes are just as amazing!) read more

Creatively Wild is the kind of place that you wish existed in real life, but that usually doesn't. DM and her fantastic team have built the reality and then some. Take a few steps down off the sidewalk, step through an anonymous red door, and into a parallel little world of creativity and color, a magic combination of cool art studio and nurturing sanctuary. Happy and hip, creative and kind. Kids painting and sculpting and gluing and plastering, with every material and technique to hand, while their amazing teachers/artists share ideas, images and inspiration. Miles Davis in the background, popcorn to snack on while they work... from glitter-obsessed 3 year olds to pen-and-ink existential teen angst, it's all going on! Since moving here from London 2 years ago, Saturday morning class has become a non-negotiable feature of life and chosen habitat of our 9 year old. The fabulous Sally has taught her not only how to paint and draw, but how to look, think, and express herself. I found this place after exhaustive research and am so happy I did. I have 2 sons, 6 and 10 years of age, who just went through an ordeal this summer of a relative passing away. Not only are the instructors kind, wonderful, caring and knowledgeable, the class provided my kids a way to express themselves and the emotions they were feeling through art. They were exposed to various mediums and are encouraged to explore their imaginations and follow through with their vision. We now possess a collection of art which we proudly display around our home. My kids are always ready for class and I do not have to remind them. When we vacationed in Disney Orlando for the summer, my kids would not leave until they brought a piece of Disney back for all the instructors. This alone speaks volumes about the staff. As a parent, it is extremely rewarding to watch them develop their self-expression and in such a positive manner. I absolutely love the staff and their curriculum and have no reservations, whatsoever, in recommending this place. Kudos to the staff and thank you, thank you, thank you! read more

What else can I say outside of "Best Birthday Party Ever". I've never written a review on yelp but felt it necessary to sign up just to write how amazing they were for our 5 year olds birthday. We've been to so many cookie cutter children's birthday parties at various play spaces and it was nice to have a breath of fresh air with something new and exciting. The instructor to child ratio was more than enough and they were all so friendly and enthusiastic throughout the party. It was amazing that each child got to take home their own individual art piece and the dance party with glow sticks was the perfect ending to this perfect party. It's 2 weeks later and our daughter is still raving about the day. I can't wait to sign my daughter up for classes at the space! read more

The distinguishing factor of Creatively Wild is that it is a real art studio, not a kind of art-in-a-box, factory-style art place. It is a real open studio, where richly multi-media is offered, and kinds can partake of what they choose. In one day there, my son made: a melting crayon painting (with real fire source! For 8+), a spray paint painting, a wooden print that was stained, etched and covered with cool bike gears, and a medallion with 3-D charms. Truly high quality, arts education here. Reminds me of MIT grads' "Parts & Crafts" studio in Somerville, MA, where they have tons of materials and offer open studio. Kids explore and make stuff, using the expertise of resident artists/engineers. We are going back to Creatively Wild! read more

We absolutely love Creatively Wild, DM and the whole crew. In addition to my daughter's amazing 6th birthday party that we recently held at CW, our two girls have spent countless hours creating in the studio - at camps, afternoon classes, birthdays and at their free pop-ups around DUMBO. Creatively Wild is a DUMBO gem. After a day at CW, my 6 year old said "your dreams come true there!" The birthday party was also truly awesome. DM and her staff went above and beyond. The kids had a blast creating large, fierce, incredibly decorated, papier mache animals. The music set the vibe - and a kids dance party broke out at the end. Everyone got to be creative and had a great time. Total recommendation. read more

My children attended art classes at Creatively Wild for a number of years, and they always had the best time, made great art and created meaningful relationships with the teachers and other students. But the team at Creatively Wild totally blew me away with what they did when we recently had our daughter's 4th birthday there. They decorated the whole studio to fit her theme, came up with a customized art project that the kids loved, had a ton of staff on hand to help every step of the way, and then at the end of the party transformed the space for a rocking dance party that the adults and kids loved. I can not recommend Creatively Wild more highly for classes, parties or art camps. read more

My kids made art that I didn't have to secretly throw away. I like this place because: 1. They know what they are talking about- its not all about glitter and rainbows. 2. They know how to interact with kids- my kids didn't want to leave at the end of the day. 3. They know what is age appropriate- there are so many programs that are geared to toddlers around here, it's refreshing to see something cool for school-aged kids as well. 4. There is a mind-boggling plethora of supplies to work with, very unique objects and mediums to work with. Now I know what my kids will be doing on the school holidays if we are in town. I am taking the Adult Art Foundation class CW and cannot speak more highly of the experience. I love the hands on education I am getting from Sally, my endlessly talented instructor. The environment breathes creativity and encourages you to be yourself, to try new things, and to have fun. I appreciate that CW provides quality materials and that they have been flexible with my schedule as things inevitably pop up. Working on a computer all day, I have found myself leaving class feeling energized, less stressed, and inspired. CW is a wonderful community and I am looking forward to taking more classes in the future. read more

My 2.5 year old Brooke goes to class with DM every week and I can't rave enough about her and the class and studio. DM is very passionate about the kids, art, creativity and her own art as well, which is tremendous! Since Brooke started going his motor skills, imagination and painting skills have been enhanced in ways I couldn't have imagined. Brooke is very passionate now about art and drawing and practices/speaks of it daily. I truly can't recommend it enough!!! Creatively Wild is THE gem of all gems - a hidden treasure box of an art studio. Spaces like this are hard to come by! Our daughter celebrated her 5th birthday party here and still talks about it on the daily. DM and her staff are incredible - the children had such a fun time and left with masterpieces in hand. Each child, even the most reluctant artists, were enchanted by DM and her staff and felt empowered to make use of the abundance of available art supplies. Creatively Wild Art Studio is truly one of a kind. I had taken my daughter to many other art classes before finding Creatively Wild, NOTHING comes even came close to the level of skill of the teachers, the quality of materials, and most important the appreciation of the artist within each individual child. The children paint on real canvases and explore endless tools and materials. We had a very special bond with both DM, the owner, and her teacher, Vicky, but all of the teachers there are amazing. I celebrated my daughters 3rd birthday here today... !The staff is absouletly amazing! They made the kids (and Adults) laugh... they all went above and beyond the extra mile to make sure my daughter had a perfect birthday party! I have attended Creatively Wild Art Studio for personal art classes as well as parties. DM is truly a one-of-a-kind!!! Her energy, enthusiasm, warmth and humor set an amazing tone. Her classes are loads of fun and I walk away with great feelings of accomplishment and empowerment as a growing artist. We recently held our daughter's 9th birthday party at Creatively Wild Art Studio and they did an absolutely fantastic job. Our daughter chose for her and her 12 friends to do some NYC inspired graffiti art and the results were amazing. The staff worked so hard to make sure everyone was being helped and was following the steps. DM and her staff are unbelievable! Not only are the teachers talented and active artists, they care about the whole child, inside and out. My son reluctantly began classes and emerged confident and loved. He gained a self confidence and talent we never knew he had! The staff is capable of seeing each child's strengths and interests and bringing out their best. I cannot say enough good things about Creatively Wild! We had my Son's 7th Birthday here and it was great! The event was well-staffed and the employees worked together to ensure a seamless event. We were able to pick a topic for the kids art project so it was personalized to our sons interests. Everything about the day of the event was handled by Creatively Wild including pizza and enormous cupcakes from One Girl Cookie. It went off without a flaw and the kids had lots of fun.
