Perhaps the worst pizza I've ever eaten. I never write reviews but ate there last night and still nauseated at the thought of it. Got two cheese slices and threw away one which I never do. I'm sick of paying $5+ for a single slice of New York Style pizza. Honestly, anything over $4 is pushing it. The whole ethos of pizza by the slice is that it is quick and cheap. I'm not even asking it to be GREAT, I just want it to be good. All this to say that after a long walk through the city to clear my head of intrusive thoughts accompanied by a full body cigar, I needed a slice of pizza to tie me over until dinner. I told myself the next place I walk by serving pizza by the slice that didn't have a long ass line will have my business. After purposefully darting my head the opposite way when I saw a few $1.50 per slice places, Artistic Pizza appeared when I needed it most. I walked in and saw the checkered floors, $2.50 cheese slice & $3.50 for a pepperoni slice, and a grungy but not gross pizzeria ambiance. I became more optimistic than when I started my commission-only real estate brokerage job, and ended up just as disappointed. I went with a cheese and a pepperoni slice, and it was the poster child for 3/5 stars. The crust was doughy and had no hangtime when you picked it up, real ones know about the hangtime. However, there was an ample amount of cheese, sauce, and toppings but it just couldn't make up for the like of crisp on the crust. It satisfied the pizza craving, but I can't sit here and say it was good pizza. In my 28 years on this planet, the phrase "you got what you pay for" is so hit or miss. Ive had some cheap wines that are fantastic. I've paid under $10 for shirts that are still in my rotation 5+ years later. This is my go-to spot for vegan pizza in the West Village. Even when I go to eat at another restaurant, I always stop by to pick up two slices for home. On Sunday, my friend and I were heading to Spicy Moon and he asked about vegan pizza options, so on our way home we stopped by and picked up 4 slices. I had the mushroom and what I believe was a cheeseburger or chopped cheese slice. We both enjoyed our slices and will be stopping by again soon. Out of all the pizza joints that I tried out this past week during my trip, I can honestly say that none of them impressed me as much as artistic pizza. The pizza was crispy and full of flavor. Also had a great variety of vegan pizza which my girlfriend really enjoyed. Will definitely be coming back here when in town. read more

Artistic Pizza has great vegan pizza by the slice! I got a slice of the vegan mushroom pizza and a vegan pepperoni and sausage crumble slice. The slices were sizable and pretty good! I didn't like the vegan sausage crumbles, but the pepperoni was good! Also, not many places have vegan by the slice, so it was super convenient! The service was pretty quick, as they heat up the slice as soon as you select them. The place is more of a to-go spot, but there are about three little tables available for seating. I also like how there are two display cases: one for the vegan slices and one for the non-vegan slices. Overall, the pizza is pretty good! I'd had this place bookmarked on here for a while, and finally went last summer but spaced on reviewing it because it made me so happy I was in pizza heaven brain land. It's located in my usual stomping grounds in Manhattan's west village, and they have an entire case of vegan options. I am not sure what cheese they use, but it's clearly one of the better options out there. I have only gotten the one with 2 kinds of "meat" and some veggies, and personally have less options than they have because I don't eat mushrooms. There's minimal seating, barely enough space for 2 people to order at the sideways counter, and it makes it even better to be honest as it's a tiny hole in the wall place. I brought a non veg friend last August who's from Jersey and relocated, and he loved what he got. I love that there are so many pizza options in NYC now, and this one stands out for sure. read more

I didn't like this pizza at all. Ordered a 14 inch pepperoni and sausage for lunch pickup today and it was $17 which I would have thought was reasonable had it not tasted truly like dollar slice. It was the quintessential dollar slice crust - soft and sweet. Toppings were generous and the sauce and cheese were okay, but nothing to write home about. It just tasted like very cheap pizza. Pickup was easy - it was ready when I got there and was fast. It was still super hot when I picked it up and reheated well when I got home. All in all, totally edible but pretty bad quality. There is a good fresh combination to choose from. This is why a new place is ArtisticPizzaNYC. You will find the only shop on West 3rd Street in the village in New York. Founded just over a year ago (before everything happened in today's world), ArtisticPizzaNYC has been in the small shop located behind Washington Square Park and just off of 6th Avenue. The chief chef - Sagor - is one of the friendliest pizza chefs in the city. He meets you when you walk in, and talks to you not only the pizza he has there but also new slices you might want to try. It is better than most pizza shops here in New York, or anywhere. When you listen and then decide, everything is possible. Today, we ordered a few slices to try. We started with a traditional Cheese slice. We then asked for a Mushroom and Spinach slice that included cheese and a light tomato sauce. This was then followed with an all White slice of mozzarella cheese and a white sauce. There was no tomato sauce or anything else. Then, to include a bit more, we had an all Vegan slice of Mushroom and cheese. But, things did not stop there. The last slice they offered was a traditional Margarita slice with fresh tomatoes, fresh basil, and fresh mozzarella. That is it. ArtisticPizzaNYC. It is a small shop with a great (small) team. They were excellent. I tasted a good share of the product and we liked being there. In fact, next time we are in their neighborhood, we shall go back to ArtisticPizzaNYC for a few new slices, and a soft drink, while speaking with the team. The shop was great. Delicious fresh New York slices for cheap prices in a very expensive and fun and lively neighbourhood which has some great pizza and some bad pizza. If they sold fireplaces, they'd be "Artistic Heaters." If they sold nudes of males, they'd be "Artistic Penises." I suppose that's not very tasteful? But these slices are. It's hard to find a truly great slice in Manhattan, and a lot of the high-rated places and the busy places are actually crap. This tiny little hole-in-the-wall right in the middle of the expensive and trendy villages is one of the very best slices I've had in Manhattan, and I would come back here anytime for a delicious slice of pizza. Makes the famous nearby Artichoke Pizza taste like chalkboard dust. If it served up painted renderings of Pokemon, it'd be "Artistic Pikachu." And if a call girl was giving confessions here, it'd be "Artistic Piper" (Billie). After my fourth trip, I said: I still love Artistic Pizza, although it's not nearly as good as it was when it first opened and I fell in love with it. Their slices certainly still taste good and it's open super late, they're cheap and service is really nice, but it's not quite on the level of the famous places across the street - Joe's and Bleecker St Pizza - and now that I've compared them directly back-to-back, Barbie agreed that while the people running this place are some of the friendliest anywhere, their slices are good but not life-changing.
