I was drawn in by the incredible buttery smell of the fresh waffle cone. I got a split scoop of coffee and Mac nut, and both are delicious. Unlike Roselani (see my review there if interested), this actually tastes like natural, fresh, small batch, artisan ice cream. It is creamy but not gummy, rich without the taste of synthetic flavors, and it's got just enough icy bits to make me feel like there's probably no industrial stabilizers and texture enhancers. I eat a relatively clean diet and I'm sensitive to additives like that. I didn't see the ingredients list so I don't know for sure, but at least I enjoyed the taste. The waffle cone smelled better than it tasted, but it was huge and well worth the money. Service was good too. Will come back!

We went in about 15-20 minutes before closing, and the first thing the workers told us was, "We're not accepting cash." Then, when I asked for samples, they looked at each other, which gave off a mean vibe. I'm so disappointed because I wanted to love this place based on the reviews. Unfortunately, I didn't get that experience and I'm really turned off by the service.
Stopped by after lunch for a sweet treat. It's hard to find free public parking in Paia by all the storefronts because it can get sooooooo busy with tourists (us included lol), but thankfully we managed to find a spot. It smelled really good when we walked in! The storefront is pretty tiny but the line wasn't too long. The lady helping us was nice in recommending some of her favorite flavors. My husband ordered the lilikoi butter, and I got the mango strawberry li hing mui. The lilikoi butter was good; the texture was creamy and buttery and the lilikoi added a good balance of tartness to the ice cream. The mango strawberry, however, did not taste like mango or strawberry, and I couldn't even tell there was any li hing mui. The texture was fine, but it was severely lacking in flavor. Looking back, I should have tried one of their more popular flavors which are more chocolatey/rich, but I was in the mood for something lighter and fruity. Overall not a bad experience, but we've had much better ice cream on the island.
Wow, this was some of the best ice cream I have ever had in my life. Not only were the flavors on POINT, but the service was top level as well. Jenna & Faith were awesome, they helped me find the perfect combination for my split scoop. Thanks Jenna & Faith, y'all set the bar for customer service real high, I'll definitely be back. The perfect start to a Friday night. PS- Give Jenna & Faith a raise
Amazing ice cream, unique flavors, great service, value, ana cool little ambiance of a hidden store! A must try if you want dessert in this area, especially unique ice cream flavors.
Super tiny store front. They have dairy and non dairy options and the entire area was literally spotless and squeaky clean. The two women were super sweet and patient as my non verbal son tried to see what he wanted. We got two cones and a scoop in a cup. We tried vanilla, chocolate, and salted malted vanilla swirl. All delicious! Clearly all homemade, rich, and creamy. All of our selections were dairy options. The cones were freshly baked and the cookies in the window smelled divine. Worth a stop as you head down the highway to Hana or just bounce around the island.
If you haven't been here yet, what are you doing? Get here asap! Way better than Baskin and Robbins or Cold Stone. We drive here special just for their ice cream. This spot continues to serve up delicious dairy and vegan ice cream. I love that you can get some of your favorites in pints to take home. They also come up with seasonal flavors that are always nice to try. I absolutely love their split scoop option when you can't just pick one flavor nor do they skimp on the scoop. It's a easy spot to miss as you might miss the walkway to the entrance but you can't miss the huge ice cream on the front and on the wall if you're coming up Baldwin Avenue. Depending on the time, you may even be drawn in from the fresh waffle cones or cookies or the line of people waiting for ice cream. All the workers are super friendly even when they're busy, definitely stop in and support local!
First time coming here on a Saturday at 8:15 pm. Girls did not greet us, gave us a weird look and just said "we're not taking cash." They looked annoyed that we wanted to get some ice cream! Loved their ice cream but unfortunately will not be back because they don't seem to want our business anyways!

I have tried this place a few times and have been impressed every time. The flavors are amazing and I like how they have vegan flavors as well as regular ice cream. The last visit I tried the mango li hi mui. It was delicious, the best part was it was freshly made and they do not use chemicals. The service is quick and efficient as there is only room for a few people at a time. The decor is like the ice cream creative but not overwhelming. It definitely fits the vibe of the neighborhood. I truly enjoy going here and checking out some different flavors as I have not tried all of them yet ! read more
Paia, HI. The line moves fast thanks to the two hard working girls working here. We went for the basic, no frills or extras, in a cup instead of a cone. I ordered two scoops so I could at least try a couple of flavors. I did not anticipate the scoops being as large as they are and two is a bit much. Somehow I managed though. All of the flavors are really good, and the texture is very creamy with no evidence of gummy additives. Fear not the salted varieties, they are delicious. The ice cream is reasonably tempered and gets soft enough quickly on a warm day. This really brings flavor to the forefront. I like that the ice cream focus is on flavor and texture and not sugar. One flavor is called " Coffee with Sugar" but even that one is not too sweet. read more

Cute little ice cream shop in Paia tucked beside a creperie that was super popular on the Friday night I was there. After a long day of travel, I decided to keep it chill and go for an evening walk by the beach with a cup of ice cream in hand. Many flavors looked intriguing, but I chose the salted malted vanilla chocolate fudge because of the intriguing name! The ice cream flavor itself was kind of boring, but they gave a nice hefty size for a small. Perfect treat for a walk to the beach! read more

You know a place is good when you smell their baking chocolate chip cookies from DOWN THE BLOCK. They did not disappoint. The ice cream and cookies here have also not disappointed on any of the other 47 times i've been here. Absolutely convinced this is the best ice cream on Maui. They're flavors are local hawaiian and unique. The quality is beyond words. They ALSOOO have vegan options that are sooo good (if that is ur thing. I wish there was a bit more seating but didn't mind walking around with it also :) read more

This place, tucked behind Cafe Des Amis, boasts good ice cream and great service. It has very unique flavors with both dairy and nondairy options - no sorbets. The workers there were very nice, letting us sample as many flavors as we wanted . The portions were incredibly generous (especially for Hawaii): large scoops and reasonable prices. The flavor themselves were great. Definitely not mind-blowing, but creamy enough to satisfy any sweet craving. I recommend checking this spot out, either after a good meal in Paia, or simply as a sweet treat. read more

Small little shop! The service was good, she offered her favorites as a recommendation and allowed me to try two samples. I was sold at first bite with the Lilikoi butter but still tried her recommendation. I eventually went with my first love. The ice cream is pricey and they give a generous scoop. One scoop for $7. I ate every bite almost licked the bowl clean. It was good!! read more

Best vegan ice cream I've ever had!! In fact, it is was the best thing I ate in Maui and I ate at the Four Seasons, Ko, Monkey Pod, and a bunch of other places!! Got the coconut milk with vegan caramel sauce and it was amazing!! My son who eats dairy got the brown sugar cinnamon and he said it was the best ice cream he's ever had. Can't wait to come back!! read more

Artisan ice cream had tons of flavors. We got peanut butter chocolate chip. The serving size was very generous and the employees were kind. There were a few benches outside if you wanted to sit outside and enjoy your ice cream. read more

After dinner and a day chillin' on the beach, I wanted some ice cream to end the night with! Luckily, Artisan Ice Cream was only a 5 mins drive from our AirBNB. Downtown Paia is so hard to find parking! Even at 730pm at night, it was packed and we had to park 2 blocks up (again as during the day time). Don't blink or you might miss the entrance as I did! It's a small walkway into a door to the right. We got a cup of 3 scoops: Honey Lavender, Chocolate and Lilikoi Butter. Very creamy and delicious. Perfect to end a hot day with. Satisfy my ice cream craving. :) read more

Nestled in the bustling town of Paia lies Artisan ice cream. They make all the ice cream themselves! I'm a huge fan of the lavender honey ice cream. I'm glad they didn't "dye/color" their ice cream purple and it's a natural white color. The honey doesn't overpower the lavender and it's lovely. Dairy based so that means it's creamy good! Waffle cone - Extra $1 but wasn't worth it to me. I like my waffle cones super fresh. read more

The vegan ice cream, which was coconut macadamia, was awesome. The dairy ice cream, salted peanut butter chocolate chip was super sugary. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but they do give generous scoops. Inventive flavous. Eat fast because the ice cream is not that hard and it liquefied pretty fast -- for context it was actually a cooler day when I went. read more
