APG Electric assessed my EV charger install arranged by Qmerit. The installation was part of the…read morepurchase agreement with Ford when I bought the vehicle. I was quoted a $790 permit fee by George from APG Electric. He claimed that the fee covered logistics, site schematics, and electric plans. He mentioned that if I want to cut cost, we could explore pulling the permit myself. Wanting to explore that option- I did my homework and learned that in addition to the $178 permit fee I also need some techinical paperwork to submit. I asked George about possibly getting the technical paperwork from them; he declined. He also mentioned that I am probably better off working with a different installer. Before I even had the chance to respond or discuss further, I got a notification from Qmerit telling me my project has been reassigned. I find this extremely unprofessional. I was simply exploring reasonable ways to lower my cost- something that George himself suggested. Instead of working with me, APG Electric backed out without a warning, leaving me to start over. I added a couple of more stars to acknowledge the effort George put into the project (i.e. load calculations), which didn't go unnoticed; I do believe George approached the work with good intent. I could not bring myself to go above 3 stars as the delay on my project (due to reassignment initiated by APG Electric) has caused quite a bit of added stress. TL;DR: APG Electric assessed my EV charger install through Qmerit and quoted a $790 permit fee. Definitely going to have to keep this company in my back pocket if I ever have any electricity…read moreissues... So I woke up around a week ago with a frig that had no light on when I went to try and get water. I started checking things in the frig and found 2 outlets not working. Then I found 2 more outlets in the Living Room that also were out. Everything else in the house was fine though. I reset the breakers and GFI switches. Nothing worked. So we rushed to get as much refrigerator and freezer stuff to a friend's house. But we needed an electrician. How could only part of the house be out of power like this? Monday I looked for a quote on Yelp. Never have tried before but within minutes a bunch of companies messaged me. Bayside Electric was one of them. Not only did they respond to me within an hour on Yelp, they also called and left a Voicemail. I talked to someone named Kaylee I think and she gave me the good news that someone might be able to come out in the afternoon. She wanted to call me back and double check to be sure. But within the hour, she called me back and an appointment for that same day was set. She also informed me of the rates beforehand. Chris was the gentleman who fixed our problem. He was super kind and professional when he arrived. He came with bags on his shoes to not track dirt in the house. He fixed our issue within minutes and educated me on the issue. Basically one of our breakers burned out so he just ended up replacing it. He also gave me two other scenarios, one being cleaning out the whole circuit breaker or the other option of completely replacing it. But never once did he ever feel like anything was dire. You know how you go to typical auto shops or even dealership and they make you seem like your car is not going to run the next day unless you get whatever they recommend fixed? Chris never did any scare tactics to make me seem like we were in trouble. It was so refreshing. When I mentioned that he said its because Bayside Electric was like his previous employer. Family owned so they aren't ever pressured to make sales on every service call. They are just there to help. So yea thats my story. If you are having any electrical issues this holiday, I highly recommend Bayside Electric. I can always get behind a company that doesn't want to treat their customers like a number.
